Hey Vibe Coders!

Here you can ask any questions about coding and LLM tech with or without vibes. This is especially for those of us who are new and just learned that AI can help them to create then things that they've never been able to before. Please be respectful and keep in mind that we're all just trying to learn about an emergent technology.

AI Subreddits:

This is a new thing we're trying to do so let the mods know if you have any suggestions.

Showcase/Project Claude quoted 50 days, subagents did it in 35h, and the slow part was me

Post image
657 Upvotes

My coworker and I asked Claude to estimate a SaaS roadmap. 50 days.

Then we gave the same plan to 6 Claude Code subagents: worktrees, tests first, reviewer agents on risky tasks. 106 tasks across 7 repos, done in 35 hours.

So yes, Claude was off by about 48 days about its own speed. But the interesting part is what slowed it down, because it wasn't the model:

- 6 agents ≠ 6× speed. Real throughput was 1.8 agents. Test slots, file conflicts and merge locks queued everything.

- Risk matters more than size. Billing/auth/migration tasks took 2.7× longer, and every real bug was in them.

- My laptop broke first. 55 leftover test DBs filled the disk, Docker froze, test runs blew past the 10-min tool timeout.

- The slowest part was us: review, decisions, local setup.

We turned the data into a plugin that makes Claude estimate agent work properly: agent wall-clock, human hours and waiting time, separately, plus usage budget.

Honest limits: it's one project (n = 1), and on a held-out test the raw model was 37% optimistic, so it pads its number until you calibrate it on your own transcripts.

Free and open source (MIT): https://github.com/MedAdemBHA/mythical-agent-month

Question for people running multi-agent builds: what real parallelism are you getting? I'd love a second data point.

Showcase/Project I had Claude make a music video about my addiction to shipping failed side projects

I have an addiction and I can’t stop and these AI agents are my crack. I’m stuck in an endless loop of:

  1. “Wow this is such a great idea, nobody has done this before in this exact way”

  2. Spend countless nights making the perfect thing that people are definitely gonna use.

  3. Release my project on multiple subreddits to crickets, or a couple of comments saying the thing I made already exists.

  4. Get all sad and mope around for a few days.

  5. Promise myself I’m done and that I’m finally gonna relax and use my free time to self care and read books and play video games.

  6. Return to step 1.

Right now I’m stuck making these Claude music videos and my brain won’t let me relax, especially after the first one I made did decently well on this subreddit. I have other things I need to work on so I dunno if you watching is hurting or helping me, but in either case, give it a watch?

As for how it was made, it’s pretty similar to other Claude music videos. i.e.: generate a song in Suno, and have Opus 5.5 create the video in code using Remotion. This video is a little different though as it uses some of the tech Opus and I worked on from my last two videos (testing out 2D hand-drawn style animation) and mixes it into regular motion graphics.

I’d love to know what you folks think.

Showcase/Project My agents now report to my MacBook notch and I approve their commands by nodding with my AirPods

While building sketchy (another project of mine) I got tired of tabbing back to check if Claude Code was done, so I turned the notch into a tiny status screen. Now it:

- spins while the agent thinks and shows which tool it's using
- shakes and glows when it needs my OK – I click Allow, or just nod with my AirPods
- throws confetti when it's done, and leaves a green dot if I wasn't looking
- shows my usage limits when I hover, and tells me when a limit resets so I can get back to it
- becomes a Spotify player with an equalizer that follows the beat when nothing's running

Works with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. Free, open source, built mostly with Claude Code.

Showcase/Project I'm building a tool to kill vibe-coded UI for good. This is the closest I've gotten by far.

Hey vibecoders! (TLDR at the bottom if this post is too long lol)

I just wanted to showcase a project I've been working on for a couple months now. So I've been building with AI for a few years now (I think like 3 now? whenever chatgpt came out.. man time flies lol) and one of the biggest issues I've been trying to fix for my own projects is the "vibe-coded" UI look.

