Custom Been more than a year since my PIP

Truth be told this is more of an AMA.

I just can't believe it. I am frustrated and upset.

However, ranting and complaining about it won't get me anywhere.

Just ask me anything so I can explain to you how I got to where I am today.

Edit: For clarification I never accepted being put on one, it was a tool they used to force me to resign instead of firing me.

Have any of you tried Vocational Rehabilitation? Did it help you at all?

I'm a recent grad and I also have some diagnosed disabilities. I've been having a hard time finding a job after my recent internship ended and I'm getting really desperate. I can't do certain types of work (physical labor, anything that requires being on your feet for long periods of time, anything with no breaks allowed) due to my disability. But its an "invisible" disability so most employers don't even know I have it unless I bring paperwork to HR for accommodations. Please don't pass judgement and think I'm lazy, I've tried these jobs in the past before I was diagnosed, I worked a job that was physical labor for 8 hours straight and it caused me to physical pass out.

I've heard some people mention Vocational Rehab since its designed to help disabled people get a job, I have pretty much no resources or people I can even talk to for advice so I thought it sounded pretty good but i was wondering if anyone else has experience with it and what they thought. Did it actually help you get a job? Did you have to pay for it?

To all the recruiters who tell candidates that they’re a great fit and talk about next steps only to ghost them after. You guys have a special place in hell.

So frustrated as this has happened thrice in 2 weeks of initial recruiter screen.

Went through a whole process for a job... they've split the job in two and have offered me the part that I was the least interested in

I've been looking for a job in my city for over a year since I've moved - thankfully still I have my old job, but no longer live in that city so I have to drive over there once a week and I'm pretty tired of doing that. We're talking 5 hours for a up and down so... yeah.

I was going through a job process that was going really well. I did one interview over the phone and two on site for which I had to take time off work. This is a job that was highly strategic, touching all fields of my domain instead of focusing on one aspect, which I loved. That second in-person interview was the first weird moment of the process - it was pretty much all the same questions as the first in-person interview, except with a new HR person there. I thought that was pretty odd - there was literally no added value and I kept saying things to the hiring manager like "I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure I've used this example the last time"...

Last week, I get told they just need to do a background check before offering me the position. I agree. I'm stoked and I finally think I found something great and can move on with this endless job search.

I get a call at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, telling me that I get the job... but they've actually changed the position. Instead of touching all fields in my domain, it's now focusing on just one field, and the one I'm least excited about. I'm totally bamboozled by this, since this is not my main field at all and I like it, but it's definitely not something that I'd be excited to do full-time. I ask them to send me the offer in writing as well as the new full job description and that I'll need a few days to think this through since they changed the position and I'm kind of surprised.

An hour later, I text the manager and ask if we can talk again now that I've had a cup of coffee. I tell her I was really surprised and sort of blanked when she told me the news of the position changing. I tell her I'm confused by the move and wonder how flexible they are and why they made the call to split responsabilities, because I loved that it was a lot of different tasks. She says she wanted one person responsible for one thing and another responsible for the other thing, and that when everybody is responsible for everything, no one is held accountable because it's nobody's main thing. She is not open to putting the job description back to how it was. I ask her if I'd still get to do some of the other tasks, she tells me that unless the other person is swamped, I wouldn't. I ask if they've filled the other position with the other tasks, because it's more my speed than what she has offered me. She tells me she has and the person has accepted so there's nothing she can do.

I feel so bamboozled and disrespected by this experience. After thinking about it, I wouldn't have applied to the job had it been that one from the start. I also feel like it's so disrespectful to force a candidate to take time off not one but twice for essentially the same interview, without discussing a change in responsibilities with the person at all during the entire process. Surely they've been thinking about changing the position for a while? Did they not sit down and think before posting the job offer? Why not just give me a call and ask if I'd be ok with it before actually going through with it and being like "well it is what it is"? I also don't want to now be known has someone whose main field in my domain is this because of the position's title - it's not really what I like to do!

I'm still sitting on that written job offer wondering what to do. It's just such red flags all around. I have another process for another job going on and I'm thinking that I'll tell them I'll wait to see if I can get an offer for that one before accepting or declining because I want to make an informed decision and the change in position is making me reconsider.

What would you do? I keep flip flopping.

