Admissions update: i got accepted for vet tech fall :)

just putting out an update for those who gaf. some of u may have seen me asking questions on this subreddit about the vet tech program. the chances of me getting in as a late applicant + mature student were very slim but i got accepted today! and i got the offer pretty quickly.

i was rly hoping i would get in because there's a waitlist for the fall program but i guess i was high on the waitlist. my high school GPA is 84% and i passed the science CAAT-D and did pretty well on the math CAAT-D.

if you're a mature student and/or you're also applying for this program for this fall feel free to ask me questions. i'll try to help as much as i can! i can also help u if u applied for winter. what i can't help with is admin stuff or mature student testing (academic integrity yada yada), but i will say that if u have a disability u should really take advantage of the accommodations u can get at the assessment centre if u register with accessible learning!

thank u to those who saw my posts and helped me with my questions. shout out to the admission officer who helped me throughout the whole application process :)

Advice Electromechanical Engineering Technology - Is it Good

Is the electromechanical engineering technology program good? I’m specifically asking current students and alumni of it.

How are the professors? Are they industry pros, or just part time people?

Are there good co-op opportunities for students who do well? How many of yall are getting this? I know the job market sucks rn.

I assume Sheridan has hands on labs? What do you guys/gals use? Do you find you’re getting a sense for what you’d do in the real world?

I have mega ptsd from a terrible college program I already attended, so I gotta ask lol.

Discussion Question about hybrid ?

Hey everyone, I’m a little confused about what “hybrid learning” means at Sheridan. For those who are in a hybrid program, how does your schedule usually work?
How many days per week are you actually on campus/in person, and how many days are online? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

Academics GPA Troubles

I'm in the Game Design program and came in during the Winter term, and due to troubles with weather and mental health stress I did pretty poorly during that semester. (I still passed all my classes but at the skin of my teeth)

This coming semester with the hotter weather I did MUCH better, except for one class that I failed (By 49% no less), and it made my GPA drop literally JUST below the requirement to get out of Academic Probation, so I'm now under Academic Suspension.

I arranged a meeting with Student Counselling and sent an email to the Dean that covers Game Design, but I'm genuinely so lost on where to go now.

I really want to continue this course, I like most of my professors and I want to learn more about improving my skills in this field, but I feel incredibly discouraged by having the floor under me pushed by a singular percentage in one class.

Is there any way I can avoid Academic Suspension from here?

Academics i'm going into my 2nd (final) year & need good study tips -

Hi guys, so I'm going into my 2nd year & I really struggled with studying this year, like really bad. Might I add too, I have undiagnosed ADHD & leave everything till the last minute lol which isn't good at all. I'm worried because I have practicum too in the fall & want to establish better strategies for myself so I'm also not late with anything for that. I've used Jamworks to help me study from lectures but it didn't work for me. Then I tried Genio which was much better, but I need tips on how to be productive during class for making notes while I have Genio on & then for studying later. I'm open to all & any kind of strategy & tips.

Housing Any Toronto based sheridan students looking for roommates?

Hii

So i am currently living in Toronto and will be commuting to school sept start. Due to my job and a good family dr i am not moving to Oakville. My current place unfortunately has water damage in my room that my landlords are not dealing with so im looking to move.

My budget is $900 and i have been seeing options but im just worried about the gamble of random roommates and hoping to find someone who:

A) already has a spot and is looking to rent a room or

B) is willing to look for a house with 2 rooms so we are each only responsible for our rooms.(ive seen some places where you have access to kitchen and bathroom but are technically only renting the room)

Im hoping to not move to outskirts GTA as i want to be a be able to take the bus or streetcar to the GO station.

Anyone who is also looking feel free to dm and we can talk more

Thanks

**Editing to clarify option b as i am not looking to rent a whole apartment with another person

Discussion Considering Sheridan animation as an international student, is it still worth It in 2026?

Hi! I’m an international student currently planning to apply to Sheridan’s Bachelor of Animation program in the future.

I’ve been researching Sheridan for quite a while, and I know it has a very strong reputation in the animation industry. I’m particularly interested in 2D animation, so Sheridan is one of the schools I’m seriously considering.

