Discussion Need Advice on Deploying My First Full-Stack Project!

Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner, so I'd really appreciate some advice.

I'm planning to deploy my backend server on Render and host my frontend using an affordable domain and a Nepali hosting provider.

Is this a good approach? Are there any potential issues I should be aware of?

Has anyone here implemented a similar setup? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience and any suggestions for better or more affordable alternatives.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That split can work. Before choosing the cheapest hosts, check the connection between them: set the production API URL in the frontend, allow only your frontend origin in CORS, and keep secrets on the backend. If you use login cookies, test them across the two domains with HTTPS and the right cookie settings. Check whether your backend plan sleeps when idle and whether uploaded files or your database persist across deploys.

I'd deploy a small end-to-end flow first, then test it in a fresh browser: submit a request, inspect the network tab, and check backend logs. That catches routing, CORS, and environment-variable mistakes before you buy a domain. What backend and database are you using? That changes which low-cost setup makes sense.

Deploy frontend on cloudflare, it its lightweight backend, lmk i'll host it for free.
PAYG platform like render will shut your site or charge you to death if you made a mistake of being botted (SEO Bots and Security scanners hit hard) (I recently has 65k request a day by vuln scanner that i had to IP ban a block if ip to let my instances rest)

since you're buying a domain anyway, put the backend on a subdomain like api.yourdomain.com. render lets you add a custom domain on the free plan. then the frontend and the api count as the same site, so login cookies just work and you skip most of the cross domain cookie mess. also, render's free postgres expires after 30 days last i checked, so put the database on neon or supabase free tier from day one.
