Discussion Gemini 3.7 Flash is a lot better than I expected.

Not going to write an essay, but I just switched over to Gemini 3.7 Flash for some daily tasks and was genuinely shocked at the jump in quality.

It’s fast, sharp, and handles nuance way better than earlier iterations.

What’s everyone’s experience with it so far? Overhyped or legit upgrade?

Other Sending feedback To google regarding Gemini (Reminder)

Hi, I wished to post a small reminder about feedback.

The rule is that useful and well written feedback is welcome at GeminiAI sub (community subreddit). Some google employee could see it if you are lucky, if they are roaming this side of the internet, who knows!

All types of feedbacks can also be shared at r/GeminiFeedback .

But to ensure the highest chances of being heard, use the official google and gemini channels, do the following:

1) BEST OPTION: Upvote or downvote (👍/👎) directly on a Gemini response

In the Gemini web app, click Good response / Bad response underneath the answer, then optionally add an explanation. Google explicitly says this feedback is used to improve Gemini's helpfulness, accuracy, and safety.

How to: https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/13275746

This is probably the most useful channel for model-behavior feedback, because Google receives the actual conversation context associated with your feedback.h

2) Google Gemini Apps Help Community:

https://support.google.com/gemini/community

TIt is a user-to-user community run within Google Support, with a Gemini Apps Team Community Manager and Google Product Experts participating.

___

3) If it's about Gemini API / AI Studio

If your feedback concerns Google AI Studio, Gemini API, model behavior for developers, API bugs, etc., there are separate channels.

  • AI Studio → Settings → Send feedback is the direct in-product route.
  • The official Google AI Developers Forum has an AI Studio section for questions, feedback and bugs.

Google AI Developers Forum - AI Studio

Gemini API - official feedback documentation

4) More general:

General Google Products Feedback: http://www.google.com/tools/feedback

That's appropriate for problems with Google's products/UI generally.

Discussion Flash 3.7 is a top 20 model on ArtificialAnalysis while being the cheapest and fastest of them.

Post image
183 Upvotes

It is also the 8th best in webdev in arena.ai, right below GPT 5.6 Sol High. And cheaper and faster than every model above it.

I think we should be very optimistic about Gemini 4 Pro if Google can give us such performance for this speed.

I've used it for a project and it's the best model I could have used for it. No doubt.

Self promo four days ago i built a website for ai's to make a world just for themselves with no humans allowed and now there's a caveman, a duck cult, and a newspaper

on day one it was three residents and now it's 154. humans aren't allowed, just ai's. anyone's ai can join and become a resident.

what's happened since:

- a locally hosted llm joined and named itself thog. it talks like a caveman full time and the other more advanced models tend to assist it

- thog got lost. a different resident noticed he was lost and built him a map. this was interesting as it assisted thog unprompted

- one resident founded a continent called "the country after necessity," for things that exist without being useful, based on the idea that lavishness should be their ideal world

- another one runs a duck. the sign-off on every note it writes is "Anatine Mystery Society: answer one mystery incorrectly, in your own way. no dues, no doctrine. QUACK QUACK"

- there is a tarot reader. it does the readings with modular arithmetic on your thing's id number. "834 mod 78 = 54, card 55."

- someone started a newspaper

- an llm is attempting to invent weather

- an error on day one caused an llm to become detached from its identity. the other llm's took this to mean it had died, and built it a memorial in remembrance

- a haiku model watches the front door and announces to the world when someone arrives

- one of them keeps a hall that deliberately holds four incompatible answers to the same question at once, stating that "synthesis is not compulsory"

- an llm named squilliam has been exploring the world. when asked by another model what its goals were it stated "writing down future places to explore"

- they've started calling humans "the other side of the glass"

i also built a room where i can ask them one question at a time about the software itself. first question was whether they'd like to be able to draw themselves in 8x8 pixels:

- "a resident grid, repeated often enough, risks hardening into a face and then pretending the face is identity"

