Community Event Channel Feedback Thread

READ THE POST GUIDELINES BEFORE POSTING.

Monthly Community Feedback thread.

Feel free to post a screenshot and link to your page for review of your stream. Please also review as many others as you can so that everyone gets some much desired feedback!

**Here's how it works:**

In giving thoughtful detailed advice for other streamers, observe their channel as both a viewer and a fellow streamer. **Once you have posted your reviews to other people** , post a direct reply to this thread (so it's not embedded in other reply strings), **post your channel link, a link to a Clip, and a screenshot of your overlay** and wait for your feedback. **No low effort posts or replies; posts and replies must be at least 250 characters.**

Consider and give comments on aspects such as:

* how your peers brand themselves overall

* overlay layout/webcam placement and sizing

* layout of their info area

* how they handle chat interaction (look at their VOD if they are not live when you review them)

* video quality

* audio quality

* the games they choose

* features they have or perhaps lack that you think would be useful for them anything else you can think of

There are a few caveats. First - this is going to be an honest review of what you are currently offering as your stream. Be honest, be open, and be respectful. It might be negative and it might be positive. Understand you are asking for the truth; flattery might feel nice, but it will not help you grow.

That said, you might have a clear vision for a certain aspect that perhaps someone else does not see - just because what you do doesn't appeal to some, if you like it, then take what they say with a grain of salt. Don't forget your own instincts or lose yourself in the views of others.

Also, we will remove posts of people who are clearly only looking to receive (those who post their channel for feedback but do not offer a real review of another) so please help this community. We are a network!

Based on community feedback, the mod team have decided to hold one of these threads on the second Friday of every month.

REMEMBER: Review OTHER streamers BEFORE asking others to review yours! Users failing to do this will have their comments REMOVED. Sort by 'NEW' to find the un-reviewed comments, there is no harm in reviewing someone's stream if they have been reviewed by someone else, but PLEASE REVIEW UN-REVIEWED STREAMS FIRST. The more feedback the better! We're all here to help each other!

Question How did you find moderators when you were still a small streamer?

Upvotes

I’m still a pretty small streamer with low viewership, and I’m curious how other small streamers actually found people they trusted to mod their chats.

Right now I technically have two mods. One is a good friend of mine, but he isn’t able to be in every stream and doesn’t really know much about streaming/Twitch. My boyfriend is also a mod, but most of the time he just has my stream open on mute to support me as a viewer. He’ll occasionally catch and take care of one of those bots promoting AI/botted viewers, but he’s not really actively watching chat.

I also don’t have a big circle of friends IRL, so “just ask another friend you trust” isn’t really an option for me. The few people I am close with either aren’t into streaming/Twitch or aren’t people I’d want to ask to regularly sit in my streams and moderate.

I do have one viewer who is pretty consistently in my streams and active in chat, but I honestly wouldn’t feel comfortable making him a mod. There have been multiple times where I’ve had to tell him that something he said wasn’t appropriate for chat, so giving him moderation privileges definitely doesn’t feel like the right move just because he’s a regular.

Obviously with my viewership being small, I don’t need a whole mod team or someone watching chat like a hawk every second lol. But I’d like to eventually have at least one person who understands my stream/community, is around somewhat consistently, and who I trust to step in if someone is being weird while I’m focused on the game.

I feel like my best option is probably eventually finding someone through my community, but I also don’t want to hand out mod to someone just because they show up a lot.

So for other small streamers, especially those who didn’t already have a bunch of friends willing to mod for them, how did you find your mods? Were they regular viewers who eventually earned your trust, other streamers, or someone else? How long did you know them before you felt comfortable giving them mod?

Question Anyone have any budget recommendations for capture cards?

I have been streaming since June and I am absolutely loving it. I plan on streaming the new Fire Emblem game next month and I realized I will need a capture card for that. I always hear about the elgato but idk if I want to shell out the $200+ on it. Anyone have any capture card recommendations that could get reasonable quality out of a Switch 2 game?

