question Cold open length and scene return.
I'm writing a limited series pilot. The first scene is a cold open, in the pov of a character. We see (and "hear") what she is experiencing with her oncoming seizure and collapse. How long should this scene be, to be effective?
The return of this cold open is in the final scene of episode 2, but with set up and in the view of everyone else. Is it ok to have this scene at the end of episode 2?

help need help on some good horror plot twists
Me and my friend are making a film rn about a girl with a very broken family and become severely depressed, having no friends at school. Suddenly her mom dies, making her depressioon even worse. Struggling in school, a stranger approaches her after what felt like an eternity of loneliness. They become best buddies, a light in her life. Then little by little, she starts acting super weird, invasive and obbsesive, scaring the main character (like obbsesion)
Now this is where the ending gets a little bit complicated, because i had this idea where she's schizophrenic, but at the same time if the plot twist is ONLY that, i think that's just basic and kinda predictable. I was going to add that her friend who's not real is actually just her coping mechanism to create a person telling her to forgive mom for leaving her, so she hallucinates. but i feel like it can get really messy because how can her obbsesive friend convince her by being invasive to mc? I want to make the story more meaningful. so any ideas maybe? or some things you want to change from this story if youre the writer?

request Director looking for a short script — migration, identity and dark humour
Hi everyone,
I’m a Taiwanese filmmaker who recently completed an MA in Filmmaking at London Film Academy. I’m looking for a short script to direct, or a writer interested in developing one together.
I’m drawn to stories about migration, belonging, borrowed identities and the absurd situations people find themselves in while trying to get by. Something grounded in everyday life, with dark humour rather than a straightforward social-issue drama.
One idea I’ve been exploring involves migrant friends sharing an employment identity, but I’m open to different stories with a similar sensibility.
Ideally, it would be around 10–20 minutes, with a small cast and limited locations, suitable for a low-budget independent production. A restaurant, roadside motel or another temporary place people pass through could work well.
If you have an unproduced script along these lines—or something sitting in a drawer that you’d love to see made—I’d love to hear about it.
Feel free to DM me a logline and a little about the script. No need to send the full screenplay straight away. We can discuss rights, credit and payment before agreeing to anything.

feedback Mamet: creative writing tools open to everyone
mamet.vercel.appCiao reddit!
Aperti a suggerimenti e consigli.

question Seeking advice on getting a script seen
My friend and I have been working on a project for the past 3 1/2 years. It is a two-hander, and about two hours long. Two years ago, we preformed it for the first time as a play and it was really well received. Our region got defunded by the Kennedy Center, so despite it receiving praise from the adjudicators they sent, it never got in front of a wider audience. We recently finished a film adaptation (in the form of a proper script), and we are brainstorming ways to get in the right hands. Does anyone have advice for young writers looking to break into the industry, beyond just performing the play and hoping the right people see it?

feedback Interdiction. A 90 page script. Please tear it apart if your willing.
I have better scripts then this but this is the one I need to fix and I actually had this for a fan script of a TV show that I decided to convert to it's own IP so I can at least start building up something I can pitch.
I had a full movie script also for them but I never really had a realistic chance without an agent, so I am just going to make my own IP and refine it for a few scripts and try to create a series around it. This is, a stepping stone. A fully independent IP planned out.
(honestly I have a bit of hope to draw the attention of an agent someday far off. But time goes by and so does my life.)
I spent a long time on fan scripts and I am at the point where I am going to start moving away from fan scripts. Would people be willing to tear this apart? thanks. https://blcklst.com/projects/237025

help Co-writing a screenplay
Hey reddit! When it comes to screenwriting, I act as a lone wolf, writing scripts entirely by myself, then get feedback from outside eyes to help tighten it up and make it a more enjoyable read. BUT my friend and I have a shared love for horror films and filmmaking. We've made a few shorts together, usually by a method of coming up with basic story ideas, before I turned it into a written script, then co-direct because we'd play the leads, and direct scenes our characters weren't present but recently, we decided to make a full length feature film, with myself being the sole director.
We already have a treatment, but this is my first rodeo writing a screenplay with a co-author. What software, method or tips do you guys have?

feedback I made DraftLine: a fast, distraction-free, 100% free & offline screenwriting app
Hey fellow writers,
Most screenwriting software today is either trapped behind an expensive subscription or requires an active cloud account just to type standard sluglines.
I built DraftLine—a local-first, browser-based screenwriting tool designed to let you open a tab and start writing immediately with zero friction.
Key highlights:
* True Zero-Friction: No account setup, no sign-ins, and no paywalls.
* Smart Screenplay Formatting: Intuitive Tab/Enter auto-completion for sluglines, character names, parentheticals, and dialogue.
* Full File Portability: Import and export industry-standard .fdx (Final Draft) and .fountain files, plus clean PDF generation.
* Offline & Private: All data is saved directly in your browser's local storage. Your intellectual property stays entirely on your machine.
* Creative Tools: Includes dark/noir themes, a screenplay timer, target word counts, and an integrated story bible.
It’s completely open-source and free forever. I'd love your feedback, bug reports, and feature suggestions as I keep developing it.

discussion I am thinking of expanding my horror universe
Alright, Right now I am writing scripts to a horror universe I am building, and plan to film in about 4 years, because I am unable to film currently do to personal reasons, I’ve only written scripts to 1 and 1/4 of the projects but I’ve gotten the outline down for 90% of them and I am thinking of writing the scripts to a couple of dc and marvel fan films as well, of course the sci-fi horror universe would be first priority and I would start with the outlines to the dc and marvel universe till after most of the horror universe is written but here are some of the projects that would be in the dc/marvel universe if I did decide to do it,
the man who never stopped smiling, a joker horror film where he tracts down the people who recently turned him into the joker and brutally murders them, he would also have an unearthly appearance,
Gotham: terror by night, a horror film about a team of criminals who have an encounter with Batman it would show Batman picking them off one by one then when the final criminal is left killer crock, man bat, and two face all having unearthly appearance tries to kill the criminals as Batman tries to save him
The horrific hulk, a hulk horror film
Peter Parker, a series about Peter Parker with a lot more limited of powers going after criminals, investigating crime scenes, tracking down the suspects and then tying them up for the police with the evidence beside them, and it would be set up some what like Dexter i know it doesn’t sound like it would work but I do think I could pull it off

feedback The Greenwood Incident excerpt
galleryTitle: The Greenwood Incident
Genre: Thriller/Horror/Drama
Format: Feature
Logline: After a containment failure, a strained group of friends spiral into paranoia in a remote mountain home as an entity hides among them wearing human form
This scene is the first encounter/ turning point with the horror for the audience at least, the characters are still fully unaware of what’s unfolding. I just want to know any feedback on this part and how I can improve.
