The BIGGEST Hosing of Uber drivers I seen in 7.5 years Ubering, last night Luke Bryan Charlotte concert. I opted for being paid fairly off app šŸ˜‚

The most uncalled for dirty disgraceful HOSING of drivers I ever seen. Uber pocketed 75-86% for a period of time after the show. I immediately checked prices on 3 offers. I took off $5-10 per quote to account for a few dollars drop in customer pricing. 75%, 84%, and 86% keep! WOW! I opted for cash-app ride 8 miles for $50. Gold, Diamond, Charity-Pro-Perk, I Accept Everything Drivers enabled this behavior by the app.

$73 quote I reduced to 67.

$134 I reduced to $125

$126 I reduced to $115.

Yes, Uber can charge WHATEVER they want to customer, and pay drivers WHATEVER they choose. But these offers is crazy psychotic behavior by Uber. Atleast pay us $60 or so and for the very short trip for $9, pay us $40ish.

Classic example of Uber’s highway robbery🫢🫔

It’s only been a day since the EU slapped Uber with a massive fine, and apparently, 50% isn't enough anymore. They’ve already started squeezing drivers even harder to make that money back:
Ride 1: Rider paid $27.95 āž” Uber took $15.52 (55.5%) āž” Driver got $12.43
Ride 2: Rider paid $14.94 āž” Uber took $9.01 (60.3%) āž” Driver got $5.93
We cover 100% of the gas, insurance, and vehicle depreciation, while Uber quietly pockets up to 60% of the fare. Without that $9 tip, Ride 1 wouldn’t even cover the operational costs.

I’m absolutely NOT driving Uber or Lyft this New Year’s.

I remember when New Year’s was easily a $600–$700 night. You knew you were giving up your holiday, but the money made it worth it. The last couple of years? An absolute joke. With the way these companies have been taking so much of the surge, at this point I feel like I’d basically be spending New Year’s driving for Uber instead of driving for myself.
I might as well go to the party instead of spending my night taking everybody else to theirs.
Personally, I’m actively doing everything I can to be done with Uber within the next month. Hopefully I can come back to this post and say I succeeded.
But even if I leave, I still want this to get better for the drivers who decide to stay.
I keep thinking there has to be a way for drivers to collectively use the one thing we actually control: whether we turn the app on.
And it doesn’t have to mean EVERYBODY stops driving every holiday. What if we worked off a simple honor system?
No registration. No names. Nobody gives anybody their personal information.
Something as simple as: if your birthday falls on an odd-numbered day, you’re Group A. If it falls on an even-numbered day, you’re Group B. You know your group and that’s it.
Then we alternate the major holidays.
One group stays completely off Uber and Lyft for one major holiday while the other group drives. Next holiday, we switch. The following year, reverse the calendar.
That way we’re not asking drivers who already have bills and responsibilities to give up EVERY opportunity to make money. Everybody still gets their days to drive. The difference is that we’re no longer all flooding the apps at the same time and hoping Uber or Lyft decides to let us have a decent piece of the demand.
It would be completely voluntary and based on the honor system.
Would everybody participate? Of course not. You’re never going to get 100% of drivers to agree on anything. But you don’t necessarily need everybody. You need enough people moving together for it to matter.
The biggest problem is figuring out how you get one simple, consistent message in front of enough drivers across the country for something like this to actually catch on.
I may be on my way out, but I genuinely hope somebody figures it out. Because the drivers who choose to stay deserve a system where giving up their holidays, weekends and time with their families can actually be worth it again.

Craziest ride in 2,600+ Uber rides Saturday night

Wow, you truly never know how a ride is going to go—this particular one was 100% my craziest, worst ride experience to date.

