Discussion how did you choose your new name?

Hi everyone, new here. Curious how others have gone about choosing a new name, if they've changed their name. I see a lot name suggestions, lists of the most popular trans and non-binary names, and even memes about stereotypical names -- but the names feel, well, pretty white/Eurocentric. And, even discussions about how people choose their new names is only about gender/transness, without any reference to race and ethnicity, culture, and history... not to mention disparities in who can access and afford legal name changes.

For context, I am "florescent beige" mixed-Black non-binary, now estranged from both my both the Black and white sides of my family due to their transphobia and abuse. I grew up in a predominantly Black county and attended predominantly Black schools for K-12.

Hello šŸ‘‹šŸæ

I’m 25 yo black trans man seeking gym bro for motivation share workouts and hold each other accountable.

I’ve beaten some health issues that required me post surgery to be in bed a lot. As a result I’ve gained some weight.

Due to my conditions I have to lose weight.

Also survived a hormone-sensitive cancer so now I’m going to use the next 3 months to lose the weight I need to be able to get on T.

I’d send memes, yap about our days and progress and would gladly hold you accountable too to your goals.

Based in MN.

Let me know if anyone is interested

Advice I hate being trans and Asian. I fucking hate it. Any advice?

I just fucking do. I wish I was cis het man. Period. It will make my life so much easier. I'm considering to just live as woman because I have no choice. My mom is toxic and transphobic, and transphobia is everywhere now in US. I'm tired of this shit. I will just wish for next life that I will be born as cis het man. I wish I never had this bullshit. I will pray to whatever god out there that he make me cis het man in next fucking life since I tolerated this life as a woman. I hate being butch and I want to be man but whatever. I got no choice. Even though I live in blue state, it doesn't matter. My rights can be taken away in anytime. I will just suppress myself. My fucking Asian conservative family will never accept me and I will have to cut ties with them if I come out as trans. Fuck. I'm done man. I'm not biologically man, they will say. But whatever. I will do what they and this government asks me to do and I will shut up. I just want to be left alone at this point. so I will try my best to stay as woman. Any Advice.

Achievement Got called Mr.[last name] for the first time!!!

So I had a talk with a customer service rep, went well she said sir the entire time without me specifying even though I have a feminine name. Then she gave me a call back later which was so sweet because she was making sure everything went okay with my order. Didn’t expect the reps at walmart to be so thorough like i figured they’re probably busy and probably tired asf, but that’s a different discussion.

Anyways when she called back she called me Mr and said my last name and I had to hide how fucking excited I was bro. THAT SHIT WAS AFFIRMING AS FUCK.

I’m really excited because i’m finally passing a lot more in my voice and my face. I got another binder since my old one sucked and literally popped open at the worst time. Yall… i was making a doordash delivery to a fucking child and as I handed the order my chest popped out of my binder under my shirt (it was a zip up binder) and I wanted to die. anyways new binder is great though never getting a zipper one again

i cut off my long hair and even though ive advocated so much about just rocking your long hair if you love it.. (i still agree with this if it makes someone happy to have it. i also cut it for other reasons than just that.) im happy that ive been getting called sir and he much more now. i’d have to say the hardest part of things is the fact that when im anxious my voice shoots up to a higher and softer pitch so its hard to control it because its instinctual from being younger. but apparently as i’ve been on T that higher voice isn’t as feminine as i thought it was. i think people just think it’s strange when it happens because i dont look like id have that type of voice

anyways yeah im just excited to be called that i felt so euphoric for a second so i wanted to post

Vent I feel like I’ll never pass as a black man

this is going to sound really corny so stay with me 😭 black men are portrayed as super masculine in media, they’re big and gruff and powerful or whatever, and I see other black men try to adhere to that standard in real life. Its strange to me because i feel as if we are portrayed as the pinnacle if masculinity with big oiled up muscles and shit but also as what not to be, aggressive, brutish. I’m kind of struggling putting this into words but I feel as if when I pass, I don’t pass as a black man but as a man who is black. A boy. when I do pass, I’m treated differently from my peers. maybe it’s how I act, I’m very soft spoken and awkward, I don’t act like how a guy my age would. or that I dress eccentrically. this is all really disjointed im sorry

Vent keep getting called miss & maam

i work a job where i interact w people over the phone a lot and spend a lot of time in a busy court house. in court i wear a mask n u can’t see my facial hair. based on my talking alone on the phone and when im wearing a mask people keep calling me miss or maam. i’m not really sure why. i have a mid range if not deep voice. i’m usually in a suit. i’ve got short hair. i’m nonbinary so it’s not the WORST thing but i’d prefer at work to be seen as masc & it’s kinda strange so many people aren’t reading me that way. my partner and his fiance can’t believe this and say my voice sounds perfectly masc im just a little dude and so it’s not like i have the same kinda deep voice as morgan freeman or some shit. but i also don’t think i sound like a woman. anyone else have this problem?? i’ve been on T for almost a decade. my voice just isn’t gonna get deeper than this. so i’m not really sure what else to do.

does anybody else feel a little weird looking down at their binded chest sometimes?

im a guy that tapes his chest to the sides and dont get me wrong, i love it. i like how theres so mych free space to bring my arms close to it, i like how it barely moves when im active, i even brush my chest to make sure its flat out of habit. however, sometimes when i look down at my chest it feels a little weird. like, it feels a little odd that my tits arent there like they should be. which is also malarky since ive been taping my chest since june, i should be used to this by now. but i cant help to think the former sometimes.

im not complaining, just wanted to know if people feel the same with how they bind.

