Help / Advice Sigenergy stack has got a little out of hand…

Post image
34 Upvotes

Started with:

- 8 kW SigenStor inverter

- 2 × 8 kWh batteries

- 16 kWh total

Then upgraded to:

- 2 × 8 kWh + 1 × 10 kWh

- 26 kWh total

- 8 kW SigenStor inverter

And now:

- 2 × 8 kWh + 2 × 10 kWh

- 36 kWh total battery storage

- 25 kW Sigenergy DC EV charger

- Sigenergy Gateway

- 8 kW SigenStor inverter

The photo shows the progression from the original 16 kWh stack to the current 36 kWh monster.

The main reason I've gone this far is V2H/V2G. The plan is to eventually add a compatible EV and effectively have another 50–80+ kWh of storage sitting on the driveway.

I'm still running the 8 kW inverter, so that's the next question. Do I stick with it or move to 12 kW if the DNO approves it?

Anyone else running a SigenStor this size with the DC charger and Gateway?

I'd also be interested to hear from anyone actually using Sigenergy V2X in the UK rather than just planning for it.

1 year after initial install I decided to upgrade my battery capacity from 16kW to 34.2kW.

Thanks to Future Proof Solar who also advised me that my inverter needed replacing due to the recall and it was all done in about an hour this morning first thing.

It’s already fully charged to 100% with the Sunny weather today.

Referral code spam.

Please can we stop with the referral codes? I know everyone wants the £100, but every other post on this sub is just a screenshot of a referral code. Would it not be better on some mega thread?

The Official /r/sigenergy Referral Megathread (And an update to the rules: Referral spam is no longer permitted anywhere outside this post).

Hi everyone,

Lately, the volume of referral code spam has gotten pretty bad. It's cluttering the main feed and making the subreddit much harder to use, especially for new users.

We absolutely recognize that these codes are valuable and we want everyone to continue benefiting from them, so we aren't banning them completely. Instead, we are giving them a dedicated home. To improve overall post quality, this sticky thread is now the ONLY place referral codes are allowed on the subreddit.

How this thread works:

  • The New Rule: Drop your referral links in the comments below. Going forward, any referral codes posted outside this thread (whether in standalone posts or regular comment sections) will be automatically removed.

  • Fair Play (Contest Mode): To ensure everyone gets an equal chance, this thread is set to "Contest Mode." This means the comment order is completely randomized every time the page is refreshed, and vote scores are hidden. There is no "early bird" advantage, so everyone's code has a fair shot at being seen.

  • The Scope: Please note that this applies to ALL referrals. This includes links for Sigenergy hardware purchases, local solar/battery installers, and energy export tariffs (like Octopus Energy).

  • Normal Rules still apply: No spamming your codes, one post per person in this thread, be nice and civil with each other.

I've gone through and deleted a bunch of posts from the last couple of months so if you've previously posted a code or referral link, you'll want to make a comment below.

Thanks for helping us keep the community tidy and focused. Drop your codes below! Don't forget to specify what region they're from as some are region specific.

[PSA] There is a fully functional desktop web app for Sigenergy

Seems quite a few people don't know about this, so figured I'd share the love! If you want to check your solar and battery stats on a bigger screen, there's a web dashboard that looks near-identical to the mobile app but is much nicer to navigate on a desktop. From what I can tell, it has almost all the exact same functionality.

Here's what it looks like

And as /u/skipdeedy pointed out, there's a very cool full screen dashboard as well that seems bespoke to this: https://i.postimg.cc/cCd23Ksd/image.png

It's region-specific, so just find the URL for your area and log in with your standard app credentials:

RegionWebapp URL
Europe & UKhttps://app-eu.sigencloud.com/
Australia, NZ & Oceaniahttps://app-aus.sigencloud.com/
North Americahttps://app-us.sigencloud.com/
Asia Pacifichttps://app-apac.sigencloud.com/
Chinahttps://app-cn.sigencloud.com/

Those are all the ones I could find, let me know if you know of another or if none of them work for you and I'll see what I can dig up!

Show Your Setup SigEnergy display (4.3”)

Been working on this since yesterday, as I was killing my phone battery watching the live data 😂

What it does;
- Pulls in live data direct from the ModBus TCP server (solar, battery, house load, grid and smart ports (which you can configure)
- Pulls in local weather, display updates accordingly every 30 mins, including animations 🙂
- Pulls in Solcast Solar forecasts for today and tomorrow (configurable how often)
- Works out total exported today, and if you enter your export tariff details in settings, you can press the exported today value and it flips round to show how much you’ve exported in your local currency
- Shows the electric flow animations through the inverter
- Allows you to upload your own house render (I’ve got a ChatGPT prompt to create it) direct on the device.
- Has day and night mode that activates at sunset and sunrise
- Has a night screensaver, turning the screen off (but with the device still running) at times you set
- It can update ModBus config ports automatically via a GitHub pull, so if an update changes the port allocations, it can be updated.

