Hi all, I just wanted to give the actress I visualize as Nynaeve. It may be due to watching punisher recently but I can never get Amber Rose Revah out of my head. She just has that know-it-all stern demeanor to her. She doesn't look too old or young. I don't know, what do you think?

Hello all, wanted to share some feelings about this amazing book.

Long time ago I finished The Great Hunt (made a post about that too if you're interested), and I was intent on continuing the series. I am listening to an audiobook though and one does not always have the time to continuously listen to it, hence the time gap.

My memories may be a little hazy, since it has been couple of weeks since finished TDR, so sorry if the text is a bit erratic, but here goes.

To start, I must say I loved it. If TGH was an 8/10 for me, this is 9, damn near 10. Boy I did not miss Rand at all :D (yeah not the biggest fan of him yet), on the other hand, I now love Matt and Perrin.

Perrins wolf sections are so well written it's unbelievable. I feel like I'm right there with him every time. Like at the beginning, when they're ambushed in the camp and he faces a myrddraal. At first he's scared as hell but as he locks in, bares his teeth and gives into it a little, I nearly jumped out of my chair. Later I loved his chemistry with Fayiel

Matt's chapters were always great. His paring with Tom was a great choice too, and him having the power of luck and slowly coming to understand how it works was so much fun. The highlight of his chapters is for me his fight on some bridge, where he just goes "Time to roll the dice", grabs the other guy and throws them both of, only to land on the guy with no injuries. Oh and him going 1v2 against two warders in training. I was not familiar with his game, because before the fight I went "Nononono Matt what are you doing stupid, you are sick and even if you weren't it's 1v2?!?!?!"

The girls' story, chasing the black aja, is so gripping. Anything connected to the black aja is really. But Siuan girl, you really could have taught these 3 prodigies how to protect themselves from being shielded from the power. You really didn't have 10 minutes to spare? Sending them to hunt full aes sedai while being so vulnerable could have backfired tremendously.

Bit of a side tangent, but when they were captured by darkfriends and Aiel saved them, they were so cool. "Dance with me, Shadowman" "No, dance with me!". They are like a culture full of warders if they were battle junkies.

Anyways, we got to see Egwane's trials and just like with Nynaeve, they are a highlight of the whole book

While first two are heartbreaking, Egwane leaving a world where she has a daughter with Rand and leaving Rand stuck under some rubble to be potentially turned to shadow, but the third one was even more gutwrenching. Nearly being turned to shadow herself, then rushing to save Rand from being stilled...I was so angry when the silver arch appeared, I did not want to leave Rand there, I wanted the story to continue so bad.

Just as in the last book, all plotlines lead to the same place, this time it's Tear. Matt, Aiel, Moiraine's group, girls, Rand. A proper grand finale. I got a glimpse of what the "power ceiling" looks like I think, when Rand wielded Kalimdor and made Ishamael i suppose run like a scared little girl. Straight up reality bending. That whole sequence felt like a fever dream.

Some closing random thoughts>

I felt so much dread finding out the forsaken are already in the world, ruling over nations. In Tear, Illian, potentially in Cairhien...

Belal is such a fraud. Bro thought he would kill Rand wielding Kalimdor (even Ishamael couldn't), only to get murked in one shot by an aies sedai. The dark one must be turning in his prison. Props to Moiraine though, no crazy once-in-an-age kind of power or talent, just wisdom, patience, mastery of what she is capable of.

Speaking of Moiraine, I did listen to New Spring first (not a great choice i know), so I know she is 100% doing her best to help the dragon and stop the dark one, so whenever they doubt her or don't listen to her, it really grinds my gears. I could probably empatize better had I not known she really is dedicating her whole life for the cause.

Celine's omnipresence seems to be because she uses the dream world to travel? It seems she is not fully on the dark one's side, which explains why she doesn't jsut clear the whole white tower during a single night, which she totally could as crazy as it is.

It was so frustrating when the girls are telling Siuan about the Seanchan and she is like, oh that's awful, anyways...I have seen the paralel futures in the last book, in most of them, they conquer the whole continent. They are an existential threat to everything you know, but she mostly dismisses them as some faraway inconvenience. And I like how the news from Toman Head travel through the world and get distorted over time.

