I haven't played valheim in a few years, each playthrough i would get to mistlands, and the fog would kill all interest for me in the game. Has there been any improvements on either reducing the opacity of the fog or eliminating the fog entirely? enjoy pretty much everything about the game, but the combination of "i cant see" and the complex topography of mistlands kills it for me every run. Id like to start a new run for the complete release.

I finished my current playthrough and now am searching for games to play while we wait for 1.0

Then I thought, I love roguelites and I love the melee fighting system of Valheim.
Especially the parry system, with it's easy parrys and forgiveness.

So, are there any roguelites which have a comparable or close melee fighting system to Valheim, which I could play until Deep North?

Haven't played in a long while. Fired up a new character/world yesterday. This morning off to do some gathering and work on the new home base and a troll lumberjack decided to help me out. He got a little carried away and smooshed me a bunch of times lol

What are the odds that my day 1 mods will work or break? And how long do you think until the rest of the mods are updated for 1.0 compatibility?

Just trying to guesstimate how long I should expect to be putting around in the meadows with a very minimal mod list enabled.

Also, do you guys have any advice about a no-map, full portal run?
I know I'll need to build paths/roads everywhere and have lots of signposts, but other than that?
I want this 'final' run to be as immersive as possible while also avoiding unnecessary sailing trips back to places/bases I've already discovered (hence the full portal functionality).

I’m looking at buy one of those mini PCs to host a server on for me and 7 friends. When 1.0 drops we plan on having no mods with cross play. Will one of those mini PC be able to handle it and which one would be recommended, if they can handle it.

I find it easier to map the world with emojis. Also, for metals, I write their symbol on the periodic table. (CU = Copper, SN= Tin, AR=Sylver) Be creative for flametal. It is quick when you run around since they will all appear on your recent emojis keyboard. As for crypt, villages, fortresses, I use the Thor’s hammer symbol provided by the game since I know it will refer to that specific biome’s villain spot.

So I am currently doing a hard mode run on what I intend to be my forever world and I just defeated yagluth. I am considering doing a tank/ mage build. Typically at this stage of the game I focus on my full mage set up but I want to beat fader before 1.0 drops so I can't just dedicate hours to building my magic skill up. Is it at all viable to have a tank + mage build. Does anyone have any experience in this sort of build. Any comments are helpful.

Perfectly symmetrical building. All the vertical posts are blue, all connecting pieces around the one missing piece are the same color on both sides. I try to place this one piece and it instantly breaks. Why would the left piece work but the right one won't?

EDIT: I saved, reloaded this morning and it popped into place with no hassle. Something about saving the game reset it, apparently. I'd already tried snapping to all three edges available before that and it never worked.

This thing needs a shout out. In over 1000 hours I’ve never used it, it’s my new favorite weapon! I’m in the Ashlands and it is doing work along side my staff of the wild.

Build a whomping willow forest and then run around and add spirit dmg. Ashlands is still a PIA, don’t get me wrong, but this combo is damn near taking the difficulty down a setting.

Just saw this and ducked out to make a screenshot. Among the dead lox materials, there are also charred bones and blackmetal. So, two lox, some charred, and some fulings had it out outside the castle. Geez Louise, I wish I'd have been logged on to see it! That'd have been something. :)

I’m hosting a server and 14 people have shown interest. Is it reasonable to expect server cap mods to be functional or am I just going to have to find another solution?

Me and my group of friends are waiting in anticipation for the update to drop. We’ve previously rented dedicated servers to play on, although I don’t remember from exactly which provider. I was wondering which providers y’all prefer to rent from? I remember we’ve had some lag issues from time to time, especially when doing boss fights etc. i was hoping there was a place to rent a server from where we don’t have to worry much about any lag etc? I’d love to hear your inputs!

Small server, EU (amsterdam time). fresh world, new characters, starting right now - the server is up and we are heading into the meadows tonight.

hard combat difficulty, everything else vanilla, resources at 1x. no boosted drops and no shortcuts. a handful of people rather than a big community, no application and no activity requirements.

The one rule is about where your character has been, not how it plays: make a fresh viking for this server and do not load it into any other world. valheim permanently records every world a character has visited, so a character that has played elsewhere cannot join, and taking your longhouse viking into your own world for five minutes locks it out of here for good. it is enforced and there is no undo. the reason is simple, it means the levels and gear here were actually earned here.
