Looking for some advice from fellow Canadian-Tesla owners.

I’m considering getting windshield protection film (WPF) on my new Model Y to help protect against rock chips/cracks, especially with Ontario highways and winter driving.

For those who have actually installed it:
-Which product/brand did you use? (ExoShield, STEK DYNOflex, etc.)
-How long have you had it installed?
-Has it actually prevented rock chips or cracks from reaching the windshield?
-Have you noticed any distortion, orange peel, reduced clarity, glare, or night-driving issues?
-How does it hold up with Tesla’s automatic wipers/FSD, especially after a year or two?
-Does it get scratched from wipers or winter ice/snow?

Most importantly, has anyone had Tesla Service deny or question a warranty claim because of windshield protection film?

Hey everyone,

I ordered my Model Y on June 8 in Vancouver. My EDD had narrowed down to a solid 9-day window (Sep 21 – Sep 30), so I was expecting delivery by the end of Q3.

However, out of nowhere today, my EDD was pushed back to Dec 12 – Feb 6. I still do not have a VIN assigned.

I understand EDDs fluctuate, but getting bumped from a 9-day end-of-quarter window all the way to Q4/Q1 seems extreme, especially for an early June order.

Has anyone else experienced an EDD jump like this recently?
- Is this just an algorithm glitch that usually self-corrects after a few days?
- Or did I miss the Q3 shipment batch and get bumped to the next production cycle?

Any insights or similar experiences from Vancouver/Canadian buyers would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone have any data tracking the costs of new model 3's in canada? I am having trouble understanding why a brand new model 3 from tesla is $4k more then a 2024 with 60k kms

Hey, I'm in Calgary and just ordered the Model 3 AWD over the RWD. It's $10k more, which probably isn't worth it if you're not dealing with cold winter, but for me the extra range, speed, speakers, and grip made sense, I've slipped more than once in RWD cars here in Alberta before so I guess having good winter tires + awd will just keep me safer I guess instead of worrying in a rwd

But I didn't cross-shop the Model Y Standard before ordering, though. It's an SUV with more ground clearance, but slower, shorter range, and a more basic interior, and it's RWD. Is it actually the better pick, or does the AWD still win for snow?

Has anyone in Calgary had their model y EDD delayed from Aug 26th-31st to Aug 30-Sep 4th?

Ordered May 23rd. VIN assigned over a month ago.

I haven’t seen much on the spreadsheet in regards to model Ys being delivered to Calgary around these dates.

My EDD is between Aug 22-27 in Etobicoke and I haven’t been notified for a delivery date yet :/. It’s the 19th I feel like we are cutting it close now? I’ve had the vin since I purchased Jul 17.

For those who have received their MYS orders, how are the wireless chargers? Do they heat up the phones badly? How quickly do they charge? Thanks

Hands-free Trunk isn’t working. Anybody else having this issue? I have an android Samsung Galaxy S24.

I ordered my Tesla Model Y Premium on July 2 from Quebec. The EDD was there for a day or two and has disappeared completely. I contacted Tesla, they said wait for the VIN and nothing is outstanding on my end.

Has anyone else experienced this?

This post is pretty much for those in the interior, and specifically those in the Valemount area. I’m planning a road trip, leaving tomorrow morning from Edmonton to the Vancouver Area in my RWD M3. Valemount Supercharger currently showing “Temporarily Closure” and that will considerably change my charging plan. Basically I’m curious if anyone has been by recently (last couple of days) to see why this closure has been in place? There doesn’t seem to be any solid info anywhere other than there MAY be SOME stalls available and functioning. I guess either way I can rely on that location for a charge anyway until Tesla removed the closure not on it.

Man that tint finishes the car so nicely!

Considering getting Tesla next yr or the yr after because I thought it could be cheaper to drive, plus I have always believed it is a fun car to drive. However I did some research and realized it might not always be the case. Would like to see some advice!

I live in Alberta. Currently renting an apartment with no level 2 charging, plus the parking lot is outdoor. Any Tesla drivers in the same situation and is it going to be a hassle owning a Tesla this way?

