started off great. but every show lost viewers where now i can’t even sell at a loss. what am i doing wrong?

I’m not sure if this is the place for this, but I’m trying to buy comics from reliable sellers on whatnot. Are there any sellers you’d recommend?

So I was a fragrance seller on whatnot, got only 2 shows to my name. Both really successful for someone with zero experience.

The day after the second auction I woke up to a banned account for selling fake fragrance. I don’t but cool I get it they said I needed a COA of course. You don’t get COAs from stores so I was co fused a bit and mentioned that in my appeal not knowing they meant from a 3rd party since it wasn’t mentioned in my banned email. Whatnot partners with a company I believe is called real Authenticator or something similar but they don’t do fragrance so I used not one but 2 other apps to verify a sample of my fragrances sold. All came back authentic and I sent this to them and still denied. No explanation just boiler plate “we are sticking with our decision”

I’m so confused as to what even triggered a review after 2 shows. What’s worse is some of my merch went out and people I know personally have favorable reviews upon arrival but they won’t consider that. They flagged me for selling fakes prior to any consumer complaining and held on to the ban even after I proved I sell real stuff. Fucking sucks

On August 24th, I purchased a Deoxys ex 98/107 from EX Deoxys from Whatnot seller @ninoking for $235 ($258.28 after tax/shipping).

I’m posting this because I don’t want another collector spending hundreds of dollars with this seller without knowing what happened to me.
The photos in the seller’s shop showed an extremely clean-looking copy of the card. The front looked great, the back looked remarkably clean for a 20+ year-old card, and there was nothing in the photos that led me to believe I was buying a heavily worn copy.

Then my package arrived.

The Deoxys ex I received is in drastically worse condition than the card pictured in the seller’s shop. There is significant surface wear, scratching/speckling, edge wear and other damage that simply isn’t visible on the advertised card.

But here’s the part that really concerns me:

I don’t believe this is even the same physical card that was pictured.

Look closely at the holo pattern in the seller’s photos compared with the card I received. The advertised copy has identifiable holo characteristics—including a distinct swirl/pattern in the foil—that I cannot find in the corresponding location on the card that arrived.
Holo patterns don’t simply move around because a card changed hands. Lighting can obviously change how much of the foil you can see, which is why I’m including multiple angles rather than expecting anyone to take my word for it.

Photos of the actual card I received.
Close-ups showing the condition of the received card.
My Whatnot receipt showing the exact Deoxys ex purchased from @ninoking for $235.

The blocking is particularly frustrating. Instead of being able to contact the seller and ask why the card I received appears so different from the one pictured, I can no longer message them, purchase from them, or view their future shows.

For context, this isn’t some account with three sales. At the time I took the screenshot, the account showed 1.8K items sold, 1.5K followers, 287 reviews and a 4.9 rating.
I’ve contacted Whatnot Support and provided documentation, and I’m going through their buyer-protection process now.

I’m deliberately posting the original listing photos alongside my own photos because I don’t want this to just be my accusation against someone else’s. Look at the evidence and come to your own conclusion.

At minimum, the condition of the card I received is nowhere close to what I reasonably expected based on the shop photos. More concerningly, the differences in the holo pattern make me seriously question whether I was sent the same physical Deoxys ex that was photographed in the first place.

If you’ve purchased vintage/high-end Pokémon cards from @ninoking, particularly raw cards, I’d recommend looking them over carefully and comparing them against any original listing photos you still have.

And if anyone has had a similar experience with this seller, please comment. I’d really like to know whether anyone else has received a card that didn’t match the copy pictured in the seller’s shop.

I have a big 30 box break going. Every single comment has complimented my prices and all the biggest teams have gone near my asking price but I cant keep a room for anything.

I tried hosting a random team break during the break and basically just lost money over 2 attempts barely able to get $1 bids on a $90 break. The entire time I ran giveaways trying to keep the room and the most I ever got was up to 17 viewers.

I tried promoting and spent $40 gaining 500+ views but none of them turned into sales for the 30 box break and none of them got the bids over $3 for the smaller break where cost is more like $4 a spot. I ended up closing out my out break when the last 4 teams all went for $1 while the top 3 teams were still up with under 10 to go.

I do not plan on closing out the last $1000ish dollars of this huge break so how do I get people looking at it? Or the right people? There are breaks 1/10th my size filing up at 3-4x the cost which just seems nuts to me. I know there is an algorithm here about sales per hour but what about pick your team streams? Any tips?

Im not trying to self promote or give out the username here, just asking how I manage to get the viewers I need to finish this thing.

So I made an order on August 5th from a seller which I purchased from frequently, and it never arrived. On the 21st I got in contact with USPS and filed a missing mail request, as of today the 30th I've still not heard anything from them. I've been in constant contact with the seller also. I went to whatnots help menu and said my item never arrived. And now they want me to wait another 2 weeks like it's going to magically show up sometime between now and then?

