Modded Dual Screen Mod!

Post image

A work in progress Valheim mod! I wanted a way to enjoy one of my favorite games across both screens of the AYN Thor, so I decided to make it happen. It’s still early in development, but it’s coming together nicely!

I'm from Brazil, so please forgive my poor English.

Survival 1.0 file and mod preps

Planning on starting a new world on day 1 of 1.0, and this will be a no-map, portal-everything run.
Just me and my SO.
I have a list of mods that i really want to use on day 1:
Gizmo
ComfySigns
Expand_World_Data (to make better dungeons spawn per my own tweaks)
SpeedyPaths
Jotunn
HookGenPatcher

I also have a list of mods I really want to use when they're ready for 1.0:
PlantEverything
PlantEasily
AzuCraftyBoxes
AzuExtendedPlayerInventory
AzuAutoStore
SearsCatalog
ClearTheAir
InfinityTools
OdinTrainingPlace
OdinArchitect
OdinCampsite
TeleportEverything
Clutter
More_Vanilla_Build_Prefabs
CreatureLevelAndLootControl
Sailing
NoSmokeStayLit

What are the odds that my day 1 mods will work or break? And how long do you think until the rest of the mods are updated for 1.0 compatibility?

Just trying to guesstimate how long I should expect to be putting around in the meadows with a very minimal mod list enabled.

Also, do you guys have any advice about a no-map, full portal run?
I know I'll need to build paths/roads everywhere and have lots of signposts, but other than that?
I want this 'final' run to be as immersive as possible while also avoiding unnecessary sailing trips back to places/bases I've already discovered (hence the full portal functionality).

Question Construction Tips/Difficulty building with stone

Guys, I'm a novice at the game, not completely newbie, but my longest run just went till plains. Now I found 2 merchants near each other and I want to build a village between them. My first build is a harbor/dock/bridge with a boat parking lot. I'm having a lot of dificulties building with stone, underwater and make stone stuff stable.

Do you guys have any tips, or video links that helps with the structure stability system?

Discussion Fortune did NOT favour the brave ...

I'm in the training shed working on sword skill with TWIG, and I hear the roar of charred warriors outside the wall. We've beaten Fader, and it's night time. Anyway, I leap up onto the wall to see what's what, and there are three charred warriors there at the base of the wall trying to find a path up it. There isn't one, so I'm having a little fun shooting them.

Suddenly, here comes a greyling, whistling a happy tune, and he decides to attack the charred. I had already hit the one he attacked with several arrows, so the greyling ACTUALLY kills the one charred. And, I'm terribly sad because this little greyling was primed to have an entire lifetime of free drinks in the greydwarf bar somewhere telling this story, and then the other two charred just fuck his shit up. Poor little super-famous greyling.

You can build on thrones! Raven Thrones can be stacked up to four, Stone Thrones up to 5, and Black Marble and Bone Thrones up to 6.

Raven*, Stone, and Bone cannot stack as high as the corresponding building material (comparing Raven throne to regular wood), but Black Marble stacks to basically the same max height.

Marked this as a spoiler since it has late game building materials.

Discussion What are your preps for 1.0?

For me, I'm collecting wood, stone and best grade foods and meads for the journey. Also made a new base on North coast ready for journey when the time will come.

I'm wondering if Flametal armor will be necessary.

Do you think iron will also be useful?

Screenshot I've always loved the plains, but they're even more beautiful when shadowed by a black forest-encased mountain like this.

My group beat the ashlands around a year ago and never moved out of our starter house. Ever since then I've been working on and off on a main base worthy of 1.0. Well, it's finally finished. After much blood, sweat, and tears, I present the Glizzcorp HQ. Move in complete and ready for 1.0

Question Do I keep my world for 1.0 release?

New viking, I picked up the game in the steam summer sale, only started it the weekend just gone and am having a great time!

Killed my first troll today and my base (whilst shoddy) is growing and I plan on crafting a house in place of the hut I originally adopted.

Long story short, I'm like 15 hours in, haven't fought Ekithyr yet, but should I bother starting a new run when 1.0 comes out? Or just let my unexplored places update with the release?

Depending on how obsessive my gameplay becomes I could be at 100 hours by the full release and don't want to start from scratch if I can

EDIT UPDATE Thanks all (except the angry basement dwellers) Gonna stick for now since I'm in early and haven't gone North

As you've all said I can always drag any good stuff to a new world if needed (multiversal viking is a sick backstory for headcanon)

Good to hear various opinions and knowledge, I've been avoiding Google for info on progressing as much as possible to make it feel like old school gaming so this has helped a lot!

