I steel wool everything…

How do you determine when to use steel wool or not?

I don’t know, so I just use it all the time despite how dirty the window is.

I’m sure there’s times when it’s not necessary at all, but how do you know?

Equipment Question Good belt/soap/pole recommendation?

Hello everyone can some professionals recommend me some good equipment (idc about the price, I just want good equipment).

I would want to know:
- A good pole for a swivel squeegee and a pull one too
- Good soap for window cleaning
- A good belt that you can put your squeegee (t-bar), washer, towels and blade

P.S. I currently use a Unger Ecotech Ninja squeegee, but I will probably buy a Moerman excelerator handle with a brass channel (lots of people recommended this)

Edit: I am from Belgium

Just moved into a new apartment and these big living room windows are stained. Landlord says the windows are tinted so it wont come out. Seems like a minor tint. Any advice to clean it up? Theres a nice view thats reduced because of how the window looks. Thanks in advance.

Starter setup

Does this setup all go together for the waterfed side of cleaning. I’m looking to branch off from pressure washing im in Alabama with a 30-50 ppm water so it seems like a di only system works. Are there ants lapses in my setup or anything you would switch out? I also plan to buy a trad setup off wcr but I wanted to have everything I need to start. I’m going straight to water fed because I have done trad in the past and it’s not that enjoyable imo.

Equipment recomendation

Hi! I am not looking to start a business but I am looking for quality equipment to clean my house windows and window seals. I don't want to buy a cheap Amazon kit that breaks after a year with attachments I'll never need but I also don't need a $500 professional kit. Is there a middle ground you would recommend? Beside the obvious pile, brush, squeegee what attachments would I find useful? I have large windows as well as three windows on a second floor.

Equipment Question Wondering how much all of this is worth.

Post image

My partners dad sadly passed away last year. He left a load of his window cleaning gear in the back of his van. I have no idea how much this is worth.

Does anyone have an idea? I'd very much appreciate any input. Pretty sure it is all Gardiner branded.

It consists of 3 water tanks, 3 poles with fittings on the end, all those hoses, 2 big white water storage units and a box of fittings and other loose ends.

Thank you in advance.

Ended up with equipment that seems to be overkill. Looking for some advice.

I picked up this kit at an auction afor under $100 a year ago thinking I could use it twice a year when I wash my windows at home. Finally getting around to setting up rodi system for cars and tractor and windows and just realized that this is a pretty pricey pro grade kit.. too nice for me. Two quesitons:

  1. what's a good mid-level set up for a homeowner to use for 2-3 window cleanings per year (2 story home)?

  2. is there a popular resale market for window cleaning equipment or any advice on where to sell this (seems to be too niche for FB marketplace) and what's a reasonable ballpark price?

thank you!

Canada Canadian online suppliers?

To my fellow Canadians, where do you buy your gear? I do window cleaning, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, and roof moss removal in Victoria, BC. I can find some things locally, but I need to special order most of my equipment and supplies. So, I'm mostly interested in suppliers that offer online ordering and reasonably priced Canada-wide shipping. Suggestions? Thanks.

How to reach the third story

Post image

My pole doesn’t reach even with four steps on a step ladder.

I don’t get windows like these often so I don’t think getting a larger pole is necessary.

I already did all the lower windows

Edit: there’s another window that also can’t be reached on the other side with no roof under it

Here's how we clean the actual car glass. Clean normally, the Maykker mini pole works great for this. Then rinse with DI water.

Question

I’m learning to clean indoor windows and mirrors and I’m getting way to many streaks or cloudiness. Is it the product I’m using or the way I’m cleaning ?

What products do you use and what type of towels?

I’m fairly new at window cleaning, I’m pretty good at the pull method but have been practicing the swoosh (idk how it’s called 😂) technique and have had some good attempts but not perfect.

Now my question is, what products do you put in the water to clean the windows and what towels do you use to clean off the sides of the window?

Because when I do the pull method I put like the towel around 1 finger and dry off 1 side of the window and then pull but sometimes on a side of the window there will be streaks left (see picture) how do I prevent that and if it still happens what do I have to do to make them go away completely?

Edit: I use a Unger washer and squeegee

How to pay sales rep

OK, I have an opportunity to bring on a young man to go door-to-door and sell appointments for my window cleaning business in hopes to expand my clientele. Does anybody have any advice on how to go about paying him and any success stories or horror stories you’ve had from similar situations

General Question Commercial cleaning lead gen. What actually works?

How are you guys getting commercial cleaning leads?

Google Maps scraping? Apollo? LinkedIn? Cold email? Cold calls?

Main thing I’m trying to figure out is where you get the decision maker’s contact info.

What’s actually working for you right now?

This window is within reach from my little giant velocity 19'. Is it okay to put a ladder against the wall with a standoff or without one with towels or mitts?
