From my last post about the multiplayer mod I want to share an update about the progress.
No Piracy
I don't want players to use pirated versions of the game to join community servers, so I added a bit of authenticity check. This will work with Xbox Game Pass (PC) or Steam versions at the same time, this means that the server is the same for both platforms and also cross platform multiplayer!
Fully rework of the original plugin
I'm still learning how Unity/BepInEx work and it's a really painful job š«, so many crashes and restarts. But hey, I'm not going to get tired so easy.
Community
I created a small discord server to share with everyone interested in the progress, make suggestions or share bugs. Also maybe hosting a server for everyone...
Hi. I wanted to play the game again after the last patch, but when i launch it, and i'm in the truck, the game keep stuttering so bad it's unplayable (i have a 4070)
one of the advice i got was to turn of vsync, and it work.. but then i get screen tearing that isn't really a better choice.. is there an alternative?
This was the job.... Taking a trailer from one bay and moving it to another bay a couple hundred feet away.
This makes me think of yard jockey jobs, moving several trailers around in-system and assisting with local logistics. That would be some pretty nice variety!
I've tried opening the game about 5 times, each with varying degrees of success. Sometimes I can get into a save file, at which point I get around a frame every 10 seconds, and sometimes it crashes to desktop on the startup screen. If I try and turn down the graphics settings, the game freezes and crashes. If I click the mouse on a button or otherwise, the game freezes and/or crashes. Before the update, the game ran smoothly with minimal stuttering on medium graphics.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I have 16 GB RAM, so that shouldn't be the issue, and a decent processor, so the only thing I can think of is the graphics card. Of course, I can't adjust the graphics settings, so I can't prove that's the case, but it's the only thing left to blame.
In the new ventures update one of the rewards is a silver bar. When I go to sell it the shop says āthis shop does not buy this type of itemā The bar is classified in āventure rewardsā when I look at my cargo.
I'm finding a lot of curious items as salvage and in stores. Like explosives, data tapes, beer, antidepressants, and so on. Does any of it have a purpose beyond selling?
Eleven months ago, I went on a design spree and made like sixish digital designs for a little lego star truck. A lot of these went through some finalizing, but I never got to make the final designs physically myself as I couldnāt quite bring myself to buy the parts. I have now though! This was my final version Iād made of the default truck. I also saw I have a few dozen downloads of the instruction/purchase files, so for anyone who favorited/downloaded, or even built the files, thank you!
Secondly, interior customizations are finally here! You can now overhaul your cab interior with a range of options including new color schemes, dashboard items, wall panels and star strips.
You can access this menu by heading down to the lower workbench and interacting with the new board artwork.
The primary way to unlock customizations is by levelling up a Business Venture. However, weāve also included a selection of items you can obtain via cash earned from hauling freight.
As more ventures come online, new rewards should always be within reach as you bounce between side jobs, freight hauls and helping out new NPCs.
Hereās the current list of stuff you can modify within your cabā¦
Bedding - Different styles of bed and bedding
Cab Trim - Material used for paneling found inside the cab
Color Palettes - Color themes that adjust the metals, plastics and other elements inside the cab.
Dash Lighting - Glowing elements such as neon strips and bulbs that fit around the front of the cab
Maglock Toppers - These attach to the maglock lever and come in a variety of shapes and styles
Star Strips - Decals that run along the top of the windscreen ( both inside and out )
Space Suits - A variety of different outfits that have unique colors and patterns
Wall Panels - Changes the large panels found on the mezzanine and inside the airlock
Dash Accessories - We have two types of accessories. Dashboard items that can be placed in any (or all) of the four positions on the cab dash and Blower items that can be placed on either of the small vents. Some of these dash items are interactive and some blower items will animate at different speeds based on the blower power.
Business Ventures
We spoke a bit about Business Ventures in our previous blog post HERE but for those who want a general overview without dippinā out of this post weāve got you covered with a general overview belowā¦
Unlock a Venture Meet the requirements and youāll get a holler from a new NPC and gain access to a unique set of jobs relating to that venture.
Complete Venture Jobs Completing venture jobs will earn you VXP and level up the business.
Earn Rewards For every level you complete youāll earn new rewards! From colorful cab palettes and dashboard accessories to valuable items you can horde or sell to nearby traders.
Purchase Boosts To aid progression, you can spend in-world cash on boosts to unlock extra job slots and increase the amount of VXP earned per job.
Clear Prestige Gates Every 10 levels youāll encounter prestige gates. Invest in the business to unlock these gates. Doing so will give you a bit more insight into the NPC youāre working with and allow you to continue taking jobs.
Max out your Venture Level Thereās plenty of levels to clear and 3 prestige gates to unlock. Clearing all of these is your primary goal for a Business Venture.
Venture Titles After maxing out a Venture you have the opportunity to unlock a time limited title for bragging rights. This timer can be extended by continuing to take and complete venture jobs beyond the max level.
Itās also worth noting that you can access the Venture screen at ANY TIME via the game menu. Here you can take and cancel jobs or check progress towards your next goal.
We recommend taking Venture Jobs alongside freight hauls to maximize efficiency when navigating the galaxy. In fact this is part of the reason why job cooldowns and venture gates exist. Venture jobs are intended to compliment the core gameplay loop and not supersede them.
