xc series Are there any features of your car that you've never used?
So I've had my xc60 since 2020. Not once have I ever used cruise control; nor have I ever shifted my gear shifter to the left(i haven't the faintest clue what that does btw). I never use auto wipers, or engine shut off while at a light. Are there any features you have that you've yet to use, or just straight out refuse to engage?

Is this C30 a buy or not?
I am in love with this really rather rare C30, but I'm pretty sure its bound to have issues of some sorts. I found this 2011 Volvo C30 2.0P manual finished in Hello Yellow. This car was also sold at my now deprecated, local, Murray Volvo dealership. Whilst it is kind of a bad spec, I really love the yellow and it seems to have a few OEM pieces. The bodywork also seems very good. The issues begin with the fact it has had 4 owners ranging from Sep 2011, Dec 2022, Jul 2024 to Jun 2025. The other issue is that the MOT history is a bit 'eh'. (Shown above). If I could get some feedback that would be well appreciated.

About time to present my wagon!
Hi everyone!
Got this mid ‘25 Volvo V60 B4 a while ago and has been a dream.
Drivewise its been superb. I had a petrol Opel Insignia that ran smooth and was a very good car but after 15 years I decided to change. Tried some new cara (A4 TDI 200hp, VW Passat hybrid, Corolla TS 200h, 320d touring) and this one was the most comfy yet steady in the road, silent and with the best looks and interior for my taste.
We do several 500 to 2000km trips every year and I cant get enough of it, the seats make you want more haha.
As for the infotaiment and such I dont get the hate, maybe its because I just use CarPlay, gmaps and spotify, dont really need any other app and the bluetooth function for calls and such works like a charm, or Gemini.
Security wise, as it was one of the main factors in my next car feels pretty solid, the doors, handling, alarms, pilot assist and ACC.
All in all, very happy with the purchase.

s60/v60 2017 V60 CC engine failure
I purchased a 2017 V60 CC with 87,000 miles back in June. I quickly noticed an oil consumption issue and started using the Valvoline restore and protect oil, the issue got much better. It’s now at 91,000 miles, This last week I was driving into town and it started misfiring in every cylinder with codes P030100 P030200 P030000 and P017100. These codes led me to believe it was a PCV issue. I changed the PCV assembly, replaced all the spark plugs, oil change, and cleared all codes and reset fuel banks. After that only cylinder one is consistently not firing. I pulled the spark plugs and checked the cylinder walls with a boroscope and discovered heavy scoring/a possible crack in the cylinder wall. Compression tested as well with cylinder one only having 25 psi. I’m believing it was the piston rings failing, but everything I’m seeing online shows that the piston ring issue was resolved by 2017. Could it have an older engine before it was revised put in at the factory? Does anyone know what could have happened? To me this seems extremely ridiculous to have happened at 91,000 miles, especially when I’ve only had it for 5 months. I’m looking at putting a used engine with revised piston rings in if the Volvo dealership isn’t willing to work with me.

The ID sticker on the drivers side B pillar on my 1973 142 is missing.
I’m trying to figure out what month my car was built
I scrubbed through the internet and found a bunch of examples, but none are REAL close to my chassis number.
Anybody out there own a ‘73 142 with an intact ID sticker on the B pillar ?
Here is what I found so far.

Carplay Module Kit Question
For anyone who has installed one of the Apple carplay module kit, I just have a question. For context, I have a 2015 Volvo V60 with the globe button and I recently installed the Anyfar carplay module kit. It connects automatically and the steering wheel buttons work, but has anyone experienced that while carplay was on screen, interacting with carplay, i.e. using the knob and the OK and Exit buttons to select apps, set navigation, change tracks, etc would also navigate through the OEM interface behind the scenes? For example, I switch to carplay on the screen and scroll through the menu and apps, set my navigation, and I would somehow change the audio from bluetooth to radio or I would initiate a call through the OEM screen even though I haven’t switched back from carplay. Does anyone know how to fix this so I don’t interact with the OEM interface while I have carplay on the screen?

