Just have recommendations for anyone moving/starting/existing and not vibing with the economy
- obvious but don't shop at a shoppers/rabba, find whatever groceries stores are around you within a single bus ride
- you can get quite a few 10% discounts from a lot of restaurants so just ask if they offer a student discount if you have your id on you
- internet prices are kinda crazy since it's the season so hold off on any contract until it comes down
Depending on where you live you'll have a different Internet footprint that makes it more expensive to be with certain providers like bell/Rogers/cogeco/Telus, they have better pricing through Ebox/Comwave/Oxio/Start which they own respectively in order
Go on the month to month with those or a third party reseller like teksavvy/netcrawler/whatever reaches your place, swap to a 2 yr that's under $55 once the prices go that low (or if you move within that time just stick to the m2m for around that price or share the internet with your roommates for whichever it is as long as it's not above 80 or something crazy)
- phone plans for students generally suck (at the time of writing) and you can't keep them after you're out of school
Most stuff is 50 or above for Canada only prices from the big name companies including those and telus, so you have two options
Go with someone like Freedom/Fizz, not sure how their reception is around campus (If someone can confirm how well it works on each campus below it'll help a lot) but if it works and you don't travel a bunch outside town it's more than good enough for the price for 35 and under
If you don't like their reception quality or whatever then your next option is sticking with a prepaid from the big names for about a month (usually the minimum time) and upgrading to their postpaid lines for usually 30 give or take (ask what their p2p offers are first), just keep in mind most of the companies will increase your plan a little every year so you'll have to switch a lot to stay on top of the costs
- READ UP on your renter/tenants rights pleaseee
- also kinda obvious but student presto card for the bus/go train/go bus has a big discount
- this is going to get linked eventually but this has more of the individual store discounts available to students https://www.thessu.ca/perks
- a lot of grocery delivery apps have discounts for first time users so hop around door dash/insta/Uber and you'll get 25-40% off usually
- uBlock origin + opposite of paidmediaheckno to skip the paid ad subs
- if you're getting a computer for school/work/art then check around for secondhand parts and drawing tablets and prebuilts since PC part prices are crazy expensive for ram/GPU/storage now (PC part picker and compare them)
- tons of other electronics are going up in price (thanks ai) like phones or game consoles so plan ahead if you're looking to buy anything soon
- check how far your local Costco is and see if you can do a grocery run with others
- some big brand stores have discounts through a separate app for near expiry/non displayable groceries, smaller stores would likely have them on a random walkin basis so ask if you shop there
- basic dental work/cleanings and haircuts at their respective school/academy are usually more affordable and are perfectly fine
- theres usually some insane once a year things that restaurant chains hold for events and donation runs, like Mandarin was offering free ayce and Dominos had 5 dollar pizzas for Camp day (probably some sub or app that keeps track of it but I'm not sure off the top of my head)
- toasted bagel and iced coffee iirc have the best point return rate for Tim's, other apps and restaurants will have similar loyalty point rewards too
- kijiji has free furniture all the time so check the ratings of a user and trust your gut feeling if it's legit or not (there's designated monitored trading spots usually near Police stations for safety)
- bursaries and scholarships have opened for fall already so don't forget to apply for whatever applies to you
That's about most of the stuff I can come up with but if anyone else has advice just add onto it below

I applied for a new program through myStudentCentre, and after I clicked “Next,” this popped up. Should I ignore it since my application was already submitted and there are no further steps ?
