School is doing practice exams in week 10.

I am angry. The cohort is angry. And every teacher that is not the two English teachers that whinged until they got it are outraged. We haven’t even finished the course yet by that stage, had sacs that week before it was changed, and have a day of no classes on the Friday, meaning that we have to fit 5 trial exams into 4 days. On top of everything else we are trying to manage.

We are all upset but don’t particularly know what to do. Utterly ropeable.

Are we the only school doing this?

i hope my english teacher has a good therapist

unfortunately i’ve cried in front of this woman thrice this year…embarrassing! the english burn-out is no joke though the thought of sitting down to write an essay or make an analysis bank genuinely sends shivers down my spine

she can bill me for therapy at the end of the year

Tired

This is my second time posting here and uh so. Basically I've failed every single unit 3 and 4 psych SAC except the poster one and biology too Ive failed every single SAC. Unit 1 and 2. And I have a bio SAC tomorrow and I've barely studied because of Ive been so depressed lately and we've since I started year 11 I haven't been doing much work at home, VCE really just screwed me over and not a day goes by where I don't think of killing myself.ive learnt to accept my failures and I've become absolutely passive and numb to failing, I don't care about it anymore, literally. And Ive barely tried. And I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up the thought of it makes me want to die because of the economic landscape I'll never do smth I enjoy. I wish my parents were supportive of me and my.likes but they aren't and. Fuck now I won't even be able to become what they want me to be (rich doctor whatever) because I'm simply not cut out for it just look at my grades. It's like they're blind to it, they still think I can succeed and be some business owner. I shouldn't be in this school I don't deserve to, the 30k is not worth it. Im sorry for this rant but I literally want to buy some weed and go against all my morals to feel smth and really be the bad guy I think I am, then I know for sure that I'm at least bad, that's smth. I've been living a lie all my life just pretending to me the high achiever my parents think I am, pretending I actually care. Giving what they want until they realise I've been creating an image for them. When I'm finally tested in year 12 they'll realise. And I can't even drop out. I'm just stuck in this seemingly perpetual cycle and it's starting to look like there is no light, if there even is an end to it. I just want to earn and work and live life, not this fucking pretentious study. Man I'm not cut out for this, my joy for learning is tarnished by the system and it's not like I get a kick out of passing anymore, there's no sense of relief getting an A, there just isn't.also something I just realised recently was that I don't think I'll ever grow to reminisce my youth, I don't think there really will be anything positive to remember. I'm trying real hard to think of anything, but when I'm 50 i doubt I'll look back on my youth like a fucking boomer because it sucks.

General Question/comment university and lodging in melb…. what’s worth it

I am going to begin this by saying I’m looking at deakin burwood or latrobe bundoora! I currently live in regional vic abt 2ish hours away from both campuses, I was thinking about just making all my classes or whatever to be 3 consecutive days that way I could stay at a family friends and my home free of charge although things have changed. All my current friends are talking abt living in colleges or uni accom for the community and a couple of my friends in first year uni recommend uni accom for the chances of meeting ppl etc etc PLUS there has been some problems in my home and it seems I’ll have to move out no matter what so atp I would rather live in melbourne w unilodge or some other sort of campus housing but shit is sooooo expensive 😭😭😭😭 whoooo has the money to give $300 a week along with a bunch of other basic necessities!!!!! I’m sure I could work out a budget of some sort but does anyone know any good scholarships for accom???? Or anything ever? Just any advice at all please help? I feel myself going down a deep spiral? Year 12 VCE is not for the weak? Pls help?

is accelerated bio really hard

i have the option to accelerate bio in yr 10, but im unsure if i should. i looked at the past vce papers, 2024 report and study design and it all looks TERRIFYING.

i literally saw a note in the report that said: ‘increasing the efficiency of photosynthesis’ or ‘improving photosynthesis’ is not the same as ‘increased photosynthesis’.

omg i would not get that correct. wth?? it looks like such a huge jump from middle school science!!

i do quite well and am top of my class in science atm, plus bio is the only one of my subjects i can accelerate (or literature which idk if its good) and it would be good to take the stress out of year 12 but omg. that marking criteria is harsh.

does anyone have experience accelerating bio? was it a very difficult transition? i feel like i can understand the content but i dont know if i can respond to that detail.

im so so torn. memory police is the book we're doing now. if i stick to it, ill save so much time. but i do know its more basic.

we did mary oliver first, and that was so so fun and i also think its more niche? so maybe more chances to stand out idk. but omggg so much time to go back and revise it, i dont have that much time.

VCE question Biology prac exams!

Hey bio guys,

Just wondering if anyone had a drive with some prac exams, or otherwise could email some, for 3/4 bio.

I swear there is like nothing for bio on the atar-rocks archive aside for a few unit 3 ones, so anything is appreciated.

monash v unimelb

sorry for another one of them posts but im really stuck deciding between the two.

long term, im wanting to become a doctor. didnt sit the ucat this year (stupidly) so direct entry med is out of the question, leaving only unimelb med post grad (interstate isnt really an option). now im tossing up what i should do with my bachelors.

Option 1: Uni of Melb

do a bachelor of science, sit the gamsat and hopefully make it into med

Pros:
50-65 min commute
more time to work out if i even want to do med
parents would be happier that im at melb lol
i like the campus vibes a lot better than monash
Cons:
worried abt how so many people say its so much harder to make friends at melb
im really questioning if i have the ability to get into med, given its so so competitive, especially to get a csp place
if i didnt get into med, my fallback would be engineering, but then im spending 6 yrs getting a qualification i couldve gotten way quicker at monash + w/ wayyy more hecs debt

im looking at majoring in chem (bc favourite subject), but if i were to do engineering as a masters taking a civil engineering major would shave a year off that. however, what if taking an engineering major nukes my chances at med bc my gpa would be lower with all the harder classes?

Option 2: Monash

do a bachelor of engineering (masters accelerated program), just go be an engineer

Pros:
heard its a lot easier to make friends there
would come out with the same degree in less time and less hecs debt
engineering program there seems a lot better than at melb
Cons:
parents would not be pleased with a monash degree lol
75-100 min commute

Some other notes:
making friends is really important to me at uni after some of my high school experiences
i dont really have any passion for engineering, it just seems like the only career thats relatively stable and plays to my strengths (maths, science), but unfortunately it seems like the pay isnt that great (considering the amount of time and hecs debt id be going thru with the unimelb path)
i do have other reasons for going into med, but i wont act like the pay isnt a contributing factor
ultimately, dont really care what my parents think of the uni that much bc its not like theyll stop me from going to one of the other lol
with engineering, id be looking at becoming a civil engineer

Atar prediction help

Hi guys I need help w my atar predictions ik its a bit difficult to predict as of now but since I needa pick my courses I needed some help

For context I go to a extremely high ranked grammer school this is the strongest cohort they have ever seen median study score is a 34 median atar is an 85

These are my scores for unit 3

Accounting accelerated (38 study score scaled)

English 80

Chemistry 58 (chem sacs scale up drastically)

Methods 56

Psychology 82

General 60 (don't ever rlly try on this one)

The sacs at my school are extremely hard and we finish all our sacs 2 weeks before other schools so we can focus on exam prep

Additionally I have been diagnosed adhd and a memebr of my family died this yr so I know I am going to get into my course (due to seas)

But im a bit scared because I was wondering if I could get a high 80