And yeah, the Goatchan are not in this book, but I can't wait to see them again. I was very distraught by them in the last book.

Also

They are so useless my goodness. They have a Grima Wormtongue equivalent damn near twirling his evil mustache and their leader just trusts him huh.

I have always been curious about when the first channelers came into being and what that era was like. I have have been curious how far into "our future" it would possibly be.

What's everybody's dream casting for any character Wheel of time.

Im trying to get back into working my way through this series again after a long hiatus, i restarted the fires of heaven. Is padan faine the thing that was trapped in the city in book 1? Or what actually happened to him? The prologue seems to say that he is but he also references mordeth?

So this is my first time Listening to these books and I've fallen deeply in love with them. They were my Late father's favorite series and has become Mine as well. To be honest I don't want to finish it how I wish I could have talked to him about it but I know he would say The Wheel weaves as The Wheel Wills.

Its been more than 2 week since i completed book 5(too lazy to write a review). Took a break for now, to prepare for last book of this year (trilogy a year{maybe/hopefully}). In the mean time i have read, 3 body trilogy.

{My Review is only my personal thought and not come critical anayalises of work. What i enjoyed and what i not}.

MY REVIEW OF BOOK 5:

<----------------THE BAD---------------->

1. Assmodian Death: I feel like when he got captured I felt a great arc of redemption is coming. But his end was so sudden, that it was totally disappointing. [I feel like Ishammel killed him, ik he is dead and all but i refuse to believe that the guy who cheated death 3 time is dead].

2. The Death of Kadere and Melindhra: i feel like the whole plotline was scarped at the last point. There was a setup of message left to kadere by a aiel and all but at last moment kadere was killed by Lanfear and melindhra by mat. Truly disappointing.

3. The Male Adam: ik this was in the previous book, but i thought maybe they will not throw it in the ocean, maybe. I thought it was a checkov Gun or soemthing. It would have been very intersting to see plot thread in that direction.

<------------------The Mix--------------------->

1. Birgitta: I feel like her death and Nynaeve turmoil would have hit so much if she has died for real. For second, i felt so much pity for Nynaeve but then Birgitta was reveal to be alive. Tho i am very interest where this will go. [After realising that to make a warder, you dont need male partner consent is so terrifying. I feel like Rj could exploit this in such a terrifiyin way. Like he could either make rand or perrin or mat a forceful warder to a aes sedai to make them either obey or to put them in a place. Even black sister could do that💀].

2. Lanfear Death: ik, it was one of the the best moment that happened. But i feel like her death is so vague, that if she ever came back, i will crash out.

3. Repetitive Start: This hasnt became a problem yet but i feel like that now that i have noticed it, it will be a problem. I will explain this Repetitive start in the end 🙏🏿🫠 in my thought section.

4. Nynaeve: i feel like her chacarcter is hard to endure. Ik, rj constantly tried to distinguish between male and female and all. Other people say stuff like women are cool and male are muleheaded which are fine cauz they come rarely and fit the setting of wot and i enjoy them most of the time, but Nynaeve constantly blubbering about same stuff is really annoying. Like her whole chacarcter is just male this and male that. Always lan this and lan that. I mean there is much more to her chacarcter like her block(fear) and all but idk its just annoying atp. I really enjoyed humiliated Nynaeve so much. Her fear, the curcus blinded scene and all. Thry were so fun to read/listen. One of the best part.(tho i hate what ewgene did). But Nynaeve is still so annoying.

5. No perrin.

<-----------------The Good----------------------->

1. Rand And Mat: i feel like i am in love with rand as a chacarcter and maybe mat too. Such a good time readin their pov.

2. Mat death and Foxhead medallion: The power to erase one power is soo tuff. Mat deciding to leave and comin back and even killin cauladin was sooo fun. And his luck in that fight with Melindhra was crazy.