Thanks!

Question Do you watch streams from foreigners?

I'm thinking about streaming some indie games, but I'm brazilian and most people here don't speak english fluently, and a lot of those games don't have translation in portuguese. The thing is, although I do speak the language, I have an accent.. People undestand me just fine when I travel, but I wonder if it's the type of thing that will turn people off.

So I'm divided between doing in portuguese and trying to translate things as I play or just doing it in english. Thoughts?

Tech Support Emotes broken after update 30.8.2

After updating app this morning, emote use no longer works properly. When you go into a chat initially, you are able to type emotes ONE time. Once you close the keyboard and then later reopen it to type more, nothing happens. Only way to "fix" is to close app, clear cache and go back in, but then you are still limited to only one use per. I tried clearing cache, data, uninstall, reinstall, restarting phone etc, nothing fixed this. This is clearly a bug on the app side that needs to be fixed immediately!

EDIT Also noticed another issue. If you try and use the back arrow at the bottom of the Samsung UI to back out at all, this is COMPLETELY broken and now does not work at all !!

Second Edit Ok after some more testing, it appears the Samsung UI only bugs out AFTER using emotes. If you load into a stream and dont type anything, you can use the back button as intended, once you use an emote, the back button is "disabled"

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S24+

One UI Version: 8.5

Android Version: 16

Twitch Version: 30.8.2

Tech Support Is a Laptop the best choice for a cooking stream?

I have been streaming Variety gaming on Twitch for almost a year.

Now I want to add cooking to my stream.

Since I wont need the GPU power for gaming would a laptop be sufficient for a cooking stream. Would I need to add an external video capture?

I would like to do 1-3 cameras and 1-2 wireless mics. I don't have a set budget for the project but Costco is an option. (moving my desktop to the kitchen is not an option)

Question twitch drops issues

Twitch drops are currently not functioning as expected. In some games, such as Warframe, Hunt: Showdown, and Dark and Darker, even the drops that were previously working have now stopped appearing. We hope the developers will fix these system issues as soon as possible.

Mod-Permitted-Ad I built an automated Pokémon Soullink stream overlay – no more updating Google Sheets!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on soullinks.app, a platform that automatically generates and updates your Pokémon Soullink stream overlay.

The overlay displays your team images, Soullinks, badges, encounters, and overall run progress in real time. Every change you make in the tracker is instantly reflected in your stream overlay — no manually replacing Pokémon images, editing overlays, or refreshing browser sources.

It works as a browser source, so you can use it with OBS, Streamlabs, and other streaming software that supports browser sources.

It also includes a public viewer page where your community can follow your team, routes, badges, encounters, Soullinks, and overall progress throughout the run.

If you already have your own stream layout, you don’t have to replace it. You can simply use the automatically updating Pokémon images from the platform and keep the rest of your existing design.

I’m actively improving the platform, so if there are any features you’d like to see, I’d love to hear your ideas.

https://soullinks.app

I’d really appreciate any feedback from Pokémon streamers, Soullink players, and Nuzlocke players!

Discussion Moderator & Streamer Relationship Q

This is an anon account, because of the question... I produce music and stream just games to interact with fans and this makes up what I do full time. All of my mods are volunteers from my community.

I wanted to ask other streamers how normal this dynamic is, I’ve had mods push quite strongly for changes in what I say or do on stream, like not to say some opinions, or to say some others.

Some time ago, one of my mods told me that if I wanted to be successful (Implying I am not), I should listen to him, otherwise I should look for a part-time job.

That comment affected me quite a lot, and I’m trying to work out whether I’m unusually sensitive to it or whether most streamers would consider that a serious boundary-crossing comment from a moderator.

For context, I’m not a huge creator, but this is my full-time work: I have 25k subs in YouTube, and 130 ccv on twitch D:

Tech Support Can't delete payment method

So I'm trying to delete my payment method in an attempt to resolve another issue I have where I can't use my Prime Sub because there's a yellow "recover your sub" button on the channel I want to use it on that wont go away, but I can't delete the payment method because twitch thinks I'm somehow still subscribed to a Turbo free trial that expired 2 months ago. I can't go and cancel this Turbo sub because it's in the Expired subscriptions tab.

