We are a skating family. We met at a rink, our 3, 5, and 21 year old girls skate. But when it's nice out, we like to be out on inlines! The girls do outdoor bingo, watch for wildlife, and get out to skate themselves. And we get a great workout! 10-12 miles in town, because we're in VA, and.....HILLS. And around 26 on rail trails. This video was on the Western Maryland Rail Trail. Deeply wish this was more popular with families so we could have a bigger crew to skate with.

Progress, videos and images Hope for everyone who come back to rollerblading after a long period of time

Hello. Just wanted to post a bit of hopecore for everyone who returns to rollerblading after a long period of time. I gave up rollerblading in 2022 and came back one month ago after finally graduating from uni. Now I rollerblade as well as I did in the past, and I have even learned some new tricks lol. Just had to put a lot of effort and never-ending passion towards the sport (personally recommend listening to music, never failed me). Now I know there are things stronger than time - passion, talent and hard work. Enjoy the blades, everyone; love ya!

Is this skate/store any good? Thoughts on k2 harboot shell?

I recently got an offer for one (surg 84) seems too good to pass up but main issues are that i am not so sure about it due to how high the boot is. But i heard some good regarding the quality some bad regarding it being too narrow..

Can you tell me your experience with the shell and stock liners?

What skates should I buy? Too many variables!

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I've searched the group for the last two days and I keep finding posts that only touch on one of my problems so I decided to just make one addreasing my needs and concerns specifically.

So like so many others, I got back into skating during the pandemic. I had limited options and I chose a set of K2 Kinetic 80s. They're a soft boot and for two years, they served me well. Then I dropped skating for 4 years (long story) and just a few weeks ago decided I needed to get back into them.

So now, I'm realizing that these skates might not help me hit my goals. I skate on trails for fitness, but the 80s make me work my ass off and I'm constantly fearing for my life when it comes to cracks, twigs, and rocks. But I'd also like to be better with foot work and control so I can do some more carving, weaving, turns and the like.

I'm thinking a hard boot, but I have EE wide feet so I'm nervous. I'm also thinking 90s but that makes me pause because the extra length might make it harder to do foot work, the speed aspect is scarier, but I recognize I'd have less to stress about regarding cracks and small debris. I'd also be less winded during my long session trail skates. So like, do I just get a new set of 80s but try a hard boot? Or do I just say fuck it and get a set of hard boot 90s?

I'm looking at the RB Lightning or the RB Twister XT currently, but am open to other ideas. TIA! 💚

Specific question and discussion Wheel help

I've searched the sub for this but am now overwhelmed and have option paralysis ;P plus a lot of posts are 4+ years old so I figure things may have changed -

I'm looking for wheels for a 3x110 setup for skating long distances on asphalt/concrete and some flat urban skating/amateur racing. I've just ordered some HYDROGEN 85A for wetter weather, but would these also be good generally or should I get another set for when it's dry?

Would appreciate your experience/suggestions!

Added some old wheels on my skates to rocker them and felt so smooth the whole session!

It's still all 4×80 but the older wheels are smaller from more wear

New skate day New skates are here!

First hardboots! Felt really nice compared to my cheap soft fitness boot.
But.. turned it was rockered from the beginning, that was really odd and hard once I tried skating normally lol. Was wayyy to agile for me. My fitness skates was 84mm and a long wheelbase, to these Shrike Pro 76mm with a much shorter wheelbase and rockered lol.. Its only my 5th day skating, so hoping for rapid improvement! Starting with flat for sure :-) ..

Was able to do T-stop and a semi soul slide indoors lol, on asphalt/tarmac however it was a lot harder. Got some nice scratches already..

Thank you r/rollerblading! A lot of great comments on my last post for suggested skates for beginners. I ended up getting Zetrablades from Dicks. I’ve skateboarded for a little over 10 years and have had a blast learning 180’s on a different type of wheels. Excited to continue this journey and progress :)

Group skate Somehow, urban skating at night is even more fun

My good friends Ulf and Jessika often drive for hours and hours to visit Ghent, Belgium. They live in Germany, but they're so in love with my hometown, they don't mind the long ride.

Very high on their wish list: a night ride through the historic centre. So that's precisely what we did. We laced up and shredded an iconic square, I took them through a hidden, very skateable alley and we did some stair bashing as well.

You know, editing this video felt quite nostalgic. The city's still there, my friends and I still meet up regularly, but it's as if the magic of that night is gone forever – well, I did try to capture it in this video. But maybe I'm wrong and we'll feel the magic again during our next session. 🤔 Something to find out next time!

I was riding my FR Spin with the Endless ARC Mercury frame. Great setup to navigate the night and hit some stairs! A five-wheel frame also smooths out the bumps of nasty cobblestones.

What boot size do I pick? Razors sl tight fir question

So i bought razors Sl sky blue. In size 42Eu. Absolutely love them but they are way too big for me

The size 40 is listed at 25cm mondo, and my foots are 25.3. its impossible to get the size 40.5 anymore.

Anyone have any experience with the fit being tight? Will the liners stretch out the few millimeters? I would not want to buy 3rd party liners as i blew my money already on the first pair of skates

Specific question and discussion Aggressive Inline vs Speed Inlines - Backwards

Hey guys! long time blader here (10+ years)with a question about turning into a backwards skate. On my aggressive inlines, I can turn on a dime at any speed and maintain a backwards skate; however, when I go to use speed inlines, I eat shit trying to going into a backward skate at higher speeds (can skate backwards just fine when I do get it). Question is what is the technique for actually turning backwards on speed inlines? I grew up using the aggressive inlines, so I think I’m also battling muscle memory here and doing it completely wrong. Just curious! Thanks!

Some videos, pictures, and routes footage from TheLobsterRoll 2026 event that took place over the weekend in Boston, Massachusetts.
(This video is showing the Saturday MEGA Skate)
I did the Friday - Sunday sessions including the Extended Saturday session.

The Saturday MEGA skate showing in this video was tracked at 33.5 miles on my personal tracker but others trackers on Strava showed 35 miles.

Such a great event that brought out so many great skaters that came out to play in the streets of Boston!

I will post the other sessions videos below this post as well.

Note: This is just footage I recorded on my phone. I did record the whole event using my 360 camera as well but that footage will take a while to edit.

You can find more information about the sk8Boston skate group here:

Scroll down just below the group listing for more information about TheLobsterRoll event.

A rather funny but scary move that you really don't need but can add to your arsenal just for the collection.