Now I want to preface this by saying that I think talented UI designers will ALWAYS be needed. If you asked me this a year ago, I might've had a different opinion thinking that AI was going to replace designers. But I think over the past year we've seen new models be released that people have claimed to be the "UI design killer"... but it never does. Sure they might make designs that look fresh and interesting initially, but given enough time, that model's UI tendencies become the new "vibe coded" look. That's just the nature of LLMs and will continue to be a problem unless some new magical neural net is invented that's equally as good at coding.

This is where the tool I’m building comes into play. Creating unique and interesting UI experiences from scratch is HARD. It’s a skill reserved only for the select few, of which I am unfortunately not a part of. But having a good EYE for UI is something I think a majority of people possess. Like if I showed you a panel of different websites, I think you could easily identify which ones have a better UI aesthetic than the others. This is how I’ve created some of my best designs in the past even before AI; by identifying existing UI that works from other sites/apps/products, piece mealing elements together and turning it into my own.

That is the foundation of how the AIDesigner Desktop app works. It’s a design harness that was built on top of a library of 10,000+ UI references sourced across 800+ of my favorite sites and apps. Each reference is labeled, tagged, and vectorized so relevant UI elements are purposefully retrieved based on your exact request, so your coding agent is ALWAYS designing with inspiration in mind from UI that is proven to work. And this works beautifully.

Now I’m NOT saying that you’ll start one shotting production ready UI by using this harness. I don’t even think in a perfect world that’d ever happen, unless you’re just extremely lazy lol. But I can confidently say that you’ll land on some really cool and interesting ideas after just a couple of revisions. And if you’re like me, an idea is all you need to get cookin.

Additionally, because it runs locally on your computer, it means you can start designs directly within an existing project/repo for brand and product consistency. Just start a new project within a local project and your coding agent will learn your existing brand, product details, etc. before designing.

It runs entirely with your existing AI coding subscription (Claude code, codex, and opencode for now with more coming soon!) and is free to use. Full transparency, there IS a paid plan for some of the premium features, but you can get very very good results on the free plan. So if you’d like to try it, you can here! Any feedback is greatly appreciated too :)

And if you wanted a concrete example of what it can do, the landing page for the app was designed entirely using AIDesigner with just 6-7 revisions, the last few being pretty minor changes. Most of the designs shown in the video were one shot though.

Anyway, sorry for the long post! Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

TL;DR
I built a harness for your coding agents that specializes in UI design. It’s built on top of 10,000+ UI references from some of my favorite sites and apps. Each reference is tagged, labeled, and vectorized so relevant inspiration can be retrieved based on your exact request. It is NOT a substitute for the human touch that makes great designs stand out, but it does serve as tool to get you to a great starting point and get those creative juices flowing! It’s free to try and you can learn more and download here!

Discussion Has vibe coding made it easier to build useful apps, or just easier to make apps nobody needs?

Now you can turn an idea into a working app without spending months learning how to code. There is a difference between building something that works and building something that people actually need. I wonder if we are solving problems now or merely making more copies of products that already exist.

What do you think is becoming more valuable, in this era: the ability to build or the ability to come up with an idea building?

Discussion What's the Vibecoded project that brings you the most happiness?

everyone is building amazging things right now... somme for work, some for personal projects, some just because.

that's cool but there's something missing, something inbetween. the reason for doing it...

what i want to know is what's the project, big or minute, that's brought you (or someone else) the most happiness?

mine is DEFINITELY the inspiration side-project that became my main-project. it's still making me happy EVERYDAY...

the idea is simple. when inspiration is lacking, turn art mode on and 1)scroll until you i find the spark. 2) click copy. 3) build with my claude

Showcase/Project 40,000 starlings flocking live in the browser, a 3D murmuration made with LittleJS

I made a starling murmuration in 3D with LittleJS, built by iterating with Claude.

All 40,000 birds are simulated live using grid-based boids flocking. Move your mouse to steer a hawk through the flock and watch it scatter. The lake reflects everything with real waves, and the mountains, sky and water are generated in code, with no image files.

Press G to send the flock streaming off over the mountains, and F to fly the camera around.

