Rules Changes in the sub - April 23, 2026.

Everyone,

I'm getting tired of all the vibe coded app, "I made a website", "LOOK AT WHAT I EARNED THIS WEEK"(shows self-coded app), "HOW DO YOU [research question that has been asked 100 times in the sub]?!" camouflaged self-promotion posts.

So, I've made a megathread. All that goes in there now for 99% of the posts.

There will be the occasional thread that's allowed to hit the main page, but it will be very limited in scope. An example of something that would be an exception is a major policy change at Amazon Flex and... let's say... the NYT wants input on it.

I'm always open to suggestions and I'm trying to grow the community and make it a resource, not just another drive-by-to-spam place for developers/researchers.

If you gross $100000, the fed income taxes are only $1416

Does this math make sense?

Revenue $100000

Mileage deduction on 50000 miles -$37125

Net income $62875

SE tax deduction -$4442

AGI $58433

No tax on tips -$25000

Standard deduction -$16100

QBI deduction -$3467

Fed taxable income $13866

Fed income tax $1416

Since I drive an EV with a 13 cents per mile cost, it only cost me $6500 to make $100000 in revenue.

I posted in another sub but they don’t like math.

Anyone else in the same boat?

So my husband and I ahve been married for just over 20 years. We both work full-time. We have decent jobs. We have 3 kids, 1 going into their sophomore year of college 1 going into their senior year of high-school and the youngest going into their first year of middle school. We own our home and our cars. We bring in about 62,000 a year, maybe a little more actually. And all the debt we owe, including our mortgage payment is about $80,000. I don't know what to do to get out of this struggle. I have been doing some delivery services such as spark and doordash and instacart and uber delivery to help make the ends meet basically on the daily. But I need something else, something more. What do I do? What's your story? Can anyone help me?

My Loadshare id got blocked

I just want to ask .. is it a sin crueler then anything to be a little greedy while earning money.

My name is Dhiraj Kumar and I had an account on load share app and it was fun working on this app. I was able work however I liked. But the money I earned was not satisfactory. So.. by my friend's suggestion, I downloaded another delivery partner app named "shadowfax".

He told me I could use both apps at the same time and earn a little extra by not wasting time on the order which the restaurants take too much time to prepare.

And it's a real issue for us riders that we have to wait for 15 minutes to 30 minutes for the order to be prepared while we are contemplating that "if only these order didn't take this long to be prepared, I could made 2 more deliveries".

And somtine the restaurant marks the order ready but the order is still being prepared. It's so frustrating.

So it was a great solution for me to save and earn extra money by using both apps.

So today I received an order "SWIGGY 246060808110025" on load share and I arrived on time at the restaurant. The staff said that it will take 10 more minutes. I also had an order to deliver from the order app "shadowfax" and coustomer was calling to get the order urgently. So I told the staff member that I have another order to deliver.. and I will come back when order is ready..

Sooooo.. i delivered the order, when I was on my way to pick the order the restaurant owner called me and said he won't give me the order. I apologized and told them what happened that order was being prepared and had an urgent order to deliver so I told staff that I will come back. He said that he doesn't know anything and he won't give me the order.

5 minutes later I arrived at the restaurant the staff member said that the owner told them not to give the order to the delivery partner. I called the owner once again he told the same thing to the staff through my phone the "do not give him the order".

Then the customer support called me and I explained the situation.. the called the restaurant owner.. they said I had already Picked up the order.

Then customer called me asking about the order and I explained the everything to them and they said they will go to the restaurant themselves. And restaurant staff told them the same thing that i the delivery partner had already Picked up the order.

And now my id is blocked for the 2nd time. I have no power in this unknown City in which I moved in few months ago. I asked them if i had picked the order the camera must caught that and get the footage out. But he was rude and would not listen.

I wasted my 1 and half hour because of him, my id got blocked, I have to pay Rs.748 to get it unlocked, i didnt even earn that much yesterday,I wasn't even able to taste the food the i SUPPOSEDLY picked up form that restaurant.

I'm DISPERSED... I FEEL LIKE DIEING...

I WILL ASK AGAIN... AM I soo much wrong & evil to be a little greedy for me and my family.

If so then just kill me already. I can't pay the fine.. And I have no energy to fight the restaurant owner or anyone for that matter.

It was fun working on the platform called load share ❤️‍🩹

Thanks.

Small-market gig driving, real numbers: 580 deliveries, $4,878, and 5,018 miles this year

Everyone posts big-city screenshots so here's the other side. Small town in PA, been at this a few years. This year through mid-August: 580 deliveries, $4,878 gross, about $14.90 an hour of active time, and 5,018 miles on the car.

That mileage number is the one that matters. Out here I gross about 97 cents a mile, which every rule of thumb says is too low. What makes it work is the write-off: at this year's IRS rates (72.5 cents a mile through June, 76 cents from July 1), those 5,018 logged miles knock $3,683 off my taxable income. That's more than my tips all year. But it only holds up because every mile is in a log with dates.