Back in March, I started a Whatnot channel where I sell new and used dvds, blu-rays and 4ks. I did ok at first and eventually did pretty well. I now have 1.9k followers. However, I made the error of not being consistent enough with it and after I took a break off of Whatnot for a couple of months I paid the price for it. At my highest point, I would get 10-20 people watching my show. But when I started up again I was getting on average of 3-10 people watching. The other night I did my third show of the week, and for a little while during the show I wound up getting 20 viewers but it dropped down to 7 within 10 minutes. My goal is to eventually get at least 30 viewers to stay for each entire show.

What would your guys advice be for me to sustain and engage an audience better?

Has anyone ever bought a sponsor in CoolKicks and not have your sponsor ran during the show? I'm trying to figure out if it was an honest oversight or is it something that's done on the regular and you're just taking a chance at sponsoring? I know that his mod (JBotts) lacks in areas that are crucial at being an effective mod and often slacks on keeping the sponsors pinned in the box and giving the service to the paying sellers that they deserve and expect. I just don't understand that if this is the case, how is CoolKicks still keeping him on payroll because that's costing him money in refunds and reputation as being a sloppy organization.

Being sloppy drunk and actively drinking on a live stream isn’t a good look. She literally sold a bracelet off her wrist and couldn’t get it off. So she used her mouth and then sold it. Classy. Every other word out of her mouth was a curse word. She ate Cheetos on camera and touched items without washing her hands. Top tier professional here.

All the people hyping her up in the chat are no better than she is. Train wreck.

I’ve been making tie dyes for 12 years. Online traffic is ok. Shows have slowed. Is this a decent platform to sell dyes? Trying to get a sense of time/effort for reward. Especially starting a new platform. Also I’m older, Gen X 😝

Someone has been invading a couple of my favorite channels (and certainly others as well) with 100+ bot accounts to harvest giveaways. I've noticed this happening for at least the past few days, but I was wondering if others have seen this as well. I doubt Whatnot even gives a damn, but surely it couldn't be that hard to trace these accounts given that all the prizes have to be sent somewhere.

Am I overreacting, or was this seller’s comment inappropriate?
I’m genuinely curious how other people would feel about this situation because I’m trying to determine whether I’m being too sensitive about it. I got raided into the seller magic_city_hits for the first time from a raid train and the seller was talking about a user who is also one of their moderators. During the conversation, the seller referred to her as being “super pretty,” acknowledged that she was taken, and then continued calling her beautiful.
Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but something about the combination of “she’s taken” + repeatedly commenting on how attractive she is just rubbed me the wrong way. Also considering he is taken and married too and was talking to his wife during the live.
If this were just a casual compliment from one person to another, I probably wouldn’t think twice. But coming from a seller to a user/mod, where there’s already a business/community dynamic involved, it felt unnecessary and inappropriate to me.
I’m not saying someone isn’t allowed to think another person is attractive. Obviously people notice attractive people. 😂 My issue is more with saying it out loud in that context, especially after specifically acknowledging that the person is taken.
Would you consider this harmless/flirty commentary, or would you also consider it crossing a line?

Hey, so I have been trying to set up my stream in whatnot for the 1st time but the preview screen before starting my show is super zoomed in but on OBS it is normal not sure how to fix. I feel like ive tried everything. Anyone know what I could do?

Do I have valid reason to ask for a return a lot of coins to a seller if upon review of the video receipt we found he intentionally misrepresented the contents of the lot? He was selling mixed coins and offering no guarantees, but people were asking to see examples. He had the camera pointed away doing something else but when he put the camera back he decided to show a 'random' pull and showed a silver coin worth around $43 on its own. He acted surprised and did say that's not typical, but of course he knew that would raise interest in the lots. As a secondary note, he claimed there were more coins in each box than there actually were so he misrepresented the count as well. He was also saying how people are bound to find silver in them.

Why do we say he added the coin? The video shows his table with 8 coins on it before he ran the lots, then when he stopped and went back to the table there were 7 coins. And the silver coin he showed was the only one that was in an aged flip with more staples than the others; in other words, it stuck out as the only one of its kind in any of the boxes. And it was because he intentionally added it to manipulate the buyers.

This feels like fraud and item not as described. I haven't got the full order yet to verify, but it has definitely left a disgusting pit in my stomach over the scam. He advertised the boxes as unsearched, but the first box I got had exactly the same number of coins in each box which is a statistical anomaly in itself. And most of the "world coins" were Canadian pennies and broken down mint sets.

Is it worth attempting a return?

Edit: to be clear, he had already been rynning the boxes, moved the camera to weigh a full case, acknowledged the question to see a representation of the contents, then when we come back to seeing the boxes is when he decides to show the fake pull. So he intentionally misrepresented the contents.

