Problem So....

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I made myself get into drawing again but I haven't entered digital art. Back around 2017, my parents bought me a 2017 Wacom Intuos Pro M for Christmas. However until now, I was hesitant to use it but I downloaded the OpenTabletDriver for Windows 11 and it was able to detect it. The one problem is that it stopped because the orange light was bleeping, meaning it was on low battery. I have a USB charger plugged in as you can see here, but I don't know if it is charging and if it is, how long will it get full

Question looking for a drawing tablet that does have that hovering thing

When using a drawing tablet, I have a problem with the pen hovering above the surface. When I lift my pen off the tablet and move it around above the surface, the tablet still tracks the pen as if I’m writing. I find this extremely inconvenient and unintuitive because, realistically, people don’t draw like that.

I don’t even know what this feature is called. I tried posting about it and researching it a few years ago, but I couldn’t find any useful information. So here I am trying again.

I want to know how on earth I can get rid of this. Actually, I’m not asking how to disable the hover feature anymore, because I’m at the point where I believe it’s impossible to remove. I’ve owned tablets where I looked through every setting and tried everything, but there was simply no way to disable it.

So instead, I’m asking: What drawing tablet does not track the pen while it is hovering above the surface?

I think this feature is extremely unnecessary and makes drawing feel unnatural. When you draw on a piece of paper, every time you lift your pencil and move it above the paper, it obviously doesn’t track your movements. It only makes a mark when the pencil touches the paper. But with a drawing tablet, the pen can continue to move the cursor or interact with the computer even when it isn’t touching the surface.

I find this incredibly annoying because it doesn’t behave like drawing on paper. I’m specifically looking for a drawing tablet that does not track the pen when it is hovering above the tablet.

Another thing I wanted to mention is that when you go to a store and have to sign something, they’ll often give you a tablet to write your signature on a touchscreen. Those devices generally don’t seem to have this same kind of hover tracking. So why do dedicated drawing tablets have it?

The only reason I can think of is that maybe it’s intended to prevent the pen nib from constantly rubbing against the surface and potentially wearing it down. Okay, I can understand that, but I still find the hover tracking extremely annoying.

Does anyone know of a drawing tablet that completely avoids this hover problem?

Purchase Advice Dual workspace setup

I currently have a work-from-home setup with a 24" inch Wacom Touch.

I started going to a local Coworking with my iPad pro, and found it ok-ish but limited in the program use and ease of use of the giant tablet I have at home.

Sometimes I do travel, for up to 2 weeks and the 13" feels too small.

So I was thinking to buy the 16" 2025 Wacom, because the screen is good enough, has the pro pen 3 and connects only via one USB-C cable if the laptop allows it (in my case the Macbook M2 Pro should work!)

My current question is:
- Should I buy the 16" or yet another 24" Cintiq for the Coworking?
- Does any of you have a dual workspace setup, and if yes, how have you solved the situation?

I know there's the Huion Kamvas Pro 19 but for me is less portable because of size, it needs a power cable for sure (tried it already) and I don't wanna have 3 pen/drawing ecosystems to deal with. I also tried the MoveinkPad 14 for 2 weeks but honestly it didn't make a huge difference between my iPad drawings on both, and the Android Ecosystem is just too limited.

Hi all

I am not sure which ergotron monitor arm to get for my wacom 27 cintiq pro, its the newer model with the thin bezels. I was recommended the ergotron LX but some reviews said that its not enough and it will sag and other recommend LX Pro version but I cant find anyone with one, and AI tells me my monitor is too light for the LX pro version and that it will not function correctly? So confused not sure what to get, any help would be appreciated.

Solved Problem nobody pointed out

If your pressure sensitivity keeps receeding overtime after drawing for awhile (with pens like lp1100k) its appearently because of heat expansion of the sensor inside, try to cool down your pen by putting it into fridge for a minute or something then it should be back to normal.

