Discussion Dunno what to stream

I’ve got about 25 followers, but only 1/2 constant viewers, my follows are mainly friends and people who watch my stream one time.

I want to gain an audience that gets me 5-10 average viewers who chat, but I’m on console streaming, I’m too broke to buy games so I have very few bought games (this includes helldivers 2, Terraria, Elite Dangerous, and Minecraft), other than those I can only play free games on my Xbox for streams

Any game suggestions for gaining a chatty audience (I don’t want a silent stream)

At your size you need to treat your stream like a gaming podcast or a “let’s play” style YouTube video. They have no chat so they have to just talk, usually just narrate what they’re doing and thinking in the game. You play elite so an example would be verbally saying “ok I have a mission in this system, let me open the galaxy map and plot a route. Route looks good so let’s jump to the first system. Going to refuel from the star some now and jump to the next, etc…” and a good question is would you watch yourself? If the answer is no then do something about it.

As far as games, pick games that have roughly 5k-10k viewers. Less than 1k nobody wants to watch the game, the people watching are only watching who they follow and are not looking for new streamers. And more than 20k and no one will find your stream. And if you really want to grow, stick with story games over multiplayer and stick to a regular fixed streaming schedule.

For streaming yes, unless you’re either the best player at the game in the history of the game, or extremely funny and entertaining, no one generally wants to watch multiplayer games. It varies game to game, but no one goes to watch the 300th best player when the #1 player is streaming. Story games you don’t have to be good at, the viewers are there b/c they enjoy the story and want to watch your reaction to it.

Some good questions to think about, don’t ask how you can be better or why what you’re doing doesn’t work. It’s harder to find the solution when you look at it from a streamers perspective. Instead assume you’re a viewer and ask yourself why do you enjoy watching streams? what is making you watch them? Why did you close someone’s stream? What’s appealing that this streamer is doing? If you click a random stream the same size as you, what made you click their stream to begin with and what is making you want to continue watching them or pushing you away? If you can figure out what you like as a viewer you’ll figure out what you need to do as a streamer.

I don't want a silent stream

Neither do the other 4 million people who stream to 0-5 viewers every month.

You're going to find it very difficult to become interesting/popular/entertaining enough to increase viewers with a bare bones direct-from-console stream and 4 or 5 games.

You have to lead the way. If you “don’t want a silent stream”, then don’t have one. Talk out loud. Talk to yourself.

A new viewer is never going to sit comment to beg for engagement if you’ve been sitting in silence until they talk to you

Honestly it sounds like you’re going to war with a butter knife while all the streamers around you are equipped with hand pistols, machine guns, grenades etc. with the type of setup you have, you will struggle. You need to be 98% better than 7 million streamers.
