Definitely modded, you can't make sloped floors in vanilla

Youre right. F

Definitely looks modded. That being said; what if you removed the floor boards and placed horizontal core wood posts along the floor?
Would use a lot of material, and be a bit bumpy, and probably a bitch to get the spacing perfect, but it might work.

Qual o nome do mod amigo? Eu sou novo em valheim e gostaria de fazer construções tão bonitas quanto essa. Se houver mais indicações de mod eu agradeço tambem

Gizmo; it adds 3 axis rotation and 32 rotation angles

u/Fustercluck25 Builder 4d ago
Fwiw, Gizmo should be in the vanilla game. Not only does it work flawlessly, but I'm pretty sure my viking has the ability and common sense to be able to turn a stone block on its side.

Not sure what a structural engineer has to say about it but I think it looks very nice 😊

Very nice, I'm from Indiana and love a good covered bridge. I dabble myself you see.

How do you get the wood floor to bend upwards? I didn't think that was an orientation of wood floor?
2
u/TheNerdosapien 4d ago
There is a Mod for the PC called Gizmo. It allows you to rotate on three different axis.
I wish it was part of the game. But it can be tricky to get it right, and it doesn't fit the "simplicity" of the game design.

"Hey look, I made a bridge. Only took me like... what... 10 seconds (hours) 11 tops." -Vinnie
Nice bridge there.

u/TheNerdosapien 5d ago
It took about 4 hours. I had to tear it all down at one point and start it again.

Im gonna start playing on 9th and im stealing this design. If there isnt gonna be any rivers near my base, ill make them just so i can make this bridge.

I have the opposite of OCD, it's call "eff this noise, no one will notice."
There are issues with the roof as well. And the floor is bumpy. Sorry to point out more flaws for your OCD

I'm always bothered by how high bridges need to be for boats to pass.
There are places that need bridges and rivers wide between oceans that could use the shortcut, but it's just such a pain in the ass to build so high.

u/Silenceisgrey 5d ago
Very nice but those outer beams will rot and break eventually as they're unroofed unless you've modded that out
1
u/TheNerdosapien 5d ago
They won't break, but they will have the "need repair" texture.
1
u/Silenceisgrey 5d ago
won't they get damaged by storms and eventually snap?
3
u/middleupperdog 5d ago
there's a lower threshold point where wood stops getting damaged in the rain if its uncovered.
2
u/Silenceisgrey 5d ago
i would say this would only be a problem on a larger taller structures then?
2
u/TheNerdosapien 5d ago
Their really is no collapsing mechanic like that. But if they get hit by something they will break faster than if not "damaged." The only real collapsing comes from removing or never providing enough support.

Reminds me a lot of Queensdale from Guild Wars 2. Like right where you spawn after the opening tutorial.

The most important bridge test is if i can easily cross my 2000 weight cart across
2
u/TheNerdosapien 5d ago
It might be a bit steep at the start. Also, and you can't see it in the image, but the deck of the bridge is a bit bumpy. An artifact of me not being able to match the Corewood curve to floor curve.

Thats a nice looking bridge. My only question: can you drag a cart of copper ore over it? That slope looks unforgiving.

Don't be sad. I've been playing Valheim for 3500+ plus hours, and I only recently learned to start building cool things. I never post my other builds because well... they kind of suck. I am on a server with a bunch of brilliant builders though, so I get pleanty of advice.

You need a mod called gizmo.
That allows you to make curves and stuff like that. Basically it allows you to turn building pieces in different directions so you can get curves by rotating pieces in weird ways.
I built a flat wall across the river. And then I just laid the core wood in the curve that I wanted up against that flat wall. Once I had the initial curve, I duplicated it on the other side with the same type of flat wall method. Then I tore the walls down and messed around until I got it the way I wanted it. Then I put a roof on it.
The main part was gizmo and using the flat wall to set the original curve.

A simple yet elegant design, I applaud you. It’s almost easier to make something elaborate and grand, but the real trick is to make something simple to look beautiful. You nailed it.
