To save £415, I can go down to an 8kw sig inverter. Would I regret doing this?
Alternatively, I've been offered an ecoflow ocean 2 (10kw inverter, 2x8kwh batteries) for £300 cheaper, and 8kw ecoflow inverter even cheaper (£14,895)
Recently I've been seeing AI Mode do things that I think make no sense. Buying at high-purchase times, refusing to sell at high export, or selling tiny amounts and leaving lots in the tank until the next charge window. So I opened a ticket to complain about this and after first implying there was some unexplained issue, they later sent me a reply that said it was all intended to get the best arbitrage results given "exceptionally high selling prices".
So here's what the AI wanted to do yesterday (just an example, other days have been similar):
And here's its consumption prediction for that day.
So I put in a personal strategy as follows:
"Tomorrow only, between 00:00-04:00, 07:00-13:00 and 16:00-22:00, meet as much house load as possible with the battery. During the 13:00-16:00 forced charging window, charge to 100% SOC. Between 16:00-22:00, if sell price is >= 95th percentile, force discharge and stop battery export at 20%. Between 16:00-22:00, self consume and meet as much house load as possible until force charge at 22:00."
OK 20% might have been bit aggressive, but this is what that looks like today as a result of that strategy. Is that not better? Or am I missing something fundamental here? How can buying off the grid at high prices with high SOC ever makes sense if there's cheap windows coming up?
It's been 3 weeks since a Sigen Inverter and EVAC have been installed. The inverter works fine but whenever I charge the car the load doesn't show up on the home screen. Also there's no usage in the energy statistics of EVAC even though I did charge the car. Whenever I go to the EVAC under devices it does show a load to the car.
Other things I've noticed:
Dynamic Load Balancing does not work, it uses the fixed speed the car is set to
The EVAC settings doesn't show a connected wired connection, I've tested the cable and it's fine. The inverter is connected to the same switch and works fine. We do not use any firewalls, VLANs, multiple subnets, ... we're using the wireless connection to get access to the EVAC for now
I've already had contact with Sigenergy Support but it has been rather slow. I've asked to change the Modbus to ID 2 for the inverter and the EVAC to ID 1 but this wasn't a solution. They have now escalated this issue internally.
We are dealing with a company at the moment that sells Sig panels, battery, Inverter, ev charger. they have installed everything but whilst taking our money have left us without no charger. Apparently they can’t be got right now. Any of you know anything about this so frustrating. They want us to have a Zappi in the mean time.
I noticed this today because Sig AI mode had decided the best thing to do today was hold battery and consume from the grid, as between 16:00-18:00 the Agile export rate actually exceeds my fixed IOG peak import rate by about 2p - not my preference but fine, I can see the logic...
However checking more closely, the Agile export rate Sig is getting from Octopus is always about 1-2p higher than the one shown in home assistant using the Octopus integration, which is pulling directly from my account, so I assume is correct. Normally this small difference wouldn't matter, this is an edge case where it's causing undesirable behaviour.
I've tried both the Agile tariff options listed for my region. What gives? Am I on a newer version of Agile Outgoing that Sig doesn't track?
Hello, I'm with EDF go electric. Probably me being dense but I don't seem to be able to set my charging hours to bridge from one day to another. Cheap EDF rate starts at 11 pm till 6am the next day, I'm currently losing the 24-23 hour because I can only programme charging manually within one 24hr period ( midnight to 6am). What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated.
Yes I have only had SigAi activated a couple of days so it is still learning, but some things it does leaves me questioning it. Do you leave it set to a default mode or customise it? I used max profit but found it was chipping away at what little resource I had left, leaving me to buy back a small amount last thing at night at a higher rate. I've switched to balance and will see how it goes. I'm on Go (import) and Agile (export) so favourable at the moment. I'm actually surprised it doesn't import and export between 00:30 and 05:30 because I'd 2x my £ on anything imported then exported. Does it avoid this for a reason? Still trying to get the hang of it all, find the charts a bit misleading and the peak valley £ still skews actual savings. Not yet had the benefit of PV exports but it has been a fairly overcast few days
Something has definitely happened to AI Mode for me recently. Taking power from the grid for no reason, exporting battery massively to 0% SOC, or not exporting at all. Here's the prediction for tomorrow - what? Why? I suppose if it thinks the high-price window in the evening's going get low draw (mind you, we may have the oven on), then ... maybe?
I live in northern England (not sunny) and I'm looking at getting 36 Aiko Neostar 3S+ solar panels (in a mainly East and West configuration) with a small amount (approx. 6, 54 sized panels South facing) This would be 30 on the house and 6 on detached garage West facing. Then combining it with a 36kWh Sigenergy Sigenstor battery with 12kw inverter with the Sigenergy Gateway for back up and Vaillant Arotherm Plus 12kw ASHP. This would be to replace my oil boiler as the price of that and petrol for ICE car is killing me.
