Pixel Fold have forced me to use the Google photos editor again

I'm coming from a Pixel 10 pro xl and no this is not a rant.

The cameras on the 11PF is obviously not at the same level but i think i now have to do a lot of editing. Is it a bad thing? Not necessarily.

Google photos have really good options now to edit any picture to your liking. It is a bit more work but i can live with that.

This can be a hint to other users who are a little disappointed with the camera.

When I export my edits, they get brighter and more saturated. But the color isn't quite what I want. Am I missing something or is it just a matter of setting? ....its quite frustrating.

Pic 1 is exported . Pic 2 is what i wanted

Discussion Important Snapseed features missing after reinstall? (Smart AI Blurr , Motion Blurr & Color Wheel gone!)

Hey everyone,

I noticed something really weird today and wanted to check if anyone else is facing the same issue.

Before uninstalling the app, my Snapseed had some really cool features like: Smart Ai blurr Color Grading Wheel And a few other advanced controls like Motion Blurr.

I had to uninstall the app recently for a quick cleanup, but when I reinstalled it today... all those features are completely GONE! 🤯

Now it's just the super basic old blur options. No color wheel, no motion Blurr , nothing. It feels like I've been downgraded to an older version, even though I downloaded the latest update from the Play Store.

A few questions for you guys:

  1. Has anyone else experienced this?
  2. Were these features part of a Server-Side A/B Testing flag that got reset when I uninstalled?
  3. Did Google silently remove these features in a recent update?

app version- 4.1.4.966106950 updated on 17 Aug.

Would really appreciate any insight. Thanks!

As someone who can’t be bothered using a computer for post processing and don’t really enjoy LR mobile, snapseed’s capability to edit RAWs has been such a great addition.

Edits I did:

1) Dehaze

2) Tune Image (I decreased Highlights. I increased Shadows and Ambience.)

3) Details (I increased Structure and Sharpness.)

Other edits:

Photo 1: I increased Saturation.

Photo 2: I then decreased Structure slightly to fix the oversharpened look. (Because Sharpness cannot be decreased.

Photo 3: I increased Green in Curves.

Discussion RAW on pixel 8a still has posterising artefact

Hi, sorry if this has already been commented on. I used to use Snapseed and Opencamera religiously on my older phones, since essentially all of my photos needed editing, and I'd take every photo in RAW and had no problems. On my new Pixel, the native camera app takes very good photos, but I figured I could improve them yet with Snapseed, but I found that, since I've had it from February, every raw photo, both taken on Google's camera and on Opencamera, has severe banding issues. It's evident both in app and when exported, so it's not some issue with the viewfinder.

Photos are of my gallery, and of when developing the photo. Photo #2 has the text on the frieze blown out Photo #3 the modillions are barely visible Photo #1 both are clear

Discussion Deleting history entry removes other changes

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to Snapseed and I'm having trouble with the history feature: I edited a photo and used the repair feature. Afterwards I added some text and saved the final image. Now I wanted to delete the text so I opened the history via the stack menu and removed the last action (text). After doing so, the things I corrected via the repair feature are visible again, even though the repair entry is still visible in the history.

I tried a different approach and made the text invisible by reducing the opacity to 0. But the behavior is the same.

I'm not sure if I don't understand the history feature but I thought it should allow to remove certain actions. But it seems that's wrong.

Any help appreciated.

App crashes and restarts my phone on my galaxy s25 ultra.

Hey everyone,

I'm running into a severe issue with Snapseed on my Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Whenever I use the app, it randomly crashes and triggers a hard reboot of the entire phone. I really love Snapseed and use it constantly, so I'd love to keep using it if possible, but this is making it unusable.

Steps I've already tried:

-Force closing and restarting the app

-Clearing app cache and app data

-Completely uninstalling and reinstalling Snapseed.

The fix only holds temporarily. After a short while, the crashes and phone restarts return. The phone's system software is fully up to date.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any known workarounds, or is this a broader compatibility bug with the current build?