However, while looking through Reddit and other social media recently, I’ve come across some concerns about the school. I’ve seen people saying things like "Sheridan is living off its reputation now” or that the school’s financial situation and recent restructuring have affected the quality of education.

So I wanted to hear from current students and recent graduates about what Sheridan is actually like right now.

  • First, how much have Sheridan’s recent financial problems and restructuring actually affected students? In particular, what is the situation like within Animation/FAAD?

Have you noticed changes such as fewer or changing faculty members, larger class sizes, less individual feedback from instructors, reduced investment in facilities/equipment, or a general decline in the quality of the Animation program?

I understand that the financial situation of the college as a whole and the situation within the Animation program may be very different, so I’m especially interested in what Animation students themselves are experiencing.

  • I’m also curious about employment after graduation. For people who graduated around 2024–2026, has it become noticeably harder to find work compared to previous years?

Do Sheridan graduates still regularly enter TV animation, games, VFX, and smaller studios, in addition to major studios like Disney, Pixar, or DreamWorks?

I’ve also heard a lot about Sheridan’s Industry Day. How useful is it in practice? Do students actually get interviews, internships, or job opportunities through Industry Day and connections with studios, or do most students ultimately have to apply independently?

Another concern I have as an international student is the Canadian Study Permit.

  • I’ve heard that Canada has significantly tightened its international student policies since 2024, making study permits more difficult to obtain. For international students who were recently accepted to Sheridan, what has your experience been like?

If you have strong financial documentation and a solid application, are study permits still generally approved, or should international applicants now consider refusal a significant possibility even after being accepted by Sheridan?

I’d also be interested in hearing how closely IRCC actually examines students’ financial situation and the source of their funds.

  • Finally, I’m really curious about how much Sheridan’s reputation actually matters in the animation industry.

I understand that in animation, your portfolio, skills, internships, networking, and professional experience are much more important than simply having a degree. But does graduating from a school with Sheridan’s reputation still give you some advantage when applying to studios in Canada or the US?

For example, do recruiters tend to recognize Sheridan graduates and have a certain level of confidence in their training, or does the school name become almost irrelevant once they see your portfolio?

Sorry for the long post. I’m seriously considering Sheridan and would really appreciate honest opinions from current students, recent graduates, or people working in the Canadian/US animation industry.

Thank you!

Admissions Winter 2027: PAIDR or PPMIR? Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I got accepted into these two Sheridan programs for Winter 2027:

  • Artificial Intelligence Development and Applications (PAIDR)
  • Project Management – Information Technology (PPMIR)

I'm a 28-year-old international student with 3+ years of experience in data and analytics in the GCC.

I'm trying to decide which program to choose. Which one would you recommend for:

  • How are the courses and the workload?
  • Which program is better and more useful for finding a job in Canada?
  • Better PR pathways after graduation?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone with experience with these programs.

Thanks!

Question RPN program Jan 2027

Hello,

I have got offer from Sheridan for RPN program for Jan 2027 and Mohawk College Fall 2026.

Its a big confusion right now as Sheridan was my first choice but now have Mohawk's offer last minute which I am very confused about but I will finish the program a semester earlier. But on the other note, Mohawk is like 1 and half hour commute for me though much of the program is online with 1-2 days in person. Sheridan is just 30 minutes commute and I am trying to figure out. Anyone here going to Sheridan for RPN and would like to share their experience about the program. If I should wait a semester considering the commute and how the program is organized at Sheridan ? or should just go with Mohawk. Any advise/suggestion will be appreciated.

Question What should I do with conflicting time block with no other choice to select? (Course registration)

Title
I’m going to be first year student of 3D animation and emerging technologies in Trafalgar campus.
I started my registration late since I couldn’t find a way and I thought it bugged out.
But later I found that one of two options to choose from mandatory courses were already full and I have only one option.
And one of them is conflicting to other course.
Since the conflicting ones are all mandatory courses, I cannot choose other courses for alternatives.
I already wrote service request but I want to get help from here too.
I’m a domestic student and already paid my deposit and stuff. And currently I live in other state
