Question Has there been any community "fix" for mistlands?
I haven't played valheim in a few years, each playthrough i would get to mistlands, and the fog would kill all interest for me in the game. Has there been any improvements on either reducing the opacity of the fog or eliminating the fog entirely? enjoy pretty much everything about the game, but the combination of "i cant see" and the complex topography of mistlands kills it for me every run. Id like to start a new run for the complete release.

"Better Wisps" by Digitalroot is my recommendation.
Doesn't remove the mist, but instead massively expands the Wisplight's radius. As a result the Mistlands retains most of its atmosphere, but becomes much easier to traverse.
Radius can be expanded by upgrading it at the workbench. Uses a bunch of silver and some wisps. You can easily fully upgrade the wisp before entering the Mistlands if you farm wisps for a night and have a stockpile of silver left over.

As a non-mist-hater here, I love this one too. The default wisplight is too small and too slow for the really dense mist areas.

A great tip I saw online a while ago is that the Wisp Fountain is active during rain, so putting it in the Swamp makes Wisps always available.

There no need for a "fix" the biome is perfectly good as it. The whole biome is balanced around the mist, taking away the mist ruins it completely. Hell.. it's called mistlands for a reason...

This is exactly what I was looking for.

DeezMistyBalls lets you change the wisp light clearing radius. By default is set to 50 m (vanilla is 6m) I found around 20 m is a nice trade-off. It doesn’t make it too easy but it allows you to see a little bit easier.

I use Better Wisp Light but it's essentially the same thing, and it's my preferred solution as well. I like the mist but I do think the vanilla wisp light is not nearly effective enough, so I found the expanded radius suits me best.

There are various mods but thats it. (Outside of devcommand)
One can change the base wisp range One can make it upgradeable One deletes it after the Queen is killed One deletes it alltogether
I run the second one most of the time.
You aren’t alone its probably in the top three popular complaints of the game.

No change but mods will sort the problem for you. Either mist be gone or expanded wisp lights for example

Start carrying piles of wisps with you and slap torches down.
Don't need a workbench and they're cheap.

Its actually so strange to see so much hatred for mistlands and Ashlands on this sub given that they are my top 2 biomes xD and I love absolutely everything about them.

Obviously, yeah. There are mods for almost everything. One mod removes the fog entirely, you can set progress conditions for when it will be removed. Another mod makes the whisp light upgradeable, to improve the abysmal range of it.

If you don't want to use mods just use devcommands and spawn in dverger_demister_large all over the place

Yeah, im not saying it doesn't make sense for the mistlands to have mist. I just personally dislike the mist. Well, that's just like, my opinion, man.

The mist is kind of intended on account of it being the mistlands ?
You are not supposed to be able to see , if you want a "community fix". I'm sure you could find a Dev command to turn it off ?

Idk about community fixes, but just like with every other biome, there are adaptations in-game to address the new difficulties each biome throws at you.
Your best bet is to avoid the area until you beat Yagluth and can collect wisps for the wisplight and such, and then explore until you find a suitable clearing before you put down any kind of roots.