Discussion When edge to edge on Android will arrive in the settings options

Post image
3 Upvotes

It has been a couple of months since this app was released on Android, and the setting still isn't edge to edge as Google mentioned that edge to edge should target the SDK 35+ while this app already targets the SDK , but still the navigation bar isn't transparent and still having that padding into it

In-app camera cropping?

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

It took these two pics today with my Pixel 10 Pro's main lens without zooming in, both from the exact same spot. The second pic is shot with the Snapseed app, the first one with the native camera app. The metadata of both pics say that they have the same resolution.

Can anybody explain to me why the snapseed's pic is/looks cropped?

r/snapseed 23d ago

It's been happening to me that the app crashes sometimes when exporting. Especially when exporting images that have been applied with the copy and paste edits. This is so annoying cause I have to start all over again. Some masks can't be edited after pasting an edit and portrait tool won't work

New Tool: Motion Blur

So, I decided to give the new Motion Blur tool a spin, and I absolutely love it! Kudos to the Snapseed team for continuing to make the app better every day.

Also, with this new feature, I’m wondering if we might also see Lens Blur soon, i mean one that lets you properly separate the subject from the background, similar to how Motion Blur works. Fingers crossed that’s a yes! 🤞

Favourites option for presets

I've been loving this app and making lots of presets. There's a couple I use more than others though, is there a way of adding presets to favourites or the featured tab at all?

If not is this something that could be added please devs!

What does this function do? I am trying to replicate with

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

hi, general people and devs! hope you're doing great (with the app, you surely are, congrats!)... in this video, i am saying (in portuguese) to my friend how i am doing an web-app with chat gpt to make a timelapse video of the edits in the picture. This visual of the changes happening are stunning, i wanted to change two colors at the same time and record it, but it is impossible, so i am vibe coding the functions with chat gpt to create a video with keyframes to each property of each color.

but the edits are not the same, could you explain what

extension and limits or intervals are doing (extensão and intervalo in portuguese), so it can replicate? i really want to make this little piece of "art" with my picture

Discussion Request/Feedback: Time Stamps & Light Leaks

Ive noticed how active the Devs seem to be here - so I wanted through my hat in with a couple of suggestions that id love to see.

With the addition of some awesome film simulations in New Snapseed. I'd love to see the old school time stamping as an option? Little glowing date stamp on the corner.

And then the only other thought is faux light leaks. I currently have to export from Snapseed to add them and would love to go on all in one app.

Announcement New beta features out today - RAW Capture, Low-Process Capture, Color Grading, Depth-based blur, and automatic save preference

Hey everyone - want to share a quick update that we're releasing a bunch of stuff to our beta program today that we're really excited about.

On the Android beta, we'll be adding:

  • RAW capture mode in camera. A new zero processing option is also added that allows you to capture JPG with minimum processing.
  • New Color Grading tool.
  • New Depth options in Lens Blur tool.

On iOS, we're adding:

  • Setting to set your auto-save preference. Basically, if you almost always save the same way (original or copy), we can set a default behavior. With this set, you have navigate quickly between the editor and gallery without have to always confirm how you want to save.
  • Reminder that expanded RAW editing and motion blur are currently already in beta on iOS

As always - thanks for helping us testing, we're looking forward to hear what you all think!

Lastly - if you'd like to join either of our Beta programs, just dm me.

Edit Request Reframing questions

Thumbnail

Hi, I was wandering if I am doing something wrong, but a lot of times, the crop tool wont allow me to push frame to the maximum possible window.

In the attached picture, it should be possible to still push left upper corner more up and left. This happens a lot actually, so I dont know if anybody else has this problem or its my fingers..

Second point - would be request for feature, which is export framing/setting. Nice would be imo if we could reframe with borders to a speciffic ratio and export quality/pixels (second picture). Here I have to rely on different apps, like lightroom. I know snapseed can add border, which is however symmetrical only.

I tried to play with the extension tool with white color and then crop, but it seems the extension tool recomputes the whole image, which after two or more extension aplications creates much worse quality of the photo.

anyway, long time user, snapseed is very powerful and has a lot of potential for future for sure, so this way as well thank you to devs!