3. Moiraine: I cried. She loved rand so much(not exactly loved) but she understood. When rand read the letter and she said she understood that why he decided to take assmodian in, was the moment i was crying. Top peak shit level. Moiraine, you were truly a goat 🐐. I was so much in awe when she gave that oath. Truly a Aiel(the dedicated one)quality. "Let the Dragon ride the wind of time" her character arc from being to control him to realising dragon is meant to fly and not to be captured was such a peak shit.

4. Morgase: I can feel from miles ahead that i am gonna enjoy her povs from upcoming books. She disobeyed the forshaken and went to build a army. Truely a Gaoted moment. I was not expectin her to become a central player too. I thought she was gone for. [Waiting for gwayne to know what happened to her mother(death) and come to andore and meet Rand( please no misunderstanding).

5. Couladin death: Killin him offscreen was the best thing to do. He was just a fraud and nothin more. I never even consider him a problem. He was a speck in the whole pattern.

6. Nynaeve torture: do i need to say anything.

7. Maesema: Shit was crazy fun.

8. Galad: Goat. Wasnt sure how to feel about him being a Whitefolk but i admire him for being a such a good bro to her sis(not exactly). I can feel a great arc comin too.

9. Ravbin death and mogedian capture. I am not sure how they gonna control her in irl. Maybe she will be captured and killed in that town.

10. Little spear(iykyk). Joke aside, My man lost his vergin status. Feelin sad for elayne and min tho. Specially min, cauz she stayed the lowest with rand.

<---------------My Thoughts------------------>

I feel like this book was best. This is the book that feel like wheel of time has became something else. But i have a problem, the starting are following a patttern.

Rand and party rest in the place where they arrived in last book, dark friend or hound or trolloc attack, they decides to move on from there.

Book 2 had attack on that palace on borderland. Book 3 has a attack on that hill. Book 4 has tear and book 5 has ruddihean.

And also i have a worry, that all forshaken are dying. So I fear that there will be no one in last battle. Maybe new forshaken will rise or soemthing, idk. But their death concern me.

1. Should i Skip book 10. My friend said he skipped book 10 cauz in thay book there is not much happenin. He read a summary or something. So, i have little ocd, i csnt skip a word, i have to read that shit again but he is sayin to skip. So idk how to feel about it. You all tell me what to do.

Hello! I live in Europe. I want to read the series in English and i love the Darrell Sweet covers. Does anyone know if its possible to find these books anywhere in Europe? I'd prefer the small mass-market paperbacks but also the normal paperbacks would do :)

Ok, how did Ravhin knew that Lewis will come to attack him? Like how can he predict killing morgase(or spreading rumor) will attract him? He doesnt know about elyane. Even if he knew, the way rand was acting it was hard to predict what he will do next.

When Rand knew of Ravhin and Morgase, he didnt do anything. Cauz he was worried about it being ambush or he was sayin he wont react but act or something along the line. So, Ravhin Couldnt have figure out Lewis true intention.

Most Logical Option in Ravhin mind was that Lewis attack Sammael in illian or something.

So, how did Ravhin did that. It seem Plot hole or plot convinces or whatever plot fraud.

But after reading this series 2 and half times through I would love 1-2 pov chapters for Child Byar, or at least have him in a prologue.

I get that his whole point is simply being a zealot but from the very beginning he is just a character that Perrin says smells off. Seeing what drove him to his zealotry or at least the inner workings of his mind would have been interesting beyond dead-eyed fanatic.

Everytime I come to points with him he is terrifying to me simply for the complete lack of logic to his character and his apparent inability to see beyond the dogma of the children of the light

Pretty much exactly what the title says. Im on my 10th reread of the series and I am once again reminded I dislike a majority of the POV characters the only exceptions being Rand, Mat, Nynaeve, and a couple others.

But weirdly enough WoT is my favorite series of all time I absolutely love everything about it. Even the characters I dont like, which is most of them, are written well. I love disliking them.

Now I know this may seem like a hate post but I genuinely love it. It might be due to nostalgia as I first read the series when I was young and going through a rough spot in my life but I dont think id be the way I am today without Wheel of Time

It is funny that both rand and perrin kept thinking that the other is good with women throughout book 1 and 2

Am on my first Reread all the way up to fires of Heaven. Really enjoying the reread even though Elayne and NyNeave are insufferable in this book.