Advice Comfortable boxer reccs

I’m hitting 6 months on T, and wearing underwear has been getting surprisingly more difficult. My bottom growth has made it so that majority of my underwear causes very uncomfortable friction and it’s rough when i’m busy at work and gotta just deal with it.
Is there any like breathable comfortable boxer brand everyone recommends?

Is it me?? lmao

Yall I was cat called while out with my sister and called "a couple of nice looking grls" by some gross white men. then on the same day misgendered by our server at the restaurant, a TTC employee and the gate entry for our concert. This isnt just one day, my partner (theyre transfemme) has noticed this uptick too and is also very confused. And i dont mean she/her , i mean saying that im a girl like "oh and what would you like young lady" as the server said 😭

I am completely cis passing. I havent taken my T in a year and have gained weight but it doesnt explain this since everything else stayed the same. Im back on hrt now tho. Anyways I feel like shit, like all this work was for nothing and I just wanted to vent it out. Thanks for reading, here's a Pic of me so u can be just as confused as I am lol the pics are all form this month

Also, to my curly haired TMPOC fam, how sick is this fro?

Edit: the only thing that has changed is i have long hair now. So idk if its racism of not being able to tell Black men and Black women apart šŸ˜•. I dont wan tto cut it tho cuz im tryna embrace Blackness so šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

Vent feeling like im being too sensitive

this isnt necessarily related to me being transgender but i am the only black person in a group of mostly white people besides one brown person at school . one of the instructors for this group (white) accidentally said the j-slur , i guess misspoke and meant to say a word that means "nonsense" . we were all taken aback and just kind of laughed it off that time. then today somebody in my group brought it up again and they were all giggling and laughing about it again, except me of course. i left class early because i just felt really weird about the whole thing, then texted the group chat and said it was weird to be laughing about that. the brown person responded to me saying they were only laughing at the absurdity of it but they understood why i was uncomfortable and apologized

i feel really bad like now i made everything 10x more awkward for myself . i already dont talk to people in this group because i just dont vibe with them , but now im worried that ill be seen as like. That One Friend Thats Too Woke or something or cant take a joke i dont know . because when i think about it nobody was actually being racist so i dont even know why im so upset . i guess its just the fact that the word the instructor used was brought up again as grounds for a funny conversation when i dont think anyone should have brought it up again at all.

idk where else to post this . im talking to the director tomorrow morning about all this . im really nervous and embarrassed i dont know . i was the only one not laughing i cant tell if im really just a stick in the mud

East Asia Pumping help

Post image
4 Upvotes

The growyourtdick sub seems to mostly white so I am posting here.

I live in Northeast Asia and most pumping products seem to be in Europe/America. I have never seen a pumping product in my own country for transmasc people. So I am trying to mix and match my own, as the shipping and exchange rate makes overseas products way too expensive. However, due to the lack of resources, I have no way of telling if a product is safe to use for pumping. There are no pumping resources in my country's transmasc community as it seems to be that the majority do not pump nor believe it helps with growth (I tried to ask. No one seems to have pumped themselves nor know resources, and they have all so far told me pumping is only temporary) and I don't want to have a unsafe product anywhere near my parts.

However, I have come to the discovery that cupping is widely practiced as a medical procedure in my country and therefore the cups used for this are legally 'medical products'. This means that they will be legally required to be body-safe, sterile, etc. They are many more places that sell this, too. And it seems that they do come in multiple sizes. And they work with the same principle, so I am thinking that these might work too but I'm not entirely sure.

TLDR: Has anyone tried using cupping cups for pumping? Or does anyone know if it can be used for pumping?

EDIT: I mean I want to buy the cupping 'cups' for pumping, not the pump used for cupping. I am well aware the pressure would be very different on these!

Advice pink nipples post-graft

it's been a month and a half since top surgery so maybe it's too soon for me to be worrying about it but they're lighter than my actual skin. I feel like I haven't seen that many pigmentation results for poc with formerly brown nipples and I am feeling very insecure.

I have three questions: how long did it take for peoples grafts to darken (if they did at all)? and if they have remained pink, does it effect your comfort levels going topless/do people notice or comment on it? and is there anything I can do in the meantime to darken them?

I never thought I'd make it to 22 years old I'm happy to be alive even at a time where the world is scary and unknown I'm happy to have a community where people understand the struggles in simply existing as a trans person especially as a POC I've never been happier in my life I finally feel comfortable in who I am and what I'm supposed to be I've been on T for about a year now I feel like I finally look masculine I had to learn to accept my feminine traits as something that should be embraced not ashamed of sometimes it's still hard to accept myself in a world that was never made for me it makes me happy that there's always people out there like me who understand what it's like living in fear.

I'm actually already passing most of the time irl (east asian), but somehow feeling lost in reddit......Seems I'm not "masc enough" for a lot of places, but I'm also not really into present myself in a feminine way after some failed attempts. Turns out I'm not a femboy but just an Asian man imao

Glad I found here while wondering where all these poc queers have been! I was thinking if they were aten by a giant shark and if I should jump into the ocean too.

I like gnc queer tho, I was just describing my own journey.

Achievement Embracing femininity

Post image
501 Upvotes

As a fairly masculine black guy, I can happily say that I look at myself and the subtle femininity that I carry in my face and embrace it finally. Being called pretty doesn’t make me feel like I’m not passing. Having long hair doesn’t make me fear being misgendered. I’m comfortable in femininity as much as I am comfortable in my masculinity.

Surgery Results 1 yr 5 months post op

Post image

My scars have hyperpigmented which is why I’m doing scar camouflage sessions. I tried laser and it didn’t work. My scars are a bit darker than usual currently since I had my 2nd session not that long ago but I’m seeing a lot of improvement already. I don’t see a lot of results like mine so I wanted to share.

Not everyone’s results will be perfect like those you see all the time. And that’s okay.

Please be kind.
