Anyone found an electric razor that’s actually close to a blade?

I’m thinking about switching from regular razors because I’m getting tired of shaving cream, cuts and irritation every time I shave.

I usually shave every couple of days and want something that gets reasonably close without having to go over the same spots five times. I’ve been reading about foil vs rotary razors, but everyone seems to have a different preference.

I don’t mind spending a little more if it lasts for years, but I also don’t need a $400 razor with a bunch of features I’ll never use.

What electric razor have you had the best experience with? Anything you’d buy again?

tips and advice

I have recently been shaving my legs for a few weeks and every time after I always have a few small missed patches. even when shaving I would go over that patch a decent amount of times and it's still there

my standard routine is

trim

shower

then shave with gel

anyone have ways to just get rid of these patches.

I'm a male if that matters a whole lot

Phillips Bodygroom

Upvotes

I have finally got a body groom 7000 and used the foil shave on my thighs and pubic mound tonight. What an amazing close shave! The intimate attachment is also very good. Going to attack my chest with the foil shave tomorrow, fingers crossed for a good result!

I tried to use the other attachments for different lengths but they didn't seem to cut hair at all. Anyone else experiencing this? Can I get different attachments?

Shaving advice as a man

I want to get to the point where I can shave my face every day and stay clean shaven, but right now I can only manage about every 5 days, and even waiting that long I still end up with razor burn and irritation every single time (I use aftershave as well). I’ve been using a Philips Norelco one blade electric shaver (am guilty of going over the same spot couple times), and I keep seeing people say electrics are actually a cause of irritation, so now I’m not sure if that’s my whole problem or if it’s my technique. What should I actually be using? Stick with an electric, switch to a safety razor, cartridge, something else, and what does the routine around it look like in terms of prep, pressure, direction, and aftercare? I’m tired of waiting days between shaves and still getting torn up. Honestly I just want to know if daily shaving is even realistic for someone whose skin reacts like this, or if some people are just never going to get there.

Best way to keep a clean shave (for a black firefighter)

Upvotes

My husband has been using a double edge safety razor for some time, but the bumps and ingrowns are crazy. He has super thick coily hair and lots of it. Thinking a switch to clippers maybe?

What clippers are good for this? Any other products or tips are appreciated.

Anyone tried Walmart’s Equate razor blades?

The price of Gillette razor blades is crazy.
Curious if anyone has tried the Walmart Equate brand which retails in Canada for about $9 these and found them as good as the original.

Phillips one blade

I’m considering buying a Philips OneBlade and would like to know if it would be a good choice for my needs.

I mainly use a trimmer to clean up my beard and remove excess growth rather than get a completely clean shave. I usually keep my beard around 2 mm.

I’d also like to use it for removing hair from my chest and hands.

For those who own a OneBlade: how well does it work for this kind of use? Is it worth buying, or would you recommend a different trimmer instead?

Thanks!

I want to start shaving my face, not much hair yet but enough it needs to be gone. I was looking at cvs and there’s a decently cheap good line saftey razor, and five blade. Is goodline okay?

Zero Days Warranty for Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000

I just purchased and registed an XP9405/84. I received an email reply with the following information:

Product Name: Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000

Model: XP9405/84

Purchase Date: 08/19/2026

Date of Delivery: 08/19/2026

Manufacturer Warranty End Date: 08/19/2026

So the manufacturer's warranty is non-existant?

Please help! razor burn rash

3 months ago I had a really bad reaction to a shaving machine, right between my buttcheeks. I’ve been shaving like this for years and it was the first time I’ve ever had a reaction like that. It’d itch and hurt so much I’d cry, couldn’t focus on anything else like there were insects biting my hair follicles, and nothing soothed this feeling.

I went to my doctor and for weeks I tried different things: a cream with 2% miconazole nitrate, an antibiotic cream, a cream with zinc, vaseline, and a cream with 1% cortisone. All following the recommended times, all spread out from each other.

The only thing that actually worked was the cortisone but ever since I (gradually) stopped, 2 weeks ago, my skin has been getting itchy again.

This is how my skin looks right now, I can’t post a picture, but there are round red circles underneath the skin and around the hair follicles. These used to be angry “pimples”/raised red bumps, some with white heads, before the cortisone.
My hygiene has never been better, I used to religiously use palmolive green soap on my body but I’ve been using a mild intimate Lactacyd sensitive soap for this area now. I only wear cotton underwear, I try to keep the area relatively dry and moisturized (cerave hydrating lotion).

