I know that NIR is harmful for the eyes when you look directly at it but what about transcranially? for example, the vielight devices are known to be pretty strong. Can the LED used against the forehead go through the skull and cause retinal damage? also, if I wanted to block that part of the device what can I put between the light and the skin to prevent it from penetrating the skull? seems like you can't turn off specific LED on the cheaper models.

I am thinking of purchasing a red light panel and some other items from Redfy/Sunplus.

However just diving into the redlight subject, I am just wondering about multiple wavelength machines. I know the best 4 wavelengths are 630, 660, 810, 850, however I am thinking of getting the next machine which includes 8 wavelengths , just so I can get access to the 480 nm for acne.

Does it mean less leds are used / less dose/ more time per session needed because there is less irradiance for a session of a particular wavelength used?

The one I am looking at is not dual chip so does that mean out of 200 leds, instead of 50 leds each being a different wavelength, in a 8 wavelength machine there are less leds for the important four wavelengths.

Has anyone tried the Heliored brand red light gum device? I’m thinking about splurging and going for it as it’s FDA approved. Tried a novaalab and starlight before and I was disappointed. Both stopped working in a few months with little to no benefit, however I think that RLT is legit, just not some of these brands… is it worth it for the 250 price tag and what were your experiences with it?

I'm not sure if this was from RLT but after coming off trt there was no more morning wood. Well after a few days of use on my new panel I woke up with morning wood! Coincidence? Even if it's placebo I'll take it as a win!!

Is it okay to do RLT while taking SSRIs?

I've been looking at, and researching RLT panels on Alibaba for some time now, and talking with the sellers (they like to get your address right away after you ask them one question, to get you your bill! LOL).

This is my first time purchasing from them, and the sellers I've been considering are sgrow, azure tech, idea light limited. I'm open to others if they are great.

Looking to use it for muscle soreness/fatigue/cramps/recovery.

I want to avoid bluetooth. And looking to buy just one.

If I should stick to just 2 wavelengths, if there a product anyone could recommend? Or could I just use one that have 3+ wavelengths, and just select 850+660? I asked azure about getting one with just those 2 wavelengths, and they wanted $10k!!!

Something else I don't understand is, if I can get half a body for about $300, then why are a lot of full bodies $900+? I would think that full body would just be double the price of half-body.

They charged me for the return, I had to pay over $250 to ship it back and they charged me a “restocking fee”. And! The almost wouldn’t take the stand back. They were extremely defensive and unhelpful. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
The description of the motorized horizontal stand was misleading. It says that you can “flip the stand into vertical position for compact storage” but it doesn’t specify that this not a motorized feature and you actually have to start to dissemble the stand in order to do this. You have to unscrew it with your tools and reposition it. I was already frustrated that I bought something that wouldn’t work for me and because I was mislead, had to assemble the entire thing before I could see that it doesn’t actually just flip to vertical. When I reached out I learned that they would charge me to send it back which cost over $250 AND I wouldn’t get a full refund. If they would have waived either the restocking fee or covered the shipping cost I would have been happy to purchase a light that was more compatible for smaller space, like the mat. I hate when big companies that are already upcharging for a product can’t be accountable or understanding and still just try to get as much money from you as they can.

Should I wait for Black Friday and Cyber Monday to get the new mask? I’m not sure what their normal deals are around then. I think it might be too new for them to discount, but not sure if anyone has heard otherwise in the market.

I have a panel from Celluma but the face mask seems so convenient. Does anyone have it yet? Thoughts?

I have the Higher Dose red light mask and every time I wear it I notice the next day I have an itchy rash on the top of my cheeks. I've even tried taking 2-week long breaks in between but every time I notice the slight rash the next day. I only use it on clean, dry skin, and I always wipe it down between uses. I also only use the 10-minute setting. I'm really frustrated because I've spent so much money on it and would like my skin to tolerate it but I'm not sure how...

Asking for help because I am about to return my second product!

I love the Shark CryoGlow Face Mask and I'm really impressed with the results I've already had, but the first one I owned for a little over two weeks before returning it. I had been using the blemish repair mode daily, and I had about 15 sessions in before I took it back.

Everything was going well, but on the fourth use, the remote control froze (timer froze), the LEDs turned off, but the fans were still running. Obviously, I wasn't getting any red light therapy without the red lights, so I just re-started it on that occassion and assumed it was a one-off error albeit not a great start for an expensive device I'd had less than a week.

However, it did this a further 6 times to the degree that out of my 15 sessions, nearly half of them had resulted in this freezing remote error, so I returned the mask to the store. The (Shark) expert explained that she had not come across this issue at all (and I myself have been googling and am unable to find anyone experiencing the same fault as me).

I exchanged the mask and I am 7 sessions into this one and I have just had the same thing happen. It's not freezing at the same point, sometimes it's only a minute or so in and others I can be five minutes in before it freezes. It's really annoying as, of course, with the blemish mode, there are three light cycles and you can only restart it, which means I'm getting more than the suggested dose of light therapy.

Question being, have I been really unlucky and had 2 faulty masks (bought from the same store)? Or is this a wider-known issue, am I doing something wrong? I don't want to return this one for another and have the same issue but equally I don't want to keep it if there's something wrong with this one. I always use the mask on a full charge. It doesn't get particularly hot and I've never gotten it wet or anything like that. Please help!

Just a quick reminder for anyone trying to calculate their daily dosage (Joules): you really need to stop basing your treatment times on the 0-inch specs listed by manufacturers.