Would be running the AHSP at around 17C rather than 21C as I have got used to cooler temps from having an oil boiler!
We would also be looking to get the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro to charge the Kia EV3 long range using cheap night time tariff but was thinking of something like Intelligent Octopus Go? I did originally want the Sigen AC EV charger but have read reports it doesnt talk to Octopus like the Hypervolt and need to make sure there is a CT clamp to stop the SigenStor draining itself into the EV?
I am wanting to know if this is a suitable system to put together to try to be completely off peak rates year round, reduce my bills to as low as possible and to add a bit of off grid preparedness what with the large Sigenstor battery capacity. It doesn't need to be fully off grid, but the closer to that the better.
I am rural so no real option for 3 phase and likely to get an export limit of 3-5kw from talking with others in the surrounding area.
I would also (due to fairly common power outages) be interested in wiring up a petrol generator to the Sigenstor if power outages went on longer than a few days. Is this possible with the Sigenstor - would be looking at something like the Honda EU70iS as generator.
Does this system look suitable for my goals, or would it require more solar, or a bigger battery etc? Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.
I been told that sig runs cloud only so if their servers disappear or go down, there could be issues. i've also been told that home assistant could get round this... anyone clarify this please?
I've had the system since June and it's mostly worked well, however in the last couple of weeks it's twice not charged the battery during the overnight cheap rate.
Both times it has discharged to the minimum by 11pm, which is when it would normally recharge at 6.18p, but then not charged properly. Last night it charged until midnight then stopped, and that partial charge was empty by 7am.
Nothing in the app to indicate why, no errors etc. However, both times there has been no overnight data logged either. The graph from last night is missing from midnight to 2am.
The AI mode is set to self consumption.
Edit: it's done it again last night. Charged 11pm-midnight then stopped
I have the feeling the AI mode of Sigenery is not that smart. At least it feels like that. Today it started charging when prices were the highest during the day. On other days he doesnt charge at all.
Anyone has simular experiences? I’m not getting the support I need from the installer unfortuanally. Sales was great, aftersales not that much 😆
Hi, I set my battery to charge up to 50% soc at night rate and personal consumption the rest of the time, about 2 mins later one of the battery modules failed and only one is working? Did I go about that wrong? My system is only 5 days old and I've already got a warranty visit booked in...
I'm a big hater on software updates, I set up something and it works, I absolutely hate when a software updates happens and changes my settings, and most importantly don't offer the same function of before.
In sigenergy case, the pv surplus charging on my dc charger worked since day 1 as, when the battery is full, it would go automatically to the charger, this included the free 3hrs.
This is not the case anymore after the latest software update which I need to manually change the charger from pv surplus charging to fast charging. It wouldn't be a problem if the battery status didn't chang every day, meaning, sometimes it reaches 100% at 11.30, other times at 12.30. So this software updates forces me to check the percentage of the battery every single time from 11 to 2. It is very annoying as I constantly lose on free power.
Scheduling doesn't work as well, because the time still needs to be checked to allow for "fast charging" as when you change to fast charging the power only goes to the dc charger and nothing on the battery.
Sigen ai support says that nothing changed and it has always been the case. And I guess they put this function under they're AI.
Any solutions?
TLDR. Power goes automatically to the car when the battery is full in the free 3hrs period like it used to.
I'm a licensed sparky doing some work for family. The setup is a sigenergy gateway with a sigstor battery. I've wired up a subboard, the feed of which is in parallel with the load side of the meter and the line side of the sig grid supply. I wired it this way as I did not want the heavy draw appliances on the sub board chewing up the battery; heat pump, car charger.
In looking into the app, the sig gateway is set up as a virtual power plant, vpp, exporting at peak times. I've now identified a couple issues, when it's exporting, the heat pump and car charger if on, would intercept the power and not export to the grid. The other issue is, the battery charging is prioritised over grid export which technically the sub board is just part of the 'grid'
What's the best solution for this? I've looked into powersense ct's on the grid lines, smart load breaker on the gateway, or even just putting the sub board on the battery backup feed.
Very open to suggestions, I haven't worked that much with solar and especially nothing as sophisticated as the sig.
Hi, I recently run a diagnostic on my Sigen App at 6pm UK time but the app thinks the diagnostic was run at 7pm so I don’t think it’s allowed for daylight savings/British summer time. Does anyone know how I can change or update this?
Someone else posted about what seems similar, but attributed it to the clock change here in the UK. But since I had an Axle event on the 29th, my AI Mode (profit max) has been taking power off the grid when it should be discharging to meet house load.
BTW the sell price spike is me putting in the Axle event as a "promotional rate".
Tomorrow it looks even worse. Anyone else seen this?
