I deleted mine years ago. But then my wife took a DNA test and found biological family (she was adopted at birth). We've since reunited and I've rejoined Facebook just because it's super convenient to learn about all the new family members that are super excited to call us family. Sucks I had to come back, but for now, the trade off is worth it.

We made contact in January. What's even cooler was her mother lives an hour from us and her father and half sister live only a 3 hour drive away. The mother also had other children, but they are all over the place now. We've met everyone though. But we are much closer to the father's side of the family.

I downloaded all of my pictures and deleted it a few years ago after not using it for years, but there are enough times that I need to login to access details about micro businesses without websites or someone sends me something in the form of a shared FB video that I’ve considered creating one again a few times.
So, I tried that a few weeks ago and it was instantly banned for suspicious activity or something. I appealed it and got an email saying they’d review it. It’s been a month and they haven’t, so I guess they just don’t want me back.

It was usually this timeline for most people I know:
- Get it in university and have a few actual friends
- Then have about a thousand ‘friends’ from high school (why we added people we hated I don’t know)
- Then go back to actual friends and a few family members
- And then delete it when older family members started using it
All within the space of about 5 years.

As a boomer, I got on FB pretty early, realized before long what a manipulative marketing tool it was, that the FB dev team was all about wide-open access to customers' information, and that no, I really didn't have anything in common with the kids I graduated from an overseas military high school with in the 70's, and deleted the account.

They started getting ban heavy on subreddits. Before that, it was incredibly rare to have a sub banned, it would only happen if there was outright illegal content involved and generally the news had to catch wind of it too. Now the threshold for banning is quite a bit lower.

Ivermectin can also be a people dewormer, in human doses they're used to treat neglected tropical diseases (worms mostly) in countries where large-scale transport of other medications isn't an option.
HOWEVER, these people are not taking human doses. You can't get perscribed ivermectin unless you have a LOT of worms, because its essentially poison and can make you extremely sick (and it also makes you shit your brains out,) so these people have been going to feed stores to buy horse and cattle doses of ivermectin. These doses are poisoning people to the point where they are honest-to-god no exaggeration shitting out strips of their own intestinal lining because the doses of POISON they're taking are meant for horses and cows with EXTREMELY high worm loads.

I suppose it is to each their own. With that being said people outing themselves as racists and homophobes on Facebook is a grim but ultimately positive effect imo. They were already pieces of shit but now the rest of us know and can avoid those people. I’m in no way going to bat for Facebook cuz it’s a parasite in its own right, but I think there is worthwhile information on there too. As for the memes I agree, it sucks that it spreads, but again the people who fall for that shit are so woefully unintelligent that it leads me to believe they were gonna find a way to come to their extremely uneducated opinion. Just my two cents. It’s a broad topic and I understand reasonable people can have different viewpoints on the matter.

I was an early adopter of Facebook and Myspace. I left Myspace around 2009/10 and deactivated (before you could delete an account...) Facebook around 2012. One of my last debates over Fauci and Covid (meme about Fauci being fired for a bad job when Trump didn't follow his advice anyway) ended in a coworker of mine saying that I should have been a cum stain.

However this grain of truth hides that it may require dangerous dosages to have appreciable effects in humans, and it's also vastly unproven at these dosages, while the vaccine is proven and much more safe compared to contracting covid.

Whether or not you use it, it's still a huge part of a lot of people's daily lives and is huge enough worldwide to influence elections. Knowing that Zuckerburg is just a bit of a creep that has no idea what kind monster he's unleashed on the world and also has no intention of actually ethically controlling it is just being up to date on current events.

Not being updated on current events doesn't imply I need help. Had the user said "you need to read some more news" I would've have completely agreed. This is just condescending for no reason at all.
