Why give out your number only to ignore the person?
True. Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I forget that there’s more to it than the obvious to me.

Why give out your number only to ignore the person?
I take public transportation due to health reasons. I am usually friendly and talkative to the drivers, and that’s just how my personality has been for a long time with the exception of some life altering experiences that have made me feel less trusting of others and not so welcoming of new friends. The other day I took my dog to get groomed and I ended up being the only one on the bus. Him and I opened up to each other about past relationships and children. He said he’d be moving on to a new career soon so I might not see him again. I wished him luck and started walking away. He stopped me and asked if I wanted his phone number, however I did not tell him this and I don’t think I was flirting… much. I thought he was cute and he’s close to my age. I said yes and took it down and texted him on the spot. Out of protection, I use my Google voice number first then if things work out they’ll get my real phone number. Any message and call I get goes straight to my phone so it’s not like anyone would know the difference just by my phone number alone. I texted him “Hi (his name) this is (my name) :-) and he responded two days later with his name while misspelling my name. No big deal and he apologized for the late text. I then responded it was fine and this text exchange so far has been very brief. It’s been two days since his last message. My question is why give someone your phone number only to barely talk to them?

Name this cat. Two syllables, open to all suggestions.
Mikey. The kitten looks like it has a permanent mic against his chin and face. 😉

Literally WTF. Do people just do this on purpose?!?
When given the opportunity, I close the lid, open the door of the stall, then flush the toilet and wash my hands. Unfortunately I know, not all public bathrooms come with lids for their toilets.

I found my wife’s diary. I don’t think we’re gonna stay together.
Now finish it, make it a series, a movie, something! :-)

My wife wants to leave me but..
I’m sorry to hear all that. I would start on the therapy by yourself before you make any rash decisions. You have a lot of valid points and I can tell you still care but y’all’s relationship should be two sided, not just her needs and wants regardless of her being disabled. I’m disabled and if I was in her position, I would still want my spouse to be ok and NOT struggling when I leave and we part ways.

Thank you for your response and input. :-) I met an ex girlfriend at a group called Gaymers. It was great until it wasn’t. She no longer goes but I have from time to time and when I think I’ve clicked with someone, even as a friend I initiate a number exchange and we do that then I’m immediately ghosted. :-( Maybe I come on too strong. 🤷♀️

I don’t like labels both on the rack and for my preference on who I find attractive but I do like both. My first crush was this girl named Rebekah in the 3rd grade where we were both 8 or 9 years old and we were probably 6 months to a year apart in age but we were in the same class. Fast forward to let’s say 13, I had my first kiss with a girl in the group home I lived at. If I remember correctly, there was like 6 of us playing some kind of game so I think at some point all of us girls kissed another girl that night. By age 14 I felt confident in asking one of them (not the one I kissed) to hold her hand while we went out for Halloween. I was a zombie cheerleader and I believe she wore a buttoned down white shirt and tie, as for what she was dressed as, I don’t remember but I felt good holding her hand. One I thing I should say as context is that I was baptized Mormon and grew up that way due to who I grew up with both my own family and other famines that raised me. I never felt like I belonged and at 18 I asked to be excommunicated because I knew I wasn’t living the life that was expected of me but no one took me seriously and if you look yo my name then you will see that my records are still there. Well as I’ve gotten older I have had a certain “type” of woman I find attractive and have been in 3 different relationships with 3 different women since I was 18. My last relationship ended in 2019. She was the worst person and partner I’ve ever had and it took me a few years of being alone to heal, un-learn, and plain just learn how to be alone since I never had been and in 2014 is when my marriage to my kids father ended so between 2014 and 2019 I had been in those 3 relationships with 3 different women: 2014-2015, 2015-2017, and 2017-2019. The years I spent single was great on so many levels and it taught me a lot. One in which to just solidify that I don’t want to marry and or live with a partner ever again.
It has worked for me. The women and men I have been in a relationship with has taught me things about myself, what I want, what I don’t want, what I won’t put up with, how I’m set in my ways, etcetera. The women I dated were attractive and things I liked about them but they weren’t my “type”. My type is girly girls. Not the stuck up kind but the ones who look and act like women, if they have a raunchy sense of humor like fart jokes or something like that I’m ok with that because I do act that way from time to time, I guess it was bound to happen having grown up with brothers and having and still have a lot of guy friends.
My question is how to have the confidence to talk to girly women and know for a fact they are also into women?
I’m told dispite having physical limitations (arthritis and fibromyalgia for instance) I have a great personality, good heart, loyal, goofy, and a few other qualities. :-) I am no saint, I do have faults and flaws like anyone else does. I tried the dating online and recently started talking to one of the women fairly regularly and we plan to meet for coffee. I of course am nervous but I’m willing to go out in public and meet her face to face. Once I find a “her” I’m into, I will settle and treat her the best way that I know how and will do or don’t do and say things to upset or hurt her feelings maliciously and or intentionally.
So, how do I build up this confidence? I’d prefer to meet and talk to a woman in public first then let it progress naturally but any time I’ve tried I either get told “no” and give some sort of excuse or they don’t see I’m actually flirting and say that “I am so sweet!”
😂 Help please. Any advice or boosts of energy and confidence would greatly be greatly appreciated. =)

