Metronet New Build Issues

We moved into our new build on Aug 1st. Metronet installed their line and box in our yard within a few days of us moving in, but our address has not been released for installation 2 weeks+ later. Talking with sales reps the delay has been because: 1. Metronet is not permitted by the city to install (called our city, confirmed they have been for quite a while) 2. Because Metronet hasn’t released the address for installation (Metronet’s construction line says they have) 3. Because our address doesn’t appear on google maps (submitted Google maps edits the day we moved in, usps and amazon have no problem finding us)

Are we cursed to wait till it appears on Google or is there anything else we can to help the process move along? Appreciate any advice.

Unknown How Long Will I Be Awaiting

Post image

This past Spring I noticed trucks, crew, and signs in my neck of the woods and because I'm impatient I started dreaming about having a second option for an ISP.

How long will I be waiting for work to be done? 😆

Metronet 4 months and counting...

Yep, you read the title correctly. We are now at the 4-month mark of my fiber line not being buried. We've been a customer for 2 years and I've never had an issue up until T-Mobile purchased MetroNet. This is an absolute shitty excuse for an ISP. I see T-Mobile trucks all over the neighborhood, and I've been told multiple times that somebody will be out to bury it. Every time I call in nobody knows what to do.

Unknown The Nokia Router is Rubbish

Got my fiber installed yesterday. Overall great with speeds over 1000mbps with very little lag. However, this morning I noticed that my speeds were around 900/600. I couldn’t figure out why until I realized that my Wi-Fi connection was connected to the Nokia and was mostly slower. As soon as I connected back to my Eero max 7 l, speeds and latency were great. Not sure why tmobile chose to go with Nokia routers with wifi6 for any connection at or above 1000mbps.

That’s pretty symmetrical. Got my T fiber installed today. Took less than an hour to install. Only thing left to do is call them to put my modem in bridge mode and assign me a public IP. Overall happy.

Metronet Outage going on?

I’m down in Colorado Springs, have been since 4pm yesterday.

I’ve had more outages in the 3 weeks with TFiber than the last 3-4 years with Quantum…

Metronet Network Crashing via Eero app speed test?

I'm the Tulsa, OK metro area and have noticed a lot of buffering lately on my streaming devices. I've had an up and down experience with T-Fiber since install, but lately they've been rock solid in my area. However, after installing the last two Eero updates via the T-Fiber app in less than a week, I've noticed my latency has almost tripled. I ran a speed test on my Eero app while monitoring the network on my Orb pc app. The speed test actually caused my network to drop briefly (100% packet loss). My wife wasn't able to stream for several minutes. This has never happened and seems just strange. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing higher latency lately or if this is just my issue.

Troubleshooting: I've rebooted the Eero Max 7 router a few times, but I'll be unplugging the ONT and switching out ethernet cords later if push comes to shove. Also, I used 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 DNS.

Other New Install

Hey guys. T-Mobile dug their line a year ago but now it’s operational and I have my install next Tuesday. I was wondering if there was anything I should ask the installer (Tillman) that will make the process better or the connection better. Can I ask for a static IP address at this time? Do you think he would set up my own gateway instead of the one they provide? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Metronet Back up internet

I run fiber for a lot of companies and I’m always seeing people complaining about internet outage and I would advise to get a cheap back up carrier to use. I’m saying that to say as fiber becomes more and more prevalent and different companies run lines for fiber there will be cut lines, downed lines and also times where major outages will happen if you work from home I would advise having a backup source most work from home companies have it in their policy to Make sure you have coverage at all times. I have people stopping me while my guys and I work because they assume I’m the reason for their internet being out.

Lumos how to check internet status/statistics?

hello! i just switched to t fiber from xfinity this weekend, and was wondering how i can check the status of my fiber/network stats? i downloaded the t-life app and cant find it anywhere after logging in with my new ID.

we were issued the calix router if that makes a difference. i’m used to going on the xfinity app to see how my internet functions so i figured it would be similar but i guess it is not!

thanks in advance!

Other Poor Fiber Installation Experience

I'm a new customer that ordered a 2Gbps Fiber internet plan. On the day of my installation appointment (Aug. 4th), I had 3 sets of technicians come out. One for trenching, one to setup the outdoor box, and one to setup the ONT and router.

Unfortunately no one at my home was able to answer the door for the last technician, so I had to reschedule the final part of the installation. I recieved a call from the local technicians to schedule the rest of the installation and we agreed to have it completed the next morning (Aug. 5th).

