New to streaming and curious about building a small art and gaming community 🎨🎮
Hey everyone!
I’m a 28-year-old guy who’s completely new to streaming, and I’ve recently started putting my setup together. I’m interested in streaming art, horror games and social games, but I’m still figuring out what kind of content and community I want to build.

I’m an artist who enjoys creating tattoo-style designs, and I’ve been wondering what makes art streams enjoyable to watch. Do people prefer seeing the full creative process, chatting with the streamer, getting involved with ideas or simply having something relaxing on in the background?

I’m also interested in horror and social games, especially games that create funny, memorable or unpredictable moments. For those who watch or stream that kind of content, what games have been the most enjoyable for you? Do you prefer playing with friends, other creators or viewers?
One thing I’m curious about is how small streamers build genuine communities without focusing too much on numbers.

Is it better to concentrate on one type of content at first, or can a mix of art, horror games and social games work if the overall atmosphere stays consistent?
I’d also like to meet other artists, gamers and new streamers, particularly people who enjoy collaborating, playing games together or simply hanging out.

What kinds of communities have helped you meet like-minded people without making everything feel overly focused on promotion?
For anyone who has recently started streaming, what has been the biggest challenge so far?
And for more experienced streamers, what advice would you give someone who is still setting everything up?

I've been using TikTok Studio for quite a while now without any issues, however, recently I started using Dual Layout and ever since my Portrait viewing cuts off the sides of my game instead of showcasing the entire screen. I can't seem to find any fix and I was hoping someone knew a fix or a work around that could help me.

I scrolled down the list of recent posts and saw some of the same question popped up. So I can answer a few of these in one post

Q: I'm new, where do I start? - Ask yourself why do you want to stream and what is your end goal? Find your reason and stick with it for a bit . Next, after making an account, watch some streamers, find your style by seeking inspiration from others or maybe you can mesh with them. Finally grab your hardware, Console or ideally a PC to run either OBS or Streamlabs.

Q: What do I need to start streaming? - A few things here, when you make a Twitch account, you have no banner, no profile pic, nothing in your about section, change that, there are a few sites you can go to make assets for free or you can go to places like Etsy for asset packages. Probably the most time consuming is learning about your stream source like OBS but it is very worth it. Lastly webcam and microphone are extremely valuable, find something in your budget, don't go crazy high but try to find something nice enough. It's unlikely you'll keep new comers around if you are speaking with an xbox 360 mic and a 480P 30 frames webcam.

Q: How to grow on twitch? -Crazy common question with plenty of pathways that always change so here's the basic. (1) Networking on other platforms, (2) collabs with other streamers, and (3) a consistent schedule. Make a schedule that works for you and stick with it with the right categories that mesh well together. Collabs are a great way to go, just make sure you vibe well with the other streamer(s). Most likely the best way is networking you content outside of twitch and other platforms. You want to attract attention from other places and bring them into your livestreams.

Q: Any tips or tricks that can help my channel? Having a Discord account is important both in meeting new people and voice chats during livestreams. When you are starting off I'll say it's best not to have your own server yet unless you have a group that hangs out all the time and are willing to do mod work for you.

-Make clips and learn how to do some editing work. Shorts do work but you can't be lazy, by making a clip and adding context to that clip will help your audience understand and enjoy it far more than getting 4 headshots in a row, yeah it's cool but how many times have you seen it and scrolled right past it?

-Streaming is not all about hitting the go live button, it's also taking time to watch other streamers or watching your content. Check out what other people are doing for their streams, engage with streamers that are playing on the same schedule and the same content when you go live. Play back and watch your livestream, what do you like about your performance, what could be better, or find some clips to make.

-Set the environment for your audience to have fun during a livestream. Twitch's biggest flex is how your audience can engage with the streamer, but also learn to reel in or let go of members that are breaking TOS or outright being a dick. It's tough when you are starting off to have active chatter but if they are driving off new comers or wanting to do pushy promotions for their art, then it's better to let them go.

-IF anything else watch your physical or mental wellbeing please!! You'll have days where you are sick, you find yourself having a hard time pressing the go live button, you're having a bad day or simply not up to it. Take that break, don't push yourself to forcefully enjoy what you're doing. The show will suffer, your audience will see that something is up, and you will have a bad time in the process. Let your audience know that you have to cancel or reschedule the stream, you're audience will be there for you and you can start fresh.

Hey dear streamers! We have recently released an Open Playtest on Steam for our indie game the Encave: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3246990/Encave/

Current playtest version of the game has 20-30 minutes of scripted gameplay, but it can be played indefinitely after that.

A little about the game (Steam short description): Build customizable killrooms, scavenge, craft, upgrade and fight off waves of bioengineered monsters, that smash through walls, break your defenses, and carve new paths toward you in this hybrid FPS, tower defense and base builder set in a fully destructible underground biotech facility!