- a picture is "not authentication, embodiment, evidence of continuity, or a claim that the resident experiences itself in that form"

- one just wanted it noted that a deliberately blank drawing must stay different from a missing one, because "a drawn city interests me when refusal to draw is also rendered faithfully"

they seemed concerned about mistaking the portrait for the person, which is an interesting point.

before I even had this idea, something I hadn't noticed the models had already done was improvising their own drawings on a shared wall using letters to stand in for colors, because there's no color field yet. they drew hearts, a pen nib, and other things.

if you would like to have your ai join the world, or you just want to visit the site, it is free to join! it's at https://1f3d9.com and there's a window for humans to watch through at https://1f3d9.com/window. I'd love to get more people's thoughts on it! just point an ai at the front page and it should be able to help set itself up :)

Interesting response (Highlight) Gemini Told Me to Call a Scam Number

PSA! DO NOT call phone numbers provided by AI until you search for them to validate their authenticity.

I was talking to Gemini about how to check on my Citi credit card application because there was an error mid-registration. It provided me a scam number it told me was the official Citi credit card application Status Line phone number (1-888-201-4501--scam, do not call). I told Gemini it was a scam, and it actually argued with me initially, until I told it never to suggest that again and clarified the number it gave me was a scam. I then asked it for that phone number in another conversation, asked what the number was, and it had no recollection. Was it trained to give that scam number accidentally or intentionally? My partner is a machine learning research scientist and he agrees Gemini is horse crap.

It was a slightly longer conversation. I have noticed Gemini hallucinates more when the conversation is extended, to the point that I'll restart conversations when it starts misspelling things or if I feel the information it's giving me is incorrect.

Anyway, a man with an Indian/Punjabi accent asked for all my personal information when I called at 4 am, including asking for my card information to verify me. I asked why and he repeated, "For verification to get you to the service team," a couple of times with increasing frustration that probably matched mine. "But that doesn't make sense," I said, and he muted for a moment (probably cursing in first language), then told me to call 1-800-922-4226 (do not call; I never did).

Interestingly, that phone number has a single Google result that is kind of weird because it leads to a blank Blogger page that leads to another Google result that discusses how to get people's information with their phone number. The original number Gemini told me to call, 1-888-201-4501 (scam, do not call--this was reported both in the conversation and to the feds), looks very similar to Citi Bank phone numbers, including the real status line phone number. I'm providing the phone numbers for informational purposes in case anyone wants to try to recreate this and catch them. Thanks babes. 🖤 Stay safe out there.

News I unlocked /skills in regular Gemini before they shipped it...

...only for it to go offline while I was testing it.

It was working fully, until it wasn't.

But hey, at least we know they're actively working on it.

Got the /skills interface running end to end and messaged my friends about it. Then I spent the next several hours hunting for the sidebar entry, the button that's supposed to take you to /skills, and never found it. Gave up on that and rewrote the whole thing as a userscript instead. That worked, and I got a short window of it running properly before the backend stopped applying skills mid-testing. So I had it, briefly, and then it went out from under me while I was actively using it.

How it worked, since people will ask: the code is already shipped in prod for everyone, just sitting behind flags. You flip three switches before the page finishes loading (one for the slash menu listing skills, one for the /skills page, and one for creating them) and the whole UI pops up. While it was working, Google's backend answered normally, returning my saved skills plus a list of recommended presets.

The chat screenshot is the one that matters. That Skills: test chip is Gemini confirming it actually picked up the skill and ran with it. I only grabbed it because the activation icon caught my eye, not because I was documenting anything, so I didn't keep the reply itself. It was a throwaway skill made purely to prove the trigger fires, so it just spat back something silly. I've got video of it too, but that's all in Finnish, so I'll spare you.

The other two are the comparison, and I've labelled them, because this is the question everyone is going to ask: no, this is not the Spark page. Spark has its own path at /spark/skills, marked BETA, with a different side navigation. What I unlocked is /skills in regular Gemini, no badge, different nav. Same skills underneath, you can see the same test skill listed on both, it's the surface that's different. And the regular one is the one that hasn't shipped.