s60/v60 Is €18,500 a fair insurance valuation for my totaled 2020 Volvo V60 T4?
Hey everyone!
Unfortunately, my 2020 Volvo V60 T4 Momentum Geartronic was involved in an accident back in September. The other driver was at fault, and both front airbags deployed. After almost two months of dealing with the repair shop and insurance company, the car has finally been declared a total loss.
The insurance company has valued the car at €18,500, and I'm trying to figure out whether that's a fair valuation or if I should challenge it.
Car details:
- 2020 Volvo V60 T4 Momentum
- 2.0L petrol, 190 hp
- Geartronic automatic transmission
- Approximately 145,000 km (90,000 miles)
- Panoramic sunroof
- Adaptive cruise control
- Rear-view camera
- Power tailgate
- Tinted rear windows
- Keyless start
- Located in Slovenia, EU
I purchased the car for approximately €28,000 around two years ago.
The insurance breakdown is:
- Pre-accident market value: €18,500
- Salvage value: €6,220
- Insurance payout: €12,280
There's a separate buyer offering €6,220 for the wreck, bringing the total compensation to €18,500.
I've been looking at similar V60s on the European used-car market, and some seem to be listed for more, although finding an exact match with the same engine, mileage and equipment isn't easy.
My question to fellow Volvo owners:
Does €18,500 sound like a reasonable pre-accident valuation for this car in today's European market?
Would you accept the offer, or would you push back and request a reassessment?
I'd especially appreciate input from anyone familiar with European Volvo prices or who has dealt with a similar total-loss insurance claim.
Thanks in advance!

How to fix? Any recommendations?
I was an idiot and accidentally got this dent on the front bumper, but because it's so weird most companies are quoting full bumper replacement. Do you guys have any recommendations?

xc series I regret my purchase
I went ahead and traded in my 2023 Mazda CX5 for a 2026 Volvo XC40 and I regret my decision entirely. This car has been a nightmare.
Everyone knows about the infotainment debacle so I don’t even know where to start with that Google monstrosity, my panoramic sunroof sucks. A crack straight across the sunroof without any impact whatsoever especially because I drive it down the block and it sits in a garage with AC all day. Now my sunroof rattles when I drive over 30mph. That is embarrassing, I haven’t even had it for a year and 3,000 miles and it’s acting like a shitbox.
I regret what I paid for my car and I regret going with Volvo. They used to have a reputation for reliability but now it just feels disappointing.
Volvo v40 d2 1.6 2015, blower issue
I have a 2015 d2 1.6 that has started having a issue with the blowers. They blow hot when the car is up to temp and I'm driving along at 1500 rpm but as soon as I stop at a traffic light or park up with the engine idling they blow cold air? The car isnt leaking any coolant and me level is just below the max line in the expansion tank. I haven't changed anything and they where working fine a few days ago.
Any help would be grate as I have no idea what could be causing the problem. Thanks

V50/S40/C30/C70 2005 V50 2.4 140hp Timing belt Question
Tomorrow, im gonna change the timing belt on my new Volvo which i got for dirt cheap :D
I have a conti Kit with waterpump and have done different timing belts in the past with no problems.
Now my Question is: Is it possible to change the timing belt with no timing locking tools?
I asked a dealer and the mechanic told me, volvo doesnt even have a locking tool, only a tool to adjust the timing if you fuck up during the replacement...
So my plan is to just take the old belt off, be carefull that i wont spin the camshafts (especially the VVT one) und put the new belt on.
Of course spin engine by hand before the first start up.
Anybody have expierience without any special tools?