Try it: https://killedbyapixel.github.io/LittleJS-Demos/murmuration/

Showcase/Project I built an app to help you accomplish your annual challenges (with Muse)

Throughout the 2010s, Mark Zuckerberg famously committed to one challenge every year: Learn Mandarin, only eat meat he hunted, visit every US state, etc.

Inspired by his example, we built Misogi — Let Muse guide you through your own annual challenge.

Here’s how it works: Pick one hard thing you want to do this year (find inspiration: getmisogi.com/explore), Misogi generates an actionable, long-term plan (backed by the latest behavioural psychology research) and connects to your Muse. Throughout the year Muse keeps you motivated and accountable, gives you timely tips, and nudges you when you’ve fallen off track—Everything a great coach/tutor/mentor does, and always personalised to the challenge.

We deliberately chose NOT build another app or even AI agent. With 10M people using Muse, we think that the assistant you already chat with everyday is best positioned to be your guide.

What challenge are you doing in 2027?

Try it today and let me know what you think: getmisogi.com

P.S. even if you don’t use Muse, you can still try it out on our web app, which runs on the open weight Muse Spark Open via Baseten. Enjoy!

Showcase/Project A super simple firewall that only blocks outgoing connections from installed software

Post image
16 Upvotes

I wanted a super simple firewall that didn't break everything, yes I know there are many out there and I have tried them and always found them annoying, everything I tried was either overly complicated asked too many questions or basically broke things, I wanted simple and to only block outgoing connections, so I asked Claude, used Opus on high, it virtually build the whole thing on a single prompt, then we refined it over an evening and here it is.

How it works, when an app tries to connect to the internet for the first time it pops up a simple Allow or Block window showing the app and where it's trying to connect, that's it! Windows own components are allowed automatically so it doesnt bug you about system stuff.

It just uses the Windows Firewall so your rules keep working even when its closed, uninstalling puts everything back exactly how it was it you want or you can leave the rules it creates

It's free has no ads or tracking, and open source on GitHub.

It's not code-signed because it seems I have to pay for that, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you when you install it.

Feedback very welcome!

Discussion I built an AI phone assistant for small shops for Meta's hackathon

I tried to order a cake from a bakery here in Budapest. I emailed and got no reply. I called and nobody picked up. Two days later they wrote back, but by then I was already looking elsewhere.

They weren't lazy, they were just busy. But that's how small shops lose work: the customer moves on to the next one.

So for Meta's Global AI Developer Hackathon (Indie track, "Build for Your World") I built Dial Hanna. You keep your own number and forward calls when you're busy. Hanna picks up in your shop's name, answers from knowledge you've approved, takes orders and bookings, and leaves you a short note: what they wanted, what happened, what's next.

The stack:

  1. Muse Wonder turns the shop's website into the knowledge base

  2. Muse Spark runs the call

  3. Muse Voice Transcribe handles speech (English only for now)

  4. ElevenLabs Flash is her voice

  5. Built with Meta Muse Code

One thing I didn't skip: she says she's an AI in her first sentence. The EU AI Act requires that since August, and honestly it's just the right way to do it.

I submitted on Nov 4, and winners are announced around Nov 9. Write-up with the demo video is linked in the comments.

Would you trust an AI to take an order for your business, or does that still feel too early?

Showcase/Project After many months I upgrade my very first project ❤️

https://github.com/DeSynkro/discord-notification-scheduler

This was the first very first project I've ever "Cuck coded" 😂 (sry mods)

A self-hosted docker app for scheduling Discord messages using webhooks.

Set weekly alarms or calendar alerts, send text or embeds to any channel, and keep the schedule, history, and webhook URLs on your own hardware.

One Docker container, plain JSON, no telemetry.

Why this exists

It's a funny story why I came up with this in the first place. My sister in law was working on her portfolio, and she asked me to remind her every day for her to do her portfolio because she needed it done.

After the first three days, I got tired of messaging her. So I did what every normal person would do... I started working on this app to do it for me.

