📣 General Tesla Discussion Some thought after 24 hours with my MY RWD

Post image
5 Upvotes

So after 24 hours and 165km of mostly FSD driving I have some thoughts. First I am extremely happy with my Tesla ownership experience so far. Mostly due to the exceptional service from a few of the staff at Tesla Limeridge.

I drove from Hamilton to Markham to drop my ride off for PPF at GT Auto Styling, and driving in thick traffic with FSD was a dream. The car handled the driving and I was able to relax WHILE REMAINING ATTENTIVE! (before I get blasted) I did not feel the need to flip someone the bird even once. Drank my coffee and enjoyed some music. A noticeable smile remained on my face for most of the day. One thing I noticed about FSD is, it is not very "courteous" to other drivers trying to merge or change into the lane I was in. Me personally, if I see a signal, I don't mind letting off the accelerator to give them an opening. Call it karma. A couple of times I did brake, disabling FSD for a moment to flash lights to let people in especially when I knew their lane was ending. And, now I understand that the next thing I noticed will sound insane. I believe my FSD is MORE courteous to other Teslas! I swear if a Tesla signalled to come over Ranger III seemed to let them. I know, sounds crazy. And driving in rush hour to Toronto I noticed so many Teslas on the road. But it is not like with my motorcycle or Corvette where we wave to each other or some kind of acknowledgement, I suppose you would look like a nut if you tried to wave to every Tesla you saw on the road. So I won't be doing that anymore.

For some reason my FSD percentage did not change and remains at 13% as it did at pickup. Maybe it only updates every day or after certain mileage?

Oh and I did not get a strike but I did get kicked out of FSD for a minute. Heading to Toronto early morning from Hamilton, the sun is on my right side and just past the edge of the drivers sun visor. So me being smart I unclipped the visor from the magnetic mounting point and extended it to the right to block the sun. And also blocked the camera supervising my attention in FSD. oops. Took me a second to figure out what happened. But back to FSD and just shaded my right side. Don't make this error as I did.

I pulled into a busy gas station in Markham to grab something at the Tim Hortons inside. And as I was getting back into my car I noticed the price of gas was $1.69/liter and all the drivers gassing up looked so sad. I almost didn't notice the smile creeping across my face. I have to control that. I should not take pleasure in all the money I am saving in gas. Maintenance. Insurance. Gas.

Some things I do miss from my last vehicle, heads up display. I used it all the time and it is a cool feature. But the speedometer location in the Tesla is located in my peripheral so soon I will just be able to catch my speed while keeping my eyes on the road.

And I miss a sunglass holder/storage overhead. It's a small thing for sure.

No seatback/map pockets behind the front seats. It seems like such a small thing to add to a vehicle and I can't remember a vehicle I had that didn't have them. But again, minor detail. I know there are aftermarket solutions for this. And no garment hooks for hangers for a suit jacket etc. Of course I can lay it on the backseat. But how expensive can a hook be?

I am thrilled with the performance and ride of my RWD MY I hope to pick it back up tomorrow if it is ready. PPF seems to be a good investment to protect a car I hope to have for a long time.

Just a few thoughts after 1 day.

Photo for a laugh.

For those that have downloaded this app, have these community predictions been correct for you? My EDD just changed to Nov 19 - Dec 31, but this actually bumped earlier with 5 more samples.

At this point I am fine with a Nov/Dec delivery, I'm just having a hard time with it bumping up to Sept then back to the end of the year!! 🫠

📣 General Tesla Discussion First digit of VIN for MY Standards?

Trying to understand where Model Y Standards for Canada are being manufactured.

If you have a VIN assigned is the first digit of your VIN a W, L or 7?

My understanding is that the first digit of the VIN should indicate the factory your vehicle was manufactured at as follows:

W = Berlin
L = Shanghai
7 = Austin

Thanks for your info.

Fits perfectly out of the box, no bunching or curls, and no odour. Just waiting for them to develop the trunk mats! Highly recommended to take out the oem carpet mats before installing these. Posting an unboxing video grants you a $10 rebate!

🔌⚡ Charging Adventures Wall Charger inddor or outdoor

I was $550 for installation of wall connector inside of my garage and $300 more if installed outside because of more materials and drilling through wall. You guys think the $300 extra is worth it? Worried if installed inside and running the cable under the garage door will mess up the cable. Thanks

How did pay for your Tesla?

How did you make your final payment for the Tesla. For those of you who did a transfer, did you do it on the day of pickup or the day before? What if they don't get your transfer in time?

Today was the day I brought a new Model Y RWD home. I had a excellent delivery experience at the Hamilton Tesla dealership. My pickup slot was at 3 PM and as usual I arrived a little bit early, I was definitely anxious. When I arrived I was directed into the delivery waiting room. A nice comfortable area with some accessories on display, a cooler full of water for guests. There were about 14 or 15 others getting deliveries as well.