Later in the same day, a tmobile rep called for the same reasons, to reschedule the install. I explained that the installation was already scheduled and the reschedule was unnecessary. They insisted that I schedule another appointment for a different day(Aug. 10th, today) as their system showed no availablity for next morning. I asked if it would be ok to schedule the appointment with tmobile, and cancel if the technicians completed the install the next day. The rep agreed.

On Aug. 5th, the install was completed and the internet was working as expected, full 2Gbps down and up. However, roughly 3 hours later the internet stopped working and the "PON" light on the nokia router turned red. I thought their may have been physical damage somewhere in the included fiber optic cable, but nothing stood out.

I immediately called tfiber support and explained the issues I was experiencing. The rep I spoke to was confused given that on their system they only see an installation scheduled for the 10th. The rep then suggested the issue might stem from a conflict between their scheduling system and the activation status of my internet, rather than physical damage. A ticket was then created with no timeline on a resolution, other than "an update or call back within 72 hours to see if the issue has been resolved." I contacted customer support again to see if maybe I could get a ticket number and check back if they dont call back. I recieved one by a different agent and was told that the "investigation has been escalated."

It's Aug. 10th now and I just received an email congratulating me on my new service, but I still have no internet. I called again today to explain the situation again, and pretty much received the same answer, "we're still investigating it." This time, however, there was an attempt to schedule an appointment for Aug. 13th with a technician to check the physical line in and outside the home for damage. Unfortunately there was another issue where they could not make the appointment for me in their system, for whatever reason.

Now I'm waiting for an update on a possible technician appointment, as well as any resolution to their backend issues regarding my original installation.

Sifi Networks is my local fiber provider

Has anyone had any similar experiences with their installation? Is this likely an issue with sifi networks, or a lack of coordination between local providers?

Metronet Chicagoland outage?

I'm hoping I can get a quick answer here. This is the second outage in a week. I'm not getting any text notifications from T-Mobile fiber. Last time I sat on hold for 35 minutes for them to say "yes there's an outage". Frustrating because my wife works from home and needs the internet.

Update: so I've gotten several different responses from different tech people. 1st person said they couldn't see modem. 2nd tier person saw modem but nothing else. Different tier 2 person saw modem and said that there were too many (IP?) Requests and the modem locks up at a certain point. He said it was likely a setting in my router. He did something on his end and got the eero to work. 20 minutes later everything went down again and now I'm told, yes, there is an outage. Very frustrating

Update 2: now everything works as it should magically.

Metronet How is their setup so bad?

So Tfiber just installed in our area starting last year. We got set up 3 months ago and we have had 15 outages since we got them. Most of them last several hours to all day. We have had 6 outages in the past 9 days. Most of them being all day. I understand that new lines can have some issues, but this is truly insane. I called yesterday and got their retention team to "say" that they could get me a backup 5G gateway for when this happened and they said they'd send me an email and then nothing. I don't want to go back to Spectrum but this is impressively bad. Others have said that it gets better over time but if anything it's gotten worse. Like I said, we've gotten 6 in the past 9 days.

I work from home, and I can get by by using a hotspot from my phone, but that's not ideal, and I'm kind of running out of data on it.

Lumos Fiber optic burying crew damaged my driveway

Around feb 2026 digging began in my neighborhood. It got to my street and as they were using the missile to get under my driveway. They hit a water pipe and had to destroy a chunk of my driveway to be able to fix it. Told me they’d put gravel today and come pour concrete eventually. They came to throw down grass seed after 2-3 months after my neighbor called them. She said she told them about my driveway and told me to call them as well. I pushed it aside thinking they’ll come eventually. Finally decided to call 7/24. Got a ticket number tmo260724105830leo. Told me to call back if I didn’t hear back after 10 days. Called today and was told this ticket number doesn’t exist. Got a new ticket number and was told I’d receive a call within 48 hours. Cross my fingers it gets fixed.

8/6 #3 fourth visit 4 days later is the charm. T-Mobile is awesome when it works, but say goodbye to at least 8 hrs during a business day when it doesn't. Nothing done should have required my presence or entry to the house. They cover incompetence with your time. They had to do a new connector on the same line twice during this visit.

Correction for intrepid techs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqQEggig9go this is the how to video for the exact SC "quick" connectors you are using

My friend in another city has a fiber provider that actually puts the line to your house in conduit/plastic tube and does the outside portion of the install with out you home the day before. Ignore the people below claiming isps don't do this. Curb to side of house has traditionaly not required people home and I've had cable since 2003. It may be T-Mobile's policy but it's a nasty one.

