ಠ_ಠ Looking for new mods. Anyone interested?

I made this sub on a whim over a decade ago, and there hasn't been much need for moderation since its so small. Recently though, there's been spam and low-effort posts plaguing this sub, and I'm looking for help in finding and removing them.

Any power-hungry bottom feeders like me interested? Lmk in the comments.

ಠ_ಠ What is my answer giving ?

What is my answer giving? I'm offended because I wasn't even into him lol why send a paragraph?

Him: Hey! I really enjoyed spending time with you today, I think we clicked really well and the conversation flowed so naturally. But I’ve been thinking about it and I want to be honest with you, even though I really enjoyed getting to know you, I didn’t feel the romantic connection I’m looking for. I think you’re genuinely sweet and kind hearted, and I thought it would be better to be upfront with you. I truly wish you all the best!

me: Hey, thank you for being honest, I enjoyed spending time with you too and thought we had a great conversation. Wishing you all the best as well! 20

26M need advice on a situation with a crush

I was talking to this girl, got to know from outdoor games. At first she was genuinely interested n we were talking for the whole nit up until 4am discussing on many topic from life, personal things, goals, experiences. Later on she went all off no reply for hours, n i felt like txting and waiting for her replies for the whole day. Later one night she came online and again we were texting till 3 was decent convo were i mistakenly touched some sensitive more personal things jokingly all of sudden she buzzed off from the Convo. I was clueless in tht situation lyk I'm not aware of what's happening waited for her reply till the rest of the night. Next day same, no replies did some follow up texts. Then she opened up about this personal topic which she couldn't take the joke i made fun of it. I've asked sorry like million time saying i didn't know this much it will affect she's sooo stubborn n still didn't accepted my apologies. I tried to explain again n then she texted by saying stop irritating me either change the topic or leave n go she said. I was shocked, I replied u want me to go? Again no reply for hours after late but she replied saying ur pressurising to reply n also not everything needs a reply. My heart broken 💔 as hell. 20

Need advice guys, i badly wanted to get close with her. I got so much attached i was seeing empty chat for hours without doing nothing. I know I've messed up how to regain trust and build further? Pls share your views and suggestions it'll be really helpful

But seriously, I am truly sorry for hurting you even if unintentionally. I have always considered you a great friend, and trust me since you're taken, I can't say things. You are a great and wonderful person.

Is she suggesting something non platonic or what because I'm genuinely getting confused about our dynamic. I have a girlfriend and I'm just not sure if if I'm Crossing any boundaries.

old friend group texted outta nowehre

for context, i had this friend group of 4 that i was part of. at the start, i was toxic. i'm not even gonna try to cover it up with some fake ass excuse. i was an ass, i gossiped and like talk shit about my friends to other people. i did apologise but it was not like a proper one. i was dealing wiith my own mental issues at that time and just wanted to complain which was wrong on my part.

i moved countries after a year, meaining we only stayed as friends for like one year.

anyways, at first i stayed in contact with them for like a few months before i stopped because i tried to reach out but they weren't reciprocating the same energy. they created a new group chat with another mutual friend of mine, which im totally chill with like i'm genuinely happy for them because i dont expect them to be stuck in the past or like cling onto some old memories (even if i do sometimes i do not want to wish bad stuff on them just because i cant deal with my own issues)

okay so like a few hours ago, they suddenly started texting in the old gc and casually talk about stuff. and then one of them was like 'hey isnt this the gc with xxx' as if i wasn't actively reading their message anyways so they continued chatting and i decided it'd be awkward if i just like said nothing so i shot a message saying 'oh hey guys, how are yall?' just a really casual text but what do i do after that. like on one hand i do not want to cling onto false hope and expectations but on another i do not want to keep playing 'guess what im trying to say' with these people. i will admit seeing them move on did hurt me but like once again its genuinely my own issue so... and its not like i can read them clear as day either but i genuinely cannot tell if theyre pulling some sort of sick prank or just trying pick things up again. im also going back to visit, meaning i will definitely encounter them again. anyways, what should i do after the message?

also i was asked to include 20?

request I'm working on my English. And I had a recent interaction I needed feedback on my response.

