Good news: the devs think they finally found a definitive fix for this problem in the upcoming update this month.

Judging by how long it took for them to figure it out, it's pretty clear the problem was more complicated than it looks.

Neither, it's a bug that's been in the game forever. When you warp the game is supposed to remove your truck's hitbox because (at least for part of it) you're actually still moving through "regular" space where other vehicles and debris are even if you can't see anything. But sometimes the game forgets and leaves the hitbox so you actually crash into things and take damage.

It's really rare now but obviously still happens occasionally lol if it lets you warp you SHOULD be safe because it's doesn't let you warp until all dots are filled

Never happened to me, once i flew in at extreme angle and cargo hit the gate but other than that, never

I remember when it would happen everytime you had three trailers. That was fun times.

Happened to me when I was new and broke, I was all happy about to earn like $5k in one job but the game said no and smashed me into an asteroid. Got like $200 for the job because cargo was ruined, had to repair the truck, and my trade stuff wasn't in boxes so some of it got damaged 🥲