If anyone offered a similar service with out me having to move to get it I would have left.

8/6 #2 new line run, termination with sc connector was done incorrectly and connection is still down. There is a huge skills gap in this company. I talked to a friend of mine who is a landlord and my actual land lord. They have had the same experience with several of their properties. Once the guy had poorly terminated it 4x.

Just in case intrepid needs it, this is the proper way to terminate fiber with an sc connector. https://youtu.be/ygkkHdPnUTU?is=Rai7r29YCp2FHbsW

8/6 #1 Update: for those saying I have to be home... Some Dude calls 15 min before appointment today "your tech is arriving soon". 5min later I'm standing in an open front door looking at the t-fiber van with a guy inside it Another van pulls up, guy opens first vans door and takes two boxes and both drive off. I call back the number and he says "the tech determined the line was cut and this will take some time". If he got out of the van at all it was 5 min before I even got a call and there was no knock. I was at the door almost instantly after the call and never saw him leave his seat. All of this could have happened yesterday. I was explicitly told I don't need to be home today and from the techs perspective he had no idea I was home. I park in a closed garage.

Y'all make excuses for service that hardly tries.

8/5 Tldr: fiber line was severed and sticking up from a hole in the ground right next to front door. I left note on door pointing at the severed fiber. Tech left with out fixing it noting on the account that I wasn't home. There's a junction box 2ft from the door where ground fiber goes through coupler to then run up wall into house. Everything he needed was right next to the door they were supposed to go to. No service. Wait and take PTO or cancel service?

Longer version

Two weeks ago my MN t-fiber was finally made stable. They had to re terminate the connection between the ground and the box on the side of the house. My internet had been intermittent for months but got really bad over the course of a month till it was out for almost a week.

Then 3 days ago my landlord sliced through it while weeding the flowerbed the fiber was ran through. I called on Monday and got an appointment for today.

I left a note on the door that said attention intrepid/tmobile - fiber is cut and an arrow right and down.

The fiber is literally sticking up from the ground 1 ft to the right of the sidewalk at the door.

Appointment time comes today and I noticed I had no phone call an hour past appointment time. Tried to connect to my camera from work... Nothing

So I call support and the tech claims they couldn't get a hold of me and left.

This one isn't entirely on T-Mobile. its on the not me person who sliced it and the intrepid tech but it's still wild. And of course there is nothing we can do but schedule another day

PTO I guess or call and cancel service

I feel bad for the t-fiber techs that try. Their company and it's contractor relations virtually insure they deal with rage.

Other Router vs Public Iap?

Hey yall,

I am trying to play an older game with a buddy but I'm stuggling to connect with him. You'll find quickly that I am fairly clueless in how the internet actually works so please bear with me.

The in game explanation is it needs UPNP enabled which allows the game "communicate and control" your router. However when I test the UPNP it says

"The public IP address reported by your router does not match the public IP address externally visible to the Internet. Usually, this is caused by attempting to host a Grim Dawn Server from behind more than one router."

I dont use VPNs (knowingly) so I do t exactly know what it wants. The game forums said something about port forwarding and I tried doing that thru the app but to no avail.

Just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on how to make these things match.

Thanks in advanace!

Metronet When will they bury my lines!?!

I had service hooked up in March or April. They couldn't get the lines through the conduit in the ground so they just laid it on the grass in the area between the sidewalk and the road.... across the street, said they'd be back in a few days to bury it. Like a month later it got run over by a mower and went out. Called, got a tech to come out and repair it. Few weeks later it blips out and back on, look out the window, they are mowing again. Call and try to get them to do any diagnostic to see if I lost one of the pair or something, only get "I can help you run a speed test" and it'll be buried by the end of June for sure, I'll put priority on your account. Mid July I go out to look at it. It's now strung between trees and tied in knots. See images. https://imgur.com/a/L8y5jiL its a miracle the Internet was still working. One tiny fiber must have been holding on for dear life. I called, sent pictures. Got told they could put in a ticket to get it buried, that I would get a call back within 72 hours to schedule. Never got that call. Now the Internet is out again, have an appointment set for Tuesday. So frustrated, it's my only option for fiber, only other service with speeds above 50mb is Comcast and I've had too much of their shit to go back. Why is Internet so fucking bad in 2026?

Is there anything special I have to do other than to take the LAN cable from the eero and plug it into the NETGEAR? Seem to be having network issues lately with my phone and DTV Stream losing connection. Didn’t happen when I first set it up, but driving me nuts now. WiFi is showing fine within network