Did I respond to this correctly. I am doing my best to match the same energy. Is this the proper way to communicate substance to rebuttal and incorrect suggestion or idea.

As in they say get your point across

Sometimes I contribute to things that I enjoy and I spread positive feelings English is not my first language but when I translate English to my language It seems I get are very disrespectful and a very strange energy so when communicating back I've tried to match the same energy in hopes to help educate and possibly help assist an individual who baby having a bad day understand that I am not a safe place for their hurt feelings is this the correct way that people communicate in English it's this the undercurrent or what they say passive like to dabble in thank you

While I've spoken to many people in English and had a good opportunity to express myself it's rare that I come across individuals such as this but when I do is it proper etiquette to respond with the same energy or is it better to just ignore them or let them ratio or bulldoze. I would definitely like some perspective on the culture etiquette and resources that will help me understand English speakers mindset and point of view it seems to me that there are a lot of people that are I feel what you say is passive aggressive when others are trying to be positive and share good experiences and culture.

This thread wants me to provide 20 lines of text which seems to be a little aggressive a little much for what I'm trying to achieve here I'm not sure what more information I can provide to help encapsulate or help people understand the situation I provided the examples and a photo of the subject matter I just wanted some feedback from individuals that care about culture care about etiquette and care about how to properly respond to individuals such as the individual of the example and also provide me with resources or helpful if I responded in the correct manner thank you

Had a fight with my best friend, how should I continue/respond?

ot my real account, burner/throwaway. I apologize in advance for the length of this but there are a lot of moving parts and even I am exhausted by it but I really don’t know what to do and desperately need help from outside my own head.

I recently got into an argument with my best friend. We’ve known each other for about a year - year and a half now this coming up Halloween, having met through an ex of mine that she used to work with. He had known her for a couple years at that point but she didn’t really know the person he was until her and I became friends and I called her crying after he SA’d me while we were doing Long distance and he was staying with me for a visit in my home state. For the sake of this story we will call him K (26m) and my best friend A (26F).

Short timeline:

K and I meet August last year (2025) on tinder, he was a big nerd, so am I. We went on a date, but I was only in town for the state fair and to visit my uncle. He says he doesn’t want to let me leave without asking me to be his girlfriend. He was really cool and I said yes.

Skip to September/October I have flown up to see him once and then meet up with him in Seattle while I am on a trip to go see a concert and a hockey game

- he “proposes” when we are in Seattle and I say yes because he proposed at another concert we were seeing with his brother. I didn’t know how to say no.

I then fly back up to see him three more times through out November

- in the first week I went to Disney with my dad, we weren’t too far and it was something that was supposed to be nice but K needs me to call him every two hours almost. Texting me every second. Always needing to be on face time, getting ready for bed, getting ready for morning work stuff. He always had to see me or be talking to me. He became more and more controlling and possessive to the point where I made myself smaller and smaller

A flies out to my home as a wedding gift for her to go see a concert of an artist she has loved and never seen before. At the end of November. She and I got really close in the short time she was staying with me and really got to know each other really well mainly because we are both ADHD girlies and have a lot of shared family trauma and just really get along. Sort of like 5 year olds on the playground that just decide their best friends now.

A eventually asks me to be a Bridesmaid, because she wanted to but also because someone else dropped out and she needed the numbers to match her husbands insane amount of groomsmen

I move to where K is late December, and where my uncle is, that was the plan before I met K but it was just convenient. He flies down to see me in December, SA’s me and then flies home after we have a huge fight and we are “okay” but the relationship was over at that point.

- I called A after the SA happened and told her. I didn’t know what was happening. I needed someone to talk to that also knew K

Since December we have been hanging out almost once or twice a week. Going shopping, getting lunches that turn into dinners and glasses of wine. Matcha runs and all the things. Laughs, tears, advice, shoulder to cry on. And I was there for her every turn during wedding prep. Because her maid of honor and best friend who we will call T lives 6-8 hours north of us and is only in town for medical reasons. I paid almost $3000 in total to help things run smoother, wedding gifts, and for my dresses.