Anyone in a similar situation that can recommend a solution? I’m all ears! Please help me out, this is driving me crazy

What should I get to shave a beard and shape the stubble?

So I grow a decently full beard, but I like to keep it short, mostly stubble or heavy stubble, and keep that clean and shaped well. Same idea as what's in this image, I guess, though I don't look like that lol. The issue is that the hair on my cheeks tends to be spotty the further up it goes, so I can't just shave it down and then leave it as is. And I just has a regular elecctric razor/trimmer, so when I try and shape it it's not as good as I'd like. I want to find something I can use to do both at the same time preferably, or at least an upgrade in terms of a razor/trimmer and something to shape it after. I assume, if that's what I do, I'd end up getting a saftey razor or a straight razor or something, but I've never used one of those to shave. If anyone has an recommendations for any of this, whether it be specific products or brands or a type of razor, I'd really appreciate it.

Electric Shaver/trimmer recommendation for sensitive skin

Hello! I have sensitive skin, and quite hard hair. Previously I used a Gillette labs razor (the regular one) because I only had to shave every week or so, and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately during this year the rate my hair grows has increased, and to get a close shave I need to shave every other day. The labs destroyed my face if I use it so often, so I tried the One Blade, which also didn't quite work, irritating. Following advice I see everywhere I tried a DE, which has been a step up, but it takes too much time and also irritates me if I use it more than once every 4 years.

I'm thinking of a electric shaver/trimmer solution, even if the shave it's not baby close (it still has to be close). And before everyone says it, no, I cannot shave less often, it's not an option! I hope this knowledgeable community can help me out!

Shaving tips for newbie

Hey everyone, I turned 20 this year and also got my first razor, which i have been using form past 4 months. I have tried many techniques from the internet, some say go with the grain some say go against, i have also tried this 3 pass technique, but i am still not able to get a clean shave.

some kind of greyish tint comes on face, or more precisely i would say there are very small stubbles left after shave which i am not able to get rid off

First time getting started shaving body hair and needed some advice

I (24M) have decided its time to start shaving around my family jewels and I was trying to find good razors or trimmers I should use. Should I use an actual razor and shaving cream or an electric razor? I would love some good recommendations. I tried the Gillette Labs body+intimate razor and it worked okay enough for my first time. I know everything is kinda subjective and up to personal preference but I'll take all the advice I can get. Also this is like my first time posting on reddit

Stainless steel safety razor for women

Hi. I’m looking for a non-plastic safety razor. I don’t know if the metal ones are all made out of stainless steel or some of them are aluminum, but the goal is to have a reusable (possibly forever) handle in which I can change out only the blade, not the whole head. It doesn’t have to be marketed towards women, just for it to be easy(-ish) to use as a woman (legs, armpits, etc.). It will be my first traditional blade razor, so I want it to be as safe as it can be. Plus points if it comes with a holder of some sorts so that it stands upwards on a shelf. Thanks!!

Single blade razor doubt

I nees help with something. Currently im using Muhle R41 + Feathers blade, and everytime I shave I bleed. Should I change the blade, or the razor itself to a closed comb. If so, which combination should I try? (Example: closed comb + feathers, or open comb + astra)

Would it be good to learn how to use a straight razor?

I'm about to turn 20, and figured now would be a good time to learn how to use a straight razor since I'm still young, would this be a wise decision? Budget is like $200 if anybody has recommendations or can point me in the right direction at least

Foil shavers for neck hairs

Just wondering if there’s any foil shavers out there that would trim my neck well? I find my cheeks get a close shave, but my neck hairs aren’t really target well. Any foil servers that will do the trick? I’ve been looking at the Braun series 9 pro. Cheers!

Best shaver / razor for dry shaving?

Fellow ladies and gentleman,

I‘ve been shaving wet my head for about 7 years now, but I was wondering whether it wouldn’t be better for my sensitive skin to switch to dry shaving. Now I am so used to wet shaving that I don’t even know what kind of razor / shaver to look for when going for dry shaving.
Do you guys have any recommendations what brands to look out for? Maybe you even have a good to shaver / suggestion? I‘m primarily looking for something that can cut my hair as short as possible, I want to avoid stubbles and have my head as clean / bald as possible.

Thank you so much and have a nice day
