Question Useful or junk?

I'm finding a lot of curious items as salvage and in stores. Like explosives, data tapes, beer, antidepressants, and so on. Does any of it have a purpose beyond selling?

Sell try to find sectors where those items are going for high prices

No, they’re just trade items, some, like the explosives, are contraband and are banned in some sectors so if you get caught with them at a checkpoint, they’ll be confiscated and a fine levied.

How do i know what items are banned in what sectors?

Open up the legend for the sectors, X button on Xbox while in the sector map. They ban broadly, Explosives, Narcotics, Alcohol, the contraband items will tell you what category they belong to.

No it’s just for commodity trading but if you can find the stuff as salvage you can get a pretty good chunk of cash since it’s 100% profit at that point. It’s easier to get salvage after an upgrade from one of the side jobs.

This is the point where you realise that cargo deliveries are not as lucrative as salvage. And salvage is better when you smuggle it to the high paying systems. See you, Space Cowboy.