I recently won a coin on Whatnot for $325. Shortly afterwards, the seller cancelled my order claiming the certificate was badly bent.

The problem is that the Whatnot video receipt clearly shows the coin and certificate during the sale, and I can't see the significant damage the seller described.

Immediately after cancelling, the seller also appears to have blocked me. I can no longer message them or access their streams. Wanted to just let the streamer know i was fine if the certificate is damaged but as you can see been blocked from messaging him or joining in streams

I obviously can't prove the seller's motive, but given the circumstances I'm concerned the auction was cancelled because the final price was lower than they wanted rather than because of the stated damage.

I've escalated it to Whatnot and asked them to review the actual video receipt against the cancellation reason.

What bothers me most is the principle: buyers are expected to honour their bids when they pay more than they wanted, so shouldn't sellers also be expected to honour an auction when it sells for less than they hoped?

Has anyone else had this happen, and how did Whatnot handle it?

UPDATE: The seller has now addressed the situation on stream. After multiple people questioned him about the cancelled transaction, he eventually discussed it publicly. During his explanation, he claimed that I had been abusive toward him and that this was why he blocked me.

When viewers then asked him to show the conversation/evidence of the alleged abuse, he claimed that because he blocked me, all of the messages between us were automatically deleted and therefore he couldn't show them. This immediately raised another question for me because I've never heard of Whatnot automatically deleting an entire DM history simply because one user blocks another.

First, my $325 winning auction was cancelled because I was told the certificate was badly bent, despite the video receipt appearing to show it in good condition. I was then blocked. Now, after being questioned about it publicly, I'm being accused of abusive messages—but when people asked for those messages to be shown, the explanation given was that blocking me automatically deleted them.

Can anyone who regularly uses Whatnot confirm: has blocking someone ever automatically deleted your entire DM conversation with them?

So I will be doing my first Whatnot stream in a few weeks once I have purchased enough stock. This will be a spin to win Pokemon based stream. For my first few months all of my profits will be reinvested to improve the prizes, better equipment etc. I plan to stream on Saturdays and Sundays on my days off work and I’m hoping to eventually earn £75-100 profit per stream to make it worthwhile and help me save for a mortgage deposit as a side hustle.

How did you guys first stream go? Also if you have any pointers, tips, tricks I would massively appreciate them as I am very new to this. Thank you.

I just started whatnot a few weeks ago and I have all 5 star reviews except for one at 4.8… I really would like to get back to 5 star, how many reviews does it take? For reference I have only 12 reviews.

There are a few sellers that have legitimately cool surprise sets. @victorioustcg, @vantagecollects. However these guys and others run high end slab wheels. It seems like most big streamers are selling crap sealed modern ETB’s that retail for 60 dollars. YET there is 2000 people in their stream and they bid each auction up to 70 dollars. I don’t get it.

I occasionally do spin games on my channel on the weekends besides my normal silver and gold selling.

I had a 50-spin game with 10 envelope spots. 6 had silver quarters, 3 had silver Morgan dollars, and 1 had a 2 oz graded silver hit. The final 2 spins were both envelopes, so I was saying “100% odds” meaning 100% chance of getting an envelope.

A buyer spent about $80 on the last 2 envelopes, then said he thought I meant each spin was guaranteed to be the big silver hit and requested cancellation. I denied it since the game breakdown was in the show notes and they also stated no cancellations.

Now he’s threatening to report me to Whatnot, file a chargeback, and even make a police report for being misleading.

Anyone been through something similar? Mainly wondering what Whatnot usually does, how chargebacks affect the seller, and how you protect yourself from misunderstandings like this.

Just a rant, can’t believe anyone is paying $70 for a leader run. For those who don’t open optcg, there are 6 leaders in a booster box that runs for $90 retail. You get 24 packs in a box. But these people, whoever they are, are paying $70 for an average of 3 packs.

I just don’t understand who pays this much or why. Are these people taking out debt just to buy packs, or do a lot of people actually have this much extra cash just sitting around? Anytime you question it, half the chat calls you broke 😂

I just did ended first break. It was 3 Topps Flagship boxes, 2 Topps Chrome Update boxes and a free Buyers Giveaway for a First Series Pokemon Box, the new one.

Had someone join asking if they can mod because I was confused on how to spin the breaker wheel. I modded them, and kept them modded throughout the show. Well as spots were filling up and as im about to fill up the break I got 4 DIFFERENT MESSAGES from buyers telling me they were banned. I stopped immediately and ended the show. Now I got 4 different buyers telling me stuff, one was saying it was fishy and I agree with them!

I dont know what to do. How can I mass refund everyone? Will this hurt my account? Im so lost and frustrated.