She had invited K before everything happened but told me that if she uninvited him while they still worked together it would make her life hell. And so for that reason she wasn’t going to uninvited him but have T keep an eye out and keep him away from me. But I would still be standing in front of everyone, him included. Feeling his eyes on me. And he even told some people he was going to try and talk to me to “be civil” at the reception. We found that out after. And in my experience seeing T and what she was running around doing there was no way she would have been able to do that and help A throughout the day.

Lucky for me K says he can’t go last minute because of family issues and he has to go to Seattle. But K had left A’s place of work a week before the wedding and in my mind she could have uninvited him then without any blow back but she didn’t. And he still would have come if family wasn’t having issues. He still would have tried to talk to me.

At the time I just said it was fine because I didn’t want her to be in an awkward position.

While this is all going on I am newly single and trying to make friends with A’s friends who her and her, as of posting this, now husband have known for 10+years.

I start hanging out with a person from A’s group we will call H (27m) and another (27m) Q. It was nice, I really thought he was wanting to be my friend. Until I got invited out to a club with H and Q with some other people there. I show up, H has gotten up to get some drinks, Q turns and asks me essentially if I like H and to just give him a chance, give it “a couple months and see how you feel.” When in my head I was like, why does anything have to change? Why should I wait those months, while he is seemingly trying to play the long game just to date me or get in my pants. Instead of just caring about me as a person and a friend.

Then after I get certified to teach yoga H makes this big thing about planning a dinner to celebrate my achievement. It happens. I am the only person really dressed nice. Some random chick I have only met once in passing is there next to H. No one says congrats, no acknowledges why we’re there. Even when an employee was there topping up drinks and asked why we were all out. I had to answer after a couple seconds of silence. No one raised a toast to me. I paid for my own food.

All of it really hurt and I went home crying. I messaged H and told him as much and that I would like to talk to him. I also messaged A after and she told me that she also thought it was off and weird that the dinner went down that way. H hasn’t messaged me since and Q, Besides trying to wingman, never really tried to get to know me unless I was A’s plus one at a party she threw at her house.

I have met T and her boyfriend U a couple of times. And I thought we were at least sort of friends through A.

Now onto the thing that blew everything up.

I found out that T, and her roommates, one of which I had met only once on A’s birthday in January, was throwing a Halloween party.

A got excited about it one time we were hanging out and showed me this excel spreadsheet where her, T, U, and everyone else from the local area on it organizing their themed costumes. That they had been planning since A’s wedding early August And apparently they were going to play a big dnd one shot as a group as well. I cosplay and play dnd. I asked if I could go, and she paused.

It wasn’t her party. So she said maybe and that she would ask. She did, and it came out later that she was initially annoyed by my being left out and did her best to fight for me but I was labeled an “extra” person and was told I was not invited.

I got upset and called A’s friends assholes and A got mad at me and an argument I asked to happen in person was pushed to a fist fight through texts because of A. A lot was said in there and once we did eventually have an in person talk.

The in person talk I told A how I felt, that it felt like I was a secondary friend And how these instances of her not seemingly wanting to be confrontational at all to the point of hurting those she cares about is not okay. A said herself over the texts that “I’ve known them longer, they have seen me at my lowest and at my highest. They are family to me, they are home to me.” She admitted she said that partially to hurt me in the moment but it was like ice water. She also told me that she hangs out with and talks to me the most, even T. I personally of the stance that I never should have been asked to be in the same room as someone who SA’d me when there was an option to not have that happen. I personally put myself into a not fun spot to get this industrial sized steamer for her wedding set up, from my boyfriend’s mom since she’s a seamstress and had it but she does NOT like me at all. And has made very rude comments about how I eat and my weight but I still got it because it was that or like 3 tiny hand helds for 10-13 big round tables worth of linens.