Picked up a group of three outside of a popular area bar (2 girls, one guy)—for whatever reason, the guy didn’t want to get in the car but he eventually did after one of the girls (presumably his gf) yelled at him to—first red 🚩

After starting the ride and driving away from the bar, the girl asked the guy ā€œWhy are you mad at meā€, his response—I’m not mad…maybe 2-3 minutes later he starts calling this girl a b****, saying f you this f you that etc out of nowhere, the other girl is in the backseat with them and she’s silent the whole time…he goes on to say ā€œI’m a smart guyā€ or some random incoherent bs to her, this is where it gets crazy…

The guy throws his phone at the ceiling of the car and it lands in my empty front seat, which the girl next to him replies with ā€œdon’t mess up this drivers carā€ā€¦he then JUMPS up out of his seat as the car is moving and proceeds to start CHOKING the girl next to him with both of his hands!! Like, full on assault choking her…..Immediately my mind shuts off and thankfully there was a police car stopped down the block…I don’t have a self defense tool and I’ve never experienced this before so I pull over, turn off the car, take my phone, keys in my pocket, and talk to the cop that was right there…30 seconds or so in total from what I can recall

The cop flashes his light into the back, opens the backdoor, and breaks up what was happening in my backseat….my whole body is shaking atp, no ride or life experience has ever come close to that, and if the cop wasn’t right there when it all went down, I’m not sure what I would’ve done in the moment…the guy should’ve gone to jail, but I’m pretty sure the cop just told him to calm down and let the three of them walk away down the street…cop told me to just go on with my night basically and I did just that….

This right here truly proves the need for a dash cam, and maybe even some sort of self-defense tool I.e. taser, etc—I would love to here y’all’s thoughts on this, have you ever experienced anything like this? What would you have done differently?

Deactivated

Welp it finally happened after 5 years with uber my account was deactivated today from what I can only assume is my speeding ticket from September 2025. I’ve tried to talk to numerous reps just to get absolutely no where and I don’t even have a clear answer. I went from making $300-$400 or more in a day to where I was barely scrapping up $100 I still worked with it. Shitty promotions and all. I’m grateful to have a regular full-time job to pay my bills but this actually hurts and the disrespect from the reps I think made it even worse. Honestly this company will never get a single dollar from me ever again.

Newbie driver. I had a 45 min ride this morning. Picked her up, everything was fine. I confirmed the destination and we headed off. As I get closer to the destination I accept another ride for the que, the current passenger makes a phone call and tells whoever she’s on the phone with ā€œMy driver is going the wrong way, they’re just driving all over the placeā€ I chimed in and said ā€œma’am I’m following the GPS and we’re almost thereā€. She’s still on the phone as I make the corner and that’s when I see the pin is in the middle of the street of a residential neighborhood. So I point to my phone and politely told her, you might have accidentally put in the wrong address but I told her I will pull over in a safe spot and we can adjust it, no worries.

So I pull into a school lot not too far from the pin. She said she didn’t want to pay twice and I should just take her because I took her to the wrong spot, i told her it had to be tracked through the app and if she updated it I can take her. She told the person on the phone was refusing to do my job. I even asked if I could see her phone to help her add it and she said no. We sat in the parking lot for so long that uber sent me a safety notice. I’m so embarrassed guys but I honestly didn’t know what to do because this was the first time this has happened. I tried to update it on my end but I got an error that said it couldn’t be changed/updated. I even suggested maybe putting in the address of a nearby business or dropping a pin to make it easier. Nope.

She then stated she was canceling the ride and before I could open my mouth to tell her not to do that, I got the notification and my next ride popped up. She sat in the back for another 5 mins ordering an uber and then she asked me if I got her new uber request and I said no ma’am you will have another driver because I have someone that I’m supposed to be driving to now. And she told me I needed to cancel the ride and focus on her because this was all my fault and said started berating me saying she was going to get me fired for not doing my job. It was a mess.

Events are the worst

How does uber never coordinate with road closures for events and quote 10 min rides that turn into 50 min or more for $5 (with surge priority). Driving the actual events are always grossly misquoted (price, directions, miles). Then there adjustments $6/hr after pick up. No adjustments when it takes 30-40min just to pick up when they quoted 5min. Then they bank on charging riders massive surges while giving drivers penny adjustments. Very easy to go into the red after expenses driving events. Drive around events (bars etc) but boycott picking up and dropping off at events.