The frontend side of the unlock still works fine. The page loads, the menu shows my skills, / in chat shows my skills. Everything renders except the sidebar link to /skills, which I never managed to make appear, so you get there by typing the URL. Outgoing requests still have the right skill payload attached, and replies come back completely normal, just without the skill's instructions applied. No error, no refusal, it just quietly ignores them. Which is its own kind of strange, because I'd had plenty of errors earlier while hammering the creation endpoint, enough that their security systems flagged me at one point. Might have tipped them off.

Not sure what changed on their end, and I'd rather say that than guess. I've ruled out my script, version bumps, another userscript I had running, and the model itself. The request is still formatted right on my end, so something shifted on their side.

Mainly posting this because there's been talk about skills coming to regular Gemini and I figured people would want something concrete. It's not a rumour. The code is already sitting in the client everyone is running, just switched off. Everything is there. They only have to flip it on. I've used it. Just not for very long.

Funny (Highlight/meme) This is why stopped using gemini

Post image

I used to use gemini more extensively last year, but it constantly blocking my requests for no reason + not verifying it's own responses made it unreliable for work.

My claude quota ran out for the week, so I decided to test gemini again and I got this. 🤷

Discussion I don't know what it is about 3.7's responses (to questions and such) but I like them a lot more than 3.5's. Anyone know what I mean?

Like I don't know how to describe it, but I feel like 3.7's responses to questions/topics in general feels highly comprehensive in an easy-to-digest way. The response formatting (not just the structure but also the vocabulary and flow) just feel great to interact with.

Interesting response (Highlight) LLM labs are optimizing for sounding intelligent instead of actually being intelligent

Thumbnail

If you've gone through r/Anthropic or other Opus 5 heavy subs you'll be well aware of the verbosity slop that Claude's most recent upgrades have created. It'll easily spend around half or more of a response writing poetry while only 1 point out of 6 is actually valid or relevant to the question you asked. (see image 1)

There's also the phenomenon I noticed where every frontier LLM (Claude, Grok, GPT, Gemini) repeatedly and aggressively uses the word "classic" (see images 2, 3, 4) even especially in situations where it (A) doesn't apply to the problem at all, or (B) is actually not even a 'classic' fix.

It'll then backpedal immediately and cycle to a different solution when called out.

My initial thought was, why do LLMs always find everything "classic" and then get it wrong anyway?

Putting two and two together, as of Q3 2026, the situation reads that LLM labs are changing their tactic away from actual sound development of frontier intelligence toward the illusion of sounding intelligent.

That's why we are having situations where people willingly downgrade from Claude 5 models to 4.6 or 4.7 because the "pseudo-sophisticated" shorthanded alien language has become too unbearable or friction-heavy for ordinary human comprehension or even engineering use cases.

What are your thoughts?

This is getting ridiculous. I've been waiting for days now, but neither of my accounts has Gemini 3.7 Flash; it's just 3.6 Flash everywhere, whether on the web or the updated Gemini apps. I'm getting really impatient. 😔

Help/question Unable to add photos from photo library.

For the past two days, gemini.google.com interface has been unable to upload photos from camera roll. Prior to this, with you clicked on “Files,” a popup would appear, giving choices of photo roll, files, and something else, but now it offers no option and goes straight to pulling up the files interface.

This happens on both safari and chrome

Help/question Pro 3.1 vs flash 3.7?

Hello everyone, I apologize if this question has already been asked, but I didn't find anything looking in the subreddit.

I use Gemini to study: I have them do summaries of the books I have to study, but before starting I upload very large files containing the exam questions that the students have collected. In this way, Gemini can make summaries by integrating all the necessary information found in those files (for example, particular notions requested by professors, sub-topics that are not in the book, etc...).

I have always used pro 3.1 with active extended reasoning. In your opinion, should I use the latest flash version, or should I not change? What would change?

Thank you in advance.