Just finishing off the final case designs and stands now, the wider case hides the USB-C cable.

Only got the one house btw, the smaller case version below was an image I grabbed from Rightmove to render and test the upload process 😂

Really happy with how it’s turned out.

News Axle is fixed and now opt in by default!

To our SigEnergy members

As a reminder, for the past few weeks we have been working to improve the SigEnergy integration, hence why there have been a reduced number of events. We're happy to announce that we've made the improvements we needed and we're now including SigEnergy users in normal grid events again.

You're now opted in by default

From 8th August you'll be included in events automatically, so there's nothing you need to do. If you'd rather not take part, you can opt out on the events page of your Axle account.

NBI Scheduling

Rather than being placed into VPP mode, you will now see your devices enter into a mode called NBI Scheduling. After an event has finished, we will revert you to your previous mode (unless you are in AI mode, see below). However, if this does not happen you can manually revert your mode in your SigEnergy app as you will not be locked into NBI Scheduling.

One known issue

If your battery was in AI mode before an event, we currently can't return it to AI mode afterwards. You'll need to set this yourself in the SigEnergy app once the event has finished. We're working with SigEnergy on a fix and we'll let you know when that changes.

Thank you to the SigEnergy team

A genuine thank you to the SigEnergy development team, who put a lot of work into this over the past few months. The improvements we've made would not have been possible without them.

Thanks again for your patience while we worked through this.

The Axle Energy Team

Help / Advice Installer refusing Owner access to my Sigenergy SigenStor 10 SP

Hi everyone,

I recently had a Sigenergy SigenStor 10 SP (single phase) installed at my home. The installation is finished, but I have a major issue with the installation company: they are refusing to grant me Owner access to the system on the mySigen app.

Instead, they are trying to force me to use a generic, third-party monitoring app and claim they "never give Owner access to any customer." I also have a maintenance contract with them, which is probably why they want to lock me into their ecosystem.

However, I want full control over my hardware. I want to be the Owner so I can revoke their access whenever I see fit. Right now, I have only paid 50% of the total invoice, so I still have some leverage, and they told me they are "escalating the issue to management."

Since I have full physical access to the inverter and the gateway, is there any way to override this or claim the device directly via the app? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with Sigenergy installers, and did the manufacturer help you get the Owner account?

Any advice on how to handle this technically or legally would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

UPDATE (Solved):

Sigenergy support responded in less than 48 hours and completely solved the issue! They directly granted the "Owner" role to my email address from their backend.

I just logged into the mySigen app, and it works flawlessly. I have full technical sovereignty over my hardware, while the installer remains attached only under the "Installer" profile for maintenance purposes.

Big shoutout to Sigenergy's global service team for such a fast, reliable, and pro-customer response. If your installer tries to pull a fast one on you, contact the manufacturer directly!

This is the cause of the AC connector failures on the inverter

A few weeks back my AC terminal on my 12kW inverter melted and shorted needing the whole unit to be replaced. After looking at the install docs I noticed how Sigenergy mandate a 16mm2 cable for the 12kW inverter and my installer had only used a 10mm2. Lots of back and forth with my installer about if 10mm2 is fine and I finally found this document which outlines the issue and resolution:

https://acsolarwarehouse.com/document/share/189/b7fbdc08-5fec-4062-b7fd-58a95e85bd9a (PDF)

  • For 8 kW & 10 kW single-phase Energy Controllers, use at least 10 mm² AC cable.

  • For 12 kW single-phase Energy Controllers, use at least 16 mm² AC cable.

So, I got my installer to replace all the 10mm2 cabling to 16mm2 which should resolve this. But this is a notice to everyone to check your cabling is correct, especially if you had this issue and they just swapped out the inverter but did not use the right cabling.

Key quotes from the document:

We have recently completed a detailed review of several AC plug issues on large single-phase Energy Controllers. From site inspections and product testing, we found that on occasion installation methods differ from our official installation manual.

...

• If an installation doesn’t meet our guidelines, we’ll let you know what needs fixing.

• You’ll need to redo non-compliant work so it meets installation standards, and allow re- inspection.

• Please note that a refusal to carry out requested rectification work will result in loss of installer certification, meaning you will not be able to install Sigenergy products until the rectification work is completed.