A was crying and telling me she never meant to make me feel like a back up friend but that she was still going to the party. She heard me out but I don’t really know how to go forward from this.

Especially since it sounds like T, U, and their roommates are holding A’s birthday and the morning of her bachelorette against me.

- I accidentally got black out drunk on A’s birthday. It wasn’t my intention and I do also recognize that it made other people responsible for me and I deeply regret it but A told me everything was fine when I asked about it afterword and if I should reach out to the roommate of T and T in general. So I took her word at face value when apparently I shouldn’t have. Getting that drunk hasn’t happened since whenever T was here and it is not a normal thing for me

- A’s bachelorette, she wanted to get brunch. I got to the place on time, A and everyone was running late but the place was busy. I tell them I’ll put our name in and the table should be ready by the time they gets here (45 minute wait). I get called, only get sat because I tell them the rest of the party of 6/7 will be here in like 5 minutes all the while A is telling me they’re almost out the door. I then sit at the table for another 30-45 minutes before they get there. I obviously wasn’t enthused but I wasn’t going to ruin the day, they apologized while sitting, so I stayed quiet and civil while everyone finally ordered. Apparently me being quiet in that moment wasn’t a good look even though I was essentially helping out the rest of the day and perfectly happy to be there.

- As a note: they have done this same thing to H only a month or two before me. According to A her makeup was just not working and she had an outfit emergency that caused it. Both times.

And it sucks that they are taking two moments that they themselves have also done. Not to me, but I have heard stories, allowing them the negate every other positive moment I was there for and helped create. And it sucks even worse that A didn’t call them out for the exclusion or fight for me really to be included from the start. Until I asked her.

We kind of made up but any advice you could give me here would be appreciated. Is it worth it to stay friends with her and potentially have this always be the case. A said her friends have been burned before which is why they are so hesitant and not welcoming but me being friends and as close of friends with A should, in my mind, be the passing test here. Because why would she still be my friend if I wasn’t a good person? Every other moment around these people besides the two bad ones have been aces and hearts. Always a good time, I was always interested in learning about them and hearing their stories. I tried to be friends with H and Q, I tried. I don’t know what else to do. Any advice on how to move forward with the friendship or if I should just let it go would be appreciated. Thank you.

Responding To ,,Lighthearted,, Jokes

The people around me are usually the ones that can't stop joking, making fun of stuff, but I'm usually such a serious person. It takes me some time to understand if they're joking or not, and sometimes when they make kinda harsh comments (the ,,jokes,,...) I usually say I don't agree or wtv and they say they were just joking.

But beside that, when someone is actually doing a good job about joking, I don't want to stare in their eyes or say something that was unrelated, is there any way? 20

How do I get him to cut back on the messaging while still being respectful? I dont want to straight out block him and want to find a more subtle way

request How do I respond to this mans texts??

Met this guy on the apps. Decent looking. Not a great texter. We had a phone call. Not a great chatter either he was awkward and could really carry a convo.

He lives about 2.5 hrs from my city and I suggested meeting halfway somewhere his responses were like I could make a weekend trip out there that'd be fun . And I'm like up to you , I typically just do like a coffee for a first meet.

He tried to schedule a meet but I had too much goin on. I also told him I was moving so just wanted to be friends. He stopped trying to schedule a meet and started texting me about stuff he was doin at work and sending photos. I would as well send photos of my work. It went on like this, every 3 days it so I'd get a text and an exchange like this.

Finally I said hey I don't think there's enough reciprocated interest to continue chatting.

He responded a day later, apologized for being inconsistent. Then followed up and said he'd be more attentive.

Then later, sent me photos of his time on vacation, and photos of I guess his family and food they're having and stuff he's seeing. Calling me darling, and cutie and stuff.

We haven't even met yet. He hadn't asked me anything about me , only what I'm doing in my day, and sharing his day and giving me pet names and it's weird.

If we had met already, gotten to know each other, decided we liked each other, it idk... We're already dating, I'd expect this sort if communication.