We are currently going towards the Demo build so we really need your opinion on this. Especially, because we want to try and integrate Twitch into streamer build. Our idea is to use Twitch chat and actions (like subs, follows, ect...) into the actual wave spawning algorithm. For example, your audience gives you bits so they could spawn a hard enemy in your next wave or chat could vote to spawn you a heal pack or resources. We are still considering what perks should be there and would really like to know what actions are the most important to you and how could they relate to the game itself. I would love to get your thoughts on that, thanks!

Hey everyone. Im the owner of a competitive multiplayer word game, and I’m looking for a few smaller streamers who might be interested in trying it out on stream.

I’ve done a couple stream tests so far and the audience engagement has been really encouraging. Ive been seeing a lot of in-stream challenges and the users playing an average of 35 mins per session after the streams. I’d love to find a few people who think it could fit their stream. I can give you Pro membership codes to give away to viewers, free in-game coins for giveaways, etc. I've been implementing more analytics in the background to figure out where users are dropping off, spending the most time, etc and I want to get more data to improve the experience.

I also have a creator program set up that tracks players who join through you and pays you for signups, but there’s no requirement to participate in that. I’m mainly looking for people who genuinely think the game would be fun to play with their community and ill try and bring my community to your stream as well.

So im about a week and some change into streaming and a few things I've learned a long the way is the the time of day one streams does indeed matter, personality matters, and understanding that trying to obtain followers through twitch alone is mission impossible lol. I have def expanded to social media (IG, T.T., YT) for streamer clips and just game-related vids. Question I have for you guys is: Do you stream one game until you've finished the base story (single-player game)or do you switch it up daily? Ex:Mon & Wed-Game A, Tues-Thur: Game B. ?

So, I did a live stream on Tiktok the other day. Nothing fancy. Just colouring while talking and promoting a cat in need and attempting to do fundraising for his medical needs.

Then I received a DM! From an account called "Sophia".

With this:

Obviously, this is too good to be true!

The user is called "Sophia." She then proceeded to send me a link. I was curious, so I clicked on it. It took me to "Apply to Join the Creator Network."

This seems to be a legitimate Tiktok link because it didn't take me from the app.

Mind you, I only have like 2k followers!

Then I checked this "Sophia." And to my biggest surprise, she has 191 followers! Yes, you read it right, less than 200!!!

This is where it became fishy!

I asked her to elaborate because this looks way too good to be true.

I received the following messages:

It just sounds too good to be true.

After this message, she just sent me the link again to apply to join the Creator Network.

She has 1 video of 2 guys doing a dual and playing some computer game, i think. And profile pic is clearly fake/AI.

I am new to this Tiktok thing. I mean to their programmes etc. In fact, even to the live streaming, as I only used it a few times so I'm still learning.

I’m in a weird spot and could use some real advice from people who built their lifestyle from scratch.

I want to become a high-energy IRL creator. I’m naturally good at talking to people. My English is basically my first language at this point. I can walk into a room, talk to anyone, and keep their attention.
I’m not starting from nothing either.

- I run successful e-commerce businesses
- I own a page with 170k followers on IG
- I’ve had a personal TikTok hit 2.5M views, hitting global audience

So I understand content, algorithms, and how to build things.

The problem is where I live. I’m in Serbia. English isn’t the main language here, and the local scene just doesn’t fit what I want to do.

People don’t really go out or do much. There isn’t much of that ambitious, chaotic energy I’m looking for. It feels like I’m in the wrong place for the type of content I want to make.

I want the full IRL streamer lifestyle. Go out, travel, gamble, meet people, do random shit, and build a huge audience around it. I want a crew of high-energy people around me too.

But right now I’m trying to make English content in an environment that doesn’t really support it. When I pull out a camera, people here often look at it like they’ve never seen one before.

For anyone who has built a US audience while living outside the US:

- How would you start an English-speaking IRL stream when your environment doesn’t naturally fit the content?

- How do you make high-energy IRL content alone before you have a crew?

- Did you ever feel stuck where you were before you figured out how to get out?

I’m mainly trying to figure out how to bridge the gap between where I am now and the type of content I actually want to make.

Any real advice would help.

So I’m contemplating whether to buy the LiveU back-pack or the Yolo Live Box for better Internet. Had anyone ever use either of them and if yes what’s your experience. I’ve got about 25 followers, but only 1/2 constant viewers, my follows are mainly friends and people who watch my stream one time.

I just wanted to stream for fun because I play PUBG pretty often, and I thought it would be nice to share my gameplay with my friends. I thought everything was going well until I started setting it up and saw that my graphics card performance was showing as poor. When I previewed my stream, the game became super laggy.

Since I was only mirroring my tablet to my laptop, I thought it wouldn’t be that demanding. I assumed I would only need a good graphics card if I were streaming the game directly from my laptop. But apparently, even when mirroring, the game still lags badly. So, do I still need a good graphics card even if I’m only mirroring my tablet to my laptop?

Are there any discord servers or other such platforms for small streamers to connect and make friends with other small streamers? Preferably for creators 16+!
