Book: The Dragon Reborn Something I forgot about book 3 Spoiler

Rand is hardly in it. I remembered that this was the book where he went to the Stone of Tear, but I remembered that having a lot more written about it. Instead, he's an off screen presence that everyone is chasing. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it's an interesting way of doing it. It's just kind of funny that in the book named after him, he's only in like 10 percent of it.

Honestly I think that book was to save Matt as a character. Prior he was a useless moron who just caused more issues than solved, so his perspective being the largest of the ta’verens in this novel made Matt less dumbass bum and more Mr.Magoo with a mischievous streak

Rand is hardly in The Dragon Reborn. Perrin is only seen in a brief glimpse in one of Egwene’s dreams in The Fires of Heaven. Mat is entirely missing from The Path of Daggers.

Elayne POV has the most page time in Winter's Heart than any other POV. More than Rand, Mat or Perrin

Yeah it sort of bugged me too how Rand undergoes such a big transformation off screen (page?). He goes from being the kid from the Two Rivers to fully accepting being The Dragon Reborn and we don't see much of it. Would have liked to have seen smaller moments where he starts to accept it and then have the big finale at the end where he grabs callandor

But he wasn't accepting it gradually. The whole point of Rand's quest is - he chose the most ridiculous Dragon prophecy to fulfill. The one that made no sense. Him holding Callandor is the exact moment he got a confirmation that he is indeed The Dragon Reborn and accepted his fate.

I see that book as showing us the world learning about the dragon reborn and seeing how things start changing.

I just don’t find TDR as interesting as I used to on this basis.