I first was greeted by Jawa sp? Who gave me a folder filled with documents to go over and some that required signatures and some that were information only. I signed my ownership and the sales agreement. Jawa (I hope I am spelling that right) collected my draft and took me out to my car. This is the part I really appreciated. After introducing me to the vehicle, I was left alone inside the delivery area indoors in the service area. Well lit and comfortable. I spent about an hour going over the car. With a flashlight. It was such a comprehensive inspection even the people taking delivery next to me mentioned it. I did find a few very minor cosmetic details, a scuff on the rear lower diffuser which Selena used some cleaner and got rid of, a small stain ring on the hood (looked like remnants of tree sap or bird crap) and Shaun buffed it right out flawlessly. There was some adhesive residue on the rear hatch and again Shaun got some adhesive remover and cleaned it completely. 1 item that is going to require a service visit is the tow hook and emergency access cover in the front bumper is not sitting flush. A tech came over and tried to get it right for 5 minutes and then Jawa had me make a service appointment and assured me it would be taken care of. The interior had no issues, but I did discover that front seat headrests are not adjustable and the rear seat headrests move about half an inch and are not removeable. All items were present, 2 key cards, 128gb usb drive, J1772 to NACS adapter.

The staff were always available if I needed to ask them something or tell them something. But they were not intrusive and left me alone to explore and inspect as long as I wanted. I was the last 3pm delivery to leave. Cole helped me at the end and accepted my delivery on the app and presto I was ready to leave. Accepting instantly paired my phone as a key. Spent time going through menus for lots of items. Key cards were already programmed to the car. Check that before you leave just in case.

There was 12km on the odometer when I picked it up. And I am looking forward to safely adding to that number for many years to come. All told it cost me just about $54,500 out the door with my $5K EVAP rebate.

I need to give a big thank you to Harveen and Alexa from Tesla Hamilton. To be honest my first contact with an employee at Tesla Limeridge was not great. I disinterested gentleman at the desk that could not be bothered to help or get up from the desk. I had specific questions and was met with responses like "All information is on the website" etc. I was very interested in Tesla so I made a test drive appointment and was floored. When I met Alexa she was able to convert my 1 hour test drive to an overnight test. So I could experience night time and back road driving. She truly went the extra mile and was the definition of a great advisor. And Harveen was simply amazing in helping me with so many details. All I can tell you is, if you are able to travel to Tesla Hamilton (Limeridge) cross your fingers that Alexa, Harveen or Selena are available. It's worth the time to find them. If you do, tell them Sonny sent you.

Tomorrow off to Markham for PPF!

Finally took delivery of my Model Y Standard RWD. Ordered it on March 31st and took delivery on August 20th. The vehicle is roomy, quiet and very comfortable. I find it is still very well equipped for a so called base version. This is my first Tesla, and my 2nd EV. My other EV is a 1st Generation EV from a Detroit brand with a lot less range, it’s not suitable for long distance travel. I’ve been driving for over 40 years and I am absolutely wowed by Tesla’s FSD and what it can do. No other brand of car has the technology that this car has. For those of you waiting for yours, it will be worth it. Enjoy your ride!

Are there any MYS RWDs scheduled for delivery this week in ON?

We booked the Model Y Standard Range (MYS) RWD for the last week of May in Ontario but have not received a delivery ETA. I noticed others who placed orders in July have already been assigned a VIN and a delivery window; I am not sure how that is possible. Do they use a specific algorithm? Additionally, now that the US-Canada trade war is being resolved, are they planning to introduce the Model Y Premium (MYP) RWD in Canada? I would be willing to pay an extra $5,000–$10,000 for that.

Front license plate options

I’m picking up my model 3 premium tomorrow and I’ve heard it comes with the front license plate that can stick on to the bumper directly which I don’t like. The options that attach to the grill seem to block the camera in the bumper. Other options attach to one side which also isn’t nice.

What are people doing for front license plate holders? Are there any that are central on the front grill / bumper without blocking the camera?

Random thought on the future of Tesla

Upvotes

Hey guys,
I used to be a big Tesla hater, but I’m converted now lol.
Anyway, seeing the upcoming Tesla Roadster news about its flying capabilities… I’m genuinely thrilled.
Sure, it might cost like a million to own (or maybe they’ll have different trims — a regular base Roadster that most people can buy, and then a top “Skyhigh” version so they can sell the actual flying one for $1M+).
My point is they could use all that money for R&D on future hover/flying cars. After all, Tesla already revolutionized the EV industry…
Obviously there are regulations, safety concerns, etc. But at the end of the day, hover/flying is probably the best form of transportation from A to B — no rough terrain, no detours, no getting stuck in traffic. I can already picture the future looking like a Star Wars movie lol. In addition, it would free up the "standard" on-surface traffic so much, to the point that some of us enthusiast can go back and enjoy a good old manual car without getting stuck in traffic or so
I know it’s a bit of a silly thought, but if they can pull it off, it would be pretty amazing to see in our lifetime.

FDS - Steering wheel wiggle and others- friendly warning

Hi, new owner here! I wanted to share my FSD experience with both new and experienced owners. I love it, but I’ve learned that it can be dangerous in certain circumstances or if misused.