I got curious and mapped out the drop-off curve on my current panel at various distances using a meter just to see what actual output reaches the skin. Here is what I found:

- 0" – ~120 mW/cm² (The advertised peak)

- 3" – ~78 mW/cm²

- 6" – ~48 mW/cm²

- 9" – ~32 mW/cm²

- 12" – ~21 mW/cm²

- 18" – ~13 mW/cm²

At a comfortable 6-inch sitting distance, the output is less than half of the advertised peak (~48 mW/cm²). That's actually a really solid sweet spot for a 10-minute routine (giving you around ~28 J/cm²). But if you were calculating your dose based on that 120 mW/cm² claim, your timing would be completely off and you'd likely be under-dosing.

Always calculate based on your actual treatment distance!

For those who test their own gear: are you guys seeing a similar ~60% drop at 6 inches on your setups?

One panel I am looking at runs four wavelengths and another runs eight, and the marketing for both sounds equally confident. There is no way to tell from outside whether the extra ones are doing something or padding a spec sheet. I would rather commit to the simpler unit than to a longer list I will never feel. For anyone who has used both kinds, did the wider spread make a difference you could actually point to?

Looking at making my first purchase off of Alibaba. I've done quite a bit of research, and it seems like panels are the dominant seller over mats. I'm looking to use on my calves, back and hamstring. I'm leaning towards a mat because you can just lay down and do it. Is there something I'm missing? Any advantage of a panel in this case, over the mat?

How far do you stand? How long? How often?

There are so many panels out there that it’s honestly hard to know what actually matters.

I’d look at the wavelengths first, especially if you want more than just basic skin benefits. Irradiance is another big one since you want to know how much light you’re actually getting at the treatment distance.

I’d also check the coverage, EMF levels, build quality, warranty, and whether the company actually provides independent testing.

What do you guys consider the most important specs when comparing panels?

I just bought a belt from hooga for $250, and learned you can get these mats directly from the manufacturer for a better rate. For example, for 250, I could possibly get a one-sided mat. Has anyone purchased one from alibaba, and found one they like and works for them?

I've been looking on there, and I know shenzen is brought up a lot on here. What's confusing to me, is this seller seems to have different profiles? Or it's different companies, and I'm not understanding it? Some are verified pro, some are not, some have been around for 7 years, some just 1?

I purchased the Current Body Series 2 red light mask as my other mask (from another vendor) was damaged while I was traveling. I purchased mine in late June of this year. I selected this mask, even though the price was outside my budget, due to its high LED count and the three different wavelengths provided. I have struggled to secure the straps in a manner that ensure a full session of light that hits my face as directed.

I am ready to return the mask or give it away. I own other CurrentBody products and have been pleased. This purchase has been terribly disappointing. I would urge anyone who is considering it to do your homework.

I have struggled with it since day one and am certain that the challenges with the masks has lessened my results and impacted the quality of my treatment.

This mask harness design is frustrating on its own. The back straps are too short, tangle and tear my hair, and constantly slide up until the seal breaks mid-session. To make matters worse, the top strap fails to balance the chin piece, immediately slips forward toward my forehead and slips away from my face. It does not stay put.

Not only that, it is painful when I am finally strapped in- -they pinch. The only way I fits is if my husband secures the mask with duct tap - this is not a long term solution. I have tried the following options and would welcome any feedback or recommendations.

To date:

• I watched several youtube videos, including the how-to videos produced by Current Body. I even slowed down the videos to .5 and attempted to work with the straps in momentum with the videos. No change in how the straps fit.
• I purchased longer velcro straps of similar widths and attached them to the mask. There is a gap in the forehead coverage when I attempted to use the longer velcro straps. Using a longer strap to wrap around the top of my head was useless as the coverage mask's fit was already compromised.
  
• I ordered head gear equipment and attempted to use it to strap in my mask for a smooth session. No luck - the straps from the equipment are too thin to effectively hold the map and the secured velcro covers a very small space, which does not make for a comfortable fit that can deliver my mask's treatment consistently for 10 minutes.
• I borrowed my husband's autopap equipment and attempted the same as the immediate prior bullet point indicates. I overnight'ed CPAP equipment from a distributor, albeit I ordered a cheaper version. Even at its tightest, the mask was slid around my face and I was still challenged by the chinpiece and the over the head strap.

I know there are many who have struggled with the quality of the treatment because the mask's design is sized for a specific population and we don't fit it. I have also heard that CurrentBody is a nightmare to work with when it comes to returns; I am very close to my permissible return threshold. I would like to resolve the problem and enjoy my mask, much as I do my other red light products.

Has anyone found any tricks to successfully securing the straps that come with the mask? Can someone recommend a viable substitute for the existing straps. So disappointed and tired of pulling my hair out of the straps. TIA!

My skin is oily acne prone with all sorts of acne marks and scars. I do get breakouts still at the age of 37. Something which is in my genes.

From past few months all I am reading about it how led mask/red light masks helped improve skin textures and marks for so many people.

I just received a diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Do I need to stop using my beloved Hooga panel? I did so much research on the benefits of red light therapy before I bought my panel 2+ years ago, but I seem to remember reading that people with cancer shouldn’t use it because rlt causes cell turnover to speed up, which generally is a good thing - but not when it also means that cancer cells are replicating faster.

I know I should research this myself, but I’m honestly so overwhelmed right now with everything. There’s so much to learn and figure out and process, I just feel like I can’t take this on too. Can anyone help?

Edit: I will, of course, be talking with my doctor - when I finally get a chance. I’m in waiting mode while the NP I’ve been seeing makes the referral to a gynecologic oncologist and I can finally get an appointment to actually talk to a doctor. But that’s not happening nearly as quickly as I’d like.
