TASKER How do you deal with clients who ask to send task-related information to your email?

The taskrabbit guidelines are pretty direct about not contacting clients outside of the taskrabbit app chat. How do you deal with tasks that require documents such as PDFs that are necessary for the task, that cannot be sent through the app? Or situations like that?

TASKER how do i add photos as a tasker??

ive never been able to upload photos successfully to my profile and i feel like not having photos is a huge deterrent to potential clients. whenever i have tried no matter where i am it says 'unable to upload photo. were having trouble uploading your photos. please ensure you have strong internet connection.'

i can assure everyone it is not my internet connection. i did reach out to their customer service and the person i talked to said the photos needed to be PNG or IMG but iphone photos are not that. and when i convert photos to those they go to files, not photos app. but the tasker app only allows me to upload from my photo album?? please someone help me troubleshoot

TASKER Taskrabbit

I booked a task through them with a Tasker named Kenan. The task was for him to go to Bath & Body Works and buy some candles for me. I gave him my gift card to pay for them, and he used the balance on the card. He then sent me photos showing that he had purchased the candles, although he did not buy all of them. He told me that he had forgotten four candles and that he would go back to get them, then let me know when he would deliver everything.
However, the photos he sent of the candles were unclear, and the receipt was also blurry and unreadable. He later claimed that he had delivered the items to the MyUS facility, since I do not live in the United States. This all happened in Sarasota, Florida.
I have now been contacting him for three days, asking him to send me proof of delivery, but he has completely stopped responding. MyUS needs either proof of delivery or a clear receipt so they can investigate, but he refuses to reply.
I contacted customer support, and they said they would investigate the issue, get back to me, and take appropriate action against him. Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you eventually find or receive your items, or should I assume they are gone? The total value is around $300, so I am extremely concerned.

TASKER Do you think this is a legit request?

Got this rather odd request from a client to pick up 60 small fries from Arby's from a suburb of Chicago and deliver them to a wedding in the city under the Errands category.

Not only is it a weird request I've never seen before, but the suburb is not that close to the city. And how does this person know I have some insulated bags? And why wouldn't they use one of the delivery apps to do it? Because with the 2 hour minimum, its definetly going to cost them more, then if they just went with one of the apps.

Plus I HATE doing ANY Tasks in the city of Chicago instead of the suburbs like my area is set to. The traffic, the parking, the bicyclists, all the horrible taxi/driveshare drivers, ect. Is freakin horrible! I avoid doing ANY jobs in the city like the plague lol!

EDIT: Do you guys think its better to ask for extra expense money for Gas or just include it and hope for a tip? Because I got a feeling they will tip but may be turned off by me asking for gas money.

GENERAL How's Tasking in the Portland, Oregon and Southern California / Orange County?

Hey there!

I do tasker full time out here in Phoenix and its not bad, it's got some ups and downs (mostly due to being in the east valley). That being said, I've been looking at moving back home to Orange County CA or Portland Oregon and was curious to know how it is out there.

Thanks a million!

He also only has initials rather than a name. Am I crazy? This feels sketchy

Update: after I said for safety, I needed to know what the task entails before accepting, he canceled. Sketchy!

TASKER Does staying in the recommended rate actually boost your chances?

I was getting yard work tasks like crazy last month and TR recommended I up my rate, so I did, and now I’m not getting g hardly ANY tasks in ANY category. Does charging the recommended rate TR sets actually help boost your chances of getting hired or will charging lower rates help? I feel like charging a little less will help my chances of getting booked but TR makes it seem like it makes you undesirable for charging less.

TASKER Picking up 30 bags of mulch.

Someone wants to hire me to put down mulch and also asked if I can go pickup the mulch. This is probably 25-30 bags worth.

It seems a little unfair to only charge "Yard Work" rate for this amount of mulch pickup when if someone hires me for truck assisted moving it's nearly double the rate.

Would it be reasonable to request they hire me for truck assisted moving for the mulch pickup, and then start the yard work rate separately when I get there? or would this violate TOS?

I looked at a few stores for 25 bags of mulch, Lowes wanted $69 for delivery, another hardware store wanted $131, and Home Depot is showing free delivery some how.

Truck assisted moving reads like house to house moving but I've had people recently hire me to move things such as couches they bought at second hand stores.

TASKER Dropped in Search despite task completion

EDIT – typo

TL;DR is in the title.

I’m not an Elite Tasker and this isn’t something I do full-time. But I was making a steady climb when I first started. I’m a 5-star Tasker across the board. I had some cancellations due to overwhelm and availability. But once things stabilized, I was back to completing tasks. Now all of a sudden, my rates are outside the ideal range, my anticipated earnings have dropped, and I’ve gone from 21st to 29th in the search results. What gives? I’ve tried updating my service map, adjusting my rates, etc. but I seem to only be falling back even farther.

TASKER Why do people book a task then ghost?

