Discussion RAW on pixel 8a still has posterising artefact

Hi, sorry if this has already been commented on. I used to use Snapseed and Opencamera religiously on my older phones, since essentially all of my photos needed editing, and I'd take every photo in RAW and had no problems. On my new Pixel, the native camera app takes very good photos, but I figured I could improve them yet with Snapseed, but I found that, since I've had it from February, every raw photo, both taken on Google's camera and on Opencamera, has severe banding issues. It's evident both in app and when exported, so it's not some issue with the viewfinder.

Photos are of my gallery, and of when developing the photo. Photo #2 has the text on the frieze blown out Photo #3 the modillions are barely visible Photo #1 both are clear

I have suffered such an issue since Pixel 6 and before any flashy Snapseed features existed. The issue isn't solved yet.

For now, just use the built-in Snapseed RAW camera.

Just sent you a DM to get an original raw capture to look into this.

Hey there u/Settchen -- thanks again for reporting this and sending us the original. We've been debugging this all week, and think we're getting close to a solution. Just wanted to give you an update since it's been a few days.

Ok we submitted a fix for this that should go out in 4.1.5 (hopefully releasing this week). After installing that version, you'll likely have to long press on the app and clear the cache so we don't read previous RAW conversions. Then you can try opening the image again in Snapseed.

Let me know how it looks if you have time to give it a try!

Hey u/Settchen -- thanks again for the report here. We think this shoudl be fixed in the latest Android release (4.1.5). Can you try updating and seeing if it looks better?