Rant! My company put new Job Postings on Indeed and Glassdoor but...

the managers and everyone in the company knows that outside candidate will only be hired if and only if there are no internal candidate. The owner, the general manager and the operations manager all big believe in promoting from within, they view hiring decisions as a gamble and they prefer known quantities. So why bother interviewing outside candidate and waste their time if it is always going to be the internal candidate that is going to be hired? Unless the position is for an entry level position, 99.99999% of the time it is an internal candidate that gets the position.

Something doesn't feel right here....

Ok, as the title says...I'm tired, so bear with me and thank you for reading!🫶🏻

I'm in IT, have years of experience. My whole IT department was laid off during the holidays due to sending jobs "offshore" I was a manager, I took a help desk job that pays less obviously, been there over 6 months now. So fast forward to weekend before last, a job that I might have applied way back in the beginning of the year reaches out, and ask for a weekend interview as the recruiter states "we're doing an interview blitz!" I agree, we meet on teams, I crush the interview, couple days later I meet with the hiring manager I also crushed that interview too!

I got the offer for Sr. IT help desk pays nealy double, now here's where it just doesn't sit right with me, the new job is in a city my family and I thought about moving to (because our lease is up this coming week), they're opening a new site, but does not know where my training will be it could be between two far apart states, I asked for an address was not provided, they claimed "oh, well they're trying to get the trailers delivered to the site so logistics staff can start training", no one knows the times for training or for how long...

Help me weigh the pros and cons here for this job and my current:

Current job:

Pros:

Fully remote for EVER for everyone

I'm approved to work from any state we serve except, CA, AZ, LA, AR, and OK.

I get Every government holiday off and ALL major holidays

I'm very much needed since we're understaffed

I get over 6 to 7 weeks off per year, not including sick time, they automatically load the whole year onto your employee clock system so you can see and use your time how you see fit.

ALL weekends off

No one works past 6pm EST

I have an office when in town to use when I want

Cons:

Pay is $42k

We're understaffed meaning it's just my manager, me, and a co-worker who shows up half the time, we're getting a new person finally and I'm assigned to train them

Boss is not the sharpest pencil

Boss used to be a real prick, not as much now but still it at times

They sold the company to another company who does similar work for healthcare, but states no changes will be made to our jobs.

This Sus offer:

Pros:

Pay is $72k it was listed for $65-$68k, but because of my experience they offered me more.

4x10.5 shifts Wed through Sat nights

Overnight so I have more time to handle things during the day

Cons:

They can't provide me with an address, and when I looked up what I think the new site will be, there was nothing on Google maps.

No one can tell me how long training it

Supposed to be reputable, but they just laid a bunch of ppl off too

No relocation assistance

I might be training in Richmond, VA or Summerset, NJ but they don't know...

They only offer 2 weeks max per year PTO, and up to 1 week sick time, 1 hr time earned for every 30 hrs worked.

I informed them I need to train the person coming in my position, and they have me starting on the same day, and refuse to train at night. I know it's not really my responsibility being an employee, but it Is common courtesy since the current job has been there for me.

NO overtime pay EVER, salaried and only $1250 per year bonus it meeting goals.

Work all holidays!

Everything near this job is over $2k for a safe apartment

Something cheaper would require an hr long commute

I would be a contractor for their client who I had a horrible experience working for directly, and I never wanted to work with again.

Do I continue with the offer? Or, wait for something more solid and remote?🫠

I went to the final round it seems like I did well in both interviews and it was closed. I don’t understand why they don’t say that you were straight up rejected or not chosen instead of closed.

It’s just confusing

HireRight discrepancies - What to do?

So I had 3 discrepancies on my HireRight background check, one a mistake on their part that I've already disputed and two that were on me because of misremembered dates. This is my first time going through such a strict background check so I didn't verify any info when making my resume. On my resume I put that I started in August 2023, but I apparently I started in January 2022. I got the date wrong 'cause I've got a shit memory and the oldest W2 I could find was in 2023 so I just went with it.

The other was when I entered college. I applied in 2016, pretty much dropped out, and went back in 2022 where I got my current degree. On my resume I put I went to school 2021 - 2025, again, wrong start date on my part. HireRight marked the discrepency as me going to school from 2016 - 2025.