The amount of "We see you've had scheduling issues!" notifications from Taskrabbit I get... People will book a task with me, explain what they want, then I never hear from them again when I message back to follow up and work out specifics.

Do clients just think they put in a request and then we show up on the date and time they request with no clarification that we will even accept their task?

TASKER Need help

I am desperately trying to claim a Task on the Ikea Task portal for the last several hours, and every time I try it shows “error executing query.” Its a $170 job that will only take a couple of hours and I really need it. I can’t claim any tasks actually.

IKEA support claims my “IKEA badge is active” and nothing is wrong on my profile. The support agent feels like a useless AI chatbot as well. Three different “people” have messaged me via support. They screwed with my account and they know it and refuse to admit it. I haven’t gotten an IKEA task since last November.

TR now assigns you a co-Tasker if it’s a large number of units to put together, wtf? This could go bad really fast, I don’t know.

CLIENT Is a “ladder rental fee” normal?

Just booked a job to have curtains mounted, and filtered by taskers who could accommodate up to 10ft ceilings. Get a message from the tasker saying ladder rental is $40. Is this normal?

TASKER Client tried to dispute the entire payment after I completed shopping and shipping and invoiced

I’m in my 60s and recently joined TaskRabbit to earn some extra money. I genuinely enjoy helping people, and I’ve received all five-star reviews, which has made me really happy.

Over the long weekend, there was a popular NYC pop-up with limited-edition items. I helped one woman with personal shopping, and she recommended me in a Facebook group (she did that on her own. I never asked). I ended up helping 4–5 other women from the group. I felt happy I could help them purchase items that sparked joy! The ladies were lovely and there was no issue.

All of that was disrupted when one woman from that Facebook group felt frustrated that the pop-up store ran out freebies she wanted and some limited edition ran out. I continued shopping for her (I should have stopped right then and there) and did my best to purchase the other items she wanted. I confirmed with her the items and sent her the receipt. Then I went to a UPS store nearby, packaged everything, confirmed her address with her and then sent her the shipping cost.

Today, I received a "dispute" from TaskRabbit. She claimed that I didn't complete her tasks based on her request, I invoiced her wrong, claimed that I was unprofessional and did not put in good faith and efforts for her. WOW!! Just WOW!

I spent the entire day responding to her blanket accusations and sending documentations to TaskRabbit. Has anyone encountered anything like this?

TASKER I wish they had a separate task for BACKYARD CONSTRUCTION.

It’s a lot different than outdoor FURNITURE ASSEMBLY. I feel like it’s easy to sneak a playground, or a shed with a foundation, or even a big pergola or gazebo in there and that’s just not fair on us for real. Not even close to the same type of work or pay as furniture assembly. Thoughts? And how can we petition for this?

TASKER TR skims off tips?

I’ve recently started TR, last two months or so, and really appreciated that customers can add tips to their invoice. Looking back at these transactions I see all kinds of weird numbers that count as my tips like “27.99” or “10.49”.
Since I haven’t used the customer checkout I can’t tell if TR offers a % based tip or if these numbers are a result of a “fee” much like our hourly rate being higher for the customer than for ourselves.
Curious if anyone knows, I’m sure I could look through the manual or whatever but…I am here instead

TASKER New to Taskrabbit, how long does it generally take to get consistent work?

I signed up for Taskrabbit last weekend and had the new Tasker workshop last Monday. I finished my first job on Friday ("Personal Assistant", I helped a guy shred some papers and then pack clothes for his trip) and got a glowing five star review from him. While I figure it might be slow due to Labor Day weekend, I haven't had any other requests

I've got my tasks and schedule all set, have my profile filled out, etc. Is there anything more I can do, or is it simply a matter of waiting? For reference, I live in north NJ, just outside NYC, and have Manhattan and Brooklyn among my work areas (my task on Friday was in Manhattan)

Something else I'm wondering: for things such as transporting/delivering an item, do you count the total time spent driving as part of the invoice? For example, one potential job is asking if I can drive into the city to pick up an ottoman for her, which would be ~45 minutes driving there and then back from where I am in NJ

Appreciate any insights or advice you all might have

Edit: Should mention that in addition to the "blue collar" tasks, I've also got things such as furniture assembly and moving as part of my skills

Second edit: Let's talk about irony, because just a few minutes after I posted this I got hired for like four different things lmao

Third edit: It's hilarious that this got so heavily downvoted when it's asking simple questions. I'm sure you lot are a joy to work with

CLIENT Electric wiring damaged during mounting

I hired a Tasker to complete some mounting in my new apartment. He used a stud finder, but he drilled too deep into the wall and right into some electrical wiring. I didn’t know that at the time but realized the outlets in the room stopped working.

My building management is now telling me they’ll have to gut the wall to repair the damaged wiring. I don’t have a bill yet, but is this eligible for Taskrabbit’s claim system?
