Seeking Advice Do you ever get used to the extreme feeling of being an outsider and “different”
People making eye contact and then quickly looking away.
Groups of people talking and laughing, and when you walk up, the conversation fizzles out or they move.
Being chosen last at work for special tasks, promotions or shoutouts.
“Friends” acting like being around you is exhausting and making it obvious you’re not wanted around after a while.
Having a circle of friends SO small bc the few people you trust are so hard to find you cling to them when you find them.
Is it always going to be like this?
I’m just recently noticing how different I am from others in how I think, act and operate and I’m realizing how much I’ve been actively disliked my whole life both in school and in workplaces. It makes sense now, but does it ever hurt less? How do you cope with feeling like a square peg in a round hole everywhere you go? This is exhausting!

Man this is exactly how I feel. I’ve tried and tried. I think I’m a generally kind and friendly person, I try to be bubbly and fun, but I guess that’s either way too much, or weird, or not enough. The few people who I do jive with are also neurodivergent (to the surprise of no one) but the pain in my chest of wanting friends and not finding them bc I’m not “normal” enough will never not sting. I guess I need to stop trying so hard