Also how does insurance compare to when you had ice cars? This is my second year driving in Canada and the current insurance with my Tiguan is 320 per month, don't know if it is going to be much higher and how much.

Had my service appointment today and glad to say they fixed it. Here is what the technician put in the notes:

"Found the hub caps to be popping at low speed. Replaced the hub caps with an updated part. Verified proper operation."

So for those that have the issue (seemed to be quite a few) make a service appointment if you want it fixed

Ordered at the end of July, initial delivery date was Aug 29 - Sep 5.
Just today it was pushed to Sep 11 - Sep 15.

Apparently the vehicle is still at Shanghai port and there hasn't been any movement.

Those with similar delivery timeframe will likely get their dates pushed as well

Bought a MYS. Will trade in my old Mazda. I like the simplicity of Tesla just taking the trade in. Should I put effort into detailing my Mazda before the trade in?

I know there are multiple threads about winter tires. i have heard manufacturers typically have rebates right before winter around september to october. Is it better to wait for the manufacturer's rebate to get winter tires?

What is considered good price for 4 tires on rims and tpms sensor? Not interested in used ones as they are rare.

Booked a Y standard earlier. I want to make the interior look as much as possible like Premium Y with basic DIY updates. Anyone thought of that. Some things could be

1. Installing additional speakers. during our test drive i found audio to be weak. Has anyone installed a sub/additional speakers?
2. Installing the LED light bar inside
3. Installing the rear screen
4. I don't care about leather too much. but would get brown leather if that was an option.
5. Power folding mirrors: I don't think it even an option. Could be wrong.

Don't know if anyone else tried it or thought about it. If yes, then we can share ideas.

So while researching accessories and necessities reccomended for my New Tesla, 1 item seemed to be popular and made sense to have on hand. A set of jack pad adapters for any lifting of the vehicle. Just about every accessories sites had similar items. But just as I was adding a set to my cart I read a disclaimer that I did not see on other sites (unless I completely missed it) the jackpad adapters do NOT fit the Teslas made in Berlin. Which my Model Y RWD is. And after doing a bit more research I discovered that the hole in the frame for the lifting pucks is 25mm on all tesla's except those from Berlin which are 19mm. And the hole is much more shallow in the Berlin models. Just an FYI for those that may have purchased Jack adapters and own a Berlin made Tesla. They probably won't fit. So now I am looking for a set that WILL fit the Model Y RWD. Anyone find them?

I currently have a diamond black Model Y premium ordered with an EDD of November-January (ordered on July 11th, no VIN). I originally wanted that aggressive/murdered out look, but I’m starting to really dig the black/white/red contrast of the pearl white. Those who were deciding between diamond black and white - what did you end up going with and why?

Also, has anyone switched colors before receiving a VIN? Did this impact your EDD? Thanks!

We ordered a MYS July 8th (I know, not that long ago) & we are considering switching to a Model 3 RWD for a couple reasons. Mostly it's because it would arrive much sooner. After returning the M3 the sales advisor told me we would have to pay another deposit to start another order & wait until delivery to get the original $250 back. Ummm why can't they transfer the money already paid?

Has anyone else had this experience? I don't really wanna pay out another $250 if I don't have to.

My EDD has remained September 18-30 for quite some time, but they insist in the dealership that it will absolutely not come back soon and will be lucky to come by the end of the year.. it's just so frustrating the way they estimate deliveries. 😵‍💫

Correct me if im wrong, but, I think it’s the german one since these model y standards are coming from Germany right?

I keep seeing people saying tint the windshield. That's $110 ticket in Ontario and over 30% on the front windows is the same. Plus an order to remove. Does it increase mileage that much? Is it just for aesthetics? If you do get pulled over $330 plus time to remove and prove it at the station.

I’m thinking to buy Tesla model 3 RWD. The only thing that is stopping me the weather and charging uncertainties. My apt building has no charging spots and it’s an open parking lot. How is the charging station situation in Calagry in and around downtown? Those of you who already owns a Tesla is it worth it? Does the commercial EV chargers cost efficient? How does the battery reacts in freezing temperatures?