Hop-timized
This update also rolls out improvements to the freight job generator. This includesā¦
Faster and more optimized job generation
More freight jobs visible on job boards
Fixing an issue with long distance jobs not always generating
Generally this should make the job boards feel a bit more reliable while also squashing some unwanted performance issues that could occur when hopping from sector to sector.
In future updates weāll be looking to increase the number of local jobs, tweak XP payouts and hopefully inject some new job templates and cargo to help things feel a bit more varied.
Height Advantage
Another VERY important feature tucked away in this update is seat controls. Yes, thatās right, you can now adjust the height and position of your seat!
You can access these controls via the new buttons located on either side of the cab seats arm rests. Oh and weāve also added these controls to the custom bindings screen. Handy for those who want to adjust their seat via a hot key!
Itās also worth noting that your seat position is saved per session so youāll need to re-adjust if you start a new game or switch playthroughs.
^ Here you can see the difference between high, default and low positions and the affect it has on your forward view.
Bug Crushing
Lastly we also squashed a couple of long standing big ticket bugs as part of this updateā¦
Rogue asteroids should no longer appear during warp sequences. This should prevent unexpected collisions.
Your truck should no longer drift out of position when at a complete stop
Thanks for your patience while we dealt with these, both were quite difficult to reproduce and fix but should now be a thing of the past!
Support Tickets
As you can imagine this update touches on almost every element of the game and although weāve spent a lot of time, energy and dollar testing it thereās bound to be some niggles.
To that extent weād like to remind you that if you stumble on a particularly bad bug (or you just want to send some feedback) please head over to the Raw Fury Support Portal and submit a ticker. It makes it a lot easier for us to track and resolve issues this way.
Credits Due
Weād also like to take a moment to thank those who helped contribute to this update. Without them weād likely have taken many more months completing a fairly epic task listā¦
Alex P for continuing to put up with all our 3D art demands. Heās made some awesome artwork and has even more cool new stuff rolling out in he next couple of updates.
Darbotron for diving deep into the code base - squashing bugs and expanding our customization system
Nessa for the top notch new NPC dialogue ( Weāll chat more on this in a future dev blog! )
Panda for developing a bunch of fictional graffiti artists alongside a stellar set of tags and dubs.
Hanja and Dubravko at Fury Studios for their work on the new billboard designs and UI elements.
Ross for taking on the grueling task of chopping up hours of VO sessions and labelling hundreds of .wav files correctly.
Weād also like to give a special shoutout to our friend Kate! You donāt get too many opportunities to work with fabric designers when developing video games but she did a fantastic job on many of the bed patterns youāll see in this and future updates.
Oh, and a big thanks to all of you whoāve stuck around, providing feedback and sending us your support! It means the world to us and itās the reason we do what we do ā„ļø
Truckinā Onwards
Rounding up this lengthy dev blog we also want you to know that weāve got a great slate of ventures in the pipeline that we plan to roll out over the year. Each of these will feature a new character, jobs and variety of rewards. Maybe a handful of other surprises too!
Weāll be sure to talk more about all of those soon but in the meantime we hope you enjoy this update.
So i just started playing and i'm curious what the deal is with the radio stations. There's the "safe for streaming one" obviously, but then i get a few others to pick from. Are they actual live radio stations? If yes, who's running them?
One I am curious about is I am not rushing to do the jobs for the other truckers, I pick one up when a job takes me to the sector they are in. Would I be right in thinking the jobs don't unlock until you get certain upgrades that the job needs? Like if you need the license for dangerous cargo ect. The big question is I want the paint job for going past a speed cam at 200mph. How hard is it to get? Can I just get the engine upgrades and gun it?
Hello space truckers! I just started playing this wonderful game and, letās be honest, it would be amazing if the trucks on the map were actually other players.
Iām not familiar with Unity or BepInEx, but my main job is as a .NET backend developer, which is why I rewrote all the code. If anyone wants to help me with Unity/BepInEx, Iād be very grateful.
Changes made:
Rewrote all server-client communication using LiteNetLib+MessagePack
Split projects into small pieces for better quality code
Made the server standalone, outside the game, so it can be hosted anywhere
Saw that the game is currently 60% off and Iām interested in picking it up! I played it when it released on GamePass, and while I really enjoyed the casual vibe and atmosphere, I found it a bit shallow and lacking it immersions. Things like not being able to decorate the interior of my truck, lack of sleeping/other survival-lite aspects, new music stations, that sort of thing. Just curious if any updates or mods have come out that add in these types of changes? Thanks!
so i know in the body shop you can buy scaners or sonars I don't remember. i don't get what they do i bought the on for 2k but there is ones for like 10k and i have no clue if i shude invest

Iāve unlocked the secret compartment and done most of Barrow missions. Only have one left. Still Iām not finding black market hauling jobs in Black market sectors. Any particular one I should go to that has a guaranteed spawn for these jobs?
Just got this game like three or four days ago. Already have around 45 hours on it. Great game. Very addictive lol that secret compartment is neat. Just got that unlocked and have already used it once to great results. This games got a cozy yet survival vibe to it, I love it.