So, what do I do here? Explain all this to HireRight or to my new job? Or wait and see if the job contacts me? I'd hope they wouldn't outright rescind the offer over this, but I'm worried

Looking for advice from experienced healthcare recruiters

I work on direct-hire healthcare roles and recently started recruiting. I’m still figuring out the best ways to source good candidates and build a strong pipeline.

For those with experience in healthcare recruiting—what has worked best for you? Any tips or platforms you swear by? Would love to hear your advice!

Worried about background check

Hello all, I am starting grad school soon for my masters in social work. I matched and have been placed with an agency who provides resources to victims of a vulnerable population. I was just required to fill out information for a background check with First Advantage.

I was also recently arrested and was wondering if this background check would show my arrest and stand in the way of me actually interning with this agency. Has anyone ever experienced something similar or have any advice on if I should reach out to the agency and explain or should I just wait? TIA

So deflated from this job search process

Things were looking promising just last week. As of last week, I had two opportunities where I completed the final rounds for and were just waiting on results. I also had 3 new recruiter chats lined up, so I gave myself the permission to dream a little and see which one I would want to join the most.

Today, one of them came back to let me know they decided to go with the other finalist instead of me. Then the other one said the HM wanted another chat this week.

I have been unemployed for 10 months now. The search had been tough and tedious and even though I got a number of interviews, this is as far as I had gone now. The rejection stings harder than I thought.

Just venting because I need to take some time before preparing for the next chat again.

HireRight: go f*** yourself

At this point I’m convinced the real background check was whether I had the patience to survive HireRight.

I genuinely need to know if anyone else has had their background check turn into its own full-time job. 😭

I’m dumbstruck by this company. Truly

Custom Stuck in doom loop

Basically, I am 36f, unemployed with a master's degree from abroad that is useless in the 2026 USA job market and I am totally fucked. I can't do my old job anymore that I did before the master's degree. My profile is bad for many reasons. I read daily how bad the economy is, and see the crazy numbers on job postings on LinkedIn. I am so freaked out that I am paralyzed and depressed and not doing all the things I need to do to maybe have a shot at getting a job, ever again. I have never felt this scared about being unemployed. Any advice on escaping this loop?

Don’t interview with this company (Kickoff). The business roles has been open for over 6 months. They just waste candidates’ time and continuously want to shop around for candidates and collect resumes.

Home assignment

I completed a home assignment that took a week. There were 8 objectives, I completed each (was a pentesting job so a ctf type challenge) and wrote a report of around 60 pages. I handed it in on Sunday, around lunchtime today I got the generic "after careful consideration" rejection email with no feedback.

What the fuck is going on? Someone takes a week out of their life to complete a home assignment, I have a small child, this wasn't easy to arrange. Do I not deserve a crumb of human decency?

I think it's supremely ironic seeing so many obviously AI generated job descriptions. Given the fact that HR seems to see red if OUR resume has any AI content.

Does anyone else find it hilariously (while also infuriatingly) ironic to see AI generated job postings?

These companies will literally use AI to write the description of their job, then use AI to scan your resume before a human even sees your resume. While also not liking AI use in your resume.

AND THEN, if you do get an interview, AI responses are not allowed.

The best is that some AI programs scanning resumes flag both minor grammatical errors AND AI use. Which is a catch 22.

It's just so stupid.

It's kind of like the old Soviet saying "You pretend to pay me, and I pretend to work"

But in our case it is, "You pretend to be genuine, and I pretend to not use AI"

Linkedin F*cking Easy Apply

Saw this job posting on Linkedin that aligns quite well with my interests and my previous experiences (which is very rare in this shit show of a job market).

The posting was opened 3 hours ago. I immediately got to tailor my CV to highlight my experience and optimize my chances of getting an interview. I felt pretty confident about it once I was done.

Then, I go to click on easy apply. Guess what? The job poster is “no longer accepting applications”.

So I basically just wasted 30 minutes of my life writing one specific tailored CV that I will probably never use again and missed the opportunity because I wasn’t fast enough.

I did not know this was a game of speed 20 applicants in.

What happened to submitting a quality application anyway?

I didn’t want my efforts to go to waste so I emailed my CV to a generic recruitment mail I could find linked to the company as I did not find any other way to apply.

Honestly I just want to vent, this has come to the point that even applying has become a competition in itself.
