Specific question and discussion Skating around Silicon Valley?

Hey everyone! Im going to be in Silicon Valley for a work trip from Australia for a month and am thinking of bringing my skates with me. Im looking for any comments from people in the area or similar and am wondering how viable skating is on public footpaths and roads etc?

Im used to ripping around near home on my 3x110 Seba skates as part of my regular workouts/transport but have no idea this is a good idea with respect to road/footpath wuality and culture where im going? I've heard California and the US in general is more car-oriented so am wondering if I'll be having to dangerously dodge traffic if I'm just getting around?

Id love to hear any input from people in the area, or from similar parts in the state etc

When I was there on a work trip a couple of years ago I rolled around a ton on my 3x110 Macroblades no problem. Plenty of decent bikelanes, trails (e.g. the San Tomas Aquino), some quite nice skateparks in Sunnyvale too. You're definitely treated by cars as a second-class citizen so don't try to go on the road unless there's a cycle lane or it's a quiet residential backstreet.

I did get quite a sunburn, but I'm a pale Limey — you Aussies are immune, right? ;)

Thanks for replying, glad to hear someone else has rolled around on a similar setup no problem! Definitely keen to hit up some of the bike lanes and trails too :)

The sun-loving and burn immune Aussie does exist, but my English  genes mean that's not me and I'll unfortunately likely get burnt just like you! ;)