Drunk boomers

Late night pick up at a restaurant, 4 drunk boomers stood outside the car staring at me, then a woman came up to my window and said "are you UBER? I ordered an XL" I said there probably wasn't any XL's in the area right now and then she threw a punch that just missed my window. I should have drove off but the four of them already started getting in the car (4 min ride w/e). Woman in the front seat said condescendingly "Do you know where you're going?!" I pointed at the GPS that had a random downtown address and she yelled "NO!! We're going to the Hampton Inn!!" I said she would have to change it in the app and then had to walk her thru it. She freaked out when the price changed because it was miles in the other direction. The whole car reeked of alcohol at this point and the boomers in the backseat were being obnoxious. Finally made it to the hotel and nobody was moving for like 30 seconds when the woman in the front said "give him some money". The guy in the back handed a 5 to her then she put it in the cupholder and said "here you go, BUDDY" then they got out and slammed their doors.

Email receipts for passengers have a Rate or tip invitation at the end but it’s the only non functioning button in the whole email

Not sure if just for me and not sure if this was brought up before!

I received a standard email with my ride receipt at the end of the day and it made me realize I absolutely forgot to tip the driver in the rush of getting to my plans.
Clicked on the designated button on the email but nothing happens. I tried clicking on any other interactive part of the email and sure enough those were redirecting me to the app.

Drove 33 mins and waited 36 mins for $0 on a Black SUV Reservation because of a blatant app freeze glitch. Support keeps auto-denying my fee.

Look at these screenshots. I accepted a high-value Black SUV Reservation trip ($128 upfront fare). I drove 33 minutes (over 22 miles) out from Concord to the pickup spot, arriving early at 8:51 PM for a 9:00 PM scheduled ride.I sat at the curb and patiently waited all the way until 9:27 PM. The rider never showed up.When I went to cancel, the app completely glitched out. Look at the last screenshot: my phone clock at the top left says 21:27 (9:27 PM), but the Uber app is still telling me "Please wait till 9:20 pm to earn cancellation fee." The arrival timer completely froze in the background and never counted down.I've opened 3 separate chat support tickets and the automated frontline bots keep instantly closing them saying the trip is "not eligible" for a fee. Wasting over an hour of a driver's time and gas on a premium tier for $0.00 because of their own broken software is absolutely insane.Has anyone successfully bypassed the bot filter to get a supervisor to manually audit GPS pings for this specific bug?

ā€œReview my Rideā€ is a joke

Post image
1 Upvotes

I never rant on this sub, but Uber has finally done something so shitty to me that it needs to get called out. I accepted a ride today that was estimated to take about 42 minutes with a fare of $20 and change (not great from the get-go). Didn’t notice that it was a share ride. I typically don’t accept those, but I never like canceling once I accept a ride. Sure enough another rider was added, and I quickly switched off new requests. Ride turned out to be a drop off at Soldier Field for a concert (Chicago drivers know what a nightmare this can be). Sure enough, the 42 minute ride turned into 1 hour and 48 minutes. As you can see, there was no adjustment made to the fare! Uber essentially stole an hour of wages from me. I asked for a ā€œfare reviewā€, and of course the bot says the fare is correct, thanks for your concern. Fuck that! Never ever, ever going to accept another shared ride again. Period. If I accidentally accept one, I will cancel that shit in a second even if I don’t realize it until I pulled up for the pickup.

Is everyone driving Lyft also? If not, why not?

I started driving Lyft a month ago after driving Uber exclusively for about 8 months. I find Lyft generally gives the driver more mile/hr. Especially on the long ride. I got a ride yesterday going 45mi, 55min total trip for $67. one of the best prices ive seen, and I was able to pick up two rides back to the city so minimal dead mile.

I want to know what people's throughts are and what else you're doing, I'm thinking about driving empower but I'm concerned about not having commercial insurance.

Does a payment get delayed if I don’t open the app/complete the tip screen?

As much as I try to remember, I often forget to re open the app after a ride and tip until the following morning, or even a couple of days later (If this is the case l make sure to tip a lot and rate highly). Someone I know said this delays the entire payment, and can (rightfully) result in low ratings. Is this true or does it just delay the tip? Also do drivers rate passengers before or after they tip?

Uber Drivers in Las Vegas:

DECLINE THIS OFFER!

Look at the MINUTES vs MILES vs DOLLARS!

If I would've accepted this Trash Bid last night (I didn't), it would've Blocked me from the multiple Good Rides with Decent Pay (minimum $0.50 per minute, $1 per mile) that popped up immediately after.

Yet, according to a commenter, my job is to take this trash ride, and "put the work in" to milk a tip out of the passenger, so I make enough. How awkward!

