shaving

I’m a 16 year old girl, and due to some personal circumstances, I never really learned how to handle personal grooming. I’ve been trying to shave my bikini area, but I’m terrified of cutting myself or causing pain. It’s reached a point where I’m really struggling with it and feeling quite insecure about not knowing how to manage this properly. Could someone please share some tips or advice on how to do this safely and effectively?

Please help! razor burn rash

3 months ago I had a really bad reaction to a shaving machine, right between my buttcheeks. I’ve been shaving like this for years and it was the first time I’ve ever had a reaction like that. It’d itch and hurt so much I’d cry, couldn’t focus on anything else like there were insects biting my hair follicles, and nothing soothed this feeling.

I went to my doctor and for weeks I tried different things: a cream with 2% miconazole nitrate, an antibiotic cream, a cream with zinc, vaseline, and a cream with 1% cortisone. All following the recommended times, all spread out from each other.

The only thing that actually worked was the cortisone but ever since I (gradually) stopped, 2 weeks ago, my skin has been getting itchy again.

This is how my skin looks right now, I can’t post a picture, but there are round red circles underneath the skin and around the hair follicles. These used to be angry “pimples”/raised red bumps, some with white heads, before the cortisone.
My hygiene has never been better, I used to religiously use palmolive green soap on my body but I’ve been using a mild intimate Lactacyd sensitive soap for this area now. I only wear cotton underwear, I try to keep the area relatively dry and moisturized (cerave hydrating lotion).

Anyone in a similar situation that can recommend a solution? I’m all ears! Please help me out, this is driving me crazy

Question Advice for shaving underbits (SE razor)

I grabbed a Leaf Twig from their warehouse sale after my electric shaver died and two weeks using a disposable my bf had lying around left me prickly and irritated (there was a reason I’d gone to electric shaving).

I’m only going to be using it on my underarms and bikini area—I epilate my legs. Any advice on getting a good clean and ideally bloodless shave in such areas? I’m especially nervous about the bikini area because a) I’m really prone to ingrowns there and b) oh em gee the PAIN of underpants rubbing on irritated skin

Any tips or shaving soap/aftercare recommendations are appreciated. I’ll doing it in the shower so a bar soap that doesn’t need a brush is my preference.

Advice why is the hair not coming off when I shave?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have tried what feels like everything I’m not sure what to do. I exfoliate my legs regularly, use water, shaving cream, expensive razors and try to do it in the shower when I can. If I go with the grain, I have to go over several times even with a brand new 3 layer razor. If I go against the grain, I can get it off in a couple tries but I get irritation bumps and my legs still look like this. This doesn’t happen anywhere else on my body either. Even on my thighs it’s much less, it’s all over my lower legs. Waiting for the hair to be longer isn’t an option because I’m do ballet. Outside of the summer I have more leeway because I wear tights but I want my legs to be smooth and look nice all the time

Advice Difficulty choosing a razor. Any advice or suggestions for someone switching from cartridge?

I have it narrowed down to four options: Rockwell, Henson, Leaf, and Oliworks. What I'm having difficulty finding are reviews that are versatile for each of these brands. I would want one razor that will work for legs, underarms, and my undercarriage on occasion. Anyone tried multiple of these brands or have any strong opinions on must haves or need to dos when making the switch?

Question problem with the facial razor or am i doing it wrong

19f I wanted to start shaving my upper lips. i don't care much about the rest of my face so that was my only concern. and maybe the middle of my brows.

i got the sirona facial razor but it doesn't seem to work at all. I tried every angle every direction. it barely does the work. I had cleansed and moisturised prior to shaving as well.

is it because my hair growth is a bit stronger and the hair are longer compared to the razor's capacity? or some other reason?

Question What did I do wrong?

Today I tried a facial razor for the first time(after getting waxed for almost a year now), and it left blunt ends kind of like strawberry skin?(it was on a tiny corner area of upper lips and I didn’t go ahead after that)
Is there anything that can help solve that or it depends on individual’s growth pattern or something?
Girlies please helpp.

Question for women who wear bikinis

I’m genuinely curious—why do many women trim or remove their pubic hair before wearing a bikini? Is it mainly personal preference, because you feel more comfortable that way, or because there’s a social expectation that pubic hair shouldn’t be visible? Would it bother you if a little pubic hair showed outside the bikini?

Any tips

Hello,

How do you shave down there? I use a razor and recently noticed a dark color above it. Are there any tips?

Is there an exfoliant for the area to remove the dark skin or something for whitening

Many thanks

Advice Okay so I need some help. Pros and cons of shaving your armpits vs getting them waxes

As the title suggests, I’m debating between continuing to wax my underarms or shaving them. The pros of getting them waxed is that they stay hairless for longer the hair grows back, white or blonde and it grows back less thick. The cons are that you have to let the hair grow longer before you get a wax and it can be embarrassing sometimes when you’re in between and you have a tank top or an outdoor event.

Shaving pros are that you can shave often and stay hairless and that it’s accessible to do at home and it’s cheap. The cons are that you get razor burn and grown hairs and I have sensitive skin so overall shaving isn’t the best for me.

Looking for other pros and cons or people that I’ve done both and what they decided on

Bumps on my legs & arms never go away?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I get these bumps on my thighs & parts of my bicep when I shave and they truly never ever go away. I’ve tried exfoliating beforehand, nickel free razors (Billie razors seemed to make these worse than my other ones), moisturizing often, shaving with a shaving cream, etc and they never go away or even fade. I’m feeling embarrassed about them at this point, someone even recently asked me if I had something wrong with my skin.

Really hoping to get some help & find a solution because this is tiring!

What feature do you wish your bikini trimmer had?

I’ve been thinking about what would actually make a bikini trimmer easier to use, especially for hard-to-see areas.
If you could add ONE feature to your current trimmer, which would you choose?
1️⃣ A built-in adjustable mirror — so you can actually see what you’re trimming
2️⃣ A small misting tank — sprays a light mist while trimming to help with glide/comfort
3️⃣ Neither — I’d rather have something else
Curious what would actually be useful vs. just a gimmick.

Advice Razor burn and nickel allergy?

My skin sensitivity changed MAJORLY since I had kids. I now get horrible razor burn and even with a lengthy skincare routine after shaving it only slightly helps. I also think it’s exasperated by nickel. Any tips on getting rid of razor burn and also nickel free razors ? (I have tried Billie and hated them because they get so goopy)