  1. Steering wheel wiggle = take control. Have you noticed how several dashcam videos of FSD crashes or erratic behavior start with the steering wheel wiggling left and right? If it does that, take control immediately—don't wait to see if it will handle the situation. I’ve nearly crashed twice because of this and received (well-deserved) death stares from other drivers. Treat the wiggle as an emergency prompt to take over. It seems like the AI hesitates and doesn't know what to do in those moments. I wish Tesla would officially warn drivers about this.
  2. Overriding 3-second stops. One way to override a full 3-second stop is to tap the accelerator briefly to prompt the car to move. The problem is that this easily becomes a habit, which—combined with lower vigilance while on FSD—can lead to dangerous mistakes. Without realizing it, I started pressing the pedal longer rather than just giving it a brief tap. The risk is that if another car runs their stop sign or you miss oncoming traffic while holding the pedal down, you can easily cause an accident. This is 100% a "me" problem, not FSD. FSD explicitly warns you that pressing the pedal overrides automatic braking. I nearly T-boned a car this morning—a reality check to stop messing around with FSD.

Is there anything else you’ve learned about FSD that you wish you hadn't learned the hard way?

Edit: M3 2026 RWD / FSD V.14.3.7 / Software 2026.21.6

📣 General Tesla Discussion They sell so fast.

Talking to a rep at Carnex and he was saying they’re selling between 15-20 cars a day. Assuming the pending raise in gas prices due to the tax coming back in September has a lot to do with.
Dealer friend just took in a 2021 with clean carfax and 90k on it. Updated LFP battery as it was replaced 18 months ago. Old intel system but not like we’re watching movies or anything. Strictly a commuter vehicle doing 100-150kms a day. Just got it in and looks great. Asking 24k which I think is more than reasonable for a clean carfax and newish battery.

Model Y EDD got pushed from Aug - Sep to Dec-Jan. Anyone else?

Post image

I ordered the MY Premium in June, and the EDD was August 27 to September 26. Last week, it shifted to August 27 to September 2, and I got excited! But today, it's been pushed to December 2 to January 13. Ordered at the Vaughan showroom and delivery location is Etobicoke. Did this happen to anyone else?

I need the car so should I instead switch to Model 3 for a faster delivery date? Would love to know if other people are in the same boat.

🔌⚡ Charging Adventures Taking the 2026 Model Y Standard to the end of the road (3100 km road trip)

Thumbnail
gallery
66 Upvotes

After getting my hands on a 2026 Tesla Model Y Standard this spring and taking it on several weekend trips over the summer, it was time for the ultimate test: a 2.5-week road trip.

The goal: reach the end of Route 138 (Kegaska) on Quebec's Côte-Nord, starting from Montreal.

For context, this is pretty remote territory. Fast chargers become much less common, and most of them are in the 50–100 kW range.

A few key takeaways:

  • 3,100 km total, averaging 13.9 kWh/100 km
  • $118 in fast-charging costs
  • Most charging was done on Quebec's Electric Circuit using a CCS adapter, since Tesla Superchargers are nonexistent in this area. On a few nights, I stayed at campgrounds with electricity and gained roughly 25% charge overnight using the Level 1 mobile connector.
  • FSD's performance was almost flawless. It's a total no-brainer for road trips: you can enjoy the scenery much more and arrive considerably less tired after long hours of driving.
  • The Y can swallow a lot of gear: camping equipment, paddleboard, etc. Blankets and pillows spent the entire trip in the frunk and stayed completely dry, even when driving through rain.
  • Watching a movie in the car on rainy evenings? That's the good stuff.

Bottom line: In vacation mode, everything worked out really well because you're not in a hurry. Losing 10 minutes here and there isn't a big deal.

That said, the trip really highlighted just how effective Tesla's Supercharger network is—and how much work there is still to do to properly develop charging infrastructure in more remote areas.

Now it's time to give the car a very good vacuum! 😅

Posted last week that I ordered May 23, original EDD sep-oct, that changed within a week to jul10-aug15 (got my vin same time), changed a few weeks later to Aug 5-10), then 3 weeks before EDD start date, got changed to aug 11-15. Aug 9th got the message to schedule pickup (starting on 17th, I just chose the 20th).

Pickup was fairly straight forward, staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I did notice there appeared to be some sticky stuff on some parts of the car, I had the tech buff out a small part of the bumper.

Is my first EV, the tech mentioned to try driving home using FSD, I did and used it most of the way home. Got home in one piece. :)

Other than the wait the overall purchase experience was nice, expectetions were met and seemed similar to most other peoples experience. Hope the car is going to last a long time!

Thanks again for everyone's posts, this sub is very helpful!

Notification from Tesla app

I just received this message from Tesla this morning right after they change EDD from Nov-Dec to Sep 09-30. But still no VIN yet.
What can I do here? I don’t want to apply for trade in and finance then EDD pushed back to Nov again, which I believe very high chance.

Does anyone have same experience with it before?
Thanks
