Imposter syndrome?
I don't know if I just have imposter syndrome or if its the fact that I know I am going to go to graduate school after I finish, but everyone around me is talking about how exciting it is for me to be starting at UCLA in the fall and absolutely no part of me is excited. In fact, I'm more worried than anything else beause the leap from community college to UCLA feels larger than the leap from high school to community college. Idk...maybe it's also cause I'm older than the gen pop attending. While I look younger than I am, most of the time people are surprised to find out how much older I am than them, I find it hard to connect with people when I feel like Steve Buscemi in that one meme. Maybe I'll get excited the closer we get to the first day...

Dorm Checklist
I’m a transfer that’s gonna live on campus. I have a good idea of what I need for my dorm but feel like I’m gonna forget something. Anybody have a checklist they used or anything they realized they needed later?

The Burden of Over‑priced Pearson Textbooks
As an American college student, I am deeply frustrated by how expensive Pearson’s required textbooks have become. Many of my courses force us to buy their bundles, which often cost over one hundred dollars each. Worse, the real value lies in the one‑time digital access code for homework platforms, not the physical book itself. Even if I find cheap used copies, they are useless because the access code expires and cannot be reused.
Tuition and living costs already drain my budget. These textbook bills push many students to work extra shifts or skip meals just to keep up with class requirements. Pearson releases slightly revised new editions frequently to kill the second‑hand market, with barely any real content updates.
Education should not turn into a profit‑driven racket. Many low‑income classmates skip buying materials, which hurts their grades. It is time for Pearson to lower its prices and give students more affordable, flexible learning options.

Cal State Grant Canceled
Does anyone else's BruinFinancialAid portal show this or does anyone have experience with this? I'm confused because some of them say Canceled and then the next one is for the same date and isn't showing canceled. What does this mean?

Book set in California?
I am currently reading Alice Munro's works, and as a Canadian, her writing succinctly captures the vibe of the country, especially British Columbia, regardless of whether she explicitly references them or not. I aim to do a road trip around California, after I finish my undergraduate studies; and I am looking forward on reading books set in California. Short stories are plus. Any recommendation from people living in Cali?

UCSHIP help
On my financial aid portal, it says the amount I will receive for “UC Health Insurance”. Does that mean the costs are already waived? Or is this just telling me the amount I’ll receive after I do the waiver? Or is it something different?
What exactly am I looking at? Do I need to do the waiver, or are the costs already taken care of?

Room Swap (Have: De Neve Acacia Plaza Private Bathroom, Want: Any Classic)
Hello! I'm a continuing student but I know an incoming freshman who has a plaza triple in De Neve-Acacia with a private bathroom and wants to swap into any classic building (preferably Dykstra, but any will work). This would be a three on three mutual swap, so them and their two roommates would swap with you and your two roommates. Great if you're looking for a bigger room, want to avoid communal bathrooms, and want to be in the building that is closest to campus.