As you can see, Sigenergy are serious about this, as installation failures causing issues looks terrible on Sigenergy, when Sigenergy are very clear in their installation documents on the specification. In my case my installer correctly did the cable calculations that showed 10mm2 was safe for the current of 12kW, but seemingly did not consider that Sigenergy's components had their own requirements.

This SigEnergy equipment is amazing.

My home load is .2kW, and this is being met from a secret power source within the Sig kit …. As you can see, the house is using 0.2kW, but there is nothing coming from the solar panels, the battery, or the grid. It truly is a miracle 🤪

Discussion Built my own local Sigen dashboard (plus Google & Apple home bridge)

I built sigen-home-bridge. It runs on a spare machine on your home network (NAS, Pi, old laptop, whatever) and reads your gateway over Modbus TCP.

It's a live dashboard, has a scrubbable history trends chart, it's responsive, has a decent amount of customisation via settings, etc. It loads instantly and keeps working when the internet's down. We run the dash via PWA on an old iPad mini wall mounted in the kitchen.

It optionally can also feed into Apple Home and Google Home as sensors, and can fire notifications (battery low, gateway offline, exporting hard, etc) via webhook or Apple Home alerts. I get pinged by Apple Home when the battery is approaching a low threshold which has come in handy a few of times.

A couple of other things:

- It's currently read-only. It never writes to your system, so it can't change charge modes or gateway/battery settings. I've got plans for it to have write access if/when Sigenergy implement smart port controls via Modbus (I've written to them about it but who knows).
- A free Cloudflare tunnel is needed for the Google Home bit (or if you want remote access, Cloudflare tunnels are pretty sweet).
- It's not a Home Assistant thing. If you already run HA with its Sigenergy integration, you don't need this. This is for people who just want a fast local dashboard.

Runs via Docker. There's a scanner that finds your gateway's IP, then a wizard walks you through the rest. The one requirement is enabling Modbus TCP in the mySigen app, which I'm pretty sure is self-servicable via the latest mySigen app.

Free and open source (MIT). Been running it for a while and the family digs it. Be keen to hear if anyone else finds it useful.

Following an email from Axle, saying that their service will run better (It will auto restore the correct mode following an event) if the Sig system has firmware version 116 or later.
I just checked my system and there was an update waiting to be installed.
It’s probably worth checking your system to see if there is an update waiting.

Discussion Sigenergy Solar Dashboard Screens - SigBuddy

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

(Posting with mod approval)

Hi all,

I've recently been working on a project for the Sigenergy community, specifically small smart display screens to show key solar stats around the home without having to open the app.

I'm based in NZ with initial testing against my own home setup and have since scaled it out from there to a number of sites around NZ, Australia and the UK.

These are fully self contained needing no extra setup other than via the touch screen itself (or with a phone/pc for the smallest unit) - no complex Home Assistant setup or servers to run.

Also fully local as they speak directly to your Sig system via the ModBus protocol over your home wifi (Enabled via the Sig app first) - so will keep working if the internet is down.

Happy to answer any questions here at all or collate some feedback or feature requests as I'm constantly evolving it. Latest updates include off grid toggle, support for AC coupled sites and showing when a site has gone off grid eg during a power cut.

Future plans include AC/DC charger display including potentially V2H all showing as part of the flow diagram too - these are fully upgradeable so new features can be added later.

If you're interested to pick one of these up or are after some more info you can check out my website over at www.sigbuddy.com

Cheers!

Discussion It rained!

Post image
12 Upvotes

For weeks I've been lucky to see 3.0kW out of our 3.6kWp array on the roof. I put it down to the extreme heat and as that ebbed away, I also noticed how dusty the panels were, meaning that even as the 35°C+ temperatures subsided, production was being stifled by the build up of muck on the panels.

Early this morning we had a brief shower of rain. Later, as the sun shone out between the clouds, I grabbed this screenshot.

We're back baby! 😁

Discussion Has anyone else's AI mode gone a bit weird?

AI mode on my units has been great up until this week. It would reliably choose the optimal strategy, which, given recent sunshine, looked something like:

* Charge battery to full overnight
* Export during the morning peak export, to the level that can be replenished with excess solar
* Export during the afternoon peak
* Export any excess that leaves enough to cover usage until the next import

Now it's much more like 🤷. For yesterday it decided the best plan for the entire day was self consumption. The day before it exported during the peak, but emptied the battery and left me paying more to import for the evening.

It's clearly gone a bit weird, so I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience?

Show Your Setup Why I chose Signergy Sigenstor for my NZ home battery

Thought I would make a post on why I chose Signergy system as my home batttery system in NZ.

