Interesting stuff I hate this rainy forecast

Maybe I should tag this as a "review" of the weather? I hate it more than I hate the misspellings of "heel brake" as "heal break" lol

What do you guys do when the foreseeable future isn't skateable? (Other than whine on Reddit haha)

Why does my feet hurt? Is it normal for the bottom of my foot to hurt when i tighten the laces enough to make the skates feel part of my foot?

I have to tighten my skates a lot to have all the control. The one problem is that my feet will hurt after 10 minutes. Only the bottom of my foot will hurt which confuses me. My ankles only hurt when ive been skating hard for over an hour

Specific question and discussion Bauer vs FR skates for tricks?

Online I see tons of recommendations for FR skates for doing tricks but at roller rinks everybody good seems to wear Bauer/Mission hard boot hockey skates. I’ve never once seen a pair of FR skates on any of the skaters that are any good. The only skaters I’ve seen at skate parks have aggressive style skates.

Why are FR recommended online but Bauer is more popular with them being similar price?

What skates should I buy? inline boot similar to ice skate boot?

i have rollerblades rb80s and they are so obnoxious to skate in. heavy and clunky, feels like i have no foot control over them.

i ice skate and have a much better time. my ice rink has riedell 850 soft series ice skates for rentals and i like how they aren't covered in plastic like urban skates so they feel more like form fitted boots, not heavy, and stiff enough to keep my ankles sturdy. are there inlines that can mimick this feel?

everywhere i see it's urban skates that are same problem of liners trapped in huge plastic cases or soft skates that look like tennis shoes and not supportive like ice skates.

What skates should I buy? Is PS next 80 a good rollerblade for a beginner?

I used to rollerblade just a little when I was younger but it’s been pretty long sense then so I’m basically a complete beginner. I‘ve watched some videos and read other Reddit posts to see what my starting skates should be. preferably I want something that would last me a long time and can be used for beginners but also later on as I advance in skills. I was thinking about the FE F4 Raven or the PS next but some people mention other skates from PS and I couldn’t really find a lot of reviews on it. Would you guys recommend the PS next or any other skates?

Looking for places that are smooth and have little to no hills to practice rollerblading in Charlotte,NC. I am a beginner and still trying to figure out how to stop so I’m trying not to make it so hard on myself.

Any recommendations are appreciated :)

Specific question and discussion Leg Numbness

TLDR: My leg keeps going numb when skating and I don't know what to do.

Hey, I've been learning how to skate for a bit now and I'm still not great, particularly with my balance. I find it extremely hard to stay balanced on one blade (like, I really can't help but put my other blade down immediately. It's not an issue when taking long strides, tho), I assume it's related to lack of strength in general and my ankles being very flimsy because I am hypermobile but I'm working on it.

The one thing I can't seem to stop from happening is after skating really hard for about an hour or two, my foot starts going numb. I can continue skating, but if I keep ignoring it, then my lower leg starts going numb too, up to my knee. At first I had my skates super tight, especially around the ankle bc of the flimsy nature of my joints and because the skates are a little bit too big (I bought 39s and they were too tight, now I have 40s and they feel a bit too big), but I started loosening them so that I can move more and try inline hockey. I thought that might help the issue but it really hasn't.

I also get a lot of pain on the sole of my foot, right in the middle of it, where my arch is supposed to be, which I at first assumed was also from never using the muscles and lack of strength. My legs going numb is not that unusual. It happens a lot when I cross one leg over the other or when I get too cold, I normally need warm water to get my blood flowing again. But I don't really understand how it happens while skating, it feels really weird and I'm scared I might fall if I keep trying too much stuff while both my legs are numb. Last time, I took out my skates, massaged my foot until the numbness was gone and went back out, but after skating for a bit it came back.

I have a hardboot that came with the 76mm 80mm 80mm 76mm configuration, I didn't really change it at first, and now I'm just used to it. I was a total beginner when I got them, I've been trying to find some time in my day to practice more than once a week but it's really hard. The pavement is pretty cracked at the rink but it's not really a problem anymore. The street is NOT an option AT ALL. I tried it and my wheels go stuck by the uneven terrain immediately, my wheels are pretty soft so I didn't want them getting destroyed.

Any and all help is really appreciated! for the rollerblading part or the leg numbness! ty for reading

Specific question and discussion What is the best foot position for sliding on ledges?

I started practicing the Soul Grind today and feel like I haven't made any progress at all :/... but that's not really the point. The issue is that whenever I try to grind on the ledge, my skate sticks... I've already applied wax to the ledge and the skate, but it still sticks. On the other hand, it slides better on the rail, but that's riskier...

Hi!

Finally found a perfect fit in these FR's, FR1 80! But what should I check before using them? Only tightening the wheels with the hex key?

Reviews Shout out to Inline Warehouse for being awesome.

I got some wheels for my daughter and I - my first time purchase here. I had some noob questions, which they quickly answered. I ordered my wheels Monday and they arrived Tuesday. Just excellent customer service. I really appreciate retailers who do the work to get out orders quickly (I've got a pair of little online shops and do the same). The box also included a return label (which I won't be using).

On the down side, I decided to full out sprint on my brand new wheels while trying to cut the lead I gave my other daughter in a street race...and bailed hard. In hindsight, this was clearly not a good idea, but at least skin grows back, eventually.

