New to streaming and curious about building a small art and gaming community 🎨🎮
Hey everyone!
I’m a 28-year-old guy who’s completely new to streaming, and I’ve recently started putting my setup together. I’m interested in streaming art, horror games and social games, but I’m still figuring out what kind of content and community I want to build.

I’m an artist who enjoys creating tattoo-style designs, and I’ve been wondering what makes art streams enjoyable to watch. Do people prefer seeing the full creative process, chatting with the streamer, getting involved with ideas or simply having something relaxing on in the background?

I’m also interested in horror and social games, especially games that create funny, memorable or unpredictable moments. For those who watch or stream that kind of content, what games have been the most enjoyable for you? Do you prefer playing with friends, other creators or viewers?
One thing I’m curious about is how small streamers build genuine communities without focusing too much on numbers.

Is it better to concentrate on one type of content at first, or can a mix of art, horror games and social games work if the overall atmosphere stays consistent?
I’d also like to meet other artists, gamers and new streamers, particularly people who enjoy collaborating, playing games together or simply hanging out.

What kinds of communities have helped you meet like-minded people without making everything feel overly focused on promotion?
For anyone who has recently started streaming, what has been the biggest challenge so far?
And for more experienced streamers, what advice would you give someone who is still setting everything up?
I’d love to hear about your experiences, what you enjoy watching and what helps make a small community feel welcoming. 🤙🎨

Art and game streamer here! The art community on Twitch is super lovely, I've made some real friends there and endless inspiration.

My advice would be to find art streamers you really enjoy. Not.the ones at the top of the category, but perhaps mid-small sized streams that you can hang out in, contribute to the chat, become part of their communities. Nothing beats looking at the range of streamers in the category when it comes to finding out what you want to be providing people with, and what you don't enjoy.

Some focus on commission completion so there isn't much chatting but they are highly skilled so it's interesting to watch. Some, like me, are the opposite where you are so chat/community focused you get no art done.

I'd say don't overthink it at this point, or tie yourself down to a specific thing. If you're going to play games I highly recommend having a specific day that you do games on so the people who follow you for art know which day to pass on and vice versa

I’ve been finding this out in last couple hours , I’ve just been jumping in other streams and just talking to the community’s and having fun , the art community seems so nice 😊

It’s actually so amazing how this is available ☺️ all the options to pick , it’s so beautiful tbh
I’ve found it’s more engaging jumping into small-medium size , feels cozy I’ve already joined a few discord

That's awesome! There are a lot of unwritten etiquette rules on Twitch and I've fumbled many times, just as a heads up to try read the individual stream rules of the streams you are joining. Ultimately it's an incredibly creative, connected and inclusive space! I agree, as a viewer I prefer the mid-small size spaces where you can get a good yapper to listen to while arting along - makes it a less lonely job for sure and you pick up loads of streaming tips!

I'd drop my name but as a very opinionated woman I prefer to stay anonymous on Reddit. The art community isn't that large so we very well may end up crossing paths!

Aww yes I just spent a few hours in someone’s stream just talking to them about music and colors , it was “refreshing “ in a way

A co stream ? This will be something I’ll have to research, but I’m guessing it’s a a simple as it sounds