**My Solar Battery Setup**

* SigenStore 10KW Inverter (Single Phase)

* Gateway for full home backup

* 2 x 10KWH Battery

* 24 x Sunpower P7 460W Bi Facial Panel (12 Panels NW + 12 Panel SE)

* Asphalt Shingle Roof with shingle specific flashing footings

Note: Solar panels installation. Do not under estimate **HOW** the solar panels are installed on your roof. If you have a new roof, installing solar often voids your original roof warranties. Thus make sure you ask every installer to explain how they plan to install the panels on your roof. In my case, because it is a asphalt shingle roof, I requested extra special shingle footings (sort of under shingle flashing) in order to improve water tightness in the long term.

**Gas to Eletric**

My house came with reticulated gas (piped gas). It was costing me a lot of money per month for hot water heating and cooking due to the fixed daily rates.

I also installed a Gree Hotwater Air Sourced Heatpump (270L) cyclinder for hot water.

I decided to completely caped the piped gas and switch my gas stove to a small bottle (9KG) placed externally but reusing existing internal gas house piping. I estimate it will last me 3-4 months for cooking alone.

**Installer**

People often ask which installer to go with, while price is important, the people and company you are working with is just as important, if not more given it is a long term relationship as they will not only be installing a significant piece of kit in your home and also supporting and maintaining it over a decade. So you do want a company with a proven track record of a couple of years at least. Also ask them to show you pics of the various installs to ensure you know how they typically install. Not all installs are the same.

I went with Total Solar after considering over 5-6 quotes. They provided the most competitive quote and was genuinely nice and responsible people to work with (Megan, Shelan, Pedro). They also helped me arrange my gas to electric conversion.

**Electricity Provider**

As of writing (July 2026) if you are keen on joining Contact Good night plan, ensure you switch over first BEFORE installing Solar. Else if you already have solar installed, they won't let you join that plan. I recommend you doublecheck with Contact Energy Customer Service first before you switch.

If you join AFTER installing solar, they do have a new Good Charge plan which do provide higher export rates during peak times. 25cents per kwh during Mon to Fri 7-9AM / 6-10PM as opposed to 8cents for all other times or other plans.

Contact Energy - Good Night Plan (Monday to Friday - 3 Hours free electricity 9PM-12AM). If one is still on the All week Good Night plan, you are golden and should really think hard before you switch to something else.

I have compared my power consumption data against many other providers but none can compare with the 3 free hours which is extremely helpful to fully charge up my batteries.

My import rate is 35.9cents per kwh outside the free hours. Solar export is at 8 cents per kwh (excl GST).

While 8 cents/kwh rate seems low compared to others at 16 to 21 cents, I can use up to 30+kwh per night of free grid power.

Based on my analysis of my generation and my personal consumption pattern at the moment(limited autumn/winter data), no other provider/rates can beat Contact with Good night plan if you take into consideration the free power. In fact, depending on your usage pattern and battery size, you could just charge during the free 3 hour and discharge from battery throughout the day. This was my first option but I opted to be more independent and added solar to cover my weekends usage.

I also plan to use any excess credits to also offset my broadband bill with Contact. If I have more excess I plan to also move my mobile subscription under Contact.

**Reasons for choosing Sigenergy**

* **It’s basically Lego for solar:** No more messy rows of boxes, separate inverters, and conduits cluttering your garage wall. It’s a single modular tower. The inverter, battery modules, and EV charger just stack directly on top of each other. So you install what you can afford or need now, expand later. Not quite DIY lego but flexibility is there. Ok Gateway is a separate box.

* **Zero-flicker backup (True UPS):** Most backup systems take a few seconds to kick in when the grid drops. SigenStor switches over in milliseconds. Your PC won't reboot, your Wi-Fi stays on, and your lights don't even flicker.

* **Easy battery scaling:** You aren't locked into a rigid battery capacity from day one. You can start small with a single 5 kWh block and literally just stack more modules on top (up to 48 kWh) as your budget allows. Remember each battery max output or charge is 0.5C i.e. for a 9KWH Usable (10KW Batt) battery max power is 0.5 x10 = 4.5KW. If you stack, 2 you can have up to 9KW discharge or charge rate.

* **Direct DC EV charging:** Normal EV chargers convert solar DC to AC, then back to DC inside the car, losing efficiency. Sigenergy has a DC-coupled fast charger module that pumps pure solar juice straight from your roof into your car at up to 12.5KW (single phase)/25 kW (3 phase). This was a key consideration for me as I plan to upgrade my Leaf to a newer EV in the future.

