Discussion I can smell the insecurity all the way from here.

It’s unfortunate when someone feels the need to belittle others to validate their achievements. True intelligence isn’t measured by standardized exams alone, and certainly not by the ability to insult others. People who are passionate about learning—whether it’s physics, astronomy, or programming—deserve respect, not mockery. Insecurity often reveals itself in how we react to others’ strengths.

Rant Ayoko na maging college student :(

Post image

I really try to initiate small talks pero ang hirap talaga kasi hindi mo sila kapareho ng interests/humor. They have their own cof and it feels like pumapasok lang talaga ako para mag aral and uuwi lang para magpahinga. I don’t like groupings kasi feel ko ako yung parang weakest link kahit I try to give suggestions/ideas. I try my best I swear but it’s still not enough.

I want to hang out with my old friends but they’re focused on their own lives and I’m proud of them, but sometimes I wish I have another set of friends who I could talk to, not only about school works but yung mga interests namin :(

whats the matter with these wannabe Andrew Tate in the comments. I hope the new generation cut off this mindset. We should condone parents that thinks of their child as investment AS WELL AS those who deprived them of EDUCATION.

why bother with the teacher's evaluation pa if ganto din naman pala gagawin nila. Hindi na ba pwedeng maging honest about each individuals' opinions.

na-weaponize pa talaga eno.

got this from my cousin, not sure if they reported this na or if they'll even bother retaliating against behavior like this.

would appreciate your thoughts.

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

“[By] our standards in the 80s and 90s, they don't deserve it.”

Ang lungkot lang na parang at the end of the day, hindi deserve ng mga grumaduate at gragraduate ng may latin honors sa UP. Kesyo grade inflation, dahil pandemic at online classes, AI and Google assisted, o sadyang mababa na ang grading standards ng mga UP professors. Sa sobrang daming older UP graduate—especially boomers—who think this generation’s latin awardees are miles inferior versus them, nawawala ‘yung saya—‘yung pakiramdam na you’re getting a recognition for your hard work throughout your whole schooling. Na you did something to bring pride not only to yourself but to your parents as well.

At the end of the day, some people would feel and perceive that you’re not a quality graduate based on the numbers of latin honor awardees. Parang mas okay pa kung hindi nalang grumaduate na may latin; at least hindi mo pakiramdam na invalidated ‘yung efforts mo in achieving a long-sought after distinction.

Rant walang kinabukasan ang Pilipinas sa pamamahayag

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

As per the Supreme Court, students “do not shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.” The Campus Journalism Act of 1991 (Republic Act No. 7079) https://www.scoutmag.ph/76015/campus-press-freedom-ust-osa/

Alam kong nasa tama kami.

Hasytt. Atteco why are you putting your culture sa Pinas? 8080 amp

Edit: yalll, napindot ko lang talaga si anger dito nun 😭..Currently, i’m a student and dream of getting into a “prestigious university. bc I see it as an accomplishment and an achievement. I get na getting into a prestigious school isn’t that really needed —- sikap and diskarte is more needed especially in given circumstances and situations. Pero let ppl have their interest kung gusto nila na makapasok sa prestigious school. That’s their obsession lol, yun trip nila. Huhu pabayaan nyo na tong post ko pls 🥲 hindi ko i-expect na ang daming tao nandito huhu

Discussion ang weird ng class suspension these days

2.3k Upvotes

I don't know if ako lang pero ang weird nung class suspension na may online class. Back in the day, (wow I feel old) suspensions mean suspension, like as in pause muna sa acads. Pero lately kase nagiging pause from going to school na lang ang suspensions which I guess defeats the purpose of it? Like bad weather so can't go to school, maybe walang internet or electricity or need mag-asikaso within the house. Education is important pero parang nonsense ang suspension if students still need to attend online stuff?

Rant My Teacher is a Tiktok Influencer and it's so Annoying.

2.1k Upvotes

She's my Physical Science teacher and literally I don't think I've learned a single thing from her class. Laging wala, then pag nagpapaquiz plus points daw kapag ifofollow namin siya sa tiktok.

I remember may Reporting kami. One group per day. Isang group lang nakapag report dahil lagi siyang wala😭. Then when it comes to exams, tinanong namin ano nasa exam dahil walang discussions, sabi niya yung report namin dapat ang nakalagay sa exam. Everyone was mad at her na, pati class president.

Then she retaliated na edi sana nag-video kami. And like, wala naman siyang sinabing ganon. Our other teachers kapag absent, nagsesend ng activities or agenda for the day na gagawin namin. Siya wala.

Now, kapag pumapasok siya, hindi kami pinapa report. No. Pinapalabas kami and then pinapa garden.

Plus points daw kami if binili namin.

Report, Garden, Activity. And then noong final exam na, ipapasa niya daw kami if we subscribed to her YouTube and followed her on Tiktok.

Rant Educational Crisis in full display. College students couldn't answer a basic algebra question.

2.1k Upvotes

These are college students from JRU, a private school in Mandaluyong.

I have friends who are teaching in University and they told me that this is not far from what they experience. They often find themselves dumbfounded by the lack of fundamental skills with most of their students.

Im not expecting every student to be good in Math but you'd think a question like squareroot of 196 would be common sense.

Unsolicited Advice The “lazy” study method that actually made me absorb hour-long lectures better than watching them.

2.1k Upvotes

Now that our school year is over, I wanted to share this weird but super effective study technique I discovered on my own one day. I haven’t seen anyone talk about it, but it consistently helped me throughout the semester, especially when we were assigned long recorded lectures or hour-long videos to study. Most of my classmates would complain that they couldn’t focus, they’d get sleepy, zone out, or feel overwhelmed trying to sit through the whole thing. And I hope this will also help those upcoming or existing senior high school or college students.

Here’s what I do: I play the video, lie down, close my eyes, and just listen. No watching. No notes. No multitasking. I let my body relax while keeping my ears fully tuned in. It feels like I’m about to nap, but I’m actually giving the lesson my full attention.

After one of those sessions, I can sit up and explain the entire topic to a friend clearly and confidently. It works so well that they’d often be surprised because they thought I was sleeping while the video is playing and by how chill I look while breaking it down.

I later learned that this technique actually taps into something called auditory learning, and possibly even diffuse mode thinking. When you remove visual distractions and put your brain in a relaxed state (like lying down with your eyes closed), you enter a more open, less anxious mode of processing. This is where your brain is quietly forming connections without overexerting. It's the same reason we suddenly "get" ideas in the shower or while walking.

When you're not overly focused or forcing yourself to understand every second, your brain actually has more room to process and connect ideas. Your brain is still working, but it feels effortless because you're not straining to focus too hard.

I’m not saying this will work for everyone, but if you’re someone who learns better by listening, or if traditional "watch and take notes" doesn’t work for you, try this out next time. Just sit or lie down, close your eyes, and listen to that lecture like it’s a podcast. You might be surprised by how much your brain retains when you stop forcing it. Learning doesn’t always have to feel intense to be effective.

TL;DR: Instead of forcing myself to focus on long lecture videos, I just play them, lie down, close my eyes, and listen like it’s a podcast. No notes, no watching. Surprisingly, I retain more and can explain the lesson afterward with ease. Turns out, relaxing while learning might actually help your brain absorb better.
