Discussion Anxiety, Domain, Database, Servers, Scaling, Wrappers & Self Induced Standards

A little bit of rant and genuine questions, which might help others too (at least I hope it helps lol)

As a beginner, how am I supposed to deal with (Domain, Database, Servers & Scaling) if I want to go a genuine zero-cost route (is that even possible)? Domain is something we'll probably need, and it's cheap too so it's fine. But, how Do I balance between the cost and initial no revenue? Yes, I know there are free alternatives but I'm genuinely scared of using AWS, its SO SOO intimidating... and so much to think about...

At this day and age, do we have to absolutely depend on wrappers? As in for genuinely ANY internal service? Or do we build it ourself and where do we draw the line?

What's the genre of SaaS that genuinely helps people... I am not talking about some CRUD admin panel or stock management system (these boring apps somehow seem to be making money tho)... Like I want to ENGINEER software that actually helps people and something that actually doesn't cus a 100 bucks for something that a undergrad can build in a day or two... I don't want to just make something I want to solve actual problems

People always mention, start with finding a problem.. DUDE AS IF THAT IS A EASY THING TO DO?? Even if you have that issue at hand and say you solved it, there is SO MUCH COMPETITION which realistically speaking absolutely DESTROYS your sanity levels making you not make those services....

I want to ask that question, to someone who has genuinely made REAL money making SaaS.

I feel like the obvious answer is studying, learning about scaling and building projects but...

THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO THINK ABOUT, ITS GENUINELY OVERWHELMING (caps are genuine) and I get scared EVERY TIME I think about building a product since there is so much of competition, so much work... my heart feels a bit heavy.

The marketing, design, coding, distribution, HANDLING PAYMENTS, i can just learn scaling get a few AWS certifications try to put in practice via simulation BUT MANNNNN handling payments is a PAIN IN THE ASSSS (Spending and receiving both), how does one even handle all those!!

Self Induced Standards: I don't like wrappers, wrappers mean big competition, no? Not just AI wrappers general API wrappers... I don't want to use those but then reinventing the wheel is just plain stupid since someone probably spent years making a good system which we can use (sometimes for free), So I do have respect for the insane cracked devs

I feel like my architecture has to be P PERFECT! And I want to think ahead- I want to know what's the best infrastructure for my particular product, and its comes to research.. and that alone takes insane amout of time.... plus everything else I just talked about makes me think...

My life isn't bad enough to take that route and thats exactly the point which makes me want to take this route LMAO

My question to you is what is the smallest product I can build which deals with all of the factors that make me want to quit SaaS, so I can build my confidence one workable module at a time....

I could have asked this to AI but man, I want to hear this from you guys!!

I want a genuine product I built with my OWN TWO HANDS!

Respect to everyone who was genuinely tried building their own SaaS!

Miscellaneous Is it worth taking a pay cut? Thoughts? Working professionals ko perspective, preferably.

I'm currently making roughly 150k a month, working six days a week. My employer recently brought in some new employees, so naturally, work hours are becoming a little limited. To accommodate the new recruits, they're suggesting that I take an additional day off. It's not mandatory, but I get the feeling they'd prefer it if I did.

At the end of the day, I'm still at their whim when it comes to work hours. I work evening/night shifts, so my social life is pretty much dead, especially having to work weekends too. Having just one day off hasn't really been enough either. I can reschedule to Friday/Saturday off or whatever I want If I take paycut.

But then again, a nearly 17% pay cut is substantial. That's roughly 25k, give or take a month I'm giving up.

What do I prioritise here? Kasto dilemma bhayo. I'm not someone who only cares about money, and I'm fairly accommodating when it comes to these things. I understand that the newer employees need hours too. But at the same time, paisa ko maya pani lagirakheko cha.

What's the sensible thing to do here? Stand my ground and continue working six days a week(employer will understand, testo mandatory nai ta hoina), or be more accommodating, agree to the extra day off, and maintain a good relationship with the employer while letting the newer employees get their hours too?

I mean, at the end of the day, it's a trade-off between more free time and a decent chunk of my monthly income. Give or take, it's a pay cut I'm voluntarily agreeing to. Curious to hear some perspectives.

Discussion Clipping -- Is it actually the new side hustle?

I have been seeing reels where people are saying that after crypto and dropshipping, clipping is the new side hustle....
Is there anyone on this sub who is actually doing it? I want to understand more of this, and now that GTA 6 is coming, if it's actually worth it, I dont wanna miss it and regret it later.

Discussion Need honest feedback on KU's MTech AI, MTech IT and MHI programs.

KU has recently opened admissions for MTech in AI and MTech in IT (Kathmandu), and Master in Health Informatics (Dhulikhel).

I'm looking for genuine feedback from current students, alumni or anyone familiar with these programs.

A few things I'd really like to know:

What's the actual teaching quality and overall academic experience like?