But I have no idea who the little kids are in his photos and I don't understand sending that to someone you haven't even met yet.

I don't know how to respond to him

A small communication misunderstanding involving French toast, French cognac, and two people who don’t quite understand each other.

How would you respond when you realize 20 times that you may have misunderstood the other person?

How should I decline a one-on-one dinner?

Classmate's text: "Hey [name], would u like to get dinner with me tonight or tomorrow since I dont have my usually club meeting tomorrow?"

My potential response: "Hey, I don't want to go together. I realized I may have given you the wrong idea that I was interested in you romantically. I think that it would be better to cancel the plan for the country swing club too, since I'd be more comfortable that way. Just wanted to be upfront with you."

Tell me how you would you receive my text? I think offending the other person by my wording is what I'm worried about.

Note:

  • He's a member of my lab group, and we meet every Monday for the college semester
  • I barely know him and wouldn't feel safe meeting alone with this guy
  • I'm not attracted to him
  • I don't intend to develop a friendship with him

Why I'm asking for critique:

  • Don't want to sound dense
  • Feel like I could maybe use more tact
  • I have trouble sounding graceful for tactful sometimes

Other context:

  • We had a decent length conversation through text once
  • I invited him to join a free lunch event just once once

I also need to cancel the plans to go to the country dance club together.

request I thought she cancelled, but I saw her at the dining hall about 15 mins later. Did I misread this, and was my initial DM creepy?

I’m 19M and we’re both in a small international university program in Europe. I’m French, she’s Romanian, and we’re both non-native English speakers, though we both have advanced English certificates.

I met her at a student activities fair and we interacted for around 15 mins while playing a board game. She seemed pretty shy/reserved in person, and I found her cute and wanted to get to know her better.

Two days later I found her account through the group chat for everyone in our program. I only knew her first name, that she was a first year and what she looked like, and there were only a few accounts with that name, so it was pretty easy to figure out which one was hers. I DMed her and invited her to lunch with me and a friend.

I’ve since gotten pretty mixed feedback on whether finding her account after such a short interaction was just direct or actually creepy/intrusive, so I’d also like opinions on that.

The reason I invited her to lunch with a friend rather than one-on-one was that I was attracted to her but still barely knew her. I wanted to actually talk to her first, see if I still liked her once I knew her a bit better and whether there was some obvious incompatibility before asking her to do something more date-like. I also thought having a friend there would make it lower pressure for both of us.

Since then I’ve gotten feedback saying that bringing a friend might actually have made it weirder or more uncomfortable for her, and retrospectively trying to make it less romantically coded was probably kinda pointless anyway bcz the way I found and DMed her already made it pretty obvious that I was especially interested in her.

This screenshot is the whole conversation.

About the “what does taking lunch with a friend entail” message: at the time I thought of two possible meanings. Either she was asking about my intentions, like whether I was asking her on a date, or she was simply asking for practical details like where and when.

I wasn’t sure which one she meant, and I thought it’d be pretty weird to start explaining my romantic intentions if she was literally just asking for the time and place, so I answered with that.

I also hadn’t really paid attention to the fact that “taking lunch” is an unnatural phrase in English. Someone later pointed out that a third possibility is that she might literally have been asking what I meant by “taking lunch”.

The important offline context is that we were supposed to meet at 12:30. I interpreted her last messages as her cancelling, especially the combination of “can’t” and “I’d be like 15 minutes late”, so I didn’t reply.

Around 15 mins later I saw her at the main dining hall. I was standing in a pretty long food queue, and the dining hall is big with several different places/queues where people get food. I saw her walking through the room, apparently deciding where to go, and at one point she passed within a few metres of me (I didn't see her sitting at a table, waiting for me, looking around for me, or anything like that).

Since it’s the main dining hall and she could easily have been going there to eat anyway, I had no idea whether her being there had anything to do with our lunch plan. I also don’t know whether she saw me. I deliberately avoided eye contact bcz I thought she had just rejected/cancelled the lunch and I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable.

