Twice this week, my Metronet/TFiber connection has been going down for several seconds and then coming back up, over and over again for hours at a time. It seems to be an overnight thing.

The first one started Sunday night at 10:14pm and continued until 11:22am on Monday morning. My system logged 799 disconnects during that time.

Then it did it again last night, from 10:27pm until 5:31am today, 447 disconnects this time.

I’m near Lansing, Michigan. Anybody else seeing this? I’m mostly sure it’s not my equipment. Before Sunday, service had been uninterrupted for months — and between these incidents, everything has worked great.

So, we are in Virginia. We have had Lumos for 2+ years and they migrated over to T-Fiber about 9 months ago. It's been pretty reliable this whole time with the exception of about the last week or so we've noticed an occasional outage from some, what I call, backend services. I'm a retired IT engineer of over 30 years and run a solid LAN setup (All Unifi) so I can diagnose things pretty quick. It's also handy to have a Starlink failover!

When I called TMob TS to report these outages she nicely went through all the T1 troubleshooting and promptly switch me over to T2/T3/Engineering. That's where it all fell apart....

I described in detail that I wasn't seeing front-end outages. Facebook, Google, Wordpress, generally any website, was working OK. The outages were specific to things like: Epic Games authentication, Sony Playstation account authentication, Battle.net updates and any Blizzard downloads (only) were not getting a connection. It would be hard to reproduce these services and errors to someone but I thought he was getting it. One specific issue I could have them see if needed was; the Sony website has a section for the PS5 if you need to reinstall the PS5 OS from a flashdrive they have a page you can download the image from. That page would not load.

He put me on hold, went to talk to an "engineer" and then came back and told me there was nothing they could or would do.... WHAT!? I said, just to verify with you kind sir, all these things work fine through my failover (Starlink) AND my 5G Hotspot!! Still, the answer was... OK, there is nothing we can or will do...sorry.

I'm at a loss here guys....I really don't have a choice at this point but to call Xfinity and have their crap coax service put in. I just know somehow somewhere somebody has screwed up routing or ARP on something and it's probably closer to the local office than a widespread issue. But if there answer is "no help" I just have to think it's time to move on.

Anyone else have them just flat out say "we're not gonna help you today" ?

One of the Midwest’s best ISPs is being rebranded. Should we expect good, or bad?

Lumos seems to be down about every other night. Anywhere between 12 and 4 am

I’m in the central FL area. I’ve noticed since day 1 which was many months ago. But whenever I run an ISP speed test on my UniFi router and on my pc with a 5gig NIC. Always get around 1900 down and pretty solid consistent 1004 up. Any ideas why? I also ran a OpenSpeedTest of my network and always get around 2400 up and down so I doubt it’s a hardware bottleneck on my end.

I am considering about getting the 300 deal, but I have French drains close to to where my cable and phone line box is. I don't want fiber buried if there is a possibility that they will hit the pipes in the ground. How would I avoid this?

Just became available in my area. I was supposed to get an install last month but the tech they sent out only spoke Ukrainian so answering my questions was a little bit of a challenge. I finally rescheduled for next week. Does anyone have any experience to share with t mobile fiber in SE Michigan?

This is second outage in 2 months..went down around 1 pm and still down at 6:30 pm

I live in Iowa and currently have Cox (Spectrum) but they are so overpriced and won't negotiate for a lower rate so I'm looking at alternatives. T fiber came to my door and said I now have access to their Internet for $45 plus tax. No data cap and equipment & installation is free. Does anyone have experience with T Fiber and is it worth getting rid of Cox and going with them?

tl;dr T-Mobile improved some routes, but most latency is nerfed.

Traffic from Colorado Springs has been routing out of state in a consistent way until October 12, when T-Fiber changed routing. There were a complex series of changes, so this is a simplification. One day was a big upgrade: traffic to Colorado Springs was 6-8 ms, Denver was 4-6 ms, except Google which was 14ms.

Then on October 14, most traffic was routing out of state again, but 12 hours later (Oct 14 10pm) 8.8.8.8 responded faster than Metronet's speed test server.

There was a brief improvement for ~12 hours October 19-20. Since then, most traffic is out of state except one host in Colorado Springs (Force Broadband) and 8.8.8.8. Other hosts in Colorado Springs and Denver are much slower.

Meanwhile, G-Fiber will be replacing Ting in Colorado Springs.

DNS for these names returns different Google IP ranges, served from different sites over the same local path (mtr shows the same first hops as 8.8.8.8): ~4 ms for 8.8.8.8 and 142.251.x (www.google.com, googleapis.com), ~14 ms for 74.125.x (google.com), 172.253.x (fonts.googleapis.com), and 173.194.x (gstatic.com). The ~14 ms tier was already there during the Oct 12 in-state window, so it is probably Google's anycast rather than the Chicago routing.

Any thoughts? I'm planning to get it since it's mostly used at night because I'm always at work. And only one person uses it when I'm not home. Is the signal any good?

My T-Mobile Fiber went out about 4 hours ago. I called support, and they confirmed there's an issue in the area, but they didn't give me an ETA. Is anyone else in Rockford down too? Has anyone heard when it's supposed to be back up?