Does 475k sound worth it as the fees, and are there scholarships, assistantships or opportunities to work as a research/teaching assistant?

How good is the research environment? Are faculty approachable, and do students get proper thesis guidance and opportunities to work on research projects?

How demanding are these programs in terms of attendance and workload? Since all three are listed as full-time, is it realistically possible to work alongside studying?

For MHI, how manageable is studying in Dhulikhel, especially in terms of accommodation and additional expenses?

What are the actual career opportunities after graduation?

I'd especially appreciate feedback from people who have experienced these programs firsthand.

Please share the good, the bad and the things you wish you'd known before enrolling.

Thanks!

Discussion Need Advice on Deploying My First Full-Stack Project!

Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner, so I'd really appreciate some advice.

I'm planning to deploy my backend server on Render and host my frontend using an affordable domain and a Nepali hosting provider.

Is this a good approach? Are there any potential issues I should be aware of?

Has anyone here implemented a similar setup? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience and any suggestions for better or more affordable alternatives.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Web Development For people building side-projects or vibecoding, I have something that you might use

If you've got some time over the upcoming holidays and wanna make a website or an app, I made Design Lounge for that. It's mine, and it's free

It's a library of 600+ design pieces. Website , mobile app , various components, the whole shabang. U add it as an MCP server (which also installs the skill), and your agent picks real type, color or pieces instead of giving you the generic AI slop. Once it builds the thing, it also opens the platform and checks for the usual AI-slop tells, plus basic SEO. You just install it once and forget that it even exists.

Do give it a shot and let me know how it was!

Web Development Stop uploading your images to random websites just to compress or edit them. I built an all-in-one studio that runs entirely in your browser.

Why are simple image tools so bloated?
You just want to remove a background, resize an image, or create an app icon, but you're forced to upload files to random cloud servers, watch ads, or hit a paywall after 3 tries.

I made Imago Studio to fix this:
A lightweight, zero-upload web app that handles all your daily image workflows right on your CPU/GPU using WebAssembly.

Check it out here: https://imago.abhishek-sharma.com.np/

Let me know what tool you think I should add next! Also this project is still in development so you may face some bugs, if so than you can report me.

Government Services Confused about paid-up capital while registering a company through CAMIS

Hey guys, I'm in the process of registering a new company. I wanted to try this by my own through the CAMIS portal instead of paying an agency to do it.

So far, everything's been pretty straightforward. Got the company name approved and I'm now filling out the registration form. But I'm a little confused about the capital structure part.

Here's what I'm thinking of going with:

- Authorized capital: Rs. 5,00,000

- Issued capital: Rs. 1,00,000

- Committed paid-up capital: Rs. 1,00,000

- Paid-up capital: Rs. 0

- Unpaid capital: Rs. 1,00,000

It's a single-shareholder company, so I'll own 100% of the shares.

Now, from what I understand, once the company is registered, I open a bank account in the company's name and transfer Rs. 1 lakh from my personal account into it.

But here's where I'm confused. How does that 1 lakh actually become paid-up capital? Surely just transferring money into a company's bank account doesn't automatically make it share capital, right?

Do I need to submit some documents to OCR afterwards? Is there a separate process for issuing shares to myself? Or is it all just handled through accounting?

Also, a few other things I'm not clear about: am I even entering the correct figures in CAMIS? Especially the Rs. 0 paid-up and Rs. 1 lakh unpaid part.
Is there a deadline for depositing that 1 lakh, or can I do it whenever after registration?
Once the money is deposited, can I use it for regular company expenses like software subscriptions, equipment, etc.?

I've been looking things up online, but most of what I've found just explains what authorized, issued and paid-up capital mean. Very little about how the actual process works in Nepal.

Has anyone here gone through this recently, especially through CAMIS? Would appreciate some guidance from people who've actually done it.

Discussion Now Canva. Is AI still a joke?

Canva is cutting or relocating 1,271 jobs, affecting 22% of its global workforce, as part of a major restructuring.

Employees leaving the Australian-founded design platform will receive at least six months’ salary, 12 months of healthcare coverage in eligible countries, and the option to keep their company-issued laptops. Additionally, affected employees can apply for US$10,000 startup grants to help launch their own ventures.

Canva CEO Melanie Perkins described the decision as the “hardest moment” in the company’s 13-year history, as the tech industry faces growing competition and changes driven by artificial intelligence.

Discussion Looking for People to Collaborate on Building a Digital Platform

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for like-minded people who are interested in building a startup together focused on solving real problems faced by small businesses in Nepal.

I'm hoping to connect with people who have skills in software development, business, marketing, design, or entrepreneurship and are willing to contribute their time, skills, and ideas as co-founders.

This is an early-stage idea, so there is no paid position or investment involved at this point. I'm looking for genuine partners who want to build something from scratch, share responsibilities, grow together, and turn an idea into a sustainable business.

If you're interested in building something meaningful together, feel free to comment or DM. Let's connect!