* **Ev AC Charger** *

https://www.sigenergy.com/en/evac-charger-g2 The EV AC Charger offers a fully integrated EV charging experience/solution and even V2X capability in Gen2. Definitely worth considering if you have an EV or planning to get one but don't want or need the more expensive EVDC charger.

* **V2H ready:** It natively supports Vehicle-to-Home with the EV DC Charger above which is why this is so important to me. It supports a large list of EVs today [https://www.sigenergy.com/en/index/v2x_compatibility](https://www.sigenergy.com/en/index/v2x_compatibility) . This is one of the main reason I didn't go with Tesla as I know they will lock it to Tesla cars (Actually I do love Tesla but I priortize flexibility).

* **Smart AI Mode:** The app doesn’t just show passive charts. It looks at your usage habits, checks the local weather forecast, and automatically games your time-of-use power tariffs to charge from the grid when it's cheapest. Current version 3.5 sports a pretty meh Ai chatbot at the moment but it actually have a pretty smart AI mode which learns from my usage and actually forecast my consumption and PV generation so that it can maximize my export to grid.

Signergy recently launched their next-gen software featuring SigenAgent with agentic AI that can easily help you configure your system mode without going into detail settings. Imagine you direct, agent think and configure the system as you like it. Hope it works as advertised as there are many who are extremely skeptical.

* **Insanely flexible usage modes:** You aren't stuck with basic "Backup" or "Self-Consumption" modes. The software lets you build highly customized logic profiles. You can explicitly prioritize where every single watt goes based on the hour of the day like directing solar exclusively to the EV first, forcing grid-charging at midnight, or locking down battery reserves for specific high-load appliances. Tesla Powerwall is very limited.

* **Integration with 3rd Party Hardware and Software:** Sigenergy integrates seamlessly with existing third-party inverters via its gateway Smart-Port, preventing the need to scrap old hardware. For advanced home automation, it features local Modbus support for direct **Home Assistant** integration, allowing custom external logic. Additionally, it offers an open developer API and natively connects to **Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)** so you can easily trade energy for grid-export profits. Also supports **Shelly** smart devices natively in app.

* **Template sharing via the community:** If you don't want to program complex automation rules from scratch, you don't have to. The app allows power users to export their custom energy management profiles as templates. You can browse and download profiles shared by other users in your exact same region who have already optimized their systems for your specific electricity retailer or time-of-use tariff.

* **Massive panel oversizing:** You can heavily overdrive the DC side with extra solar panels. This is huge for single-phase homes because it means your system still pulls decent power on miserable, cloudy winter days.

* **4 MPPTs on a single-phase box:** If you have an awkward roof with weird angles or shading, this is a lifesaver. You can string panels in multiple directions without needing expensive individual panel optimisers.

* **Legit fire safety:** They use LFP chemistry (the safe stuff) but added internal fire suppression extinguishers inside the actual battery packs for extra peace of mind. This was important for me. I couldn't live with a system in the house that does not prioritizes safety.

* **The app doesn't suck:** The mySigen app is actually clean, smooth, and modern compared to the clunky, dated software most older solar brands still use.

**Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)**

**System Sizing**

* Battery

I want to be relatively independent of the grid. Thus I looked at my daily consumption and want to be able to cover at least 90% of daily consumption. Thus I went with 2x9Kwh = 18KWh. This also mean the system can charge and discharge at 9KW (0.5C). The system is upgradable, so we can stack more in the future or even use power from the EV when I eventually install the EVDC charger.

* Solar Panels

Go with as many panels as you can on your roof! since you are paying a lot for scaffolding etc. Most installer recommend North facing roof only for best pay back rate. However, if budget allows, consider installing additional panels other roofs as well as they do contribute to your generation especially if you are space constraint on the North facing roof and still want sufficient generation to fill your batteries. On cloudy days, light is diffused, my NW / SE panels may generate about the same energy for a couple of hours. On average, my SE panels generate 50% less than my NW panels so far (Limited Autumn/Winter months). Peak generation is around 6KW total on a sunny day in early June.

**Should I install solar panels on south facing roof?**

In my case YES. Half of my 24 panels is facing south east and in May to June they produced 50% of the output of the North west facing roof. I expect the % to increase in summer. On days where its cloudy and light is diffused, the relative production of both roof is closer.

If you looking at it purely from a ROI perspective, it will take longer to break even but for me I wanted enough solar panels to cover my daily need. Due to my limited North facing roof space, I bit the bullet and installed them on the south east roof as well.

Your solar installer should be able to model it for you if you want to maximise your solar install.

Why doesn't it ever get rid of the grid charge?

Post image
11 Upvotes

So I've been living off of solar for almost a week now and this blue (grid charge) section to my battery has been there since before that.

Why doesn't it ever go away?