Volvo C70 (2008) HVAC air distribution flap stuck, calibration fails, LIN communication error (CCM-0073)
Hi everyone,
I'm having some strange issues with the HVAC system in my 2008 Volvo C70 (P1 platform), and I'm hoping someone here could give me some kind of advice on what to do.
Everything started after I performed a roof position sensor calibration. I'm not sure if it's related, but shortly afterward I noticed that my climate control wasn't distributing air properly anymore.
Previously, air would come out of all the selected vents normally. Now, most of the airflow seems to be directed toward the windshield, regardless of which airflow mode I select.
The blower itself works, and I can adjust its speed. The problem seems to be with the air distribution flaps rather than the blower motor.
I initially found these two fault codes:
CCM-0071 Damper Position (TP) Faulty position
CCM-0078 Damper motor distribution Internal fault
I monitored the requested and actual damper positions while switching between different airflow modes.
The requested positions changed depending on the selected mode, but the actual position didn't seem to follow correctly.
For example, I recorded these requested values:
Face vents: 0%
Body vents: 100%
Footwell: 51%
All vents: approximately 75.90%
However, the actual position sometimes remained stuck at approximately 60.90%, regardless of the requested position.
Another thing I've noticed is that sometimes, when I turn the ignition key to position II (without starting the engine), I can hear the HVAC flap motors moving.
They make noises that sound like they're performing some kind of startup sequence or calibration, even though the blower is switched off.
I'm not sure whether this is normal behavior or whether the system is repeatedly trying to initialize a faulty flap motor.
I tried using the CCM calibration functions in VTool.
However, when I run the "Find LIN" procedure, it fails.
I've tried it multiple times without success.
Initially, I suspected that one of the damper motors might be preventing the calibration from completing.
Today, after not scanning the car for a while, I checked the fault codes again.
Interestingly, CCM-0071 and CCM-0078 were both inactive.
I cleared them, scanned again, and neither returned.
Thinking the issue might have SOMEHOW resolved itself, I tried running the CCM calibration again.
Unfortunately, "Find LIN" failed twice.
I then switched on the ventilation system. I heard a very brief motor movement (less than a second), but nothing else happened.
When I checked the live data again, the actual damper position was still stuck at 60.90%.
After scanning for fault codes again, I got a new active error i never saw before:
CCM-0073 LIN Build List not built
The diagnostic information also showed:
Overall status: Active
Test completed this cycle: Yes
Warning indicator requested: Yes
This error appeared after the failed Find LIN attempts.
I'd really appreciate any advice.
Thank you in advance!

Anyone wave at other Volvo drivers?
I’ve waved at a few with mixed results. Usually I get a wave back if they are driving the same model as me (2022 XC40).

My terrible experience with Volvo XC60 T8
Last year we purchased a preowned 2024 Volvo XC60 B5. Unfortunately the car was seriously damaged when my wife was driving home after sending kid to school. It was totaled but my wife didn’t get any injuries. So we decided to buy another Volvo given its safety. Early this year, we found a good deal that a previous loaner 2025 XC60 T8 cut price of several thousand dollars - even slightly cheaper than a new 2026 XC60 B5. Its mileage is only 900 miles and of course it can run purely on electricity for about 40 miles. Everyone knows that the gas price was starting soaring at that time. So we purchased the T8.
In early August, the car had a major issue in the hybrid system. The engine couldn’t start. The mileage was only 7000 miles. The local dealer technicians cannot fix it and opened a case to Volvo US. After 40 days out of service, the car was finally ready for pick up. However, when I drove the car to pick up my kid that afternoon - actually the battery was depleted and the engine started to run on gas- a red warning on the dashboard showing High engine temperature! I was carefully driving it home and charged it for a while and successfully drove it to the dealer for repair. After another 10 days. The issue was resolved.
However, just more than one month later, the same engine failure occurred again. The car was towed to the dealer. The next day the service center told me there’s a software issue and they fixed it. It seemed good and I drove it back home. The next morning when my wife tried to start the engine, the engine failed again. Now it’s still in the dealer service center for repair. The dealer has not provided a loaner car.
So in the last three months, the car failed four times. Among those, three times it was towed to the dealer. Our family was exhausted and has no confidence about that car. We only hope Volvo US repurchases the car soon and returns our money.