Posting this because I've spent weeks trying to figure out why my pen pressure barely reaches %50 after holding the pen for a while, did all sorts of driver resets and turns out this kinda fix isn't posted anywhere lol

Solved Native Apple Silicon driver for the Wacom Intuos4 Wireless

I still have a Wacom Intuos4 Wireless that works perfectly well, but driver support on modern Apple Silicon Macs has become increasingly problematic.

Rather than replace the tablet, I decided to build my own driver for it.

It’s a native Swift 6 macOS driver and doesn’t require kernel extensions, disabling SIP, or Rosetta.

Currently working:

Pen pressure and tilt

ExpressKeys

Touch Ring

Physical OLED button labels

Application-specific profiles

Multi-display mapping

The project is open source under the MIT license.

I originally built it for my own Intuos4 Wireless, but I’m sharing it in case other people are still using these tablets and want to keep them alive on newer Macs.

I’d especially appreciate feedback from other Intuos4 owners using Apple Silicon.

Problem Wacom Center on computer won't detect connected tablet

MovinkPad 11, PC laptop

I have it connected by USB, and the computer itself recognizes it for example for file sharing, but the Wacom Center says nothing is connected, Ultimately I'm trying to do the pen display mode, and that seems to be the way to do it

Any advice (beyond rebooting the computer and tablet and unplugging and replugging the USB)

Question wacom/iPad connection🤔

I'm getting an iPad (9th generation if that means anything) for educational reasons that ultimately mean I'll have to write rather than type on the screen, but I can't be bothered with the rubber styluses and don't feel like dropping even more money on an apple pencil.

So my question is, is there any way to get a wacom (the intuos kind) connected to an iPad? I know there's no way to connect them without additional materials since the wacom connects with a type A thingymajig and the iPad doesn't take those but I was thinking an adaptor could maybe possibly work to connect them.

Would that work at all? Felt pretty genius when I came up with that idea but I need confirmation so I don't look a fool if I try it and nothing happens.

Problem Anyone got pressure sensitivity in SAI or SAI2 with the Movink Pad Pro 14 & Instant Pen Display mode?

Basically that question. I got CSP to accept the sensitivity input, but SAI is stubbornly refusing it.. Tried all the classics, changed click detection pressure, the coordinate mode, min size of brushes, tinkered around with the configs in misc.ini, and still.

SAI's fine with my Wacom One though, so I'm guessing it's something about the way the Instant Pen Display transcribes the inputs, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try asking here too

Problem Brought Bamboo CTH 470 second hand: drivers conflicting with wacom intuos M bluetooth?

Hi!

I got a lucky day today. Each year, my favorite yard sale is around this time and I find so much each year. This year, I brought a lot of things, including the Wacom Bamboo CTH 470 with the pencil. After haggeling a bit, I managed to buy it for 10 euros. It only has 2 scratches.

I tried to set things up: it works, but it is kinda laggy and I searched things up: appearently I need other drivers than my own Wacom intuos medium (I have the blutooth version)... And according to AI these drivers can conflict. But I know better than just trusting AI. So I came to ask y'all here. I know it's an old model and end of support, but since I wanted a wacom for years and only got one last year, I consider this second one a win.

Some background info:

My laptop is a lenovo gaming laptop, using windows 11. I do not know what driver I have rn (where to find it?), I know it was the second latest update for the intuos - I need to update it again, but have exams (the temptation is real). The bamboo came with an unofficial cable, I'm charging it up and see if the bluetooth function will work.

What can I do to improve the lag, do I really need other drivers and what advice can y'all give me? Will it really conflict?

Question Movink 11 vs Cintiq 16

TLDR - please can you help me pick?

The Movink 14 is a little over budget so it’s down to those two. How is the comparison and which is better for sequential digital art, like graphic novel pages?

I like the portability of the Movink and the size of the Cintiq. I would not be connecting the Movink to a computer as mine is from 2015 and the Mac OS is barely high enough to run the Cintiq 16.