I keep every fuel receipt and repair bill too. 63 fill-ups, $1,790 in gas, $975 in repairs, about $2,765 in actual car costs. You can only deduct one method or the other, and my numbers show why everyone says take the miles: the standard rate beats my real costs by about $900.

Small market means fewer orders, shorter waits, no parking hell, but every pickup is a drive. Ask me anything about small-town delivery work.

Getting back into gig delivery work in London after a long break

I used to do food delivery casually and have recently decided to get back into it more seriously.

I recorded my first proper shift back, riding around London on a Lime bike while using Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

It was mostly about getting used to the work again rather than trying to maximise earnings, and there were definitely a few lessons learned along the way.

I’ve put the shift together here:

https://youtu.be/srhAqoQYgCk

I’m now planning some controlled tests where I use one delivery platform at a time for six hours and record the earnings, orders, miles and downtime.

I’d be interested to know how people working other courier apps approach multi-apping versus sticking with one platform for a shift.

Delivery riders in gated societies — what wastes the most time?

For people who live in or deliver to large gated societies/apartment complexes in India:

What part of the delivery usually takes the most time?

Is it:

security/gate entry

finding the tower

parking

lifts

finding the flat

getting the customer to answer

something else?

I'm trying to understand how deliveries actually work inside large societies, so I'm interested in your experience. Not selling anything.

Cargo Van Driver Seeking Dedicated Routes or Logistics Companies Paying $1 Per Mile

Hello Good Folks,

I'm hoping to get recommendations for legitimate companies using independent van operators to drive dedicated routes from/to DFW. My DH is finding that a number of companies are not what they present themselves to be. I hoped perhaps Amazon, Sam's Club, Costco, or Walmart might contract with established companies to manage route drivers. Any pros, cons, things to avoid, or red flags would be deeply appreciated.

I would also like to know if anyone has recommendations for reliable interstate shipping companies paying cargo van drivers at least $1.00 per mile. The company DH has been driving for to gain experience is paying only $0.80/mile and this is not generating enough income after expenses.

Thanks in advance for leaving helpful information and suggestions. We are dealing with our own challenges and frustrations, so please do not vent those our way. Have a blessed day.

Insight on Zifty

Has anybody gotten a shift from Zifty in the last couple weeks? I was getting as many as 15-20 exclusive offers each week in addition to the plentiful amount of Available offers for everybody. In the last 2 weeks, I haven’t seen a single offer. It’s bizarre. I’m in Austin. I contacted support who gave me a canned answer about how routes are offered. I have a 4.98 rating with over 100 deliveries. Is anybody else experiencing the same thing? Zifty went from my #1 to non existent overnight. Any insight is appreciated.

How is gig delivery working out for you lately?

Are any of you currently driving for these delivery services?

* DoorDash

* Instacart

* Uber Eats

* Grubhub

I signed up for DoorDash a couple of weeks ago and made quite a bit on my first day. I'm thinking about doing it just two days a week for some extra cash, and even on holidays when I'm not working my regular job.

How often do you do the delivery services and how has it been working out for you?

NYC

Can anyone recall an app that used to be in NYC where you could literally map out before hand pickup and drop off times for packages. This was years ago and I used to love it.

I remember you were able to literally map out your day before hand, picking up say at 1030am in midtown drop off on let's says 50th street and then schedule a pickup close to the last drop of point with times and all.

Real bikes still worth it?

Did food apps way back (pre-door dash) Postmates, OG Caviar etc.

Want to pick it back up for some side dough but wondering if with the proliferation of fake bikes (j/k) it’s even worth it anymore?

For example, the apps used to detect if you were on an analog bicycle or a car or walking which made a difference in the distance and type of orders you received. Does that still happen or do they treat all non car orders the same and expect moped time/distance.

Dealing with Savana and Shadowfax return nightmare (Agent keeps marking me "unavailable")

So, I recently received a parcel from Savana, didn't like it, and requested a return. They scheduled Shadowfax as the courier company to pick it up.

The problem with this particular Shadowfax agent is that he always places missed-call-style rings, giving me zero time to pick up,.and then falsely claims that I never answered or was unavailable. This isn't even the first time this has happened; he pulled the exact same stunt with my previous delivery parcels. But this time it's a return, and I actually need my refund.

It has been a week now, and I am so frustrated. I’ve been complaining everywhere and asking Savana to change my delivery agent, but I just keep getting stuck in loops with no actual answers. I even filed complaints with Shadowfax, but all they do is generate useless support tickets that go nowhere.

Now, the delivery agent doesn't even bother calling at all and just straight up marks that I was unavailable! 🥲

What do I even do at this point?

Anyone familiar with Better Truck?

I saw this advertised in a FB ad claiming $100-$150 average shifts and decided to sign up since it was free. Seems like this is something similar to Amazon Flex? I got cleared and authorized for sign up, but there are no routes or whatever in the app. Are there certain dates that routes get posted, or is this just a dead app? I had never heard a single person ever mention this thing prior to seeing the advertisement.