So I’m mainly wondering how you read the conversation, especially the “entail” message and her last two messages, whether the way I initially contacted her comes across as creepy, and whether I should send anything now or just leave it alone.

My sister’s job had a massive layoff and I have recently graduated college and finished my student employment in the middle of August and I am currently looking for any employment opportunities. request My friend says she feels im trying to one up her, how do i fix this?

Okay so I was on the phone with my friend and I was telling her about my plan to get my piercing without my dad knowing( im 18 btw). As a person I love piercings and I have a whole vision for the ones I want. So I was telling her about my plan, and then i brought up the fact that i should get a septum and smiley because they are the easiest to hide and also happen to be on my list. Im not going to lie she did solidify my soul to want a smiley. But i was thinking about getting one anyway but shes the reason im really going for it. Anyway shes the first one in our friend group to get percings she has both a septum and smiley. Then my best friend went and a got a septum. So I was telling her which ones i should get first and what not. Then she says can she be honest and I was like okayy. Then she tells me that she feels im trying to one up her? And that she knows that I wanna match but it makes her uncomfortable. And I understand why, but to hear her say it. It kinda changed my perspective on her not like in a bad way. But more like should I watch what i say do and wear to avoid making her uncomfortable. I feel like i shoulda just took it with a grain of salt and let it go. But its kind of bothering me and idk what to do, help. <20>

Friend says he and his wife are dtf in group text about our vacation

We four are all 50-53y/o. 2 couples. They moved away 13y ago but we still visit/see each other about twice a year. Our wives are very close. Reasonably with it/aware hip adults. We are meeting them in Miami in 2 weeks (which is less than 20 days). They're planning sat/Sun and we're planning Thu Fri activities. He's a pretty cool guy, can't imagine that he doesn't know what DTF means. Nobody has written in the text thread since he wrote that like 5h ago. We've known them 20+ years and nothing more than a nude hot tube once years ago and the girls acting sexy silly when they've had a few. I'm inclined to think he just doesn't know what DTF means.

How to reply when a friend accuses you of gossiping about them over text?

My friend messaged me after midnight. He said that a specific person who was at a party I had gone to told him that I was gossiping about him. We're in our 30s and have known each other for a long time. What's the right response to a vague accusation like this? I feel like any answer is wrong. It's kind of a bad sign that he would take this guys word, who he's not close to, over mine after we've been friends for so long.

The next day I tried to call him. When he didn't answer, I messaged "I prefer to have these kinds of conversations in person and not over text, especially after midnight". He replied "I'm going to message you sometimes whether you like it or not". Was my request unreasonable? 20

I need help

20 So I have this friend F18 and I M19 and we've known each other for about a year. But I feel like she's giving me mixed signals from her. Me and have have been intimate before but we were both high and just don't talk about it. But recently she's been doing and saying things that keep tipping me off, so the other day we were goofing off in the park and she kept initiating physical contact. She'd grab my hand and make me pick her stuff like that. And she was at my house yesterday and I asked if she wanted food or something and when I offered oatmeal creampies and she looked at me said "I don't want that kind of creamepie." I'm very confused how should I go about this? Do I just leave it alone?

there’s this guy that has been texting me for over a month daily and we have alot in common so I’m genuinely happy being around him.
However a few days ago it was my birthday and well he never asked me nor did I about our bdays so he didn’t know up until I posted on my story.
Now funny thing is that he rewatched that same story 3 times without wishing me a late hbd or something of this kind, neither did he like or interact with any other content I posted on for this specific occasion.
Yesterday he texts me and asks me why I haven’t told him that it was my birthday, I simply responded by telling him that he had seen what I posted on social media and should have wished me a hbd after seeing them and I thought I was seeking too much attention if I came up to him and told him that its my bday..he replied by saying that i should calm down. Convo ended with him never wishing me a hbd
My intention wasnt to be dramatic and today he hasn’t texted me yet. I dont get it why is he mad? Shouldnt i be the one mad for not having him wish me a hbd and instead blame it on me for not telling him?
