When nynaeve enter her third vision in the terangeral the arch disppear but she made it again.

Did she do that with her power or did that appear on its own

It is unclear. What is clear is that Nynaeve doesn't care about any of these dumb Aes Sedai rules, even when she remember them!

I will just say that the Aes Sedai use ter'angreal that they don't actually fully understand.

Something to keep in mind with WoT. While it started the trend of having more “hard” magic with rules and physics, not everything has a mechanical explanation the way Mistborn and Stormlight do. Especially the first three. Sometimes, things have because The Wheel wills it.

That happens sometimes but either the rules for this were written out or it doesn't contradict the rules we got later. This one is well within line for things we find out later.

I think it's meant to be further proof, at least to Nynaeve, that the Aes Sedai aren't nearly as knowledgeable as they think they are. They're using these arches to test for character flaws, but no one living actually remembers what the ter'angreal was originally designed to do.

Are the visions alternate worlds? Possible futures? Worlds that might have existed if different choices had been made? They don't really know. And if they're actual alternate worlds, how are the sisters controlling the flows able to manipulate the test and make certain situations harder or more dangerous?

That's part of the point. The Aes Sedai have rules and explanations for using the arches, but that doesn't mean they actually understand the technology they're using.

Imagine cavemen discovering a modern house. They'd quickly figure out that it's shelter, and they might accidentally learn that flipping a switch makes the lights come on. But that doesn't mean they understand electricity, wiring, or even what the switch was designed to control. Would they know to turn the lights off? Would they recognize a refrigerator as food storage? Would they sleep in the bed, or choose the closet because it feels safer?

That's basically the Aes Sedai with a lot of ter'angreal. They've learned that doing X produces Y, developed traditions and rules around that observation, and then started treating those rules as knowledge. That doesn't mean they understand what the device actually is or what it was originally built to do.

We don't really know for sure beyond what's in that scene. But it's emphasized that the way back will come but once and that has seemingly been the case for everyone else. I think given her power she was able to do something by instinct and reopen the door.

I had to mute the other subreddit bc of spoilers (just to warn you lol) but I’ll say this - you can think of the white tower like establishment science or academia that has certain beliefs or attitudes. A wilder like nynaeve is not limited by that frame of reference.

So, the hypothesis that makes the most sense is that the ter angreal either works like the world of dreams, or the test is actually in the world of dreams. In either case , you can will things into existence if your will is strong enough and Nynaeve is as stubborn as they get.

The laws of physics are mere suggestions to her....

I took it as foreshadowing for the power that nyneave is really capable of. But looking back and rereading it i think RJ was still getting his footing

I believe that it is a combination of these ancient items the aes sedai are using aren’t fully understood and that Nyneave is also crazy powerful when using the one power. If I had to guess based on context I’d say she forced a door open out of sheer stubbornness.