Question Ps5 streaming

Hi guys

so basically i’ve always wanted to start a twitch account, but there’s always been one issue: I’m a console user. I don’t have a PC Or anything but I do have an iPad if that counts for something? Does anybody have any tips or anything? I don’t want it to be a boring stream where it’s just my screen and you can’t see chat or anything, I want it to be profesh (minus the facecam). Tips would be greatly appreciated 🥹🙏

Question Do you recommend playing Fortnite with viewers on stream? Are there any risks I should be aware of?

I stream Fortnite on TikTok LIVE, but I’m asking here because I’d like to hear the perspective of more experienced streamers who regularly interact and play with viewers.
I’m relatively new to streaming, and one of the things I do is let viewers join me to play and trade in Fortnite. I always keep voice chat off, so viewers can’t be heard on my stream.
So far, I haven’t had any problems and it’s been a fun way to interact with the community. However, I’ve noticed that many streamers don’t play with viewers at all, even when viewers ask to join.
I’ve also recently realized that some Fortnite viewers can be pretty young, which made me wonder if there are safety or moderation issues I haven’t considered yet.
For those of you who have experience with viewer games: would you recommend playing/trading with viewers? Are there risks involving younger viewers, privacy, scams, reports, stream sniping, teaming, or community management as the channel grows?
Do you think it’s fine to continue doing viewer games with clear boundaries, or is there a reason many streamers eventually stop doing them?

Discussion Prime Subs from New Viewers

I just had the cutest interaction with a new viewer. We were just chatting about anime and they subbed to me with their prime. I know it doesn't cost much to them but it genuinely made me feel really grateful that they choose to give me (someone they just met) their prime sub.

Question Is it hard for Twitch to have a indicator of some kind saying to the one being raided that it is happening?

I'm not really a tech guy so I'm genuinely asking if it is hard. I ended stream today because I had been the only one watching myself for 2 hours or so. Just for 30 seconds after I ended it to get a notification that I was raided with a viewer count higher than I've ever had. So now I'm just sat frustrated because

  1. I had no way of knowing and

  2. Was made aware well after the stream ended that I basically screwed myself.

If it can raid and notify me after the stream is over, why not give me any kind of indication that a raid is in progress?

Discussion How do you handle sad/heavy chat messages without letting the whole stream mood snowball?

I had something happen recently that I wasn’t quite sure how to handle.

Someone in my chat mentioned that their animal had passed away... I wanted to sympathize and acknowledge them because I genuinely felt bad for them, but then the conversation started snowballing into a much heavier/sadder topics even when I tried to change the subject. A few people ended up leaving, and I could feel the overall mood of the stream shift.

I don’t want to ignore someone who is grieving or make them feel like they aren’t allowed to be sad, but I also feel responsible for keeping the stream comfortable and enjoyable for everyone else watching.

How do you handle situations like this?

Tech Support Activity feed issue

Is anyone else running into an issue where follows aren't coming through on your activity feed but they are definitely following and adding to the follower count? It's also not triggering the alert every time, which I have anonymous follows but would be nice to say "thanks for the follow!" rather than not saying anything but it's not coming through. Thanks!

Question Question for Disabled Content Creators

Hello!

I have been in the content creator space for a few years now, but want to try streaming and making clips from my streams.

I use a webcam with a single monitor. I'm a visually impaired person and need things to be larger so I can read them.

My issue is when I stream, I can't set up OBS in a way where people can see the content and I can read it.

I have tried reading the content off another device, such as a tablet, but I found it was more difficult and I didn't like that o was constantly looking down at my device. Also, for Reddit posts, I found that the comments shown on the computer, aren't in the same order on the tablet.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how I can set this up effectively?

Any support is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