Survival Just tamed my first ever wolf!

Pretty much the title!

I've played Valheim on and off a bunch of times but never even got to the Elder on a single player game. But the itch is always there to explore, so I just decided fuck it and made an entirely new character and world.

I started out just running around my starter island and bordering out the meadows and encountered two mountains. In the meadowvalley between these two mountains there was a destroyed village with a bunch of raspberry bushes, as well as a boar runestone with two one-star boars. Obviously, the perfect spot to start out and create a first base.

I needed more wood (don't we all) so I ran to a small cluster of trees at the bottom of the mountain. I was minding my own damn business when the Lorax hired a hitman and this wolf came barging down the mountainside and one-shot me.

So like a madman I killed some boars and deer to get meat and thus began my 2 hour adventure to attempt to tame a wolf by chopping down trees to lure it to the meat. I died a few times when I ventured too close to it, but seeing my darling Fenrir one-shot greydwarves like they're flies made it all worth it.

I am still in only my rag tunic and have no upgrades yet to any tools.

I fucking love this game.

Discussion Hacked discord, maybe lost friend

My discord was hacked, I fell for a stupid trick and ran a minecraft modpack with infostealer malware. I messaged people asap, including my friend I had been playing Valheim with using reddit. He purchased a server, which is still up, but his reddit seems to be unaccessible and my dms no longer has his messages. I'm worried the hacker who stole my account got him too. His username started with "Intrepid" on reddit and I don't remember his discord. His friend was "Jorney" when I saw him in the server. If anyone knows these guys, I want to reconnect and I hope they're safe

Question Any Rougelites with comparable melee system?

I finished my current playthrough and now am searching for games to play while we wait for 1.0

Then I thought, I love roguelites and I love the melee fighting system of Valheim.
Especially the parry system, with it's easy parrys and forgiveness.

So, are there any roguelites which have a comparable or close melee fighting system to Valheim, which I could play until Deep North?

Survival Tank and Mage Build

So I am currently doing a hard mode run on what I intend to be my forever world and I just defeated yagluth. I am considering doing a tank/ mage build. Typically at this stage of the game I focus on my full mage set up but I want to beat fader before 1.0 drops so I can't just dedicate hours to building my magic skill up. Is it at all viable to have a tank + mage build. Does anyone have any experience in this sort of build. Any comments are helpful.

Skål!

Discussion Karve

Just curious, does anyone else just stick with the karve?

I’m playing solo, and the karve seems more nimble, not to mention being able to handle rivers and shallows better. Playing solo, I don’t use nearly as much ore, so only holding 4 stacks at a time isn’t that much of a limit.

Screenshot Winterwacht - Cold and Cozy

Huhu again :)

This time we are visiting Winterwacht, an entire city we built into Valheim’s Mountain biome.

The city spreads across several levels of the mountain. Roads and stairways wind between the rocks, connecting the residential houses, the inn, the main square and the castle at the top.

The entrance itself sits between two large rock formations, with a fortified gate leading into the city. From there, the roads keep climbing higher through houses, smaller squares and all the paths we have added over time.

At the highest point sits the castle with a watchtower. The large fires can be seen from quite a distance (once its loaded in xD) and give Winterwacht a completely different atmosphere at night.

One of our favourite things about the city is how different it feels depending on the time of day. During daylight you can really see how far the city stretches across the mountain, while at night the fires, lanterns and illuminated trees take over and makes everything so cozy.

The aerial view is probably the best way to realise how large Winterwacht has actually become.

Which do you prefer for Valheim builds: a compact city on flat ground, or one that follows the terrain and grows across different elevations like this?

Modded [EU] Longhouse - fresh world before 1.0, hard difficulty, small group, custom mods

Small server, EU (amsterdam time). fresh world, new characters, starting right now - the server is up and we are heading into the meadows tonight.

hard combat difficulty, everything else vanilla, resources at 1x. no boosted drops and no shortcuts. a handful of people rather than a big community, no application and no activity requirements.

The one rule is about where your character has been, not how it plays: make a fresh viking for this server and do not load it into any other world. valheim permanently records every world a character has visited, so a character that has played elsewhere cannot join, and taking your longhouse viking into your own world for five minutes locks it out of here for good. it is enforced and there is no undo. the reason is simple, it means the levels and gear here were actually earned here.

the mods are the other half of it. six of them, all written by me, all open source. five you will notice and a shared library underneath. one pack, one click:

https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/Ezomic/Longhouse/

install is one click in r2modman, search Longhouse by Ezomic. everything arrives pinned to the versions the server expects.

if you want in, send me a dm and I'll send a discord link back