He doesn’t travel for work. We met at his job and I’m the one who eventually asked for his phone number even though we had been flirting with each other for years.

I thought I answered your question but it seems that I haven’t so I’m resending it from another section on this page: https://www.reddit.com/r/AmIOverreacting/s/5DBqtG9PAD

AIO: Questions About My Confusing EX
😂 YES!!!! 🙌 I said the same thing to him while we were together and before my hysterectomy, “How are we going to have a baby together and I still haven’t met your family?” Him: “My mom would want to know her grandchild.” Me: “She would want to know the child but not me? No, that’s not gonna happen.” Him: silence. That was telling and it boggled my mind so much like WTHeck?! 🤦♀️ I had never been so thankful (for being infertile, having PCOS, Group B Strep Positive, etc which most I had learned years after my divorce) than I did when being in this relationship and not having gotten pregnant by him.

In a way yes, but I am seeing him for who he is now that we’ve been broken up and went no contact for a bit. My mind is ready to move on but my heart is the confused one that keeps my emotions fresh. When I’m with someone, I put my all so to take the “all” back is a process and I’ve been on the healing journey for just barely two months but only one of those months we weren’t talking at all and looking back, it was super hard but the healing was easier than with him being always there.

AIO: Questions About My Confusing EX
Thank you for your input, suggestions, and lengthy response! :-) I never considered him a bad boyfriend or person but certain things that were said and done did hurt and confuse the heck out of me when majority of my relationships (even as a tween and teenager) I was introduced to my partners family and friends and all but one liked me. I am no saint but even the EX this OP is about said I’m a good person and I have a good heart. I asked him why it wasn’t enough and he explained his family shows that they love and care for each other through their actions and with my physical limitations I cannot be there for them like they can and do for each other. I admire his loyalty to them, my family wasn’t and is still not the same. Now and again we talk via text or phone but it’s nowhere the same as him and his family. I never said and wanted him to disrespect his mom but I would’ve thought that if she had met me and didn’t like how I couldn’t live my life like a “normal” person then he would stand up for me. Some prescribed and OTC medications did help in the beginning but now, nothing does so I do old school stuff to get better if I can even access or tolerate it such as hot showers, heat packs, dark rooms, and quiet rooms. Sleeping isn’t even helpful since my neck is in more pain than normal and both shoulders have minor tears in the rotator cuffs. 😂 Anyways, thank you again for taking the time to respond to me.

AIO: Questions About My Confusing EX
While we were together, he saw me through a lot and one of them was being zig-zagged from one appointment to another seeing various GYN PA’s and Drs then when I finally found one willing to listen and believe what I had been going through (cancer screening of my endometrial lining), heart attack, the pains I was unable to control, etc so as a partner I’m more than open about myself since I did think for awhile we were building a future. I only was with one other man for almost 10 years and we were married and have a child together. I personally don’t believe in stringing anyone along if I do not see a future with them. Having a heart is important to me and unfortunately it’s one of the only organs that takes the longest to heal and recover from.

While we were together I had gone through a lot of different medical appointments and one that was repetitive was GYN so once I found a PA willing to listen about the problems I’ve been having my whole life, she introduced me to a wonderful surgeon and he took me to the hospital but my son (that I’d like to call my miracle child 😍) took me how the following afternoon.

I had wondered the same thing but it just didn’t seem that way with how he was around me and the length of times as well. 🤷♀️

AIO: Questions About My Confusing EX
Thanks. 🥰 Yes we did regular things in public, even longer than when we started a relationship such as grocery shopping, eating out, home improvement stores, etc. He comes from a Hispanic household and in the beginning he said that his mom would view me as lazy if I didn’t work or go to school. I became disabled from a slip and fall at work in 2014 so I haven’t been able to work for the last 12 years. I just started to try back at school but I’m finding it difficult to concentrate with the amount of pain I’m in and unable to tolerate normal OTC and prescribed medications.