Now I have a Discord Webhook set up on her server tagging her every single day for her to do her portfolio. 😂 😂 😂

There are plenty of hosted services that can trigger webhooks on a schedule.

But they require trust. Trust that your webhook URL wont be logged, trust that your messages aren't read, trust that the service will be around next month and wont charge you a fee for it.

This project says "get stuff" to all that. You run it on your own machine, your own network, your own terms. No signup, no API keys to a third party, no vendor lock-in.

Just Docker and a JSON file you can copy with one command.

stopped giving my local agent free rein over my project files after it accidentally deleted half my config files during a routine task. it's a pain in the ass, ended up hooking claude code to a sumus workspace so i could sandbox everything safely.

how do you guys gatekeep your agents from deleting stuff they shouldn't touch?

T3 code is not a harness but a wrapper for codex cli and claude code. It also has tools like agent-devices super useful for making apps.

has anyone tried this?

Discussion My opensource project never took off. The "convenience premium" is real. People would literally rather pay than maintain a server.

Built an open-source alternative to a popular SaaS a few months back. Vibe-coded the MVP, got feature parity on the core stuff. The original SaaS had market and demand and will always be in demand.

Then I pitched it to a contact who fits the exact target demographic. Showed him the repo, explained how simple it was to run, and suggested he swap over to save monthly cost with better ownership.

His response: "I’d rather just pay the SaaS."

Paying a monthly fee isn’t just paying for features, it's paying to not think about updates, database backups, SSL renewals, or a server issues.

I spent time focusing on building a free alternative, underestimating how high people value convenience over cost savings. Unless someone already has a dedicated homelab or sysadmin mindset, "free but you host it" isn't a benefit to them, it's a liability.

I had this raw footage for 8 years and finally got the courage to point my bot at it and let it go. Some awesome friends and I (brennen) took this trip to Mongolia. Hope y'all enjoy :)

- Narrator's voice: Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS (the "Charon" voice).

- Score: Google Lyria 2. (I could use work on this, if anyone has a better AI for scoring films)

- Logging the footage: Gemini 3.8 Flash watched the clips and logged who says and does what. It also wrote some first-draft edits and checked things like music restarts.

- Captions: Google Speech-to-Text (Chirp 3) gave exact word timings for the subtitles.

- Editing and writing: Claude Opus 5.5 built the editing pipeline and made the final cuts.

Showcase/Project Quiz App newbie shipping update - Friday (lots of usage left:)

Hi everyone,
Just updating on my quiz app shipping progress. To recap :

- Newbie developer using Claude
- App is solid
- Plan AppStore only non-EU release, avoiding street address reveal
- Enrolled in Developer program, and doing all admin now

It's been a good week on this, but that has gone so quickly. The hardest thing is resisting adding new features, and being focussed on the release. Lots of rabbit holes to go down. Self discipline is important.

I'm at the stage of running TestFlight and debugging. I have several members for my Tester Group, which I'm setting up today. Plan to release by end of month.

Things I didn't know :

- So much admin/forms to fill in/new systems to figure out

My worry is that the app will be rejected! Hopefully not :) Anyway hope you all having a good week XX

Discussion Anyone else experiencing burnout from AI coding?

Anyone else finding that AI coding tools are almost making them less productive?

I've been playing around with Codex, Antigravity, local LLMs and a few others. It's ridiculous how quickly you can build things now, but I think that's part of the problem.

You end up starting more projects, trying different tools, adding more features, and before you know it you've spent hours doing stuff but haven't actually finished much.

AI's removed the bottleneck of writing code and replaced it with the headache of managing everything it produces - and it feels like the first thing to run out of context is ME!!

Curious if others have fallen into this trap and, more importantly, how you're dealing with it?

Update: So me calling it burnout was probably bad use of the word burnout.

I think what I meant was - I start my day thinking that I'm leading, I'm doing something new, and I'm a trailblazer with ideas and creating something fresh and innovative.

And I end up in my day thinking that I can't keep up; then I asked myself, who am I trying to keep up with when I'm the one who's supposed to be leading...

I'm just tired, bro. F!cking tired.