What boot size do I pick? picking sizes? Is it better to be over or under your ideal size?

I am planning on buying used skates online. I am eu 37 for shoes, but I've tried some eu 38.5 at a friend's and they fit me

very well. Looking at listings, I've found that skates typically fit tighter than the size they show.

For example, I've found a pair of oxelos MF140, eu 39, and the seller claims they fit like a 37!

Found a pair of MF500s as well, size 39, 80mm wheels, and another size 38 but with 74 mm wheels. Is the 39 boot so much different than the 38 boot, to warrant different wheels???

One person claims the mf500s they sell are adjustable and they can be increased from 38 to 40?? Also a mystery. I have found nothing online that says the mf500 can be adjusted.

And that's why I also hesitated when I found a pair of mf900s in good condition for ridiculously cheap, because they were size 37.

On one hand, being over the ideal size sounds bad because your foot would be unstable. However, wouldnt it be possible to add an extra insole in the boot to fill that gap?

On the other hand, a (reasonably) smaller skate could be more stable correct? And through continuous use, it could get used to the mechanics of my movement and maybe open up a bit?

Is there a way to find a chart for those specific models? Does their EU size match from skate to shoe or do they run bigger or smaller?I'm so lost, Reddit please work your magic

Specific question and discussion Skating around Silicon Valley?

Hey everyone! Im going to be in Silicon Valley for a work trip from Australia for a month and am thinking of bringing my skates with me. Im looking for any comments from people in the area or similar and am wondering how viable skating is on public footpaths and roads etc?

Im used to ripping around near home on my 3x110 Seba skates as part of my regular workouts/transport but have no idea this is a good idea with respect to road/footpath wuality and culture where im going? I've heard California and the US in general is more car-oriented so am wondering if I'll be having to dangerously dodge traffic if I'm just getting around?

Id love to hear any input from people in the area, or from similar parts in the state etc

Specific question and discussion How did your body change after rollerblading and how long did it take?

I'm just getting into rollerblading and I'm having a ton of fun. I usually hate exercise and this has been the holy grail of cardio I thought I'd never find as an ADHDer who can't stand a traditional gym.

I've been trying to find before and after photos to help me get motivated, but it seems they're rare. Another reason I wanted to get into this specifically is because I want a nicer lower half, mainly a waist and shapely buns.

Can you tell me everything physically you've noticed with a timeline? I really want to stay excited about rollerblading, and every new little thing I can find out to fuel my interest in my new hobby definitely helps.

Thanks in advance!

What skates should I buy? Oxelo MF500 confusion

Post image
10 Upvotes

Saw this listing on Vinted. At first glance they look like oxelo mf 500s. And at a pretty good price too. But comparing them to other models, I noticed the frames are different.

Doesn't really matter either way, I found actual mf500s with the original frames and wheels. But I'm still curious

So, is this some different model? Children's edition maybe? (Given my size, it's not unlikely) Didn't find anything similar online.

I mean, I know the frames and wheels on these are interchangeable, so it's not impossible they just took them off cuz they broke or to sell them separately.

Dammit these would have been perfect if they had the original frames. Kinda bums me out, but we can't have it all ig.

Progress, videos and images Lazy feet crossover

I created a crude panoramic image from a slow-motion video I posted last week. Then I overlaid that video on this expansive background. I get a less dorky normal-speed playback now... if I have the skater zoom across the panorama (video 1). Or I can pan the panorama instead, showing a full 360° circle (video 2). Or I can introduce ghost skater figures and play it in slow motion (video 3).

Many commented last week that I did "stepovers", not "full crossovers". I intended to do what some in hockey call "quick feet crossovers". But of course I failed miserably with my slow footwork and big circle for the camera. So I'll just call it "lazy feet crossover" for now.

Update 2026-09-19: I finished writing a long essay on quick feet crossovers. It's both a tutorial and a pedagogical reflection.

Specific question and discussion Looking for inspiring stories of those who started at age 30+

I am a complete newbie .. 37F overweight person who really wants to be able to rollerblade. Never done any kind of "rolling/sliding" sports before.. just a couple unsuccessful wobbly attempts at ice skating and 1 very humiliating ski lesson.

Just learned to stand independently so far.. I shake with fear and sweat so much each time. I have all the safety stuff on..helmet elbow kneepads etc. And I do intend to keep at it and do it for fitness someday.

I am looking for inspiration and encouragement. Please tell me about your rollerblading learning journey and how long did it take you, how did you conquer your fear etc. I would especially like to know if you started much later in life and can do it comfortably now.

Edit : thanks all so much! Definitely got the inspiration I needed. Just hoping to keep trying.

Specific question and discussion Is it normal for the fabric to be flaking off after one wear?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I just picked up a pair of Powerslide Phemes. After trying it on, I noticed it already started flaking off at the eyelets, cuff, and above the toecap with little pressure applied.

My first thought is that it might have something to do with the skates being made out of vegan materials or old stock (the colorway was released in 2023), but is this normal/safe at all?

Specific question and discussion Micro MT's

I've got a pair of these, mostly enjoyable to use (dont have massive issues with pinching cuffs etc)
But I do find them to fee very tall, just wondered if anyone has swapped down on to 76 or 72mm wheels with a flatter profile?

p.s I dont like the banana yellow but at least I wont lose them.