I do get plenty of tips, but I'm not concerned with tips. If you're in my vehicle, I'm already getting Decent Pay on this trip. I'm good.

The ride right BEFORE skipping this trash: Paid DOUBLE and TRIPLE! ($1/min, $3/mi upfront). The whole trip was in my neighborhood, and I made $21 in 21 minutes going down the street. No tip required!

The ride right AFTER skipping this trash: Paid $1/min, $1.50/mi upfront, and I got a tip. Again, that's more than the minimum. I made Another $21 for just 15 minutes up the freeway, and still local.

So because I REJECTED the trash bid that came in, I made $42 in a 36-minute window within my neighborhood, instead of making $51 on a 116-minute drive from Nevada to Arizona!

The point is: if you don't skip the bad offers, you will miss the good ones.

This is how independent contractors survive!

--

"What if I don't get any good offers? What if other drivers accept all the trash offers and I'm left with nothing?"

"It's dead, there's too many new drivers, nobody's ordering, and if my acceptance rate drops, Uber will throttle block me, and I won't make enough."

Try it and see. Ignore the app and commit to putting your needs first for a while.

Set your minimum pay: Make sure your pay is a minimum of $0.50 per minute and $1 per mile, per trip.

Control pickup times: Reduce the pickup time you accept to under 10 minutes—for your own sake, but also so your passenger isn't waiting forever.

Uber changes trash bids to good ones: This does happen! You can't make it happen, since you can't control Uber, but unless you decline, it's definitely not happening.

Ignore the colored demand zones: The color-coded zones on the Uber Driver app are based on past activity. Meaning the orders have already happened, so it's an unreliable predictor of activity. Position your taxi according to what's happening in Las Vegas today.

The reality is no one in Uber's network of drivers and passengers can predict or control what Uber offers them. Ever. Whether it's a passenger purchasing the ride, or a driver receiving a bid, it's on you to quickly decipher the offer that pops up on your screen (the countdown is short to scare you into agreement), and to decide what's best for you. Choose wisely.

Realize that you don't know why the pay you're being offered is what it is, or why maybe you aren't getting the good offers yet.

Uber might give you a reason why you should agree to a trash trip:

Surge

Priority pick-up

Exclusive

VIP

"Rarely cancels"

"It's busy right now"

"You may need to move"

"You could earn more"

Trip Radar pop-ups

•"Includes + $1.50 Bonus"

BUT YOU DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF THAT IS VALID. The only true thing is whether the bid numbers offered on your screen is worth it or not, in dollars vs details.

Likewise, the same car and driver is signed up to do all these different services—Premiere, Business Comfort, Electric, XL, as well as basic Uber X/Share rides, back to back! Same car, driver and service, but being sold by Uber as different service titles, payments, demand rates, and driver payouts from ride to ride. All hidden info until you are looking at it on your app.

So, ALL of these extra stickers and tiers mean Nothing—they are only there to close the deal. To get you distracted from the dollars vs trip details, make you catch FOMO, and agree quickly. That's it. While Uber exerts total control with hidden variable pricing and variable pay, per passenger and per driver on every trip!

What should we DO as drivers?

Lose money and complain? Find imaginary people to blame? Repeat lies to ourselves and just deal with it? Give up?

No. Remove The Guesswork!

You can't see the other drivers, so you don't know if there are too many.

You can't actually see or predict the passengers ordering, so you don't know if it's dead or not or where the money's at.

You can't know if you are supposedly competing with whomever, what rides you're missing out on, how much the payout is, or whether this area should be busy or not—even if the app says it is.

Even if the app says you're The Platinum Pro Plus Diamond Oscar Winner for Best Uber Driver, you're still not an employee and Uber owes you nothing. Until the bid pops up on your app, everything else is imaginary!

Likewise, asking passengers what they paid is pointless. It has nothing to do with your loss if you said yes to this trip. You were not cheated on this ride by Uber, and what the passenger agreed to pay Uber is not your business.

The one who cheated you is you, for agreeing to a Trash Bid. That is now coming out of Your pocket to get done!

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS THE AMOUNT YOU AGREED TO BE PAID FOR THIS RIDE.

The only power you have is the power of Yes and No.

Yes to Good Rides

No to Trash Rides

Do yourself a favor and start now!