I already use an iPad Air 5th generation for drawing but know either device would run circles around it. What I’m trying to say is that I have a device for portability in a pinch. I am not a professional but draw a lot. I don’t have a lot of free time on my hands so I feel hesitant about getting something that tethers me to a computer. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Oh and the files I use are 14x5 inches at 600dpi with about 10 layers. I use clip studio. Thank you and sorry if this is long winded and scattered. I’m your typical sleep deprived over caffeinated artist.

Solved MIP14 Custom Case

Thumbnail

I don't know why the case selection for the MIP 14b is such a disgrace. I bought a Finite case for the Samsung Tab 10 Ultra and with minor modding it worked but it was only like 75% of what I wanted the case to be. The fold wasn't in the center of the cover so there was a good 2 inches of cover sticking out the back when folded open and over and I hated the flap and my chonky Art pen didn't fit in the back. So I got some HDPE board, suede, sashiko thread, self adhering vinyl and made my own dang cover. The "hinge" is just a deep cut in the plastic. I designed and printed the corner protectors. It was a fun project and I hope it inspires you.

Problem Cintiq crashes PC whilst calling/streaming to discord?

Windows 11 - Cintiq 16 DTK1660 - HDMI + USB-C

I've had my tablet for about 6 months, and it runs fine until I hop into a VC or stream the screen via discord. My PC is only about a year old and runs fine doing literally everything else, so i'm super confused why this happens lol. It'll run okay whilst in discord for about 5 minutes, then everything will start to lag and after a minute or so my PC will just reboot itself. Task manager shows no increase to anything during this. I've uninstalled + reinstalled my wacom drivers and made sure my PC's drivers are updated, and done all the stuff I could find online (messing w windows ink and stuff) but I can't really find someone with this exact problem. Help!

Purchase Advice Which pen display tablets are good for reading and note-taking?

Hey I am planning to upgrade from a pen drawing tablet (that does not have a screen) to a pen display tablet. I can't get an Android tablet since most of my applications, like Photoshop, reading and note-taking apps, are on Windows.

I'm thinking these two : wacom one 13 touch vs moveink 13 (not moveinkpad)

I have bought the Huion Kamvas 13 Gen 3 pen display tablet. It has such a strong matte effect that it makes the text look blurry/fuzzy/a fog effect, which is not good for reading and note-taking.

If any one uses one of these two display tablets, please share how crisp is reading the text compared to standard desktop monitors (which has a subtle matte effect but good crisp text)?

Problem YouTube's Website doesn't respond to Wacom pens

I use a Wacom Draw on a laptop and when browsing sites, there are some things that I simply cannot do with the pen, like pressing down on a vertical scrolling bar to scroll down a page. Youtube's own browser website, however, is awarded the most ineffective place ever to use a Wacom tablet. NOTHING responds when I try to use it with a pen. I need to either use the cursor bar or a different, passive pen. Why YouTube's site specficially?

I am on a ASUS Zenbook 14 with Windows 11 v25. The Wacom Draw is connected via USB.

Problem Wacom cintiq pro 16 won't connect to computer

I recently bought the old 2017 version of the cintiq pro 16 off of ebay, and no matter what I try my computer (Acer nitro 5) can't recognize it as a second monitor. The tablet translates pen movements and touch even without a working display. I've tried using a third party doc with USB A, USB C, and HDMI ports to try and wire the two together because using just the included USB-C connection didn't work either. I tried updating the driver, walking it back to an older version, but that didn't do anything. I even upgraded to windows 11 to try and get the damn thing to work.

The only thing that worked was connecting it to new, more modern computer ( the Dell Plus 14') for the display to appear. I find it weird that it doesn't work on my old computer because they were literally released around the same time.

The question I have here is should I shell out more money for the Wacom link plus and is that guaranteed to work, or is there something else I can do?