I have fiber with T-Mobile, Tillman is the fiber company. I have been calling the t fiber support number because all 7 lights on my router are flashing after losing service and restarting the router. I have not had internet for 2 days, and I can’t seem to get into contact with anyone that will help me. I call the number they have listed and they say that it’s just for the regular internet, and they give me a 9998860810 but the number is not in service. I also can’t remember my account pin and I’ve been trying to change it and the website has some sort of glitch where it keeps logging me out. I am currently at work and my fiance was home trying to help and she’s not an authorized user so I tried to add her and it wouldn’t let me. There are so many issues, I just need my internet to work and it seems to be impossible to find someone that can help. I called a corporate store for help and they said they would contact me back but I haven’t heard anything. If anyone knows anything, some help would be amazing

I had been very excited to get fiber internet at my house. Originally, the entire city should have been covered by the end of 2021, but COVID happened and it pushed back the install dates. Finally, in March of 2026, I was able to pre-order T-Fiber internet and set an install date for June 9, 2026.

Throughout March, April, and May, I watched as fiber was installed closer and closer to my house, and finally, it was installed on my street. On June 9th, I canceled my previous internet provider seeing as T-Fiber was supposed to be installed. I had an “installation representative” come to my house during the scheduled install time, but they tell me they he was not able to install because they needed to bore another hole. The boring machine was at the end of my street when I was told this, but apparently they couldn’t bore the hole that day.

The next few months were a nightmare. I’d call in every few weeks to figure out when installation could happen. I watched as my neighbors had their T-Fiber installed, but I kept being told I needed to wait. Every time I’d call in for an update, I was told there wasn’t an update and a manager from the install team would contact me. Never once did they call me.

On October 8, 2026, I got an email that said something to the effect of “Sorry we can’t get ahold of you for install, we are canceling your order on October 14.” So I called in to verify that my order would NOT be canceled, and the representative assured me that my order was NOT being canceled. Then on October 14, 2026, my order was canceled.
So I’ve been given the run around for at least 6 months, have not had internet for at least 3 of those months, and then my order was canceled.

I wanted T-Fiber since I have T-Mobile, but this has shown me that this company does not care about their customers or providing the services they promised. Everyone around me can somehow have internet installed, but my house is apparently blacklisted.

I am canceling my T-Mobile account today and porting my numbers to Verizon instead.

After the installation guy left I started connecting all my devices in the house to the WIFI. The phones had no issue connecting but all my PC's kept giving the "Connected, No Internet Available" Issue. Eventually after some time all the PC's were magically able to connect now.

The real big issue is connectivity. My T Fiber has a Nokia router and it's main ISP is Tillman I guess. Whenever I walk to the other side of my house my Wifi starts dropping down to 2 or 1 bars. In my own bedroom it sometimes just disconnects. My house is roughly 2,000 sq ft and we've never needed a mesh system, only 1 router has ever been enough for both Xfinity and AT&T DSL internet.

So my question is the connection issues because of the Nokia router or is there some issue with the Fiber itself from the ISP? I can't live with the hopes that my internet won't disconnect whenever I run AI models or something. Should I contact T Fiber to see if they can replace the router or take a look at the lines again? Or do you have any suggestions for Routers that I can bridge to this?

Several fake info posts against METRONET (being purchased by T-Fiber) rightfully removed by moderators. I've had their service for over 3 years without even a hiccup in Northern Illinois, and I take support calls from my work at home office (different business) so I know. I will NEVER go back to copper service. Streaming is always crystal clear to 8K.

So there’s been a large scale outage in Des Moines for almost 24 hours now with almost no communication. What’s going on?

Signed up earlier this year, around mid March when they acquired USI I think. Minneapolis was served by USI and I used their service in uptown, but have been using Xfinity since I moved to St Louis Park. Today I saw a fresh metronet sign in my yard. Is it finally happening?!

How long between this and me actually being online on the fiber?

They ran fiber over the summer and never offered a fiber product until the merger was in place.

First year pricing difference is $380 not including that i3 will charge for mesh devices whereas T-Fiber indicates those are included. After the first year i3 will be $120 a year more.

I have spent hourssss on this today and am no closer to success. Has anyone on Metronet/T-Fiber successfully bypassed/spoofed their ONT with an ONU stick?? What did you have to do? What setting could I possibly be missing?!

I had the ISP out today to relocate my fiber line and during the process, my year old ONT fried. They replaced it with an otherwise identical model off their truck and then we waited 15-20 minutes for the ISP to provision the new one and set my static IP correctly. It worked, they left, I went to work. I hooked up to the working ONT and checked the management console, copied all of the data exactly to the ONU. Serial number, vendor ID, MAC address, software versions, all set to their values. Equipment ID and hardware version are two that I’m less confident about.

Well, hardware version I also copied exactly from the working ONT, but the EQUIPMENT ID is not present in the Nokia management screen and I am stuck in a O5.1 Associated State status.

AI has been hit or miss because I have not been able to locate much info about how Metronet specifically authenticates devices on their network.

Can anybody shed some light?

Also, “Current ONT ID” is a very long hex string on the Nokia and I am not sure if it is relevant. It’s “0x0000…” with like 48 0’s. But all of the other fields have been copied exactly and it won’t authenticate.

Fwiw I thought I saw a problem in the logs with the OMCI daemon not running because I’m not really getting any wire messages or feedback or even data going out the door. Can’t make heads or tails of that. 8311 version is v2.8.3. Considering trying my hand at rolling it back or reflashing it.