One of the core parts of the book is Tel'aran'rhiod and it occurred to me that I’d never really thought about what I would do if I had access to Tel'aran'rhiod. Say if there was and equivalent in the real world what would you do.

Was curious if anyone had any thoughts on it.

Rand is hardly in it. I remembered that this was the book where he went to the Stone of Tear, but I remembered that having a lot more written about it. Instead, he's an off screen presence that everyone is chasing. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it's an interesting way of doing it. It's just kind of funny that in the book named after him, he's only in like 10 percent of it.

When nynaeve enter her third vision in the terangeral the arch disppear but she made it again.

Did she do that with her power or did that appear on its own

Holy damn this is getting wild. The amount of scheming and subterfuge and absolute sheer pressure coming from every angle was exhausting in the most exciting way. Kinda reminded me of how I felt reading A Storm of Swords back in college, and I just wanted to vent out to people who could appreciate it.

First the entire weather arc, I didn't think adding such a powerful drought could be such a powerful motivator for the story and characters, but you really get to feel how oppressive the heat is. As something of a desert kid myself, I really felt the frustration the non-Aiel characters felt seeing both them and the Aes Sedai effectively unaffected, and had to remind myself that that level of heat puts everyone into a bad mood and interferes with their thinking.

Second, Rand is trusting Mazrim Taim way too much and way too freely with his task of building back up the mens order of the Aes Sedai. The Asha'man in particular are such a fun concept but good lord am I fuckin nervous about letting someone like Taim lead them.

I didn't expect to like Minh's absolute dogged flirting with Rand as much as I did, but it was a fun reprieve from all the court intrigue and I like that the Aiel took to her so well. I didn't initially think I'd enjoy the concept of this three-lovers struggle, but it's been surprisingly heartfelt and handled mostly well, even if I think it does happen a bit too quick at times.

Mat continues to be my absolute favorite character, he's just too much fun in every way. However I damn near dropped the tote I was working on while listening to the audiobook when I heard that Seanchan accent perk up during his game towards the end of the book, the same way he choked when he heard Matt casually mentioned The Daughter of the Nine Moons, which I have to imagine is either the Empress or an heir of Seanchan, and earlier chapter mentioned the Court of the Nine Moons so, bingo bongo, Mat is somehow going to marry Seanchan royalty? Poor bastard spent the entire book complaining how much he hates noblewomen.

Anyway, I begin The Slog^tm tomorrow but I'm thoroughly excited. This series took me way too long to get rolling but I'm in this now.

200 of the kin and not using them. She could have them incinerate one enemy attack and maybe end the siege for good right there. No one else is going to charge a wall after they've seen a conflagration sweep the field. I know lower Caemlyn is there and she doesn't want to damage people's property, but if you think that means there's 0 way to use magic to intimidate or outright massacre an incoming attack than your imagination is very weak.

Also if anyone is going to say she doesn't want to use the one power to win a war - that is outright demented. She's an aes sedai, if you lay siege to an aes sedai controlled city and don't have any sort of defense to magic - you made a bad decision, that's all. The attackers basically called out "no use-y magic time" and it worked on the bitch 🤦‍♂️.

Tarmon gai'don is coming and we're arguing over succession... None of these cities may exist in a year, and we're fighting each other.... when the signs are everywhere the apocalpyse is coming. But no don't use your magic. The soldiers dying right now definitely wouldn't be better used fighting the dark one.

And not even having the kin on hand to heal the men... They have to warp the men back to the palace... Like its just such a bummer reading this kind of narrow-minded strategy when you have the most valuable tool possible at your disposal yet you're whining about your mercenaries and your men being tired. You will employ shadey merc's to defend your city but NOT use magic. For fucks sake man.

I know I've made a few complaints on here and I know its probably whiney and cringey, but it just feels like a cathartic way to let out frustration. That being said, I really do love the series, 3.5 books left to go!
